I haven't loved a family kdrama in a long time, I want to watch this but I have a question how's the rlsp between the fl and ml so far? Because usually it takes a long time for feelings to develop between them in 50 ep dramas but I've seen people call the ml a greenflag, has he already fallen for the fl? What are her feelings towards him? I prefer dramas where it's a slowburn and the rlsp is built slowly and they fall for each other just as deeply not just the ml by himself doing everything.

You're right that it should be the case for every drama but for some reason it almost never happens, only in very few dramas like LBFAD, Fated Hearts, Blossom etc. I was hoping it would happen here too but it's looking like that's not the case.

She is his lifeline and I love that but I hope in the drama they truly show she loves him as much as he does, not only because that's the best kind of love story but also because he's been through more than hell, he deserves someone who loves him that much not just enough.

Yeah well I didn't know about the step mother dying tomorrow I'm just saying this is how it usually goes when the ml finds out about the fl going through something like this. It would've been nice to see the fl for once do it. Is there at least scenes/moments where she's very protective of him and ready to do anything to make sure he's safe and/or scenes in general that show she loves him as much as he loves her?

That's so late, I hope it's more explicit in the drama. If this was the other way around in any drama and the fl was SA'd the ml would find out and lose it and make them pay. I wish we'd get something similar here even if it's just her finding out about his suffering in general and being ready to burn the world for him.

I'm confused, what are these kdramas where the fl falls first and then chases the ml for episodes while treats her coldly? That hasn't been a trend in years, now we get the exact opposite for most dramas. The mls almost always fall first and not only that but they do 90% of the work in the relationship right until the end even when the fl herself falls.

A lot of people seem to like it in general, they get second lead syndrome, they love the ml getting jealous. It plays right into the fantasies of 2 hot men fighting over them and a man losing his mind bc he's so jealous over them and that's the majority of people it seems.

I think that's part of it, it's an easy narrative device to add conflict without really adding conflict, plus it adds to the fantasy they're trying to sell, 2 guys fighting over the fl, the ml getting jealous etc

I'm a woman and I'm tired of it. I don't need to pretend 2 guys are fighting over me through the FL, they're fictional characters so just give me a good story and dynamic.

We're doing the love triangle for the millionth time it seems and why is it always a triangle with a 2ML, at least change it up a bit. Also you only have 12 episodes we don't have time for this nonsense. Just give us heartwarming family dynamics and romance.

Can I ask what you mean by greenflag in this context? That he's a good person or that he already likes FL and is doing things for her?

Yeah and that person is somehow always the ML, and again even in scenarios where it's the FL that has everything they find ways to make the ML show how much he loves her, they could put him in danger and have her risk her life to save him, the chicken thing (lol) that's an example too, or so many other things, have her make him something as a token, be determined to be with him despite the perils etc there aren't things she can do for him because the writers aren't creating those moments. It's literally make believe they can make up whatever they want.

My dearest she had the higher status at first and they found a million things for ML to do for her, there are so many other examples too. All this to say I wish we could see her show her love with actions and words, even half of what he's done so far because for me a love story, at least a good one requires equal devotion and sacrifice from both sides regardless of status outside the relationship and it sucks that this falls in the category of "down ml does everything" because the writing otherwise is great.

I'm not saying she should be declaring her love but her actions aren't even 1/10th of his actions, there are so many ways they could show she loves him without her being with him and still having those doubts same as he's doing, even without the moments where he's proposing etc all he does is in service of protecting her and wanting her to be happy, she could be shown to do the same it's a matter of whether the writers want to or not and these writers seem like they're not interested in that side of it.

Of course we're doing the requisite love triangle with ML and 2ML fighting over FL and acting like children because they're both obsessed with her while she's clueless because do kdrama romcoms know how to do anything else.

I'm putting this on pause until I see how the rest goes, I don't really do down bad ML making all the effort by himself anymore, if they're not both as into each other, why should I care.

Oh I know you're not I'm just commenting on the writing and how one sided their relationship has been so far, she certainly doesn't owe him anything but this is a love story and so far he's the only one who seems very much in love, I would need her to step up her game A LOT for me to feel like she really loves him and buy into the romance but the writers seem to be hellbent on keeping this with him doing everything. Like yeah everyone keeps praising how romantic he is but I wonder if it was the other way around would people be praising her or wondering why the ml is not doing anything.

Yeah but like you said that's not him it's his brother and considering just how much he's done and sacrificed her, it's more than nice he was ready to die for her and has done so much more for her since the start, the least she can do is not blame him for his brother's sins, let's be real she's not really doing anything else for him is she...

I mean he literally took an arrow she shot and almost died so he could save her and her family so... That's the very least she can do.

When did this happen? Towards the start or middle? Because I asked and people told me their relationship becomes mutual and equal once they get together (towards ep 24) but the way you're describing it "he spent 10 episodes doing everything for her" seems like the usual cdrama nonsense...

Agreed about 2ML, having gone through things isn't an excuse to be an awful person, I don't ship him with the FL but he's an interesting complex character and in fiction that's all he needs to be. As for the leads I like them but I don't believe they have always been there for one another, so far it's only been ML and I hope FL really steps ups her game though I don't think she will.

Thanks for the detailed answer, you're right I don't need them to be equal in status but rather in their love for each other and how much they support and care for one another which does not seem to be the case here at all unfortunately. It seems the ML is a lot more invested and doing the lion's share of the care because all I see talked about is how much he's doing for her and how romantic it is and the other way around is crickets. I like my FLs to not only be badasses and equal in their standing but also making as much effort and loving as hard as their male counterparts.
