Not telling a girl about her potentially fatal disease and using subterfuge to get her to quit playing sports is just wild to me. This series is interesting but way too overacted and overreaching regarding reality.
Before anyone comes for me (if anyone, this is a JDrama and JDrama fans are less militant) , I know the overacting is on purpose, it just breaks the ambiance in this particular drama.
Everything is affected by politics, especially in an age where you can get news from around the world instantly along with a slew of comments, opposing views and scandal sheets, grifters, liars, haters, rabid fans.
But the internet throws so much stuff and information at us that it is easy to feel outraged by a perceived thing, without actually having proof or even all the facts. Add to that the relative anonymity and people can pretty much believe whatever they want, pick the narrative they most like and run with it, try to ruin the life of someone living in a different country that you never met and don't really know.
Celebrities never interacted as much with their fanbase and the fanbase never felt as close to their celebrities as now. That can give people a sense that somehow they can and have some right as a fan, to decide on their celebrity's life's choices and decisions. It's easy for a famous person to fall in or out of grace.
I think the internet is amazing but I also believe it has ruined critical, rational and analytical thinking. Most people nowadays never saw a debate and most wouldn't be able to make sensible, well thought out arguments as to why they believe something. It's easier to just get into that mob and parrot what some influencer said about something. Their own opinions? Most people don't have them. And sadly, it's not even their fault.
All this to say that obviously people will boycott celebrities that they believe have done something wrong. Most times it doesn't matter what the truth actually is. That said, it is their right to not consume the media put out by celebrities that they dislike. As for the reviews on the actor's page or project, they should be reported, why can anyone even write reviews of a show that hasn't even aired?
Anyway, as much as I agree with you that sites like these are not the right places to start cancel mobs or worshippjng mobs or something, the truth is there is no way to prevent it. You'll just have to sift through the ratings and reviews and one track mind commenters and discover things for yourself...

I am aware of the problem that sites with ratings have because certain people rate in different ways. It can be a problem if you put stock in the ratings themselves, and I choose to not trust 10/10 or 1/1 ratings too much. If I'm unsure I look for longer reviews both positive and negative to have an idea if the series is as good/bad as advertised. But mostly I just watch a few episodes and see if I like it, because, to me, entertainment media is mostly about enjoyment. People are a bit crazy about certain actors and say they can do no harm and are amazing in every way, but if you are aware of these trends, it's easy to differentiate good from bad and where the ratings are inflated.
Last, I don't seem to use the site as you do. I use it to track my watching. My ratings are purely from enjoyment so I can give a rare 10 to a show that is not that good, because I enjoy it and give a less than stellar rating to a popular drama. As an example I gave 8/10 recently to Parasite, the Korean masterpiece. I thought it was objectively good, but I didn't enjoy it as much as, say, Mr. Queen, who is trolling several shows at the same time and was hilarious to me. So it got a 10. I take that into account for all shows. I rate on enjoyment, other people because of acting and story and still others rate because the actors/actresses are hot. It's valid to them, who I am to criticize?
All of this to say, everyone uses the site differently and I don't care if the shows with good looking actors are inflated because they're hot and all that crap. I look for the reviews that seem level headed and ignore the rest.
Lastly, I never said that it was ok to objectify men. Tell me where I said that in my comments and I'll apologize. Of course it is NOT ok and people who throw underwear or screech at other people hysterically at concerts or events are either a bit deranged or young and they take parasocial relationships with celebrities way too seriously. And yes, many of the people who do that are women, but again, just some women. Most have too much sense. I could also start talking about men and sports and the subsquent parasocial relationships associated, but this post is getting way too big.
Finally I don't really care if you think I'm a crazy fan or whatever. I used myself as an example because I am a woman, not asexual and because I don't engage in the type of behaviour you described. Hmm... because this site is for asian dramas and movies? This was made in the US, most people working on this are American and if it's the Korean voice actors (that are speaking English btw) I guess we can include all the dubbed movies to asian languages that are out there (all of Disney's for example).

As a result high school students can barely read and have poor comprehension and not enough critical thinking skills.
Omg, episode 8 is a nightmare. I thought SK was better about this, forcing kids into studying all the time and even using drugs for concentration. The ADHD drug they talk about can have serious side-effects mentally.

After K-pop became more mainstream and more eyes were on SK I really thought they were better in this regard. ☹️
