So glad Cdramas are finally starting to do away with the stereotypical female in distress or totally ditzy female…
You and me both..lol I find I cant sit through them when they go out of their way to make the FL ditzy...I just stop watching now...lol i dont have the strength to continue.
I really didnt expect this drama to be so good especially after the first episode but i was happily wrong. Like the youthful version of them was honestly the best thing about this drama and the FL thankfully wasnt annoying or stupid or a constant victim. It was so refreshing.
The older version of them (the last few episodes) wasnt as interesting to me ...The writers really dragged it out especially the first 3 episodes after she wakes up...I was so annoyed.
This drama is really slept on...I like many others had low expectations for it but I ended up enjoying it so much...my one complaint is that the final arc was so dragged out and the ending 'meh' but otherwise it was really good.
Let me just add usually I hate dramas where the ML is weak and cant protect or defend himself or his friends but the ML being smart and calculating made up for that...if he was as useless as the ML in Noble Aspirations I would have dropped it.
The amount of time the CP could have gotten rid of the villains and become king but chose not to for no other reason than plot irked me to no end....the logic in half of his decisions were just not logicing for me....
If this was actually a comic book like I would have dropped it after the second "ending not ending"...because it started getting like a story that doesnt know how to end. ..imagine reading a book and everytime you think okay the good people have won something else happens that derails everything that happened before......the comic became like a soap opera
I like both this version as well as the Chinese version buttt I will say I appreciated the Chinese version a little more for not dragging out him becoming king and the princess being non-existent in that one...
does this have dead first love trope ? i thought that only existed in otome games , the worst trope in the world…
okay so there is a dead first love trope unfortunately, but the main FL does not remind him of her she just happened through a series of events to become connected to both of them (the dead first love...and the ML)....
The first love does not die immediately btw, she's alive for a few episodes..after she dies, though, a good chunk of the episodes revolve around everyone mourning her or coming to terms with her death (including the FL & ML) ...
There is also a mystery surrounding her death (no murder or anything but why she was acting the way she was before she died) ...but in my opinion they did drag the ML getting over it a little too long and everything was connected to her for awhile until eventually the ML started liking the FL (she liked him first).
My main reason for not liking this drama is that Sun Woo fell in love with Sun Ae and not Bon Sun but they really tried to play it off as if the person he fell in love with was Bong Sun...The majority of the interactions that made him fall in love were with Sun Ae and not Bong Sun but lets just ignore that entirely...it annoyed me too much
People were saying this is similar to 'I'll go to you when the weather is nice' but i disagree...the feeling was different.. Dramas like 'One Spring Night', 'I'll go to you when the weather is nice' and 'Hometown Cha Cha' have the same feeling to me. This one didn't feel that way.
Lol also somebody said this drama should be called remembering Ji Soo and i agree.
This is the type of drama that just feels warm but ironically is based in a cold setting. The villagers really gave me 'hometown cha cha' feels with how supporting and close the community was.

Also if you love dramas where the ML is completely obsessed and totally in love with the FL and would do anything for her you'll definitely like it.

The first of this drama was very much depressing.
