Ok, her case - I always despise hearing small little child's cries instead of women's cries in dramas but by now…
Actors do what directors ask them to. And the editing can also cut some of their performances. So I would not judge actress/actor's depiction of a role for their entire capacity to act. That would be disregarding the director and editor's take on the scenes. When did an actor ever did whatever he wanted to do in a movie? Never. Unless he produces it.
If it was only "reject to protect" but it is "hurt to protect". It is hard to watch the leads suffer. And I also…
Indeed, I was disappointed by Luo Mei's character development. And I had too face the fact that, she willingly let herself be played by the Crown Prince. Because, as a high-ranking general, she has the education and the experience of deception. She should have been able to repel and decipher every attempt at manipulating her. This is sad that she purposefully did not. I hope, in the future, she can redeem herself.
Man they really dumbed her down i read in novel she sacrificed herself to protect jinghe in a war
I see what you mean. To me his death was too easy, after all he was a criminal against humanity. But the depiction of his demise was very artistic, theatrical and beautiful. This my understanding of greek tragedy that speaks here.
Did you forget his evil twin brother : YQ? He is now a heir of the Xiyan throne and he already emprisoned Mei…
Good point. Who is the most important to YQ? ML, the woman he is obssessed with or Consort yan, his sister? I think that, he might consider that his sister saved the Emperor's life and thus would not be threatened, out of debt repayment. So to my understanding QY, he could definitly start a war. In order to coerce the Emperor to return Mei Lin, if ever she flees him.
Another disappointment, that crown prince died so early. He was such a good villain.... seems like there's no…
Did you forget his evil twin brother : YQ? He is now a heir of the Xiyan throne and he already emprisoned Mei Lin in his "peace-making marriage". If ever, he commits regicide and succeeds (unlike Murong Xuan Lie). He could easily spark a war between Great Yan and the state of Xiyan in case Mei Lin flees the palace to come back to Murong Jing He. Which I suppose will happen, as Mei Lin is in love with Jing He. She cannot possibly stay in Xiyan.

Well, That's up to you. I suspect that the city LM was demoted to is at the border, next to the state of Xiyan. I am waiting to see LM's fighting skills now :)

I had a hard time understanding why and how she could fall for an antagonist like CP. But now, I understood that she chose to love him. And that's weird because she is a righteous and impartial character. I am surprised she never noticed how shaddy he was.
No the buget is not pathetic, they only have 40 episodes to air the drama.
You have a fair point about the use of dialogues. However, I think, that might be because the investigation is complex with several sub-plots. I guess they couldn't film every thing in 40 episodes. If the budget is low. I did not notice it, so in my views they kept the illusion from me very well. We don't have those great slow burn drama we had since the censorship. It is a pity. Because they have to cut scenes. I guess they did here too. I sensed it with the relationship between Shen Du and the Dowager. There is some scene missing between them. Especially at the end.
Thank you @Freezias for answering that comment. I agree with you 100%. The first 3 episodes are harsh and then there is a turning point. The harsh arc could have lasted a little more if we had more than 32 episodes. I heard some viewers complaining about that.
