I’m sorry but do you even know what queer baiting actually is bc neither of those two are that.
Yes, it is something that is mostly known in aroace circles, and as an asexual person myself whose ideal relationship is a QPR, I think it would be great rep if they leaned into the queer aspects more and made it explicit. 'Explicit' being an important part here or it is in fact just bait.
No one who's been arguing here today has said "every drama with two male main leads MUST be BL," please…
I'm not denying those kinds of comments exist, but none of the comments I have seen HERE in this comment section from today has argued anything of the sort. At least not yet. I also do not agree with spreading any hate for the actors. Their wishes of not wanting to do BL should be respected 100% I don't have a problem with that. My issue lies entirely in GMMTV's marketing. Please see mine as well as Lady_Kexing's comments below.

(My bad, I wrote it wrong, it's queerplatonic in one word. Got confused by English grammar)
The way you are describing their platonic love IS queerplatonic because it deviates from the "norm" of both friendships and romantic relationships, which would in fact make it queer. Please look up what queerplatonic actually means because it's not just queer + platonic, it can really be anything, but if you are going for a queerplatonic story, it needs to be explicitly stated imo.

GMMTV could at the very least not lean this heavily into their queerbait marketing to appeal to THE AUDIENCE, as you put it. What you're describing seems more like a queer platonic relationship, which I am all for, but then they need to make it explicit that that is what it is. They should just explicitly make it queer in that case.

My problem has always been with the MARKETING from GMMTV. There are absolutely ways of making a series about a platonic friendship between two men, but this is not it, unfortunately. Not to mention there are also ways to make it explicitly queer without making it a BL. If you can show me a platonic series/pair between a man and a woman that is being marketed in the exact same way, that would be a different story, but you and I both know that's not the case.
Wonder why that is. /s
To me the marketing feels like BL Lite™ to the point where it really bothers me. I also don't mind that certain actors don't want to do BL, that's fully within their rights and should be respected, but why then make it anything but a one-time thing? If it's just this one series from DewTee, I am personally willing to let it slide, but I will still point out how the marketing is absolutely queerbait.

Do they or do they not include certain scenes in the trailer to entice the shippers? This is very blatant queerbait. Any more blatant and they'd literally be spelling it out.
lots of thoughts! at first i was a bit torn on how i felt about the modern day duean being unrecognizable from…
I fear the glasses worked for me. I thought it looked like Keng, yes, but you could've told me it was someone else that just really looked like him, and I honestly would believe you. Actually, it wasn't even the glasses bc even when he took them off and it flashed back and forth between Duean and Phumek, I just couldn't fathom how he managed to make them look so different.
Though to be fair, I remember rewatching The Paradise of Thorns after watching Khemjira and getting more familiar with Keng, and I had pretty much the same reaction there (especially for certain shots), so maybe I just have some weird case of Keng Harit face blindness, idk lol
it’s based on a novel so it will end the same way the novel ends lmao
It is not "based on a novel." They literally said they made sure the novel and the series were different to avoid spoilers. I'm pretty sure they talked about that a few months ago. Also, if a GMMTV-series is an original work, they work on the novel simultaneously, and I think the novel is usually based on the script and not the other way around.
