I prefer the '84 version over this version but...

I really prefer the '84 version over this version because it felt kinda fake like I could totally tell those were computer generated effects lol. It was scarier than the '84 version and less funny imo but it's still a great adaptation and definitely worth watching (minus the bad CGI).

Story: I absolutely loved this story. One of Jin Yong's best works to me. It's basically about a guy who wanders around and gets like a bunch of girls because of his cleverness and humor. He eventually becomes best friends with the king. The villain in this drama was really scary. Great story: a mix of humor, romance, suspense, and history. This drama stayed true to the novel.

Acting/Cast: DICKY CHEUNG'S ACTING SKILLS ARE ON FLEEK. It was great, I love him so much!! He rocks every role in wuxia dramas I just love his acting. The emperor is good too. And not to mention there's ATHENA CHU AND RUBY LIN. Can we just take a moment to rethink this? Ruby Lin, at the peak of her youth, is so pretty and she's cheerful in the drama. She's the princess while Athena Chu is the beautiful girl that Dicky Cheung goes all heart eyes over. There's so much chemistry between everyone and literally they're so attractive (all of them) and versatile.

Music: It's so catchy oh my ahah

Rewatch Value: Hmmm,...... Maybe, but there are more Dicky Cheung wuxia dramas when he was younger though (during his TVB days).

Overall: 1000000000/10 honestly. I just loved Dicky Cheung, wuxia, and Athena Chu like what could beat this?

So entertaining and heart warming!

This drama was so entertaining lol. It's so cute, funny, and just omg ahaha this is so adorable!! It's the perfect drama if you're just out of dramas to watch and decide to watch something to kill time. Or if you just finished a depressing drama, watch this. After I watched Cruel City, I was so out of it and disappointed by the ending.. So I decided to watch this since it had good reviews and looked pretty cheerful. IT IS WHAT YOU SEE ON THE COVER.

Story: Oh my goodness... this author.. just.. oh man. He/She made this so dramatic in the beginning and from that dramatic chaos just turned it into a hilarious story. This is such a fun drama. The ending was PERFECT and it flowed perfectly. The pacing is a bit slow, imo it should have only been 14 episodes if it was the right speed, but it was still enjoyable.

Acting/Cast: Han Groo... man I just love her. She's so weird it's so funny. She turned Woo Jin's mother into this chaotic person lol. You can pretty much say she ruins everyone's 'proper' image haha. I watched this for So Hee to be honest heh. She's so pretty. Jeongmin was good. Sunhwa's acting was pretty good I don't know why people didn't like it since her role didn't require much and wasn't even hard. Jin Woon is so attractive. His smiles look kinda fake but it's funny.

Music: Listen to Love Lane.

Rewatch Value: I would rewatch this if another drama ruins my mood

Overall: It's not the best drama out there nor is it the type of drama you would take as your first priority but it is very enjoyable and perfect for I guess post drama depressions haha. Don't take this drama too seriously. It's so fun. Loved it and again, I recommend it as a mood booster :)

So sad and heart wrenching...

I don't really know why the rating for this drama is a 7.6 but it was really good. Before you start watching though, let me warn you that you're gonna cry a river.

Story: It's so depressing and sad and heartbreaking... The ending sucked but eh I wasn't too iffy about it because I kinda expected it. I didn't understand why the main character didn't/ couldn't do anything to help his love... I felt like this drama wasn't really that realistic and some parts I can certainly argue against. This drama was original (sorta) and definitely different from the kdramas you see now. Definitely a classic kdrama.

Acting/Cast: Great acting. Not much to say.

Music: THE MUSIC MAKES YOU WANT TO CRY HARDER.

Rewatch Value: Nah not trying to bawl my eyes out lol...

Overall: I recommend this if you wanna watch something depressing and cry your eyes out. Welcome romance lovers, tragedy lovers, and melodrama lovers. On an extra note, it was so depressing that my head was legit hurting afterwards. I'm not a usual tragic story watcher.

Ehh...

Story: Ehhh... Not original imo. The main focus was romance so if you like romance then here, but I never cried once in this drama. Story was boring and romance was quite boring. Didn't feel any chemistry here. Both leads' characters were annoying.

Acting/Cast: A lot of people told me that Hye Sun is really good in this drama but her acting bugged me. She cried way too much and way too loud. That was unnecessary. She overreacts imo. Not a fan.

Music: Eh

Rewatch Value: Eh, no.

Overall: Eh, tbh, just eh. You might like it if you're a hardcore melodrama and romance lover? For me it's a pass. Not an awful drama though.

Honestly, idk why the reviews are so negative.. stop complaining about the story omg. anyways, moving on here's my review:
Story: 9.5/10 Personally, I, myself, love wuxia dramas (ancient ones) and so that is probably why I like Jin Yong's stories. I thought the story was cleverly written and it's not really a Romeo and Juliet story.. I can see where you're coming from but it's more of a wuxia romance tbh.
Acting/Cast: 7.5/10 The acting was okay... I prefer the 83 version over this. I watched this for the two main leads but mainly because I'm a fan of Liu Yi Fei. Her acting is good and the guy lead was good too but the other characters were just okay. I don't really like some of the choreography because it wasn't as natural looking as the ancient dramas.
Music: nothing notable tbh.
Rewatch Value: 6.5/10 to be honest, I would only rewatch this to watch Liu Yi Fei.
Overall: 8.5/10 it's pretty decent. not bad. I like the 83 version better though.

Good drama.

Story: This story is well written! There's no plot holes with the perfect flow and all of the events tie together. It's been a while since I've watched this but all I can say was it was really good! The pacing of this is PERFECT. There's none of that dragging stuff that some Korean and Chinese dramas do. They get right into the story and into the point so all 31 episodes are worth it. Put your remote down because you won't even need to fast forward through any parts and if you do, you'll probably miss a huge hint of the events that happen later..

Acting/Cast: Sheren Tang is back! I've always liked her ever since HSDS 1986. The other cast are awesome as well.

Music: They're good, you should check some out.

Rewatch Value: Definitely.

Overall: I recommend.

Get a box of tissues ready!

Story: I don't usually watch dramas like this (with the spirits and all) so that's why I skipped the parts where the spirits came out of people. That was kinda creepy. The plot was really good and original though. Get a box of tissues because it got me crying loads of tears over and over again! A truly touching masterpiece.

Acting/Cast: Simply amazing.

Rewatch Value: Hmm.. idk maybe. If I do rewatch, then I will skip through the spirit parts.

Overall: I recommend. It's a must watch.

Wow, this drama is a masterpiece.

Story: I loved it. There was never a moment when I was bored and it was indeed a very well written story. The villain really was impressive. In this drama, I cried, laughed, and felt anxious. It was like a rollercoaster ride. There is suspense, romance, and lastly, A GOOD ENDING! The romance was NOT too much! It was perfect. There was a balance of everything. One of the kdramas I've watched that did not disappoint. And I mean it. It deserves a 10. Good pacing too! Everything is connected, no plotholes!! I'm usually a fan of HongKong dramas due to their fast pacing and great actors/actresses but this kdrama lived up to all of my standards. Definitely a must watch. Needless to say more? PERFECTION.

Acting/Cast: Even though, Lee Bo young & Jong Suk aren't the best couple imo, they definitely acted beautifully!

Music: Ooooh, the feels.

Rewatch Value: I will watch this drama again sometime but I already have recently so it'll a while until then.

Overall: This well written masterpiece deserves NO LESS THAN a PURE 10/10. Must watch. I definitely recommend.

This drama had so much potential but it failed.

Honestly.. I don't know what to say about this drama.. it disappointed me big time. The whole entire drama leads to such an anticlimactic ending.. imo this drama had so much potential but it failed. I actually watched this drama because I had just finish triangle and fell for Jaejoong's acting.

Story: The drama was SO INCREDIBLY slow and draggy for 8 episodes and the 'rising action' didn't cut it for me.. Some events/scenes were so unnecessary and it just didn't flow. The last 8 episodes got faster and the last few (14-16) were SO RUSHED and skipped so many scenes! And the ending.... REALLY? Overall, no! This drama doesn't cut it for me. It just didn't flow and the 'main problem' could have been made interesting but they made it too predictable. This drama never even had a chance to redeem itself.

Acting/Cast: THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS DRAMA WAS THE CAST. The mother, Young Seo, Yoon Jin, father, Sun Woo-- basically everyone was good and convincing. Excellent cast! But unfortunately the plot and writing wasted their talents. However, I could see their amazing acting (the only thing that kept me trying to finish it)

Music: Meh. it was whatever.

Rewatch Value: Nah. Unless I miss Jaejoong acting as a spy lol

Overall: I don't think it's 'trash' but if you're wanting a drama like triangle don't watch it bc your hopes will be ruined lol. I guess it was nice to watch Jaejoong as a spy? Fanservice?? Overall, no. This flopped; huge pass.

I watched this because I'm a fan of GOT7.

This drama was really cute though.
Whoa, didn't know the main girl was 28 years old... Geez, she looks so young like 19ish.

Story: Lol, so cliche. The concept of knights in this drama was so cute haha. The dolls were cute. I REALLY like the trailer though. The music and everybody looked so good. Anyways, the drama was kinda boring but it was cute.

Acting/Cast: Their acting were okay tbh it's more about their looks. The girl was kinda good I guess? Not really? Idk... Don't really think I could take this drama that serious haha.

Music: There was music?! Man.. I need to focus more LOL

Rewatch Value: Eh, only for fan service. I wouldn't rewatch it unless I wanted to see them together or see GOT7 act together.

Overall: It was ok. It's enjoyable bc you get to look at them act and they're so attractive. The ending didn't bother me much because it was just a fun drama.

Masterpiece— played to perfection.

This has possibly got to be the BEST historical cdrama I’ve watched in such a long time.

Story: This masterpiece has TRULY been written to perfection. The storyline is so complex and incorporates almost every historical element there is— romance, betrayal, war, schemes, selfishness, and exploitation. This was marked a tragedy so I honestly did not want to watch it. However, the synopsis seemed to keep pulling me in so I gave this a chance. I honestly am so glad I gave this drama the chance it most definitely deserved.

From the beginning I was hooked. Throughout the drama I was also hooked. However, the drama was quite extra from eps 40ish where Gu Jian has screentime with XF. It wasn’t necessary to have in the plot and while I understand that it gave GJ his wish and gave some justice to his character— it felt unneeded to me. As for the ending, each character had their proper closure. XF realizing that protecting her nation and her people was the most important thing to her was truly touching considering how she never seemed to understand this before. LCY does not deserve XF by his side forever and this justification perfectly mirrors his father’s situation with Mingyue. The similarities between LCY and his father and his discoveries regarding his father was the biggest thing I took from this drama. It is extremely interesting to watch and discover these. I didn’t shed a tear even though this drama was sad. This was also one of the rare cases where the ending didn’t make me sulk. It was simply played to mere perfection.

Acting/Cast: XF was wonderful. Xiao Ran played this to perfection as she displayed all sides to XF— playful, strong willed, stubborn, innocent, and most importantly, her pain in not being able to actually hate the one who pretty much isolated her from all of her loved ones. LCY was played to perfection. He was such a jerk that I hated him. But I felt for him because of his circumstances. I hated him. Then I felt for him again. In the end I still hated him but STILL pitied him. Bravo. The supporting roles all did great. Extremely strong cast.

Music: Intended to break hearts.

Rewatch: Needless to say? 10/10.

Overall: Please give this a chance despite it being a tragedy. Sometimes the best dramas don’t have happy endings. This drama reminded me once again that a great drama doesn’t have to have a happy ending. It just needs to be reasonable and cohesive with the entire story. I wholeheartedly RECOMMEND.

Err.. so I actually watched this right after watching the korean movie Blind and this review is basically comparing those two movies lol.

Story: This story was great. It was well written and I actually prefer this version over the korean version because it explained things better and was more clear. This movie is very easy to follow along with and is a no brainer when it comes to comprehension. I like how they portrayed the story here.

Acting/Cast: I don't understand why people are saying the acting in here is awesome? Their acting was basic and I did not feel attached at all. The acting in the korean movie is way better, but their acting is ok. just ok.

Music: Meh

Rewatch Value: This movie is pretty good but I won't rewatch this even though it's less scarier than the korean version.

Overall: Overall, I recommend this drama if you're looking for a decent thriller/crime movie. If you're a frequent thriller watcher, skip. Romance lovers, skip.

Story: 9/10 It's just about police officers and guns and shooting and crimes. It's really interesting though. I don't really find the story that special but read the synopsis on mydramalist.
Acting/Cast: The main guy (I forgot his name) is just pure talent. He is such a great actor. He's so quick in pace and honestly they're all good. I like Kate Tsui, she's so pretty and such an amazing actress. Anyways, the strongest point of this drama was the acting.
Music: 9/10 it was nice
Rewatch value: 9/10 sure
overall: I think this is worth watching if you love crime, suspense, or balanced out between love and action dramas.

I started this drama right after I finished General and I and was in awe at Gan Ting Ting's acting and looks. I also like Zhu Yi Long from Border Town Prodigal. I felt so-so about Kevin Yan.

Story: umm.. first of all, when I finished this show my first thought was wtf? The ending is horrid and actually really stupid. It almost felt irrelevant to the entire show and that they wanted to just end the story and call it a show. Second of all, so many plot holes... so many unanswered questions... they didn't address everything and didn't wrap it up well AT ALL. Third of all, the romance is usually the saving factor for a bad drama but for this drama I finished it because of visuals LOL. The romance is A W F U L. The love triangle gets on my nerves the wrong way. Kevin Yan's character excels at pushing his girl away to another man and Gan Ting Ting's character has like, 2 brain cells. It's just a disaster. I really could not fathom their thought processes. The only character in the show that has some sort of sense in her is Si Niang. The rest were, um, fanatics.

Acting/Cast: The cast was the reason I watched; visuals are nice. Acting... well... with such an awful plot the actors and actresses can only do so much if I had to be honest.

Music: Girl, no.
Rewatch Value: LOL are you joking
Overall: I DON'T recommend it. Go watch something else. Really. Unless you're like me and wanted to watch for a certain actress/actor...

Set in the 50s

So, I don't have much to say about this drama but this was a rather nice drama to watch. The story was okay. The synopsis that MDL provides is pretty self explanatory and sufficient for you to decide if you want to watch it or not. This is indeed a historical set in the 50s. The acting is so natural and really good. I love the pacing of this story. There aren't any plot holes at all. The music is pretty good and I would rewatch this. Overall, I really think that this is good drama and it's worth watching. I recommend this to people who are historical lovers.
