Okay, this might seem like the weirdest and inept recommendation you have ever seen. But let me explain:

While I was watching Reply 1988, I would be repeatedly reminded of Nirvana in Fire. At first glance, these two dramas have nothing in common. One is a Korean drama set in 1988 about family and friendship in a tiny social universe. The other is a historical, highly strategic drama set in China at the emperor's court.

However, they are similar in more subtle matters:
Both plots work only because of the tight networks they are set in, in one it is a neighbourhood street, in the other the aristocratic court. What in Reply 1988 is build on social ties, is build upon a political net in NiF.
Then there is the universal and well-rounded plot that involves most humane emotions and ambitions on which the story is build on. This is what makes them similar: There are no big "events" or accidents or villains out-of-the-blue that lead the story, but the people's emotions, ambitions and motifs ARE the story.

Both do not emphasize on the romance, although it is there. And both are written, shot and acted superbly.

You know, it is kind of comparing an absolutely fantastic cheese to an absolutely fantastic cheese-cake. They seem nothing alike, but when you look closer, or taste deliberately, you will "feel" that both were made from the same kind of milk. :)

Both dramas are closely related to books and bookstores with a bit of romance.

both are about fame and power. They may be different films but the gist of the plot is almost the same

both have the same objective , the revenge on people who have destroyed their lives !

The original hit that started it all. A time-travel fiction based on the infamous throne succession battle among the princes that took place in the golden age of China's Qing dynasty. Intriguing and complex characters and plot that is bound to leave viewers on an emotional and perplexing journey.

Very similar vibe, with touches of romance, mysteries bringing people from various background together, and the cinematic and captivating action sequences!

It is the same thing but in a different language and different actors and actresses.

Uhm Jung Hwa also stars in this movie about a housewife who wants to pursue her dreams. Both movies have a similar vibe -- showing the struggle between the life you thought you wanted vs the life you have.

The intensity of the situation is similar as well as having amazing soundtracks in both dramas. Both have their family ruined by the main villain and takes revenge. The romance between the main couples are based off a similar scenario as well as having a happy ending. They would encounter one another without any problems then their relationship starts becoming a problem once they gradually know the truth to the whole situation. Even when they're not meant to be, the main hero would do whatever it takes to help out the main heroine because he still loves and can't forget her. Both revolve around business and the company, but Giant includes more action and is based off in the 1970's while Bride of the Sun is in the present.

both have tragedy and mystery , about the past and their life .
when I finished ouroboros I just think about Maou I got the same feeling in the end .

Go Lala Go was the first Go Lala Go movie to be made. It's interesting to see how the two compare to one another.

Both are fights with terrible odds for the protagonists and a lot of heart. You might also learn a bit about history too.
