And I knew something was up with the military maid when she was given screen time. But SS did well for her first calamity. I guess she needed to experience a loss of someone she knew (atleast it wasn't LF or FD) and death in general since this is where she starts her growth.

The knight saving the damsel scene, BY looked so cool. That was a satisfying kill too. But her not listening to him, stubborn indeed. She has the heart, she really does, just not the skills.

As expected, the arrow and string scene is my fave that I'm hearing things, when BY said "in that case" I heard "Zhao Lusi" 😅

11-12/27 It really is just on the approach of elders, because SS gets along with her 3rd uncle and 3rd aunt. They listen to her so she listens to them too. And I really like the nose thingy with 3rd aunt and SS. Adorbs~

LY is cute, he's like a puppy. I'm looking forward to his scenes with SS too.
And no wonder YS and his guqin was emphasized, SS and strings.

3rd uncle though.. not once, not twice, but really went full Monster Inc. Sully. lol

Yes, and he was even interested when 3rd aunt asked SS about YS, but SS didn't wanna elaborate. lol

BY and his men eavesdropping. lol (I'll call them left and right generals. Right is the one that is always right "whatever young master says" and Left is the "???".) But ouch at BY not checking any boxes of SS's potential husband list.

The bridge scene is here. I remember it being one of the first few reuters. They're cute~ But LY is kinda cute too. Him finding courage after seeing SS. And his brother seems nice, reminds me of Xi-er's brother.

YY communication skills is so awful. SS is not bad, just need a different kind approach. Like old madam Wan said, she didn't even do anything for her daughter. And no, the private convos between YY and her maid does not make her image any better.

But yes to 3rd uncle getting worked up and actually doing the thing SS's dad couldn't. I'm actually really looking forward to just SS, 3rd uncle and 3rd aunt.

9-10/27 Such a good start with soft BY looking again at SS preciously. But lol at uncle Wan not recognizing SS. He's funny, even worse than HC. At least HC hadn't seen BFX before.

And I knew BY won't let that "admiring yet no interest" line die down. For a second there even SS was about to take him seriously. But this was also the scene with the horse, LS must've been so scared since she was really good and fast in WRTW.

The b*tches are here, ugh. Not a historical drama without one or two.
But JY is here too QQ! She's like the cool rich friend. And her dad is fun too, both shading YY's personality and taste. lol

So far CY still isn't awful to SS despite being YY's fave, and SS doesn't resent CY for it. Hope sisterhood won't change esp. with YS around.

Now YS, if he was the ml I would've enjoyed his scenes with SS, he's so shameless making her literally facepalm. lol But for now, SS still has the most pull with BY. The guy who stares at SS like she is the most precious thing. He knows I like tough ml who is only soft to fl (coughsHaoYancoughs).

And I thought the 'admiring for long time, yet no interest' line was gonna be romantic but turns out it was funny. lol Why do I have a feeling that BY won't let that die down because he's both sincere and teasing about it. They're cute~

7-8/27 As I said before, SS was born to the wrong set of parents, omg I love her with 3rd aunt and 3rd uncle. Her not reading the room but barging in instead. lol She's so awkward with 3rd uncle, its so funny. 😂

To think FC tried to kill her before yet they were able to make the transition here into a cute interaction. And the nose thingy with 3rd aunt, she looked so happy and content with the giggles. Like a typical kid coming to the parents room and even legit making herself comfortable between them. lol

Omg same! Not just drama but true crime as well. I'd even go as far as check the cctv or reception/security on who delivered the package. lol

YW did the right thing esp. with her profession.

My fave ep. so far. SS speaking her mind and standing up for herself, even defending LF. She was spitting facts!
And her expressions, she was moved when her brothers protected her, probably the first time someone did as she's only used to relying on herself. At the same time aggrieved that they too were scolded just for siding with her.

The mom is common Asian parent, interpreting a child reasoning out as talking back and being disrespectful. Actually, I'm just gonna call her YY from now on because she doesn't deserve being called SS's mom. I tried to understand her when she was forced to leave SS, but not anymore.

I kinda prefer YY and CY together. That way YY doesn't have the time to nitpick on SS, and SS doesn't need to tiptoe around YY.
It was good seeing SS actually having fun with her father and brothers. How wonderful her childhood must've been if she grew up with them.

6/27 The lantern festival scenes were so pretty. I've never seen that set location before. The shots were really beautiful.

But the fact that this was SS's first festival says a lot about how she was treated growing up. And it was the 3rd aunt that allowed her to go and provided her with pretty clothes. She was born to the wrong daughter in law, should've had 3rd aunt as her mom.

The ml though, did he even breathe while looking at fl. lol He found her~
But same with 2ml and 3ml, they met her too. Like I said previously, chemistry. The science just works with LS and her mls.

Ep. 3's case reminds me of the son of dragon lady of asia, famous politican and judge at the international court of law that also took his own life. He was a law student. And the parents too were "confused" on why he did such a thing.

Ep. 4, RM's dad is nice, doing that even after what his brothers did, esp. after hitting his daughter.

The gift though, YW threw it. lol I mean, I too would not open a suspicious package so, you do you YW~

Ep. 3 was hard to watch, while ep. 4 was cute esp. YW repeating (in tiny) what her dad was expressing. lol

The bffs doing their greeting dab every single time, even in serious situations is so funny.

I was not expecting that at all so it cracked me up. LS's comedic timing is really good.
I'm guessing SS prefers watching her grandma's dramatics from afar, so when the grandma is too close for comfort, she's on fight or flight mode. lol

Speaking of brothers, for me it hasn't been long since Xi-er lost XY so its really nice to see SS with CS and SG.

And yes FC, its what he deserves.

Turns out they both dote on her, and getting angry after knowing how she was treated all these years that CS even went as far as promising her the stars if she wanted them. 😭 (#SanaAll).

I'm warming up to the dad. Him praising SS as wise and clever when she legit advised him not to go to the expedition. lol And him being fine with her destroying the house. 😂

And FC is here, 3rd uncle! Same 3 brothers too but its good to see him have a loving mom and caring wife here. Though the grandma is too much, but still, he's the youngest and actual favorite. I love that for him~
While the princess is still a princess, and still with same unrequited love.

Last but not the least, the mls that I dislike the most are those that can't say no or make up their mind, so BY being resolute is already likable to me. Also, his scenes are all so intense. Even the entrance to the dining hall is intense. lol

5/27 SS in this ep. is so funny. Her yawning the whole time, the judging look at her grandma laughing like an evil witch and the position of her hands as if grandma was a threat. lol But the best part is her choosing the right side on her way out and bumping into her mom, when she could've easily went to the left. 😏😆

SS at the table though, realizing things.. Yes NN! respect is earned not taught.

And at first I thought the brothers will bring SS trouble esp. SG..

The scenes with the mom was quite painful to watch because I dislike that kind of tough love. Being hard on her daughter because of her own expectations while not considering feelings. Its not like SS was like that for fun, she's like that because she had to survive. And ofc the typical comparison with the cousin or neighbor/friend's daughter. The mom's maid had more sense and communication skills.

The grandma and the mom are equally unlikable. The only reason why I don't hate the mom (just yet) is because so far CY is not awful to SS. It would've been way different if she was.

SS's only person, LF is like a combination of SQ and LY's maids. And the scene where CSS asked her mom if she knew her fave food, reminds me of the scene when CQQ burned her hand and told HS he didn't even care about her. Its the cute sulking.

My fave parts are the cp moments. Just the hand and the gazing from afar but I already feel the chemistry. I can't comment on WL because I've only seen one drama of him before and felt nothing in that, but LS is really good with chemistry. The science just works, even when they technically haven't met yet.

The only thing I didn't like was the the grandma's fake crying, got tired of it fast that when it was the part where she was crying for real, it took me seconds to take her seriously. But other than that, it was overall a good pilot. Slow, but that's normal since they're still setting the story. Looking forward to the next eps~

First impression, the ml had such a grand entrance, the exact opposite of fl's humble exit from the village. But both had amazing comebacks, him being heroic after winning the war and her being dramatic after winning against her grandma. lol

4/27 This is my first time seeing LS's character with an actual mother as I'd only ever seen her with a father. But a whole family doesn't mean a happy life. At least SQ, LY and XY were loved by their fathers and brothers, while SS..

The one who "rules" the world is the same, but the HE in the novel is bittersweet in the drama.

The ml in the drama is nice. Not the cunning, calculative and ruthless ml in the novel.

The fl is ml's equal in the novel, but at some point in the drama was just a love interest.
Her love line with other male characters were also cut. In the novel she had a first love and was interested with 3ml.

Personally, the drama didn't make me feel the emotions the novel did. Because the things I considered important in the novel was not in the drama. But even though it disappointed me as an adaptation, I still enjoyed it as a standalone.

Like the author said, her novel and this drama are different.

This is late and you've probably already made a decision, but some different perspective.

Basically, the fl centered novel became ml centered drama.

In general, the fl, 2ml and 3fl are the same from the novel, while the ml, 2fl and 3ml are not.

There are more politics and palace drama than the novel.

Important characters from the novel are changed/cut, replaced by new irrelevant ones.

And the ending..
