Eps 15/16 tug my heartstrings several times. My eyes welled up with tears. WLIS is inching up easily to 10/10 soon if it keeps going at this pace. Love the waltzes played at poignant moments, too.
The independent woman in me really appreciates how the author crafts Zhang Jie's character. She knows what she wants and she doesn't settle for less. She's dealt with major losses in her life (her dad and limb), and come to realize that life is short and uncertain. Thus, living in the moment and with positivity is her motto. Why dwell on sadness and carry on with a victim mindset? She knows she likes him, but she's not ready to settle and risks having their relationship turn into resentment later if she changes too much of her personality and dreams for him. Their 1-1 honest talk is so mature.
I agree. In The Mood For Love is one of my favorite movies.. and this drama oozes that longing sensual vibe between…
Totally agree. The Japanese musician did a great central piece for In the Mood for Love. I think he also did a piece for Wong Kar Wai's 2046. The rest of the soundtrack is also amazing for In The Mood for Love.
This drama is getting so good. The color scheme and director's creative angles remind me of Wong Kar Wai's works. Even the selected music is so awesome -- some songs have that slow, molasses feel to it. The leads are awesome with off the roof chemistry, and grandma is so adorable.
Ep 35, I like how HZ sits outside of the antagonist's mansion waiting for GYX while he battled within the four walls. You know she's worried, also understands he's on a mission.
Well, now that Lord Xian is dead, and the Emperor tasked YX in investigating the mastermind in puppeteering Lord Xian, it makes me wonder who could that be?!
So far, we have either seen or heard of:
1)The Grand Dowager 2) The 1st Prince 3) The 3rd prince (I think that's his rank) 4) The Zhou 5) The Shen 6) Unknown (Not spoken of/nor spoke a line/nor have a scene yet).
WLIS is a must watch. Such a surprising hit!! I'll be on the look out for this director's creative projects going forward.
Will Love in Spring's motorcycle scene in the tunnel also reminds me of Wong Kar Wai's Fallen Angels.
