A full drama in 7 minutes with a lot of flashbacks. Cinematography really dark: greens and blacks prevail, giving very uncomfortable feeling. The only pretty shot was of the lanterns flying in the night but that one is always beautiful....the rest is underwhelming. They are also pretty explicit which is surprising for China! I guess they ban only BLs there! Not GLs....🤣
" If I understand correctly, they are re-editing in order to minimize his presence?" That's the thing though,…
Isn't it still the thing in the States: "respecting other countries' customs and cultures even though they are not in accordance with ours, completely wrong and simply put, nonsense....who are we to tell the others how to govern their country"? The puritanical netizens might be a minority in SK but they are very very very loud and therefore disruptive!
Different people, different morea and Netflix's only more is more profit so they do what they are told, I guess....
It is so rage inducing ! We all had this discussion here in january, hoping that the things will move in a different direction in SK. They didn't, they don't and they probably won't any time soon.
As for the incomprehensible article, I think we should probably blame Google Lens or some such translation app....right, MDL official "writers"?
Easily addictive, I never thought I'd get hooked on so quickly to an older drama like this. But even though it is brimful of tropes it is highly watchable. One tiny issues: the actor is not really believable as an ex convict and former bad boy. He looks and acts so innocent like a child. Staying optimistic after spending 16yrs wrongfully accused in prison? He knows his low position in that hierarchical society and does not dare to ask for more! Sad....Still, that annoyingly pushy angel is makes him reconsider but it sounds so wrong somehow! Poor Kang Chill: the guy is going to go through hell during 20 episodes, his every hope probably crushed by the bad guy who will eventually get punished but not before episode 20. I don't know if I have enough strength to stand the coming amount of extreme suffering. Still it is not boring...Starting ep 5 now! A long way to go and a lot of bad things are certainly going to happen to him: accidents, drownings, attempted murders, deaths in the family, evictions, police brutality, debt....Am I missing something on this list? ;-) Edit: 12 days later and still on ep 5. I want to watch it but I am dreading all the bad things that are going to fall upon the ML. There are 15 eps left so no flowers and butterflies in near future.... No, this is a drop. The beginning was interesting but the ML's "childish innocence" is not really convincing for someone who spent 16 years in prison. Nobody lives through such an experience and remains naive!
Here we go again: Koreans cancelling actors for not being perfect! I expected better from Netflix! I guess money speaks louder than the right thing to do! If I understand correctly, they are re-editing in order to minimize his presence? Cowards!
True! Oh, so true! And I finished it, hoping to see the things others raved about. Could not find them! There were a couple of episodes in the second half that I watched in 10min instalments: so cringy that it was unwatchable and since I do not FFW I had to take breaks. Often! To recover and gather strength! What a waste of time, good original material and cute actors! Remakes are definitely not my thing! 🤣Or theirs for that matter! I do not dare to imagine what the Thais will do to Kieta Hatsukoi!🤣🤣
Thank you for the subs, Amaris! A Budding Blue Sky, what a poetic title.... This is fun to watch: the way Tori sulks while Sakaki flirts with a girl, is priceless! Every case ends with a meal together: curry, pancakes... Case 1: victim blaming Case 2: mermaid, blindness and bl Case 3: lost kid Wish it was longer and the cases more realistic: especially the last one. It concludes on them promising to stay together forever, while riding bicycles. Basically this is a BL that doesn't say its name or better known as chinese bromance genre!
It is not that it is boring but those manga exaggerated facial expressions have no place in a live adaptation. It is really annoying! I remember having the same problem with Kieta Hatsukoi....Another pet peeve of mine, sorry manga fans!
Have you ever heard of "Freedom of Speech"? I know that today everyone everywhere censors everything but we should fight to keep this fundamental freedom to say what we want even if it hurts someone's religious beliefs (otherwise known as blasphemy!) People had been burned on stakes for taking Jesus's name in vain in the Middle Ages: shall we go back to those times? I am an atheist, I do not believe in the existence of any superior being who created the world etc. etc. I respect everyone's religion but you should also respect my non religiousness and my freedom to say whatever I like about it! Religious beliefs are and should stay personal: I do not need or want to know what religion you belong to. KEEP IT PRIVATE! Our societies and the importance the religion is taking in them is a dangerous path to take and it has nothing to do with respect and everything with control and censorship! Do you really want to live in a world where everything that may hurt your feelings is banned? I will probably be blocked by you because: you do not agree with me, in order to avoid being further triggered by me and to stay in your safe place! I wish life was a safe place for all. But, spoiler alert: it is not, for anyone!
Currently rewatching this fansubbed in french with hilarious comments! These fansubbed with comments dramas/films are getting more and more rare! I love this film!
I've liked him ever since I saw him first in Tunnel. He's an excellent actor but his choices of dramas ever since have been catastrphic! Get a grip and try to find another Tunnel. Please.
I'll make the assumption that you never read the manga or saw the anime to this, right?
Yes. I don't read mangas or watch animes.
I think that reading the original material should not be obligatory. It certainly gives more background and context but every work of fiction should be appreciated on its own. Unless these dramas are made exclusively for the manga fans? If so, I apologize for misunderstanding the plot!
Such a fun article! Where do you find the time ? You are my hero! 🥰Thank you for writing these editorials!
There is another excellent japanese bodyguard drama, I just finished watching: BG Personal Bodyguard. It is really worth the watch, the story is rather gripping! https://mydramalist.com/26053-bg-personal-bodyguard
And speaking of japanese dramas, how come you did not choose one of those for the profession of a chef? Food related dramas are their forte! I would never have considered a thai bl for that entry, but then again why not? https://mydramalist.com/679-shinya-shokudo
