The Archer girl got little screen time. She was badass and needed a larger screen time.
2ML was ok. He was good looking and all but somehow did not have the same screen presence as ML or 2FL.
FL was a major disappointment. Not sure if it's how the character was built or the actress playing it but something was off about her through out the drama. Should have made 2FL as focal point of the narrative instead of her.
Se Ra is back with a bang. This woman keeps deluding herself she is in love with YG. No one in love can pull such kind of crap and hurt the person they love.

Anna is so full of herself at this point. When she was younger than DD, she got pregnant, gave birth and abandoned her daughter BUT the daughter has no right to do what her heart wants. She abandoned her lover and daughter & she want's the daughter to follow her.
Park once again seems to think he knows what's best for DD. He needs to be brought down to earth and his cheating ways needs to be exposed.
Strange to say but YS seems to be the one of the saner ones at this point.

Almost every romance Cdrama is about a dumb girl down on her luck (most of time cheated on by her boyfriend of 10 years) meeting a rich, handsome CEO.
Compared to that crap, this one is much better IMHO.
This girl definitely is not a cliche. Not everyone can handle pressure, responsibility or have a ambitious life goal. An average person above all else chooses to be happy. The girl tried for years to be happy & finally realized the source of her misery and chose to get rid of it. One may view it as her being weak but for me she has been her strongest when she got rid of them shares. Giving up that much money and power is not easy and she got rid of them for her own happiness.
People tend to confuse achievements with being strong. If that were the case YG would be the strongest person in this drama but alas he is anything but strong. He starts off as an angry, scared, pitiable man and confused father. He absolutely had no confidence in loving another person since he is scared of losing them. His journey is of a person who is climbing out of the misery he is swamped in. His sister is polar opposite, a happy go lucky girl but eventually beaten down by the world who approached her because she can easily manipulated. Her growth came when she got rid of those shares. It would not have been damn easy to do that & it shows tremendous strength when she did that.

She almost comes across as pathetic. In space of few months, she almost got married two men who are scum. And the one relatively decent guy who genuinely loved her, she neglected him when her first love came back and lost him.
She needs to take a step back and start loving herself before even thinking of being with some one else.
This is not as bad some chinese dramas though. In Cdramas the women, including the FL come across even more pathetic.

As long as the shares are with her, she can never trust anyone, including her mother to genuinely care for her. All her life, everyone approached her because she had those shares. She reached a point where she no longer trusts anyone.
She chose to get rid of the shares and be happy and free.
When she meets her current boyfriend and tells him she no longer has those shares & the reaction after that points to that.

DD and her father desperately needed an anchor & YS provided that for them. Let's be very clear, without Park, YS would have still have life but it would have been a miserable life. BUT without YS, Park and DD would be dead.
DD pretty much has seen through her own BS. She knows the horrible thing her mom did & knows how much she owes YS. DD's apology and her tears for what happened between her and YS are pretty much the proof of what she thinks.
We may all wish for things to be played differently on the screen but the drama is pretty clear on how it wants to project it's characters.
YS is no evil step-mom out to destroy DD. She is just dump, stupid, money hungry mom who cared for her own son more. She is not smart enough to plan the next week let alone make grand plans. In fact in this drama she is shown as a simpleton.
The first episode shows us a driven girl & next few episodes shows a girl who is not so driven. It was inconsistent story telling for a while there. Her crush on the other guy was bordering on stalking. If the 2ML's girl was not so nice, it might have been palpable but that girl is too nice and it just felt out of place.
The story starts getting way better after episode 10. Her tantrums go down, story picks up pace, her crush is not the most important thing for her anymore.
ML looks to be a in bad place. He should run away to regain his sanity and independence.
2ML is a jackass. When his girl was feeling insecure, all he does is add to it. He is a whiny little boy whose only qualifications seems to be being handsome and rich. His girl seems to be accomplished. Wonder how long before she gets bored with this petulant man child's antics and tantrums.

That guy already has a GF who is pretty sweet. She welcomed the friend of his guy but the FL is determined to just carry on with her own agenda of scoring the man she loves. It's usually the 2ML who refuse to come to terms with what's happening and keep pushing towards the FL. In a role reversal, it's the FL who keeps pushing to 2ML.
Hopefully it gets better. the 2ML's girl is pretty nice and from the looks of it, he does not deserve her.

As you pointed out DD's father and step-mom made a lot of mistakes. What we should not confuse is comparing mistakes to the terrible thing that Anna did.
The conversation if pretty much limited to that.
The idea that we can suddenly flip the narrative to SC deserved to be dumped by Anna is not right. Let's be honest, between him slapping her and she doing what she did...there is no comparison. Anna comes off way worse.
And Anna did not get slapped because she left. She got slapped because she manipulated him and made an utter fool of him the second time around. Worse, she would not back off even after he explicitly warned her to back off. He was a dad trying to protect his daughter from a stranger. In that context what he did was pretty mild. Have seen parents do much worse to abusers in real life & Anna was repeat abuser. You can't do crap to a person repeatedly and not expect a blow back.

Finding the class lead girl to be much more interesting than the FL.
