I still haven't finished, but based on these 15 episodes I have seen this is definitely my cup of tea. I desperately need more fantasy dramas like this one, with reincarnation & immortality themes. These days we mostly get zombie dramas and while they're okay, I miss this type of fantasy.

I love how everything is connected & how we don't get the whole story until the last episode. Usually when they reveal everything earlier in the drama I get bored with later episodes and just want it to end, but that's not the case here. Also, the MUSIC! This is one of the best OSTs out there, there are so many good songs. It's also visually stunning, especially scenes of the past (600 years ago).

Also, I admit I was reluctant to watch this because I wasn't a fan of Lee Jin Wook (in a sense that I didn't know who he was and I mostly pick dramas based on MLs) but he completely won me over! I don't know if I'm the only one but he reminds me of Yang Se Jong so much (or the other way around) 👀. It's like watching the more masculine version of him & their expressions are so similar! But anyways, he was really good in this role, Kwon Na Ra as well. I love how their relationship progressed and they look amazing together.

All in all, 9/10.

That game in which Karube and Chota died is one of the most ingenious things I've seen in dramas/movies of this type & Yamazaki Kento's acting in that specific episode was amazing. When they started hiding from Arisu I really thought they would beat the game and survive but well... let's just say I was dumbfounded.

I knew starting this while it's still airing would be a mistake. I enjoyed watching it so much and now I have to wait for new episodes 😩

Also, I'm living for the dynamics between Cha Young Min and Ko Seung Tak, they're such a fun duo!

Kang Cheong Ya survived and escaped tho. They could've let other two escape as well, if Soo Ho had to die anyway.

The point is they killed everyone I actually liked and characters I hated survived lol, that's why I don't actually like the ending even though I don't mind tragic endings.

I'm still not sure how I feel about that ending. If Soo Ho had to die they could've left other two spies alive. Killing all of them was just too cruel 😭

They did manage to make me cry so kudos for that, I guess. I think I would've liked it more if Young Ro died together with Soo Ho. I find it easier to accept when lovers die together, it's tragic but at least they stay together even in death. And the fact that his life was already painful, that he got betrayed both by his mother and father, and then sacrificed himself so that everyone else could live is just .... too much to think about 🙃

First 5-6 episodes were 10/10 but then it got a bit repetitive and draggy, and the ending felt too rushed, in a sense that it left many things unexplained.

Jung Hae In is one of my favorite actors so I started this because of him and he did not disappoint. The man can take any role and make it his own. Generally speaking, acting on all sides was really good.

Considering everything, one thing I CANNOT forgive them is giving Boon Ok a happy ending. I wanted her dead. She should be dead, idc.

All in all, it was good but it could've been better. 16 episodes was too much for a plot revolving only around this hostage situation. 8.5/10 from me.

What Bezdurakov said. I'm from Europe and most of the time it was trending in no. 3 (in the beginning) or no. 4 (later).

EDIT: for your MDL rating to count you have to put you've watched at least 8 episodes. Just having it in your "currently watching" list on 0 episodes doesn't count (I think) 😅

On MDL. I'm not sure about iQIYI and how they measure things. I know it was around no. 4 in trending and no. 1 in popularity while it aired, now it's no. 7 and no. 3. A lot of ppl already finished watching it so that's why it dropped, I guess.

You need to watch at least 1/5 of the show for your rating to count btw. I'm not sure if people here are aware of that.

Yeah. I did say we can't judge and conclude that their relationship is bad based on one scene. Him being so close to GL would make more sense if they also showed us how close GL and GYY are in private life, but I didn't get that impression (except few times); most of the time they didn't look too close. We've been told that they're best friends, yes, but nothing in their behaviour at that point was convincing. But that's just me, others may have different opinions.

I was really happy for the few Gu family shots we got in the last episode. Shooting sequences were also fun; can't help it, I'm weak for men in uniforms & with guns 🙈

They managed to wrap it up nicely. I'm glad I wasn't disappointed as far as the ending goes. AT had great potential and while they didn't deliver completely, I can't say I didn't enjoy watching it. It had some really great moments/episodes and I was moved to tears several times which happens rarely so kudos for that.

Actually, after watching ep. 39 I think people are giving too much meaning to Gu Xiao Fei's words. While it wasn't the most appropriate thing to say I can see why he would've thought that injuries are unlikely (conversation between Zheng Yuan and the other guy clearly indicated that) + he's a teenage boy (usually not the most sensible) + it seemed more like an offhand comment. Also, we haven't been shown much of their interactions and who knows if some of their scenes were cut.

I'm just saying we can't judge his feelings about GYY based on that one scene. I do wish they would show us some positive interactions between the two tho. It's kinda ridiculous how GL has more scenes with the kid than his own stepfather.

I don't like how they went off the charts with dramatics in this episode (the guy who jumped into the sea was an IDIOT who almost got both GL and GYY into trouble but everyone, including GYY, was amazed by his act 🤦‍♀️) + the whole clapping thing for GL and JNZ was just absurd. Idk. I hope the last episode won't continue this bad trend because I honestly enjoyed previous episodes.

I've seen some spoilers and lost the will to watch ep. 39 😐

The ending left me with a bitter taste but anything "fluffier" wouldn't make sense and would dilute the message they tried to convey. 9.5/10 from me.

Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Seung Won were beyond amazing in these roles.

If we see it as a summary of the plot it's good, but I found the whole situation 'funny' because we complained about the original synopsis that revealed who JNZ ends up with in the end and this one reveals even more information. And yeah, I know how it looks on IMDb but I guess I got used to MDL summaries.

I hope I didn't offend you btw, it wasn't my intention. Just found it a bit funny, that's all.

The way Li Shao Bing and Song Jian She conspired to rescue Red Army's prisoners LOL. I admit I didn't expect that and even though it had no real impact on the battle it was an interesting detail.

Also, GYY's smirk when he said he poisened the food, he's so conniving and I love it. I have a feeling they're gonna screw him over tho, there's no way Niu Mancang spilled important information just like that. It's iffy.

His acting in One Ordinary Day is beyond great. I'm really impressed.

Ep. 36 & 37 were something else, I enjoyed every second. Gu Yiye, master strategist and tactician! Watching his team in action was delightful, from sneaking into the enemy territory, gathering intelligence, capturing Niu Mancang, poisoning their water reservoir to disguising themselves as fishermen and infiltrating (LOL). Every move was so smart. I felt bad for GL in the beginning when observation team kept interfering and making decisions without asking him. But, he's holding on. Although, it would be disappointing if he ends up winning in the end after everything GYY accomplished so far.

Just watching soldiers in action would be enough for me, but the whole rivalry thing between GYY and GL makes it even more interesting.
