I was talking about the characters, not the actors. I know many people don't like Go Ah Ra but I don't consider her to be that bad, especially in drama in which she doesn't have to cry all the time.
FENCING! I loved watching it from start to finish, even with some expected scenes. It was nearly never boring and quite enjoyable. The couples were lovely. Sometimes, they just had what I'd call stupid reactions, like in any other romcom, hence why I didn't rate it higher than 8. It's an easy to marathon drama.
Is signal roughly based on the movie frequency and the tv show frequency ?? They sound similar.. http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0186151/
The concept of talking through time with a walkie-talky is the same. The movie Frequency did that first so, in a way, we still can say Signal was roughly based on it. But the storyline is different.
I remember a teacher telling me that "opening a door" can be copied in a theatre play without it being considered copycat. I think it's the same here. They only used one thing so I wouldn't call it an adaptation.
Some main differences are :
- It is not a father-son talk. There is no direct link between the two who talk through time.
- There are several cases, it is not just a serial murder.
- The cases in Signal are inspired by real ones.
- The time-limit to talk is very short.
Still, because it's a time-travel drama, there are consequences in present when past actions change. But this is what makes time-travel dramas great ^^
NB: The US TV Show aired after Signal. So I think they probably saw it worked quite well in Asia and decided on a Frequency remake after that.
Where did you watch it, please? Was it subbed?
