I guess we will never know. I had totally been looking forward to this. Because both CZY and LJ can actually act. While CZY is not my favourite actor, but he surely has talent.
I'm with you here! Amazing, unique drama and I have to say that Angelababy does a good job here. I wasn't convinced…
Hey! Is her acting better than EL or actually decent? Because the only reason I stuck with EL was because of the story and not the acting. P. S.: Btw, we were the miniscule minority who enjoyed Mr. Hermit. I used to love reading your comments on its page.
I think we've already established that this drama is non realistic and focuses on the romance. In order to enjoy…
Sure! However, to be frank, don't really remember many of the realistic ones, save for one or two. Have been in the mood for romance for a while now, so, I mostly remember titles in this genre. π€

If you have watched Delicious Romance, Definitely Not Today, Please Be Family, Small Town Stories, Mr. Hermit, Qing Qing Zi Jin; you would have an idea of how I had envisioned SR who is aware of the wider world, yet retains her innate sense of innocence. While the dramas I have mentioned are different vastly in terms of themes, yet the characters in there are my template for strong yet innocent FLs. The ML of Small Town Stories, Fan Shiqi or the ML from Ripe Town would have better suited A'Zan's character and demeanor. While CZY had really impressed me in the pilot episode, yet in the following episodes, it felt like he had been directed to dial up the charm and overdo the saviour complex which came across as trying too hard. The execution was further ruined by the lingering silences. I, for one, don't mind slow burn romances. Also, I love LJ's performances, yet, here I cannot seem to like her acting at all. I totally blame the direction. It's a crying shame really.
Tell me about it. I have been a fan of all the performances that I have seen of her. I blame the direction. While…
The scenes in the Eastern Country look too languid, no sense of urgency or frenzy. It's almost like they are carrying on in a scenic place cosplaying as journalists and military men. π€·π»ββοΈ
I'm just on ep 2 and I'm not sure I like Liang Jie's acting here. She always seems to be spaced out or day dreaming.…
Tell me about it. I have been a fan of all the performances that I have seen of her. I blame the direction. While reading the novel, I never thought, what a spaz. The problem is LZ and SR don't look battle hardened enough. I am not saying they both ought to swagger their way everywhere, but they must carry themselves in a more self assured manner. I cannot quite explain it but journalists, especially war correspondents, have a certain vibe. For instance, Benjamin feels every of the mercenary he is (maybe a tad too handsome π€). Even SX looks the part of the aggressive puppy like newbie reporter. LZ and SR look a bit more believable when they are in China. π€·π»ββοΈ

The slow burn in the book works. Here, by trying too hard, they ended up messing up the execution of scenes. I, for one, have no issues with a slow burn, but this show ain't it.

P. S. : I started watching this drama because of KSO. Ended up as a fan of both main leads. π
