check the age group, only 2% of watchers are below 18 leaving low ratings below 8, young people are not interested…
I was generalizing based on the data on this site because someone ask do some people like her voice? I have no issues with anyone not liking her voice I understand why they say what they say, I can hear it too, but at the same time, I think she's talented since she is able to use her voice so well I think she did an exceptional job in this drama using her own voice
What are some of those misconceptions? I'm curious...
AvenueX is the biggest culprit. she always calls out the female lead name first - the drama is "led by Esther Yu and Xu Kai". Looking at the casting here, Xu Kai name is first. She did the same thing for WOL, in fact, the second time, she said it, she even dropped Xu Kai name and just said "led by Jing Tian" (only). This to me is a misconception. Her viewers think that this actor can't lead a drama.
"Bad color grading, bad light filtering, bad skin smoothing, everything in the drama is fake." She picks out the weakness and nothing good to say creates a misconception in minds of viewers there is no value to watching this "really really bad" production. I didn't even notice anything wrong with the color, light, and skin, sure I notice the fake settings, but I thought it's normal, I've seen plenty of fake settings in dramas. Usally, Tang dynasty the color, light and skin coloring is very bright and colorful and have lot of makeup too. I got used to that kind of setting after having watched it in several dramas.
comments from others which are misleading: #6 drama has bad production value and character portrayals. “Who did she sleep with to get main role and with that voice.” < the person making this comment is really bad! why the production looks so insanely cheap. It's like no one cares. So sad. neither has much actual fight choreography children's version of Sword and Fairy fake baby voice and cuteness seems unlikely that most ranters will endure either drama to the end
I hear that people are dropping this drama because of the FL's voice. Really sad for any talented actresses, so…
I don't' agree that people are dropping it. Look at the age group, 18 to 34 rate this drama 8.8 to 8.9, the other day it was as high as 9.
But the negative press is working hard to give this drama a bad reputation, just like I witness it in full motion with WOL, but that one will stand the test of time. Viewers are still growing. Fantasy dramas are not everyone cup of tea and harder to understand so people will accept whatever opinions are out there.

The largest age group for this drama, 33% of watchers are 18 to 34 and the rating is high 8.8 to 8.9 among this group, the rating is lower for older watchers, but improves when get past 65 (I guess when you are retired, you enjoy more things in life). I would say the young adults college age and working, before married and no kids have no problem with the voice, but ones who are married with children seem to have a problem. Then the retired people seem okay with it.
AvenueX latest post on her You Tube channel are full of comments with misconceptions of Sword and Fairy, that's how you ruin a reputation of an actor or drama by spreading misconcepetions.
It may take a few more episodes. I don't think the other hot dramas like "The last Inmortals" and "Lost you forever"…
isn't heat index driven by popularity? Xu kai is not as popular, so his dramas don't tend to get high heat index? I recently saw a video on You Tube that showed a ranking of which actors generates the most discussion online in China and there were like 50 actors on the list and Xu Kai name did not even appear. He doesn't behave like an idol celebrity. He is successful not because of popularity in China but he has universal appeal outside of China. For someone who is less popular, he also gets a lot of haters, but he has a large international fan base. With his youthful looks, he can have a long career if he decides to.
