Honestly, ignore the noise—give it a chance.
The hates right now is kinda insane tho...Look, I know we are only two episodes into Perfect Crown, but I genuinely felt the need to drop a review right now just to counter all the bizarrely negative scores flooding in. The amount of hate this drama is getting right out of the gate is honestly kind of insane. People are review-bombing it before the story has even had a chance to breathe!
I will definitely come back and update this with my finalized score once the drama finishes airing, but for now? I'm giving it a perfect rating to balance things out. And honestly, it's not just a pity rating—the show has actually been fantastic so far.
The first two episodes did exactly what a premiere is supposed to do: set the mood, introduce the stakes, and get me genuinely invested in the characters. The pacing feels intentional rather than dragged out. We're getting a really solid foundation instead of just having cheap dramatic tropes thrown at us in the first twenty minutes. The leads already have incredible, simmering chemistry, and the cinematography is gorgeous.
Bottom line: If you're on the fence because of the low overall rating, do yourself a favor and ignore the comment section. Sit down, watch the show, and make up your own mind. It’s shaping up to be a brilliant watch, and I'm totally strapped in for the rest of the ride.

Problematic approach and dragged-out pacing: Oh My Venus hasn’t aged well
While the premise tries to talk about health, the execution is quite problematic. The way the female lead's weight is treated is exaggerated and borders on the ridiculous. For example, there is a scene where she struggles to buckle her seatbelt as if she were huge, when in reality she just had a bit of a belly and didn't even fill the car seat. They treat a body with some extra weight as if it were physically incapacitating in a totally unrealistic way.
The pacing is extremely slow and dragged out. I had to watch it at 1.5x speed to get through it, and sometimes I even left it playing in the corner of my screen while doing other things because the story was just crawling along. The male lead (ML) didn't help much either. Besides his stiff acting and having the same facial expression all the time (always with one arched eyebrow), he has this frustrating habit of "suffering in silence." Whether he was in physical pain or after a serious accident, he hid away and wouldn't let his partner support him. It felt more like fragile masculinity than a "romantic sacrifice".
Another thing that bothered me was the subplot involving the FL's ex-best friend and her ex-boyfriend of 15 years. They cheated on her and then the drama tried to force some character development and even romanticize their relationship later on. It felt very wrong and uncomfortable to try and make the audience root for or even care about a couple built on adultery and betrayal.
As for the female lead, while her character is somewhat neutral, her acting is much more superior compared to the ML. She serves as a good anchor for the story.
Despite the flaws, the drama has its heartwarming moments, mostly thanks to the supporting cast. Kim Ji-woong (Henry Lau) is the heart of the show, bringing much-needed energy. I also loved the brotherhood between the three men living together. The ML acts as a father figure and protective older brother, providing essential support. This bond allowed Jang Jun Seong or "Korean Snake" to grow and eventually find the strength to restore his relationship with his mother. These interactions, along with the loyalty of Min Byung-wook (Choi Jin-ho), were what truly kept me going. If it weren't for them and the fact that I hate dropping dramas, I would have stopped halfway through.

Break Free (2025), aka: 破笼, is a romance fantasy miniseries with good character development and story with ML: Zhang Chi (as Lu Zheng) and FL: Yu Yin (as Song Zhen Xing) in the leading couple's role, The cast did a phenomenal job ringing their characters to life and, although the romance is slow burn, they have great chemistry as a couple and a sensual impassioned romantic chemistry. The drama is quite log, around 4 hour, and there are some parts that can be skipped without losing content but the overall drama is well written and the leading couple performed fantastically. Close to the end, everything about this drama comes to light and the actions taken by the female lead are very justifiable but the relationship between the leads was not completely evolved and their time together is too short. Overall, the drama, even if one skips, has some quite funny scenes and it is entertaining, enjoy it! In the meantime, you can find this vertical miniseries on: " 【一口氣看完!】余茵💔張翅|覺醒紙片人手撕劇本,反手捅渣男,年下狼狗替她擋煞!"(Google translated to: [Binge it in one go!] Yu Yin 💔 Zhang Chi | The awakened flat character tears up the script, turns the tables on the scumbag, and a younger wolfdog shields her from harm!) An enjoyable drama with an interesting story
This drama was really lovely to watch. At first I wasn't sure if it was for me because the first two episodes felt a bit rushed and somewhat convenient, but the way they handled the story and the characters ended up keeping me interested. I really liked the story and its characters, and how they managed to develop three love stories at the same time, especially the one between the middle sister and the secretary, which caught my attention from the beginning and kept me watching whenever other parts felt a bit slow. I don’t think this drama is for everyone, but I would still recommend giving it a chance. I personally enjoyed it, but nothing more. Was this review helpful to you?
well, that was disappointing.
well, that was disappointing.Like, actually one of the biggest disappointments this year because it failed in every aspect. I love Daou-Offroad and I find Offroad to be a fantastic actor - I was so excited for this series! I genuinely don't understand what happened and how this happened but the quality of the production is terrible, which is especially bizarre considering the previous works they've done together. The audio was peaking throughout the entire series, the music was corny and didn't match the tone of most scenes, the camera struggled to stay in focus, the story was flat and repetitive, the actors were mediocre and all of this combined (accentuated by the music) felt like a soap opera. It was almost comical whenever the "DUHH" sound effect hit for every reveal\mistake\show of emotion\etc. and whenever the actors repeated the exact same things over and over and over again. Take Chet for example, the man is unable to resist the urge to throw an object across the floor at every minor inconvenience. All he does is throw a table around while throwing a tantrum and throwing weak insults consisting of "you're just the son of a mistress. You and your mom are useless. I'm very important. Mine, mine mine". And the father is just as bad with throwing punches at his children. Again, instead of using his words, he kept hitting them and repeating equally, annoyingly repetitive words "you're useless. I never liked you. I gave you a chance and you ruined it. You're not worthy. useless, useless, useless."
Very quickly in the story do these series of events repeat themselves. Someone does something, the siblings voice how incapable the other is, the father is happy, it backfires, father hits and then banishes them away. repeat. anyway, the last thing I'll mention was the inconsistencies. Lots of continuity errors and also just general events that don't make sense. I can't tell you the amount of times someone got severely injured but it's as though their bodies magically healed itself right away. other than smaller continuity issues scattered here and there, I remember a pretty big one near the start of the show where one moment, Pheem is covered in blood but then the next shot he's completely fine and then it cuts back to him being all bloodied lol.
I'm not someone who enjoys hating on art, I really don't, but I cannot understand for the life of me how this series had a near perfect rating?????
Je ne comprends pas lol

Finally, a good ending. They reached the end of the book and both exited the story. Flawless. Enjoyed not having to decipher the ending. Love the actors and the story line. Sad he had to grow up in such a depressing story and without her he would have died there poisoned, betrayed, broken and alone. Truly enjoyable. A good kid basucally turned into a monster by cruelty. Love the redemption /saviour arc. Solid story. Will be rewatching. Was this review helpful to you?

can kbls be good again pls
im writing this review late in both the sense that this show finished airing a while ago so im late to the party, and also in the sense thats its 4am and i have an organic chemistry exam tomorrow morning. sorry if this review makes no sense!! im going to keep it pretty short: this show bored the crap out of me. sorry, i know like everyone loves this show, but god it just put me to sleep. first of all, the plot confused me. i watch thai bls while doing homework all the time, only half reading subtitles, and i still understand them. so for me to not understand the plot or even the point of this story with my full attention is.. something! i only really wanted to watch this show because yoon jisung from wanna one plays iljo. my wanna one days were short and long ago, but trust and believe when i saw the casting of jisung i was like oh hell yeah i HAVE to watch this!! and i will give credit where credit is due, the actors deliver. both jisung and the other guy do a very good job at playing their characters. the only issue is, i absolutely hate both of them. now i understand this show is meant to be a "toxic love story", which is a plot i can 100000% get behind. my favorite jbl and one of my favorite bls ever is my personal weatherman so trust me, i fuck with toxic yaoi, but only when its done RIGHT. literally both of the main leads were insufferable. jisung's character was a cry baby whiny little bitch boy i genuinely would have wanted to punch in the guts if he weren't played by jisung, and the other main character is a standoffish asshole who genuinely infuriated me everytime he opened his mouth. the dialogue and the writing was weak, as well as the character developement. you may be asking, are there ANY positives to this show? yes. jisung from wanna one being a yaoi bottom. thats about it. IM KIDDING IM KIDDING!!! okay but actually, i was very impressed by the intimate scenes in this show. kbls are usually VERYYYY bad at them. they either leave them out alltogether, or when they're done they are done so poorly that it almost feels homophobic. recently, however, korea has done a lot better handling them. im not one to critique scenes like that usually since they honestly are NOT why im here, and i dont really enjoy them anyways. but i do appreciate that korea is putting a little more effort into making their bls seem less like they put two straight guys in a room and told them to have sex. progress, people, progress!! oh, i almost forgot, THE COUSINS THING. so from what i gathered from the plot, the top thought that jisung's character was his cousin. the. whole. time. or at least until the very end.. MY MAN YOU WERE FUCKING THIS MAN AND YOU THOUGHT HE WAS YOUR COUSIN??? BLOOD RELATED COUSIN??? WHAT THE FUCK????????? ive always hated like the "brothers but not by blood", or "raised like cousins but not blood related" trope in bl because like, lets be real, you were always RAISED like siblings or family members so its still weird. but here, oh its just so much worse becaue one of the dudes actually thought the other WAS his family. so weird, so gross, so alabama, not a fan. in conclusion, this show is a boring and melodramatic kbl thats biggest strength is its sex scenes. sounds crude, but it is what it is. watch this show if you wanna see jisung from wanna one be a freak i guess, but if thats not your thing (since it wasn't really mine), then i'd say skip this one for now. much better recent kbls are out there, so go for ball boy tactics or secret relationships if you really want a good kbl from the last year. Was this review helpful to you?
Start from episode 4,skip the first 3 and you will like it
The first 3-4episodes is quite borinng, just START at episode 4. The past events is revelant but it does get explained in later episodes. This poor start would have caused many people to abandon it but ep 4 starting is good after thatI learnt a lot about the industry and the work life of a new graduate. Both actors did really well and I was amazed at how good at skiing Song Wei Long is (he did grow up in the NE of China where everyone ski)
Other than that, it's a good story and an enjoyable watch. Nothing epic but ok for a modern drama just to kill time and enjoy the atmosphere
Worth watching -not a 10 but definitely 8

look I’m watching it… but it’s terribly painful.
but it’s becoming unbearable. the mother is extremely selfish. I’m trying to understand her, I really am. but every time something happens she just has this selfish way of acting. sometimes they give it the arc that in the end she is just looking up for her child, but even the times that happen you question her methods.it’s also very boring without the romance parts. nor the parents nor the daughter have a romantic arc anywhere to be seen. it’s just tiring for me to see this show.
also both female leads are tiring solely messy and nosy. they have to be involved in all the neighborhoods problems. the only respectable adult there is the imu. she gets all the credit for being the only adult there even when she was a child herself.
if I have to see again how the daughter finds her mother in compromising situations (like mas$@€}+~£ation, or seducing her dad for gods sake) I’m going to puke.
I mean kudos to her for having a daughter at such young age but omg she wasn’t alone, she had support system. is like they want to set her as this super hero when she was constantly putting man after man in front of her little daughter, one time even thinking of dropping her with other people.
I just cannot respect this story arc.

Not good, but not bad either.
Kind of choppy, short episodes and the acting was subpar. Good story, bad execution. I didn't like the rape and murder in this one, the ending was very sad and I really disliked the fact that none of the rapist were caught and neither was the murdering scumbag, however I did like the love between the two main characters. It was the confusion, execution, rape and murder I didn't like; hence why I gave it the stars that I did. It wasn't bad, but not good either. The way it ended really did it for me since no one knows Loy was killed and that the village a**hole is the one who done it. So no retribution, no justice for Loy or the girl who was raped by the three guys; just a bunch of us who watched it now being stuck on what could've/should've/would've happened. This was a wasted opportunity to turn this series really into something with better actors. The low budget filming wasn't the issue; it was just a wasted opportunity to make this a better film. There's a slight chance of a rewatch; but only a small one. I wasn't a fan, but if someone else watches this and likes it, well....Was this review helpful to you?
slow start but exciting after that
The "escape room"concept at the beginning was interesting but maybe weird for some viewers -if it had gone on longer I would have abandoned because it's a bit irrelevant but the real story kicks in after about the third episodes. After that, it becomes really interesting and the plot develops really well. Final few episodes was quite excitingI don't usually like modern cdrama because of the weak plot and sometimes just too long but this one has a good story, good acting, good directing and the ost is good. Only problem with the some platforms is they turned up the music so loudly it actually deafened the conversation and the lyrics subtitles totally blocked out the dialogue subtitles (super annoying-please can someone tell them)

I just love it so much
I watched it a while back so I don't remember everything, it was really good. Captivated me for a long time, took me a while to get over it. Made me cry and want to bite the screen a lot of times which I like when something I watch makes me do.I like the fact that it was made by a queer person it explains the heavy feeling in my heart while I watch it, or it might be the energy drinks catching up to me I am not sure if this or queer movies will get me faster.

EP 6
Okay, I just want to talk about EP 6 bc of how frustrating IT WAS TO WATCH IT. First her grandpa is annoying but lowkey I see this type of old man is everywhere in real life, it's giving so many women go through this. having someone who just won't leave you alone and wants to know where you are at all times. I relate to Pam on that part. ANYWAY. WHY was she so slow to help Donovan. I hate that other lady so much but it was expected. the scene in the bathroom was soo creepy. Like why didn't Pam call the police right away. why she asking Aood for help, LIKE MOVEEE also she THINKS Donovan would play that type of prank on her?? im still in the middle of watching just had to let it out. idk why just pissed me off.Based on the other reviews I think I will just drop things. I honestly can't see this going worst than it is already. I SHIPPED THEM SO MUCH!!

Outstanding Cast
A-list Korean actors in this series save it from being another banal treatise on the excesses of the super rich. Kim Ji-won does an outstanding job as the brittle, cold, and superficial FL (Hong Hae-in) who is fabulously wealthy and--as it turns out--tough as nails. The ML, Kim Soo-hyun plays the kind, honest, handsome, athletic, intelligent Baek Hyeon-woo, who (for some reason) can’t get enough of Hae-in, who deigns to throw him a crumb now and then. In spite of the threadworn plot, the writing and acting give this drama a boost and elevate it to a higher level.
Unlike other Korean series, this one showcases some secondary characters who can actually hold the viewers’ interest.

Navigating Careers & Relationships
What I enjoyed :The Career Grit: I admired Ruoxin’s durability. She navigated messy office politics with poise and successfully pivoted her career while staying true to herself.
Strong Mentorship: Having a no-nonsense leader like Lisa made such a difference! I just wish her lead boss, Mr. Xu, had stayed a mentor instead of trying to date her. Too bad we didn’t get more scenes with Lisa at work.
The "Mom" Duo: This was actually my favorite part! I loved how the two moms became best friends. Xiao’s mom was so sweet and respectful, helping Ruoxin’s mom see life from a different, more open perspective.
The Sincere Payoff: Xiao was so earnest. While the slow-burn move from assistant to lover was a bit frustrating at times, the happy ending was worth the wait. It took a while for them to figure things out and overcome the mom barrier! He was steadfast and such a calm presence for Ruoxin.
Final Take: I personally preferred Why Women Love—it was easier for me to watch and the male lead felt a bit more mature from the start!
