You’re mourning a man in a picture—but the story hasn’t ended. What if he lives?
The sect leader said to him, "Zhu Yu, you've never left Changxi Palace ever since you came here as a child. It's only human for you to be bewitched by the splendor of Chang'an."
The last time he saw a female when he was 6 yrs old but Mei Zhuyu's first day in Chang'an, he was captivated by Wu Zhen riding her horse through Chang'an. It was love at first sight.

did Wordless Book have any memories before he knew Wu Zhen?
Some argue that rankings alone don’t tell the full story, and that you have to look at the raw data. But context matters. Moonlit Reunion debuted just five days after This Thriving Land—right as TTL was gaining serious momentum and breaking records across China. Despite going head-to-head with a juggernaut, Moonlit Reunion managed a 14% market share on Yunhe, which is a solid performance by any measure.
TTL debut on 8/13 and was gaining momentum. By MR's debut on 8/18, TTL was surging—and peaked to 46.1% on 8/21, and still going strong with 20.6% currently.
If another S+ drama that peaked at 24% or even debut at 33.6% had aired after This Thriving Land, its market share would almost certainly have been lower. TTL’s dominance reshaped the viewing landscape, and any drama airing in its shadow would be fighting for a much smaller slice of the pie.

His talent isn’t just in crying scenes—though those are exquisite—but in emotionally loaded moments that are pure, raw, and deeply nuanced. Quick shots don’t do him justice. He thrives in longer, uninterrupted scenes where the camera lingers and his understated style lets emotion quietly radiate from his face. He needs scenes that give him space to act, not just react. Xu Kai might really shine in shorter, male lead–centric dramas where he’s present in nearly every scene. That kind of format would give him space to fully showcase his range and emotional depth. The catch is, those types of dramas don’t tend to dominate the mainstream—they’re often overlooked in favor of ensemble casts or longer, plot-heavy series.
Do you think the way they handled the overseas rollout might’ve impacted its overall viewership? Or is the international audience still too small to make a noticeable difference?
OMG that's a real-life case that hits home for me, when she screamed at the herb doctor that the medicine he prescribed gave her baby diarrhea, then died. That's exactly what happened to someone I know personally in China, the herb doctor gave an adult dosage.
I found the novel's description of Liu Tai Zhen, "Steady temperament, unmovable as a mountain, even startled, her face didn't show it" it does sound like her in the drama. good job by the actress
🤣🤣 We should make a list of names for WZS. So far, we have:Wordless BookBlank BookMr BookLord Book
Oh he has quite few names in the novel too. The one that comes to mind is Swindler, Charlatan, Wordless Book of Heaven, Legendary Book of Heaven, Half Immortal Fortune Teller (in the novel, he begged in the Demon market at night and told fortunes during the day, a very different character in the novel!!!) He wasn't exactly a good guy with names like Swindler and Charlatan deceiving people, so I guess it makes sense he became a bad character in the drama.
that's hilarious, a "no-name broom demon." and mei zhuyu's carriage is so adorable turning creepy and sinister now.. ominous mood, way more than the whimsical demon city why is the herb named after mei zhu yu, "zhu yu herb" that scene is like a nightmare how come Wu Zhen can't invoke her Cat Lord powers
I recognized him immediately; he plays completely different kind of personality which is nice to see contrast…
I don't know why but I seem to recognize actors from xu kai's dramas instantly like that guy who played guest role Sen Jian in ALP, I instantly recognize him in Legend of Zang Hai. I think it was partly because that actor really impressed me for some reason, so I never forgot his face.

Ep 33 toward the end was very touching to me
I’ll never forget Mei Zhuyu’s little, unassuming carriage—so much like him. It’s the most charming detail in the entire drama.
