In the beginning of the drama, it's said that she's known as the #1 "talented lady" of her time in town. With a title such as "talented lady", it's known that the bestowed person is skilled in 4 arts: music, chess, literature, arts/painting. Thus, it's not really needed for the drama to go in details how she gets to this knowledgeable level to be known in town as "talented lady", just that she is truly skilled.

I can’t get over the scene of Duke Su meeting with the Emperor after the theater incident. The Emperor asked the Duke why he’s not happy when he caught the assassinator. Duke Su was probably bothered JL got hurt and possibly realized he went overboard by putting her life at risk and was wondering to himself why he was having this irking feeling if she was not seeing him in a good light. 😛
