Mu Dan is the perfect, ideal heroine: strong, intelligent, resilient, kind but not a pushed over. She can see through everyone's guile. I absolutely love how she handled Liu Chang and told him off in ep 19. It's not that he's an evil person, but she's so keen she's able to assess his weak personality, and so smart to avoid going back to him even though he may seem like a great catch to the public eyes.

I LOVE Mu Dan, and I advocate 100% Chang Yang as her mate!🥰

Damnnn....they are being cute again in ep 18. I'm giggling while clapping and stomping all at once!🥰😁

This makes sense. She did witness the event and went to hide. He came to the shack to investigate and knew it was Mu Dan based on the peony plant and strip of cloth, and just left her there.

I rewatched it again, and am rather certain that she did see what happened based on the conversation ML had with her, especially when he presented her with a strip of fabric, there was a retro shot showing him picked the fabric off the haystack where she was hiding.
