What Chinese culture?Go watch their modern dramas, everything from their clothing to culture is all western. There…
In modern dramas, there is almost zero Korean culture reflected,
from their clothing, club culture, dating culture and even their symbolism, which are uniquely buddhist, almost all are gone.

Clothing is the first thing that reflects a culture. When ever i watch movies from different parts of the world, I can easily identify the backdrop from the way they dress.

Whenever I am watching newer Kdramas, it basically is a western drama with heavily operated on Korean actors with Korea as back drop.

Probably the only thing Korean about kdramas could be the women getting piss drunk and passing out on streets.

I don't think you get it... First of all, being framed for causing someone's suicide and being mass-hated by the…
That's the inherent problem problem of having such an unrealistic ML.

It makes the normal FL look like trash.

Exactly how do you balance a ML who for his whole life waiting only and only for the FL, while she is having multiple relationships?
It's a drama and they need to explain the dynamics.
Else, the danger of FL coming across as trash is multifold.

And the theory that FL was in love with ML while in relationship with other men, makes her a complete trash. People think it's a positive for FL that she still was in love in with ML all the time. It's not a positive, it just makes her trash and unworthy of the men she dated. In fact the last guy who cheated on her, now looks like a normal person.

Wow, so many questionable and alarming statements in your comment... Inflicting your grief and pain onto others…
Well, his purity and virginity is only for the FL, aint it?
Even the 2ML is waiting to dedicate his purity and virginity for FL..

There is nothing masculine or feminist in this.
Either make these dramas resembling real world OR make the world consistent.
If these Kdramas take place in a imaginary world where the men save themselves and fall in love with only one women and stay that way forever, so be it, just declare it as such.

The writers should stop marketing this shit as 'slice of life'.

You are so quick to brand, without ever reading my posts.
I like the FL, she is realistic and makes sense. When I see her, I am reminded or thousands of women I have met.
The ML is a fake, crap, wimp, cucked and worth less than used toilet paper.

Just read carefully what I posted before baring all your guns at me.

Unless if your preference is like the writers of these crappy Kdramas....Hot virgin CEO for the win.

As to why I watch these crappy dramas - to make fun of them. It's one of my guilty pleasures. the dramas I like, it's always a short review. For Shit dramas like this one, It gives so much pleasure to trash them repeatedly.

LMAO...Virgin pure men waiting for decades for the FL. Not one but a whole team of them. My god, even teenagers don't have these kinds of fantasies about their Prince.

the only red flag are the writers...

Imagine writing a story with a FL who had dated multiple guys & ends with up a virgin hot man who only loved the FL and did not look at another woman?

Oh, there is also another hot rich virgin man who also only ever loved the FL competing.

Even posting these lines makes me vomit a bit thinking about the sad mental state of the writers who cares so much about keeping the ML so pure.

In fact, it's not just this drama. most dramas currently airing or just finished all have ML's who are smoking hot virgins.

The ones with serious red flags the writer.

Imagine someone writing a story where the FL purity and virginity is made the front and center of the drama....there would be riots.
BUT the pure ML is greenest of ML's.
Who is Joe Rogan by the way, nvm, I will google him. Since you don't like him at all, he should be a blast to watch.

Three cheers for Kdrama virgin pure hot ML who sometimes are rich and CEO's......LOL, it;s raining virgin men in Kdramas.

Agree with first para but there are different kinds of pressure. While FL got a direct one from ML's dad, the ML's mom went there for friendship. Out of the two, the one with more agency is love.
Again, it all comes down how we view the world.
You are right in how you view these things and I am right in how I view them.

Point though is one lost his wife permanently.

FL was already leaving, with or without the ML. Here is where the writers messed up big time. Her leaving was NOT because of break up.
The most dangerous trope the writers inserts here is that FL was not into the 'losers'. If that was the truth, the real loser and red flag was always the FL and not the 4 'losers' simply because she never gave them a chance with her heart with someone else.
Fortunately the dramas does not show it that way. She was genuinely in love with those men & had no thoughts to return. She wanted to make her life away.
And LOL about lack of personal life. She had 4 boyfriends, amongst ML and FL, it's very clear who had ZERO personal life. Again, another poor writing by the writers.

That's what you call waiting. 'Not moving on' is another way to say that person is waiting.
The writer dropped the ball here completely. The most happening trope in kdramas is the writers giving as many men to the FL. In this drama she has 4 male friends, 5 boyfriends and now couple of men who who only ever loved the FL and did not ever look at another woman.
How is the ML written? Not even female fly near him. It's unnatural writing, only to create the harem so popular in kdramas now a days. the story got screwed big time.

Agreed on FL's mom grieving her friend.
In fact, I mentioned that multiple times in my posts. Sadly that was not explored.
ML mom died protecting FL's mother. ML looks at FL's mom as her own. Now this guy is nearing 40, what kind of mom would not nudge her son to date and get married? Do we even see the Fl's mom ever have these talks with ML? They are so close like real mom & son...
Again, the writer dropped the ball here. There is so much potential to show ML and FL's mom dynamic, it's so strange that the writers do not explore it one bit, except when needed to advance the drama!

I like your theory on WHY the dad is like that. Sadly, the drama does not explore this.
Now imagine if the 2ML does not exist and the writer used that useless garbage in the drama to write more about ML, his dad and FL's mom interactions...
sadly the harem for the FL is more of a priority...hence, my take the writers just butchered this drama.

The drama puts the FL trauma at the front, center and everywhere. The whole drama is about her suffering and everyone else being used to heal her.
It definitely is trauma olympics, thats how the writer has basically written this drama. the amount of time spent on her crying, drinking and the men trying to make her feel better is an indicator of what the writers want's to show and achieve.

That's exactly what my first post said.
The drama concentrates so much on harem for FL and her useless crying over trivial things when other people have suffered far worse....

You said it right...the dad is living a pain past and dragging people into grief....has the writer even explored that aspect in the drama? Instead what we get? hours and hours of Virgin men pledging their undying love for the FL...

My take is not on the characters or actors. They did their best, Not even god could have saved this shit for writing.
It's all on writers, the writing is so illogical and garbage, it pretty much comes across as Trauma Porn for with FL in center.

The ML even after all that dedication towards the FL is again the one chasing her...it's hilarious.
If the genders were reversed, almost everyone commenting here would have demanded the man crawl back and beg and face competition to win the FL, who waited 8 years for the ML and never looked at another man.

It seems like NETFLIX is moving slowly to chinese market to destroy chinese culture by making nonsense videos…
What Chinese culture?

Go watch their modern dramas, everything from their clothing to culture is all western.
There is not a single thing in their dramas that exists before the commies took over,

Same with Korean dramas.
It's all pretty much Christian and westernized. Korean culture has long vanished from Korean dramas as well.

Again, you need to read my post.

her trauma is NOW. As in this instant. prior to that the drama shows her having fantastic career growth and good amount of relationships. If she would have not have lost her job, she would have gotten a new boyfriend and not even think about the ML.

On other hand, people she left behind suffered and are shown to be continually suffering trauma.

her trauma is nothing compared to the trauma of ML who lost his mother and then the woman he loved & kept waiting for some strange reason for a woman who was never coming back. now, thats trauma.

The very points you made about ML's dad is what's with this drama. he is a pitiful character first and everything else next.
If you think as him as the cause of Ml and FL braking up,
then the drama must blame FL's mom for causing death of ML's mom.
Or, we acknowledge that both FL and Ml's mom took their own decisions after being nudged by other people.
Can't have it both ways.

Anyway, should not digress, my central point was always this.
The drama puts the FL's suffering at the center, which makes no sense to me. She is not the one with most trauma or one who suffered most. Everyone catering to her even when their own trauma is much more than her's makes the drama as poorly written by the writers.

Wow, so many questionable and alarming statements in your comment... Inflicting your grief and pain onto others…
You don't need revolve the story around the character who suffers the most but the drama needs to acknowledge it.

the writers makes ML's dad suffering as a punch line as if it was him who caused FL to break up.
If that was the case, then the death of ML's mom can be placed at FL's mom as well. After all, if she was not insistent on doing the dangerous act, ML would still have a mom.
ML's mom could have said no but she did not, it was her choice which was aided by decision of her friend. Similarly FL could have said no to the dad, though the dad said what he did, it boiled down to FL's choice. Both women, FL and Ml's mom made their choice...

I am not railing against the characters.
You need to re-read my post again. I am railing against the writers. The characters are inconsistent, their experiences and current behavior does not make an iota of sense.

Fl dumped ML, so, why is the ML again the person running after her? Shouldn't it be the other way around from a story point of view? as viewers and even the story-line confirms how deep ML's love for FL is.
On contrary FL's experiences and the current story flow makes it very clear that ML was a good friend and just another of her 5 boyfriends. He is a special friend to her but as for as love is concerned, he is just one of the many guys in her life and nothing more.

If the writers even showed her thinking about ML and a strong desire to go back and be with him, while she was growing in her career, we can at least think, yeah, she is having a conflict.
There is zero conflict there. She was perfectly happy with her fantastic career and had a stream of men to keep her physical and emotional needs fulfilled.

Let's remember, she only came back when she lost everything. It does not scream love, it only screams opportunity.

SHE, the FL should be the person building back her relationships, because it was her who threw them and had fantastic time somewhere else. instead we get something that makes no sense in the drama.

Where did i ever say FL was cheating or anything remotely like that?
Please re-read my post.

Agree with dad needing to move on but that was not the main point I made.

My main point was the story not making any sense. The characters, their experiences and their responses are not making sense. The tone of the drama where the FL suffering is shown as central does not make sense. I would rather the central point of show be the FL's mom or ML's dad...because one lost a dear friend and other dear wife.
Compared to their trauma, the FL crying every minute and drinking makes absolutely zero sense.
If she had suffered for 8 years, waiting on ML, who in turn had dated multiple women, then probably we can say FL suffered. Point was, she did not suffer for 8 years. It is only NOW she is suffering.
the ones who suffered continuously were ML, his dad and the Fl's mom.

And agree on writers making the ML as unrealistic wimpy simp and a used tissue paper. Imagine being nearly 40 and still waiting on some one who dumped him!

I also find so much unnecessary hate towards Yongpil dad. The so called understanding audience in this comment…
I don't understand the FL's suffering. With all her crying and drinking, the drama makes it look as if she lost her mom or someone very dear or something...oops, that's actually the ML and his dad.

Anyway, people lose their jobs. People also get cheated on by their loved ones. Fl lost her job and the 5th guy she loved cheated on her. She also got shafted at her office underhandedly.
They are bad but not as bad as her 'look at me, I am victim' mentality, especially around people who actually lost their dear ones.

If FL needs to drink for what happened to her, ML should just buy barrels of liquor and sit in them to cry and wallow about what happened to him.

ML waiting like a simp and wimp for a woman who did not give a shit about him and dated other guys - the ML is greenest of flags.

the grieving dad who tragically lost his dearest wife does not want anything to do with the other family - How dare he love his dead wife so much, he needs smacking.

Some how a man's wife has less worth than the girl who did not give a flyingF about the ML and dated other guys...
At least that's how the tone of the drama is coming across.

That's not to say ML's dad needs to let go and get some help. It's how the writers make what the dad went through very shallow to prop up FL suffering.

Let's be honest. FL is only suffering NOW.
for past 8+ years, she has had a blast with a great career and a team of boyfriends. She was having fun at her job and fun with lot of men.
The ones who were suffering were ML, his dad and FL's mom. ML and his dad just got frozen in time for those 8 years, wallowing in lost love, unable to move on. Just imagine the trauma these 2 men have had to stay put, unable to move an inch.

The reason the writing of this drama is garbage, because it want's to make the suffering of FL as central of the plot, especially when the story the writer wrote basically shows the other characters having undergone much greater suffering than her.

Why are these characters so frustrating?? Why does Samdal overreact to their kiss and why is Yongpil so clingy…
It's the typical kdrama trope where the wimpy simpy virgin Ml who only ever loved the FL is crawling on his bum begging for a chance and the cool modern FL, who dated lot of guys and have multiple options of choosing from a team of hot virgin men...

The more pathetic and simpy wimp the ML is, the more the juices of viewers flow.. It's like 'look at that green flag ML, a virgin who liked only the FL since he was a sperm in his dads nethers'...

Kdramas are starting to resemble the movie 'there's something about mary', where every man in the drama is deeply and desperately in love with FL.

It's not hate but as a man I found the ML extremely ridiculous, what kind of man would wait for someone for 10+…
Every Romcom and most romance dramas have this ML as prototype.

That's the worst part of it.
The drama would have been fine had the writers made the men a lot less pathetic and copy cat of every other romcom/romance drama currently on air.

If she has still the couple rings with her and was still loving the ML while being in other relationship than…
I was responding to the hypothesis that FL was always in love ML - as suggested by a lot of people and even implied in the drama.

If she was indeed in love with ML and dated all these guys to move on but still loved the ML, it pretty much means the men were always at a disadvantage and shafted by her.
This is basically what we call a massive red flag in a relationship.

As an example, if it was a man who was dating FL and was in love with his ex, we would be calling the man a red flag.

the massive red flag in all the relationships FL had with other men was always her.

Loyalty is not always physical. The worst cheating always is the mental one. The ex never had a chance with her. His cheating was not the first act, it was the final act. The first act was always the FL never loving the ex or any other men she dated.

Of course, it is hypothetical and under the assumption that FL never stopped loving the ML.

If she stopped loving the ML long back and genuinely loved the men she dated, then the discussion would be different.

the ML is a poorly written one diemsional pathetic wimp.

omg who are these people...the ML in this drama is the most realistic green flag..obviously he has been in love…
Thank for your suggestion

but the only discussion I want to have regarding this drama is to understand why Kdrama writers are obsessed with their ML being virgin and pure and only for FL?
Are the writers suffering some serious mental health issues for writing such pure and virgin men for the FL?

May be they think they are the FL and want the man they end up with as one who only ever looked and liked the FL...Just imagine, the cool FL who had multiple boyfriends and failed relationships, ends up with a virgin prince.

**now imagine a 10 year old squealing in ecstasy**
