I think we're at the point where it's almost always like this. Every ml is a completely devoted doting madly in love saint towards the fl, to such extremes that it's just insanely over the top and it's every single one of them and almost every fl is just... there, her participation in the relationship is a blip at best, that's if she's not actively treating him like dog crap and a doormat rolled into one.

I honestly don't think it was the case even before ep 10's ending, sure compared to this fl because that bar is six feet under but their relationship was for the most part him being there for her as she said herself.

Kdrama writers have well and truly forgotten what romance is, that the most fundamental element is that it's TWO in love and devoted to each other. Because what even are these dramas lately, every ml is profoundly and madly in love, always putting the fl first whether it's over his job, life, anything and everything and almost every fl is giving absolutely nothing, asking for 50-50 is a pipe dream, they're not even doing 80-20.

It's baffling, there's always been an imbalance since romance as a genre is aimed at us as women and that requires a heavy dose of fantasy but they used to try to write a romance as an actual love story instead of just self insert fantasy. The last few years they've dropped that pretense, the last couple of months alone we've had To my beloved thief, Positively yours, Our universe, Practical guide to love, Boyfriend on demand and now this drama and it's the exact same thing.

Every single one of these dramas has a ML that falls almost immediately, he's crazy about FL and would move heaven and earth for her; the FL on the other hand seems exerts the barest of minimum effort and her efforts seem to begin and end with saying thank you for being so obsessed with me I'll maybe let you worship me some more. Every drama has a 2ML that FL spends half her time dating or almost dating while ML loses his mind with jealousy. I don't even know what's the point anymore, if any of these dramas were the other around they'd get canceled expeditiously and anyone looking to watch an actual love story instead of a FL and her perfect robot down bad loser is left with 3 dramas a year.

You gotta love kdramas, whenever a ML breaks up with a FL, even when misguided it's always out of love because he doesn't want her to suffer with/because of him for some hidden reason but most of the time when it's a FL doing the break up it's "me me me".

Which is fine people can break up for any reason but this is fiction? This is supposedly romance? We're meant to be rooting for these people and feeling hurt at their separation but how is this in any shape or form worth rooting for ? If a ml did this we'd be calling for his head. And of course we have to have the love triangle with a 2ML, how else would the audience self insert.

All we get now is love triangles where fl is deciding until ep 10, breakups for no reason, loser in love mls giving a 1000% and geting 2% in return....

Since most people only care about what the ml is doing for the fl and seeing on twitter most of the tag is filled with posts about the ml and how much he's doing for the fl every episode but nothing about the other way around and that's not my thing. If it's not true equality in care and love and actions then I'm not interested tbh.

I don't think it's that, MDL changed the way it calculates ratings a while back where popularity plays a role in it, it's not just the numbers people are actually rating it but also how much engagement there is, watchers, commenters etc so you can notice that most airing dramas ratings tend to fluctuate at the same time because of that.

Most likely, since s1 they gave the spotlight to 3 of the characters backgrounds/stories (ml, fl and Dong gil), this time it's going to be her, the chief and his deceased wife and the new team member. Her mother is obviously their new boss so it'll be interesting to see how they handle it.

Agreed, we are off to a good start, love between lines and this one had great relationships where the fls by the end had given just as much as the mls in terms of effort and love. Let's hope it's a sign of good things to come and we don't go back to "ml does literally everything while fl sits on her hands" kind of dynamic that made up 80% of dramas last year.
