I have seen some really good modern cdramas. 'To Fly with you' is my absolute favorite this year and it was very very charming. the FL in that drama is my fav in any asian drama this year.
Point though is that for every good modern Cdrama there are 5 that are so bad that your head hurts watching that. On average modern Kdramas are much much better than modern Cdramas.

Last thing I want is for the drama to fail, no matter how bad it is. People have worked hard to make it and at the end of the day the only thing I wish it is success.

Who is asking for a carbon copy? Except for the names, there is nothing in this drama that resembles the webtoon.
The characters, the character development, their interactions, everything has changed.
Even the chemistry between characters is nowhere as it is in webtoon.
If you don't believe read the webtoon and check how nice the characters are and how good their journey in finding their love for each other is.
Her crush on the toon has blink and miss presence. He was a prop used for the growth of FL to find her courage to go after the ML as she sees herself in her crush's cowardice,
They may seem minor but a hundred minor things changed means the whole thing has changed. If it was changed to be make it better. all and good. But this show is a shit storm of stupid things.

You know in a Cdrama I watched the 2ML who was the crush of FL tie apron on her. The way he ties is he hugs the FL, they were practically embracing each other and he ties the knot in the back. My mind was thinking, do an experiment with a million people and ask them to tie an apron and not a single one would do it that way. Point being, the ML walks in on them embracing each other tighly and misunderstands. The director injected this stupid scene to create conflict and jealousy. As viewers one has to be an idiot to swallow that crap.
This one is the same.
There does not exist a reality where the girl or boy would leave the one they cared for when they just got punched and walk away with the perpetrator. The thing anyone outside of this stupid drama would do is ask the friend to Foff and stay with the one who got hit. Any explanation would given at a later time.

It has FL weeping in front of the ML about her 7 year crush. It was hilariously stupid and I thought it could not be topped, Until episode 8 when the CEO gets beaten and the girl leaves him on the street and goes with her crush.
In between there are plenty of stupid cliches like the rich CEO guy showing off how rich he is for starters. The most endearing thing in the webtoon is TaeMu going to FL parents fried chicken shop and helping there. It was not about how rich he is and throwing money at FL to impress her.

Basic test, this one is pretty basic and absolutely instinctive.
If a person you like is hit, the instinct at that point is to protect that person and not go away with the perpetrator.
Let's flip this.
Imagine if the girl ML liked hit the FL. The ML then takes the other girls hand and walks away leaving the FL on the street without even checking how she is.
as far as I remember, ML was baout to hit the guy when FL came in between.
Sorry but the gutless wimp of a ML has no similarities to the one in the webtoon.
Taemu would have never allowed these kinds of idiots to lay a finger on him and that's how the webtoon projects him as. And in reality that's how Rich powerful people are. Very egoistic and having their way.
The whole drama is ugly. It is neither based on the toon or reality. The drama is challenging basic intelligence of everyone. And it's not just this scene. Every episode has some of these scenes that would leave you in awe of their stupidity.
Just when you think ML and FL can not get any pathetic, The show turns ML into a gutless wimp. This idiot is supposed to be a CEO and is getting beaten up on the street for a girl. TaeMu from webtoon would have wiped the floor with both the FL and her crush at this point. But we need to turn this CEO into a wimpy simp which does not fit in with his character to begin with some for strange Cathartic reason.
Less said about how pathetic the FL still is. The man she was supposed to have fallen for is beaten up by her crush & the thing she does is grab her crushes hand and goes with him. BUT this same woman does not want the ML to have dinner with another woman. Talk about nauseating character development. The guy she likes gets beaten up and she goes hand in hand with the guy who beat him. One would think the immediate thing to do is care for the victim.
It's really hard to swallow your belief and go on with the belief as to why the ML likes this idiot and FL sudden feelings comes across as even suspect.
But hey, this is a cheap knock off every other Cdrama out there, So, lets buckle up for the love story of a Gutless Wimp who happens to be CEO and the pathetic girl.
