If WDBTD left you wanting more, Love Beyond the Grave is your next watch.
• Arthur Chen plays the ML in both, and watching him inhabit two completely different broken men is its own kind of experience
• Both leads carry centuries of isolation, just on opposite sides: Sima Jiao sealed away for 500 years, He Si Mu sovereign of a world that left her equally alone for 400
• In both, what draws the ML in is that the FL simply refuses to be what he expected. Liao Tingyan’s total lack of ambition fascinates Sima Jiao. He Si Mu’s steadfastness is what Duan Xu cannot walk away from.
• Both MLs were made into weapons by the very world they were meant to serve, never given the choice to simply exist
• The angst is relentless in both, but the tenderness always finds a way to breathe through it
• When the powerful one falls, they fall completely. No half measures, no retreat.
• The OSTs are haunting in both, the kind that attach themselves to specific scenes and refuse to leave your memory

A Splendid Match gives off the same energy as The Story of Ming Lan because both dramas center on smart, underestimated women navigating complicated households, political marriages, and family power struggles with strategy rather than noise.

If you loved Ming Lan’s blend of inner courtyard warfare, mature relationship development, and the satisfaction of watching a woman outmaneuver everyone around her, A Splendid Match sounds like it hits many of the same notes.

Romantic comedies.
Romance is a step relationship in a way- SSAM's ML married FL's mother prior to her death, SOMF's FL is "engaged" to ML's ailing father.
No romantic feelings in those first relationships, they occurred due to certain circumstances.

Dream of Golden Years immedietely reminded me of Wild Bloom. Both of these Chinese dramas feature a determined female protagonist (who is intelligent and resillient) breaking into industries traditionally dominated by men (corporate/business world in the 1980s vs. steel industry in the 1990s). Both of the female leads start with little to no support and gradually builds success, overcoming many hardships and eventually becoming leaders in their industries. Both dramas are set during periods of economic transformation (80s and 90s).

It follows the trouble-filled daily life of a mysterious and strikingly beautiful vampire novelist who assists the police in criminal investigations, and a rookie editor who finds himself at the mercy of a non-human existence. Zen Misaki is a wildly popular bestselling author whose true identity is, unexpectedly, that of a vampire. Using supernatural abilities unique to his inhuman nature, such as nensha (the power to read a person’s memories from their blood), mind reading, and hypnosis, along with his sharp deductive skills, Misaki stylishly solves difficult cases that have left the police at a dead end. Having long since abandoned his life as a human, Misaki begins the story having lost his sense of purpose, lacking the passion to write new novels and harboring a cynical, world-weary outlook. However, through his interactions with a young editor and an up-and-coming detective, and by solving case after case, he gradually rediscovers his capacity for love, friendship, and the very emotions that make him human.
