i thought i would have enjoyed it a lot more but it just didn't click with me like i wanted it to tbh - i still loveddddd how they transformed the original story (which was crazy in the novel mind you) into a sweet and family-oriented show with a biiiig focus on found family, they also did a great job at getting past the censors with all the innuendos and insinuations thrown in there and the cast themselves were well chosen!
i would still like to see how they adapt book 2 but seeing as it involves the Chinese airforce and military, i doubt its gonna get greenlit unless they make some majorrrrr changes
pavel really ate everyone else up in terms of acting, he really showcased his skills in this! and the way he was styled for the show?? he looked so mfkin FOINNEEE - defs the star of the show
babe and charlie's relationship still felt quite superficial to me by the end but it wasn't too bad because watching their infatuation with eachother was actually kinda entertaining haha and i could say the same with the overall plot as well - i actually love it when shows start off kinda silly or non-serious and then flip the tone and delve into some serious shit and that's exactly what this show did
overall i would classify this as a well-made guilty pleasure - i wasn't expecting to like it but i honestly reallllllyyyy enjoyed it despite its flaws, i just wish they could have made it 15 eps so everything could be fleshed out better and all those loose ends could be tied up
i loved this show! im si wan was fantastic as always, he's such a cutie patootie fr and i love a good underdog story!
i agree with most other comments about seonha's screentime, i feel like the scenes where she is just staring looking pretty could have been replaced by better characterisation for her motives or just cut, giving more time for the 'dragon mask' portion - i also wanted to see what happened to gyeong tae at the end but s2 is confirmed so maybe it'll be shown then? idk
i thought it showed the highs n lows of boyhood pretty well tbh - the social hierarchies at school, first time infatuation that has you actin a fool, fights, friendships etc. it was a fun and enjoyable watch!!!
the scariest bastard isn't the one who hits the hardest, its the one who never goes down
im all for storylines with strong messages of hope, bettering oneself and leaving toxic corporations/workplaces and i thought that this show handled that aspect alright but the main characters themselves were such a snoozefest for me... it got to the point where i was glad this had such a short runtime - i literally had to put on music in the background to keep me from dozing off, which i did twice.
Theres nothing inherently wrong with the story or characters, it was just a tad bit too unengaging. Still liked the overall message tho - fuck them corporations, getcho bag, clock out n live your life, they don't give a rats ass abt you!
this is everything i wanted in a sequel tbh - it keeps the goofiness and comedy of the 1st season yet makes it sentimental enough to the point where you feel like these are real people who have grown and developed, creating their own happiness through found family - LOVED IT
the choreography for the fighting scenes is actually insane - the actress looks sooooo agile, smooth and fluid as she kicks everybody's ass. and the end credits showing everybody doing their own stunts???? i just knowww the film crew's medical staff were TIRED
overall the plot could have been executed better but the action scenes make this 100% worth watching - my only qualm is they don't show what happens to the the lead's adopted brother at the end? is he just on his own? idk
the show is hella ambitious in its attempt to combine a bunch of genres - its got a lil bit of everything! fantasy, romance, action, mystery - you name it! the fantasy romance aspect was so interesting, especially since thai myths n legends go hand in hand with hindu mythology - and i just love plots integrating fate, reincarnation and karma! its weakest link would probably be the police procedural, which was inaccurate and frustrating to watch tbh hahah (wasnt too bad tho)
i kindaaa wish tharn could do more with his ability to see visions of the future but oh well, what can you really do if the vision happens literally minutes before the real event. but i agree that the ending seemed quite sudden and needed a bit more fleshing out
still, good show, ambitious in its attempt at mixing genres and mostly successful at doing so! enjoyed its uniqueness a lot!
i wouldnt pray for this type of situationship on my worst enemy like wooaahh - its cute but the misunderstandings and lack of communication is just nuts...
the ML was boring but i liked it that way - not only was it in character for him, but it really emphasises that he is only here to be ji won's support in her psychological battle against sumin, whose actress absolutely bodied her role. This was a battle between the leading ladies and boy was it entertaining and satisfying!
