I kinda guessed from the get go that the younger ones would mostly do the work since they started living independently…
KDY sorta reminds me of myself. Nothing is going to get done unless I take charge, and I cannot just leave things not done. 🤷🏻♀️ P.S.: KDY has been my favourite since his Adolescent Medley days. (One of my first KDrama outings many years ago and I was absolutely surprised by his sheer talent even as a scraggly teenager.)
That Sriracha/hot chilli sauce PPL makes me snigger every time. Oddly fitting given the company made it big in the USA. 🤣 For those interested, it tastes really good and is not spicy at all (and for once I knew a brand from before, LOL.)
Love every single thing you wrote. I think ppl aren’t giving Seyoung and Inwoo enough credit. They’re nailing…
Exactly! Tbh, while I thought NIW has immense potential (afterall he managed to give an absolutely amazing performance in RWTMR inspite of all the odds stacked against that drama), yet, he never came across as lead material if you get my drift.
Here, I cannot think of a better actor to play YS. He absolutely embodies the vulnerability and steadfastness of his character.
LSY has always been excellent especially when she's required to play offbeat characters.
Have always loved GJS since his Veronica Park days... It's a shame he is yet to get a breakout role.
The entire cast of MC is so well chosen. Also, lets not forget the child actors! Such talented munchkins.
Do you know what took me by complete surprise? That the actress for KH's mother can actually act and act well at that! She embodied this deeply flawed, loving individual who ultimately was selfish so dang beautifully. You end up abhorring her choices yet also understand them. You wish she had not been selfish enough to run away and initiated a clean break from KH's father.
I really wished they didn’t make us dislike the mom that suffered domestic abuse. Sad
But it was extremely realistic! I was so taken by surprise as I had assumed that she was going to be all sunshine and rainbows because it is a KDrama. Such women initially tolerate abuse to keep up appearances in interest of their children and their future (especially marriage) but later on become controlling and abusive themselves when their children seemingly go against what they consider proper.
Ending was heartbreaking but necessary. She had to tell him what happened although I’m stumped as to why a teddy…
Exactly! I especially loved how YS was calm and composed without a hint of a tear in his eyes as he said what he said, even as KH burst into sobs. It was an interesting directing choice and so befitting the scene.
I thought the ending of episode 8 could not be topped. But ending of episode 10 overtook it and how. Episode 8 was so exhilarating while episode 10 shattered the viewer's heart into smithereens. Both direction and execution of that last scene was absolutely perfect. Kudos to NIW and LSY. Also, kudos to GJS for the way he displayed this quiet sense of dignity as SE as well as the actor playing their farmer friend. His knowing smile when the female vet realises he is not going to Seoul. The cast is fantastic.
P.S.: It seems not just KH but also her friends needed closure due to their respective circumstances. And her arrival somehow woke them up from their slumber. Before she returned, everyone seems to have been going through the motions of living.
the writer of this show must be on something because what’s that ending? their car didn’t even hit anything…
I actually liked this aspect. It sort of justifies even more why KH was so adamant on leaving that place, even if it meant separating from YS. Traumatic experiences don't just evaporate. There are always triggers and these triggers sometimes may elicit responses as severe as that of KH.
Well when I said that she seemed obsessed with him just because he saved her and was following him like a puppy…
Your comment made me cackle. 🤣 I can understand being obsessed with him for saving her... Even falling in love. But the way she reacted so transparently to his presence is what ticked me off. It seemed so unlikely for someone who reports on war. 😑 Like you, I would have preferred if they had shown her initial interest gradually transform into liking him.
I'm with you here! Amazing, unique drama and I have to say that Angelababy does a good job here. I wasn't convinced…
I remember because I was enjoying it immensely and absolutely loved the FL, while almost everyone else hated it, LMAO. I have a method that I use to figure out whether I'd like a book, a movie or a drama. If most are ranting about things I myself absolutely abhor, I will usually abstain from investing my time in it. Doing so has mostly worked for me. 😁
