I don’t speak Mandarin so I don’t know if there’s anything lost in translation. Otherwise, my interpretation is that XW isn’t a taken man nor is he involved romantically with another lady, so there’s nothing inappropriate going on if he has an interest in her as a man instead of a teacher status.
