In FJS it's Thailand and a made up fictional country, set in fictional historical desert setting with different kingdoms.

LITBC deals with queerness in such a similar yet different way. LITBC shows how the main character meets different men and discovers himself and the meaning of love with his various love interests, while realising he could have loved and been loved by some of his lovers, if the timing was right, or if the circumstances were in his favour. But the movie covers mostly his friendship with Jaehee.

SLSYT is about a man and his undying love for his childhood friend where even though he attempts love with another person, he ultimately realizes he still and has always only loved his childhood friend, and if the odds were in his favour, he might have gotten to experience the love of his lifetime. It also deals with family relations and how the main character exists in his queerness, while maintaining his relationship with his family.

SLSYT was the first movie that came to mind when I heard LITBC would be adapted. The storytelling style is different, but the themes and vibe feels the same, yet distinct in the ways the plot and characters were portrayed. Please watch the two of them and appreciate them for the queer perfection that they both are

both the main character of these movie is reminiscing about the past with the other character in it. it's have the same nuance and even though the story is really difference both have a unique way to wrap the story. both feels like a fever dream while being realistic at the same time. it's beautiful.

If you take Love in the Big City's episode-6 relationship arc; combine it with episode 8's nostalgic, melancholic, and temporally disjointed remembrance of times past (and idealized expectations pulled back down to reality) on vacation in a foreign land; intensify the moody sense of loneliness and dislocation; make the humor a bit more subtle; keep the attention to grittier dimensions of gay life, the more explicit elements of gay sex, and the questionable maturity of the very flawed (i.e. human) protagonist; and you film the story in an art-house style; then you might get something like Happy Together.

Both are movies in which the ML is trapped in some odd form of time (a loop vs. non moving time) that he thinks is just him until he discovers the FL who is experiencing the same thing. Ultimately, it's revealed that the FL triggered it due to a health-related thing that makes her unable to move on.
