As a result high school students can barely read and have poor comprehension and not enough critical thinking skills.
Omg, episode 8 is a nightmare. I thought SK was better about this, forcing kids into studying all the time and even using drugs for concentration. The ADHD drug they talk about can have serious side-effects mentally.
This is exactly why BTS debuted with their song, No More Dream, in 2013. It was all about denouncing the completely crazy school system in SK and how crazy parents live through their kids. After K-pop became more mainstream and more eyes were on SK I really thought they were better in this regard. ☹️

From this drama I'm confused about the Japanese medical system, I mean if someone has chest pain are they going directly to a cardiologist? Because it can be a million different things. I'd think general medicine would actually be invaluable as it diagnoses and rerouts patients to the correct departments for treatment? I mean, sure an hospital will earn more if they shuffle the guy through all the departments to find the cause of the chest pain, but how many patients can actually afford all that? I'm genuinely curious as I have no idea what the system is. Here we have free healthcare so our first stop would always be general medicine for assessement. Only then would we be directed towards a specialty doctor, if needed

The thing here is that I don't think Mantis is a psychopath. She is a case of extreme abuse when she just breaks and ends up dispensing her own brand of justice. Kind of like Batman. Yes, I think Batman is more villain than hero xD But she displays emotions, love for her kid, etc.
A Ra however, is a classic psychopath, which is pretty much apparent since the beginning, with animal killings, which are pretty common when psychopaths end up killing. Of course not all psychopaths are killers, just like not all killers are psychopaths. But the thing here is that they aren't the same, so Mantis shouldn't really be able to "relate".

I have no takeaway because I didn't finish watching the show yet. But yes, for now my view of part of the show is that it's a ridiculous thing to do. Killers don't all think alike and it was established quite early that this wasn't as much a copycat as someone 'evolving' as a killer. Mantis speaks like a profiler, someone who actually studies patterns in human behaviour instead of a person who killed others because of her own situation and life choices. That doesn't give her insight into every criminal's mind. Hope this clarifies
