From what I know about GYY - they didn't really go into full detail for why he left (might have been edited out).…
Yeah, I understood the part with incompetent soldier who caused the accident but the whole thing about GYY leaving was kinda convoluted, IMO. Stepping down after being suspended makes sense tho, thanks!
Also, the scene where he takes out his uniforms and just breaks down was so good! I genuinely felt like crying ðŸ˜
can i ask a question? i have already voted this drama 10 stars because i want to support xz who did an amazing…
It's not that I don't understand your point of view but I don't think asking others how to rate this drama is the best move, especially here. It's also because of comments like this that people don't take fans' ratings seriously. iQiYi, those who made this drama and those responsible for the changes you mentioned don't care about MDL ratings anyway.
Good ratings will make more people interested in watching which will introduce XZ to more people, but if you don't like the drama then don't rate it 10. That's my opinion, but you do you.
I finally caught up with new episodes! I have to say, I really enjoyed the last two episodes. The comradery and friendship between GYY, GL and JNZ finally feels real. The acting was also really good on all sides, GL's breakdown, JNZ' struggles to support him and GYY's distress over leaving army were all believable and very well acted. However, the whole thing about cashiering GYY was kinda ??? Did he decide to leave on his own or was he forced by his superiors? I didn't understand that part the best. It seemed like he wanted to take responsibility and leave but other people's conversations about it confused me. Also, the way he just accepted it was weird, to say the least.
I can FINALLY say I like GL as a character. As soon as he started doing his own thing and stopped sticking his nose in other people's business he became more likeable. BUT, the part where he broke up with JNZ after getting better was just dumb. Why break up with her after getting better and returning to the military? If he had some good reason they failed to show it.
We finally know why GYY fainted and how he injured his arm in earlier episodes. Actor who played Zhao Hongliu revealed some things in his Weibo post so if someone's interested you can read it here: https://twitter.com/xiaozhvns/status/1478569704339824647?s=20
There are spoilers for later episodes in there so those who haven't caught up with recent episodes should be careful.
What they did to GL and GYY was unfair so I won't rant about GL even though I would like to. Giving him hope like that and then saying he won't be able to go to the Academy after all was a dick move and I can understand why he reacted the way he did. HOWEVER, what I do want to say is that I can't believe they're actually trying to sell us "best friends" narrative. Nothing in the behaviour of those two shows that they even like each other, let alone that they are (best) friends. If GL thought of GYY as a friend, he wouldn't talk about him the way he does, he wouldn't try to steal his girlfriend, he wouldn't pick on him in front of others; and on the other side I don't see much love for GL on GYY's part either. To me it looks like he considers him to be a nuisance. They may be comrades but there is no way that anyone can convince me that they're best friends (like JNZ said in one of the previous episodes). I actually wish they focused more on developing their relationship instead of pointing out their differences and pitting them against each other.
A good way to show how depraved human beings are if left unchecked.
I loved the main couple, both as individuals and as a couple. Their dynamics and relationship development were a breath of fresh air among the wickedness of most of the other characters.
Agreed. Gao Liang finally had some true character development and he truly was self-sacrificng this time. He acted…
I was confused becase he said he was with Niu Mancang but later they showed Mancang with GYY. And if Mancang returned before him, others should've known from him that GL was alive. I'm confusing myself now 🤣
Yeah, that scene with GYY was so heart wrenching. You could literally FEEL the pain.
Ep. 18 & 19Huh, a lot to take in. I love how raw and tragic these two episodes were. Gao Liang finally did something…
Also, I hope Niu Mancang isn't the only one who survived from that group that shared the same room with GL and GYY. He's the only one that returned but I hope some of them are just injured and not dead :/
Ep. 18 & 19 Huh, a lot to take in. I love how raw and tragic these two episodes were. Gao Liang finally did something to make me like him. How he decided to sacrifice himself for others was really admirable, but I don't like the way they made him jump off the cliff and survive almost unscathed. That was way too unrealistic. They could've found some other way for him to survive and come back. But that's not on him. Also, Johnny Huang's acting in that scene was really good.
Gu Yiye! 😠I almost cried when he had a breakdown after Zhang Fei's death. It was so raw and emotional and Xiao Zhan did amazing! I was a bit annoyed at him when he refused to obey the orders (they are in a war!), it was petulant, but knowing that he's aware of his own faults and that he can't stop thinking about them and blaming himself makes him a lot more likable in my eyes. I hope he'll be able to overcome what happened and use that experience to grow.
Also, I'm a bit confused about the timeline. What they showed after Gao Liang's return happened before he returned or after? Did the war last for 6 months and no one knew he survived?
And also, that whole patriotic performance with flags when they were leaving in trains and Gu Yiye and A Xiu followed after them was impressive. I really like how it was shot! Generally speaking I'm impressed by how well shot some of the scenes are, and how visually beautiful they are. I definitely didn't expect that.
I have to admit, I did feel that he was asking for a beating in ep 13.EDIT since I figured you had written another…
You're right. I just assumed they would become friends after months of training and living together, but I guess they're going another route. Maybe I watch too much bromance so my expectations for their friendship were high 😂. Either way I'm looking forward to see how it develops.
Gao Liang has acted childishly all this while. While I really doubt whether he has wrong thoughts, his childish…
Yeah. I actually thought we were being too harsh on him and that he's actually nice but circumstances make him look bad but then episode 13 happened and he acted like a complete ass. I seriously hope you're right. I'm tired of his antics.
Throughout the ep. 13 I just wanted to beat up Gao Liang tbh. The ending of the episode and ep. 14 made it better…
I still don't like him. Are he and Gu Yiye supposed to be friends? Like yeah, they meet and talk sometimes but their interactions don't seem friendly at all. In the beginning it seemed like there would be some rivalry and comradery that will develop into real friendship but so far I don't think their relationship improved at all. I'm kinda disappointed not gonna lie. I hope things will improve once they face real danger together.
Also, the scene where he takes out his uniforms and just breaks down was so good! I genuinely felt like crying ðŸ˜

Why is Gao Liang so annoying? 😠I'm really trying to like him but he's so irksome. I know we should've been touched when he borrowed money from everyone to buy dresses for Nanzheng but I wasn't impressed at all. Zhang Fei and his fiancée were so cute though! Their interactions, and interactions between him and Gu Yiye were so precious. I wonder whether he'll die by sacrificing himself for Yiye? That would make sense.
