Yeah! so many plot twists are superficially made, even after reading the spoilers the next big plot twists won't faze me at all because the flow of the plot has long gone sour, there is nothing left except the good acting from all casts. The romance of Sheng Chumu is practically an afterthoughts after all this bad scriptwriting.

She might have some credit as good book author but since this is her first screenwriting, I hope she stays away from it. But from what I discovered (in my annoyance for the scriptwriting), for me to blame her completely is also one-sided as well because apparently she was hesitating in writing the script but Yu Zheng convinced her that it's ok to just do her way same her writing novels and she was even hesitating again during the process and consult him again when she didn't have the grasp of doing the process of biographies for each character but again Yu Zheng shrug it off and said it's okay she can skip that, needless to say as the Executive Producer Yu Zheng failed his job when he shrugged off all this. So while blaming Feng Nong, I feel like the blame lies with Yu Zheng as well. Both are not good at their job.

I agree with both of your highlight points, it is also the part that makes me wanted to throw something I found out about it. Lu Qi and Lu Yunji did so many outrages misdeeds (they even attempted to murder Chumu and emperor just say to Chumu to let it go!) but they were pardoned again and again and even allowed to have a good arc on their character as individuals and family even more than the main leads character and family did.

Yeah exactly! when it comes to the chumu everything suddenly impossible to solve but in helping others even those who were malicious suddenly everything even the unthinkable is possible, the emperor and empress is wrapped around her pinky.

At this point I couldn't even imagine how the plot can go to the happy double wedding but at the same time they will just do it anyway without any flow just like how they like to make villainous character suddenly forgetting they what they did is horrendous and life goes on.

Because scriptwriter said so.

This scriptwriter really have a personal problem because she wrote in scenes that is so brutal and the next scenes the character just shrugged it off as if it was just minor matter. For example, Oh King Liang almost rape many woman in this drama but his character is allowed to move on as if we should sympathized with character for being spoiled is the reason he turns out the way he did. Like yeah no. and then Fu Tao can just kill a man who already confess without no reason and the scenes also just ended up him shrugging it off, despite his character being build as coming from a decent family? Sheng Chumu made Fu Rou jealous and then regret it by saying he didn't realized he said it and then chased her and got angry because he saw her with Zhou Wang?? What kind of elementary school plot writing is this? and many other unreasonable writings of the character.

Pros
Mad respect to all the actors and actress in this drama, despite this shitty writing I couldn't help myself to continue watching because everyone acted very well within what they are allowed to do with the script. I know that actors and actress can advice director or scriptwriter if they feel the scenes is not going well but with a bad scriptwriting in almost single scenes how can anyone try to change anything. One of the few things that I can highlight is how the crown prince is being portrayed, if his character isn't such a useless and easily manipulated then the rebellion wouldn't happened. and The rebellion among Li Shimin princes is written in the history so there is some reasons for that

Other than that is Sheng family is the highlight in making the drama feels easy to watch with their antics, but now its as if their family is not even needed in this plot and the scriptwriter seems to realized that halfway and tried to write in any possible way to involved them in the scenes i.e Sheng Chuling gladiator scenes for King Liang WTH is that!

If this drama is written surrounding Sheng family and shows the drama through the lens of Sheng Chumu and Fu Rou rather than them being sidekicks and their romantic development is basically useless addition, it would make a more good drama but scriptwriter don't have that talent so scratch that.

End of rant and I will further torture myself by continuing watching the drama.

Xu Kai is the first to enter the filming group and the last to finish, for 6 months he filmed from 6am to 4am in 40kg armor only to be cut off in the drama to a mere 1 minute per episode appearance. Gosh to think he could have film another drama.

It wasn't reused but starting to use, because before this Hengdian only has the permanent structure for Qin, Ming and Qing Dynasty palace settings, none for Tang Dynasty and all Tang Dynasty drama before this had to build a temporary studio set or use part of the other existing Dynasty palace which is not historically accurate until Court Lady production team built the whole palace from scratch permanently and it was made into another additional feature in Hengdian World Studios Tourism Spot and of course use by other Tang Dynasty drama that come after Court Lady including Long Ballad. Hengdian posted on their weibo about how Hengdian allocated an empty land section within the Hengdian World Studios boundaries and provided the budget for building constructions to Court Lady for Tang Dynasty palace, and gave the same for The Palace of Devotion drama production team to build Song Dynasty palace section for future Song Dynasty drama to use as well.

I like the sound of the OST, too often drama nowadays ancient themes but have modern OST

The official weibo and Huanyu youtube channel posted an 8 min video showing behind the scenes of Court Lady, highlighting the hard work of craftsman and jeweler in making the drama. Court Lady team production built the Tang Palace from ground up in 2018-early2019 for 9 months before the filming start and this set was later used in many Tang Dynasty background drama such us The Long Ballad, Weaving tale of love etc...

Yeah I was afraid too because he has so many costume dramas lol it all would get stuck, now there is a possibility we get two at once!

It's actually rumors about the new restrictions on costume drama due to the 100th year celebration for their country this year so the rules is costume dramas cannot be promoted (put on front page, trending topics etc.) but with the release of Li Gexing it seems it is just a rumors.

Yup, all the characters except for the female lead and some 2 other supporting was changed in order to pass censorship. From what I read the 15 episodes cut might be the Li Zefeng character storyline because it has a rebellion plot that is sensitive subject in history. Most of Court Lady setting is based on real historical figure and events which is why it is so hard for the drama to pass censorship.

But I just checked the China's Radio, Film and Television wikipedia page and they have updated with Li Gexing on coming soon section and they also moved Li Gexing from web drama section to tv drama section which is interesting. (I always check this page and I was sure last Li Gexing was listed under web drama)
