Adaptation means reinterpretation, not replication. The novel is soft and conflict-free; the drama adds tension by design. You can't ruin an adaptation that's not even aiming to tell the same story as the novel.

So, he was longer an official Taoist but still practicing one. He didn't have a master in the novel.

Moonlit Reunion received an above average Douban of 6.6. so, I'll take that one instead. the typical correlation I've seen is 8.5 on MDL will get around 6.5 to 6.8 on Douban. But lately quite a few 8.5 to 8.8 on MDL are getting 5.5 on Douban. What does it all mean anyway? Just a number.
