I've watched a lot of the most recent Korean dramas and came across this one after watching all 4 seasons of Voice because I didn't have anything else lined up.

This drama was made over 10 years ago and I wonder if all the Korean dramas were this SLOW back then!!! By golly each episode moved at a snail's pace. It seemed like it was over an hour!

I watched because the main male lead was the guy from Fiery Priest. I don't know his name but I think it's Kim-somebody. I wanted to see this because I know he has some mad Tae Kwon Do skills and he showed a little in the first episode so I was thinking yes, this will be one of those dramas that will have fighting scenes in it.

Nope! By the fourth episode I told myself to give it one more shot and if nobody does any fighting then I'm dropping it. Not only that, they had that cliche romance in it. Oh my gosh I want to rip my eyes out for the sappiness!!!

If this series was aiming for the plot I wonder how many episodes it would take to actually get to the point. All through the 5 episodes it just focused on two guys having a crush on one girl. Then when the preview of the 6th episode showing everybody fighting over one girl and the main guy, it made me want to hurl insults at whoever thought this was a good drama.

It's dubbed as a thriller, melodrama and romance but there's no thriller in it. It's predominately romance and yes this is why I avoid Korean dramas that have romance in it. I'm so disappointed right now because it's already hard enough trying to find my style of drama without the romance and that makes my chances of finding that slim and nil.

A big whole mess

WTH was this mess? Cringe plot and zero romance plus the ML character was one of the creepiest and most abusive that I've seen in C-drama. As a matter of fact, most of the male characters treated the FL abysmally.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Their first meeting was a disaster but their love is sweet. This line almost sold it for me.

It was in the description that their first meeting was a disaster but their love is sweet. This line almost sold it for me.

But I decided to drop the show by around episode 7 or 8. Nothing happened still, nothing but their disastrous meeting. I don't like ML who's almost cruel to FL no matter the instances.

I have nothing to say regarding the FL, there's not much of her story yet. Slow phased almost to the point of laziness. Actors were new faces to me, but it was OK. OST is also good. Maybe its just not for me. Re watch opportunity is not possible seeing that I dropped the show.

the best

Cliched and generic, easy early drop

What a waste of Shin Ha-kyun's talents.

His character is a bland cliched "tsundere man with trauma", who takes over an audit team at a construction company and tries to whip it into shape. He is of course pursuing his own secret investigation into [INSERT CHILDHOOD TRAUMA DUE TO CHAEBOL CORRUPTION HERE].

He's joined by corrupt dimwit Lee Jung-ha, who specialises in the art of talking emphathetically to people who were totally going to dispose of a dead body in a reservoir to cover up their death but had second thoughts only when they realised they were still alive.
Boy I'm glad he's here to humanise his new robotic, cynical boss, who we're told must be "really lonely" because he actually does his damn job.
The only thing missing is for this Candy to be a woman so he and his new bromantic boss can get married at the end.

Forest of Secrets this is not.

I'm out.

The acting powerhouse that is Shin Ha-kyun deserves better.

Aside for Xiao Zhan does this drama really work?

I wanted to offer a different point of view from the diehard Xiao Zhan fans who will love him regardless. I found the opening storyline so ridiculous I decided to drop it. I found the character of the FL annoying-sure there have been reckless, daring FL but their bravado is based on achieving justice...but this gal just continuously ignores everyone and the rules because of what she wants. This is the case in point/spoiler: in the first few episodes, she repeatedly is advised that trespassing is not allowed and punishable by death yet she (and the other FL) both just go ahead and trespass for rather lame reasons. And then FL does it again (oh, because her memory was wiped). But she does it again. And of course, because this story makes no sense, she is saved by the ML--who says he'll never meet her again. And again. Sure, he may 'owe' her for being so loyal to him, but her loyalty is bent on reviving him from the dead--which of course, is a major no no--but what does she care? You could chalk it up to young naivete, but it is stretched in every plot point-she confronts the ancient bird and asks for his feathers, she says she wants to retrieve her friend's dress, but when it burns up she forgets that was the point of her trespassing and doesn't followup. And a little thing-she supposedly wears red as she is from the crimson clan but that seems to no longer apply after her first outfit.
That said the rest of the drivers of the story are questionable--she finds a flowerthat is totally different from all the others there-why would it grow by itself amidst all the others? Why does the consort resort to framing the prince resulting in her death when she is so arrogant pluss is pregnant with an heir? (Ok this may be revealed later in the drama). Why does his mentor focus on angry revenge when the purpose of their sect is to protect the world? Why is the Bird so darm annoying and committed to the lead and yet not as powerful as he supposedly should be for being an ancient being?
XZ is totally comfortable in this role no doubt, but the story is full of holes and the FL role is just too annoying.

This is not a final review/rating

Looks like a low-budget series that was done on the cuff. Notwithstanding, Dylan's performance alone is enough to keep me glued to the screen.

(During the reign of Long Hua, Xiao Duo, a powerful eunuch in charge of the imperial court, plans a palace mutiny with Prince Fu to help him ascend to the throne. Bu Yinlou, a tribute lady that was supposed to be hanged as a tribute to the late emperor was saved by Xiao Duo as Prince Fu fancies her. The two of them spend a lot of time with each other and develop feelings for each other, but due to their status, they have to hide their feelings. Xiao Duo goes to Jiangnan to supervise a silk trade with a foreign country, and Yinlou accompanies him to visit his relatives in the south, during which they fall in love and finally reveal their hearts. But the road ahead is full of obstacles, Xiao Duo's true identity, the threat of the King of South Court, and the suppression of the emperor in the palace. The two of them have to sacrifice themselves for the greater good and decide to enter the palace, but Xiao Duo misunderstands her. What is the fate between the two?)

Very fun to watch. Doesn’t bore you even for a minute, so many unexpected plot, but the tall ML and short FL looks cute together. Specially the ML, he looks so cute and manly at the same time, when he comes in the screen, it’s like he ate the bread and left no crumb, just perfect. The FL is very funny and energetic. She has the playful vibe which is just perfect for the role, not annoying at all.

Overall it’s a package of humour, romance, drama. Just loving it.

The longest Promise is a great story.

The Longest Promise is a great story. It has it all, romance, comedy, tragedy. Beautiful shots that take your breath away, some in natural settings. Great acting. The main actors are great, Xiao Zhan, Ren Min and others. The haters as I see them try to provoke and lower the recommendation. It will be of no use. The drama has already exploded, it has won the first place in the ratings. Let your star work just as hard, instead of reaching for such methods.
The scenes of confusion played by Xiao Zhan are outstanding, he is brilliant. Shi Ying's character is wonderfully rendered. Red Min delights in this film, she is a very good actress. The story is great, very romantic, it is not simple.

A thriller amidst a futuristic vegan world

BF (Blood Free) is an organisation headed by ChaeWoon which manufactures cultured meat (man-made meat) and has monopolised its market. In the beginning you get the feeling that will cover various merits and demerits of vegan industry like its impact on livelihood of people involved in meat industry. Or loss of livelihood being one of necessary sacrifices need to stop the cruelty against animals. Or the side-effects of cultured meat.

But, soon enough they take the drama in direction of thriller/mystery genre. There are 2 mysteries involved - one is ongoing which involves JaYoo and second one which happened in past involves ChaeWoon.

ChaeWoon is a former soldier who got pushed out of his original career because of mystery number 1. Solving mystery 1 is life's mission for ChaeWoon. And to solve it he has to become bodyguard of FL.

Story can take 2 directions - cultured meat or finding the culprit behind 2 incidents.
From the looks of things it looks to be going towards the latter.
Maybe to conclude they will hopefully show cultured meat related dilemmas at the end.

BGM is nice. Since, both ML and FL are veteran actors, as expected they are doing decent enough with their roles.

With just 2 episodes, it is difficult to exactly feel excited about it yet, Next few episodes will be make-it or break-it for me.

Alchemy Of Souls 2

This drama is so far actually SO GOOD fr! They all have amazing visuals and awesome acting that are able to captivate the minds of the kdrama watchers and newbies. I love that Naksu is back to her original body. I also feel bad that she's been trapped in that room for a long time. That must actually really suck tbh.. no people, no socializing, no friends, no natural air and beauty... it is indeed unfortunate.. But it's fine! I'm sure it'll get better soon enough. I just cant wait for her to get her memories back and beat everyone's asses! I'm looking forward to it. I want Jang-Uk to experience and see how powerful is. They would be such a powerful couple omg!! AND IMAGINE THEIR CHILD- AHHH I CANT WAITTT. Jang-Uk, I feel bad for him because he lost his precious lover tragically.. it is also indeed unfortunate. I hope he soon finds out the truth about Naksu and they become all lovey-dover again. As for the second lead, I LOVE YOU AND ALL BUT I REALLLLY WANT YOU TO END UP WITH SO YI! She just really loves and deserves him. But I get a feeling she will die for him (kdrama sences tingling) BUT I REALLY HOPE NOT! To the bad guys... they can kts's tbh. But the actors who acted it out were all very good! I'd definitely recommend this drama!

Disappointing

Do not recommend unless you are really into gaming or want to stare at main leads who are both pretty but unfortunately have no chemistry. The show has been a huge letdown, the story is boring and the acting is very disappointing, especially on Yang Yang’s part. I was not expecting much but in a romance drama there must be at least something between the leads, right? Well, it’s not there, they look like siblings.
You watch it and you just feel nothing, it’s more of a gaming ad than a romance. If you like romance dramas, I recommend kdramas, no one does it better than them.

Charming Series!

Although My Boss is an understated RC, it is a solid series in its genre just the same. In my view, it is better for example than the current Our Interpreter or the recent Only For Love. Neither series are without appeal..but they are missing some element that would make them a stand out. This series by contrast has consistently delivered. It has a been a pleasure to watch for multiple reasons. There are thrills but without extreme angst. A fun and enjoyable watch ...but absent the frivolous fluff. The release schedule for this series has also added to the fun. Slow releases often negatively impact a drama...yet on this one...they chose to air one new episode almost every day. What is not to love about that? ❤️
Some have complained that it took too long for them to become a couple. I respectfully disagree. Half the fun of any trip is the planning and anticipation, right? So why the rush? Savoring suits an adult palate. Lol. Although the build up is relaxed...it has made this romance feel all the more legit. As if we have a window into a love affair from its conception to its maturity. Besides as viewers, we already know they love each other....even before they appear to know it themselves.

Things I Loved:
The ML, Chen Xing Xu:
The camera loves this guy, I swear he does not have a bad angle. His stylist played up his good looks with clothing that was interesting yet totally fit his quieter persona. And his hair...well, it is really, really nice. Lol.
But more importantly, I really liked his character in this series. He gave a much used stereotype a fresh new take, how that is possible given the many RC's out there I dunno......but he did it. And he did it in such an understated way that it felt authentic. And ummm...can we just take a detour to talk about his chest? Hey!! Don't laugh...his muscles are serious business. Don't believe me? Research it. Lol. But since I am a serious reviewer, you can take it from me darling...his chest muscles are for real. How do we know? Well, dang it...he has the pics to prove it...can you believe? And those pics have dealt a blow to his harshest critics who said that he wore chest pads. Grrr...the very idea! So life in China as a celebrity is tough business....evidently you gotta prove those abs are for real.

The FL, Zhang Ruo Nan:
She is adorable...and I am taking nothing away from her by saying that. She just is. She is not a bombshell, but the more you look at her.....she is gorgeous. She is also very adept at playing her role..it has never been plain vanilla or perky/silly...or one of those pushy females pursuing and being rejected, instead her role feels uncontrived and unusually fresh. She holds her own with a much more dynamic ML without losing a step. She is easily as interesting to watch as he is. I especially love it that despite his strong personality ...she has an equal confidence in herself. She is not led around by her emotions or by his moods. She appears to value her own life independent from his opinion of her. I liked that. I do love strong FL's.

The Setting: The Law Firm
Cheng Yao (Zhang Ruo Nan) is a young and talented lawyer who has bigger ambitions than she has connections. Her biggest problem? She has never tried a case before. So she is in desperate need of a quality mentor. She gets an unexpected chance to join an exceptional law firm, blissfully unaware that her new Boss, Qian Heng (Chen Xing Xu) accepts no one less excellent than himself. He is infuriated with his partner who has hired Cheng Yao. Qian Heng is one very determined guy. He has made a name for his law firm by sheer talent and hard work. His strong desire to succeed means that he will only hire the best, those who don't meet the grade...are fired on the spot. He has carefully built his reputation...as a top notch lawyer who never loses a case. So when he sees that his partner has hired Cheng Yao because he is in love with her sister...he dislikes her on principal. Things escalate further when they discover they will end up sharing an apartment. Both are wary, yet living together has unexpected side benefits. He finds that she is surprisingly good for his mental and physical well being and she benefits from having him to mentor her. So the law firm adds a cool element to the story, the cases and coworkers are interesting and the writers have sketched a mentor/mentee relationship that is turning into a toe-curling romance. For now it is a 10. I will be back to update you.

@20 This series is a gem and if romance is your thing, you will love this one.
@23 I have smiled my way through this series. If you've experienced the excitement of a love affair where all your senses are engaged...you will relate to this one. Watching them feeding each other pizza was such a legit moment that I felt the joy. This relationship has come full circle. He is now the vulnerable one and she appears to be the more mature one. She may not be experienced in love, but she has self-respect (I love that!) so she is no pushover. She is making him work for it and you gotta love that! Update at Final.

Happy Watching!

All yall sleeping on this show, and ion wanna hear nothing.

If you’re reading this review to decide whether to watch this show, I say watch it. Before you saw my review, you probably came across others saying things like, “Oh, Ri-An had the same facial expression,” or “The plot was so bad” (paraphrasing). But did they even watch the show?

Also, I went in expecting something intense, like a mafia-type thing, or some dirty drama where someone killed my brother, and now I have your sister in my basement, and my dad is the police officer. That would make for a fire show, but anyway…

Spoilers Ahead!

Here’s a little background: the main character gets pregnant, leaves, comes back, and breaks up with her boyfriend. That’s Drama #1. Then, a scholarship kid comes in, defies all the rules, and causes problems—Drama #2. This scholarship kid gets with the main character, and now everyone but her friends wants to be nice to him—Drama #3. I could go on forever, but I won’t.

The actors’ performances were almost perfect, considering their characters’ backgrounds and personal lives. Jae-I and Ri-An didn’t get love from their parents, so they found a substitute in each other. Because they’re teenagers and stupid (before you come hating I’m a teen), she got pregnant. Hera was lowkey funny, but she had no real reason for her actions, just like the other dude involved in the teacher affair—crazy stuff.

The scholarship kid’s storyline confused me. If someone killed my brother, I would absolutely not take it lightly. I’d bring down the whole school if I had to. He’s too smart to let them go scot-free. Also, how did he fall for someone who has a boyfriend? I don’t get that part. But his brother is cute, though.

This might be more of a rant than a review, but it’s only my third ever review, so I’m learning. BUT WATCH THE SHOW. It had me pausing to run and jump around every time something crazy happened.
