Wow... you should be a psychotherapist... this is so deep... I definitely agree with you that he has deep trauma wounds. But, usually, people with these types of traumas don't have confidence to be masterminding and negotiating deals with other people on the back-end. If anything, they would do things alone , but not be leading a coordinated effort they could play a game chess but that's one-on-one with another person, they don't have to depend on others to carry out the strategy it's all on their own. If they don't have confidence, they can't convince other people that their plan will work so no one would support them. This is why his character doesn't add up for me.

No need to worry U-Chan.. I still think he's the most suitable one for XY so that doesn't change my mind. (side note: what's important for me is how actor's portray their characters/roles. I loved DW the most in Miss the Dragon because I found his portrayal of the character to be the most memorable from that drama vs Dylan's... Separately, Dylan has redeemed himself with LBFAD. So I liked Deng Wei in Miss the Dragon very, very much.)

Agreed... TBH, I blame him coming across as weak/passive on the production team and how they portrayed him. They made him look that way throughout the first half of this season... He could have come across as nice, sincere, prudent, but not indecisive/unsure of himself and seemingly always seeking approval from XY via his pleading eyes. If he's a master strategist, than he needs to have some confidence in his demeanor, IMHO.

Nah... he needs a catalyst or he'll just rest on his laurels.

the horse scene just did it for me... more so than furballl... I am a hopeless romantic that lives vicariously through the characters in fantasy stories.. IRL, I would be staying a mile away from bad boys like XL/FFB 😄

Ugh... that is really a shame. I wonder why the director/producers decided to dumb down his character. He just comes across puppy eyed, hen-pecked... Seems the drama is following the novel closely so they should stay true to the characters.

Ok, looking forward to his character development... since he's in love with XY he should get on Xuan's good side assisting him with building out his empire so this TSJ-XY couple can be together.... keep it all in the family. And, my poor XL will just be on the other side remaining steadfast and loyal to the rebels....

Yes, he has beautiful voice both speaking and in singing.... First, fell in love with his voice (and acting) in Secrets of the Three Kingdoms.
