Disjointed Storytelling with Minimal Narrative Drive. A Low Priority Even for Existing Fans.
I liked a few subplots, the soundtrack, and the use of reincarnated characters. However, I didn’t enjoy this drama overall. While most of Samael and Lilith’s productions are a bit disjointed due to their low budgets, they usually still carry meaningful momentum. This one, though, felt haphazard and random, with no real narrative beyond showcasing tension between the leads. It lacked the depth and potential I’ve come to expect from their work, which is unusual for them.If you’re new to watching Samael and Lilith, I wouldn’t use this drama as a benchmark — it’s one of their earlier productions. And if you’re already a fan, I wouldn’t place this high on your watchlist.

I’m here for the 2 leads
It was on the OK radar for me, not special but I can watch the whole episodesI’m here just for the 2 main leads, both are my fave
Good chemistry , I like the female character.
Actually other than chemistry the story doesn’t actually give you anything much interesting, the male lead background story a bit dragging in the end
But again the chemistry and all the romance save it hahaha

Messy at Times, Still Intriguing, but Weighed Down by Length
I enjoyed this overall, though it was a bit of a strange watch due to how exaggerated and messy some of the character dynamics can feel at times. The title itself can be read in a couple of ways, which ties into the drama’s focus on loyalty, obsession, and complicated relationships between the main characters and those around them.Despite some reservations, I stayed invested because the story explores several strong themes and gives its characters room to develop. That said, the pacing does start to drag in the latter half, which can happen with longer-format dramas where certain stretches feel more drawn out than necessary.
I also found the conclusion somewhat uneven. It leans heavily on its source material, but not all of the narrative threads are fully smoothed out on screen, which may leave viewers feeling like the final stretch moves quickly compared to what comes before. Overall, it’s a drama that works better if you’re already familiar with its original novel or willing to go with some of its more abrupt storytelling choices.

Gems!!!
Diving to this drama with no expectation except that it will be heavily female centric, yes in a way, but it was so much much more.Chinese tittle 家业 embodies it perfectly, and it capture the essence of Chinese family value and done it so tastefully. Bittersweet and beautiful.
Acting is top notch, no words are needed, they compliment each other
Soundtrack is fitting (though none stood out)
It is a drama that you need to savor little by little not to be binged
The one lacking is only the plot for the male lead but it was minor

Long Watch That Lost My Interest. Couldn’t Connect with the Story or Characters.
In the same vein of reminding myself not to feel pressured to finish everything I start, it’s time for me to move on from this. I initially started it as part of a personal project to watch everything Yan Zixian has starred in. However, I haven’t been enjoying it and I can't bring myself to watch the final four. So it feels like the right time to put this one to bed.Based on 60 episodes, it’s simply not my cup of tea. While the overall concept—a bar run by a dragon in modern times, a demon slayer appearing as a customer, and cases that involve traveling back in time—is interesting in theory, the individual stories just didn’t hold my attention, and I never became attached to the characters.

AMAZING! DESERVES ALL THE HYPE!
it's a shame that it's not realistically applicable because it seems like a lot of countries need this system right now. you can nitpick a few things here and there but they don't affect the show in any meaningful way. i loved LOVED it cuz finally bullies were getting slammed in kdramas and im thrilled cuz they annoy the fuck out of me in every school drama. anyways, amazing binge watch worthy show. deserves all the popularity and hype it is receiving. Was this review helpful to you?
A Folklore-Inspired Mystery with Mixed Execution
I have mixed feelings about this drama. It is structured around a series of investigation cases, each intended to carry a spooky, folklore-inspired atmosphere tied to different regions. However, I didn’t feel this concept was consistently executed throughout the series. A noticeable portion of the later episodes leans more toward conventional investigative storytelling rather than maintaining the eerie or supernatural tone introduced early on.The beginning stood out to me the most, as it leaned heavily into its atmospheric and unsettling elements. The sound design, setting, and overall mood were especially strong and created a compelling sense of mystery. These early episodes were where the drama felt most distinctive and engaging for me.
As the series progressed, the tone shifted and the remaining cases felt more grounded and procedural, which didn’t hold my interest in the same way. I also struggled to connect with the romance subplot. That said, the performances were solid throughout, and the martial arts and action choreography were definite highlights.
Overall, I appreciated what the drama was trying to do, but I personally wished it had leaned more consistently into its darker, folklore-inspired direction.

A Hidden Gem That Deserves More Attention
This drama doesn’t get talked about enough, likely because it’s a bit dated—but I believe it’s a hidden gem. It’s a fast and enjoyable watch. The characters are goofy and comedic, yet the narrative revolves around a serious plot. I thought it struck a nice balance, keeping me engaged and guiding me through the story at a steady, satisfying paceWas this review helpful to you?
Dropped: Struggled with the Writing and Pacing
I’m sorry, folks, but this just wasn’t the drama for me. I made it a little past the halfway point but couldn’t bring myself to continue. I struggled with both the pacing and the writing. The story didn’t really draw me in, and I didn’t feel particularly engaged with the lead dynamic or the overall direction of the narrative. The humor didn’t land for me, and the conflicts didn’t feel especially compelling. I kept watching, hoping it would pick up or become more engaging, but it ultimately never clicked for me.

Unapologetically Entertaining: A Pure Guilty Pleasure Watch
This is 100% a guilty pleasure for me. I really enjoy Qi Xiaxia as a performer—she often plays commanding roles, and I especially like her pairing with Jin Chao. Their on-screen chemistry is a big part of what makes this work for me. If you’re not drawn to their particular style of character dynamics, this may not be your type of watch. Jin Chao also delivers a strong performance here, and the two of them together really carry the show. The overall plot is solid, but for me, the main appeal is definitely their chemistry and interactions rather than anything else. Was this review helpful to you?
Boring
Can’t continue, too boring, yes the concept of reverse role is novel but that’s about it. Nothing can hook me to continueThe female lead only 1 expression for all kind of emotion (or lack thereof)
the pace of selecting husband is too dragging, just choose one already, you are the head of a matriarchal family, choose the one benefit your business as your main husband and you can have whomever you want as concubine.
The family dynamic is ok but the actors aren’t convincing me

A Mysterious, Character-Driven Comedy with Strong Pacing
I really liked this drama. It features an interesting (almost unique) storyline that isn’t too predictable, giving it a mysterious undertone as it develops through character-driven plots. At the same time, it is highly comedic, especially in the beginning. The pacing is well-balanced, the character dynamics work, and the subplots are engaging. It’s short enough to fit into a busy work schedule but long enough for those who prefer full-length dramas over mini dramas (this is not a micro drama). However, the ending is a cliffhanger, and we are still waiting for a second season—which I would love—because the finale introduces a wildly new and growing conflict that would be great to explore in another season. Was this review helpful to you?
A Unique Transmigration Drama with a Meta Twist
I enjoyed this watch, though it has been a while since I saw it. I do remember it being an engaging and easy-to-follow drama with interesting narrative ideas, well-paced subplots, and strong character interactions. At the time it was released, it felt quite unique to me, especially in how it played with storytelling structure and genre conventions.I hadn’t seen many transmigration-based stories or dramas that incorporate a metafiction-style narrative element, so this one stood out. The characters and their dynamics kept me invested throughout, and the overall concept felt fresh compared to other dramas I had watched at the time.
If you enjoyed dramas like Different Princess or Fortune Writer, you may find this one appealing as well.

A Favorite Among Their Immortal Romance Tales
This is a low-budget and choppily executed drama by two cosplay performers—but I loved it. If you can look past the unpolished filming and raw performances, the storyline is actually really compelling, and that’s what draws me into most Samael and Lilith productions. Their work often feels underdeveloped, but the content is usually rich, and this particular narrative ranks high on my list of their dramas to watch first. They retell this story in a few of their other dramas as well, which they also do with several recurring themes. In this version, they expand on the narrative to tell a love story between an immortal snake and a woman, set across time and during the Republic era.Was this review helpful to you?
A Flawed Fox Demon Story Worth Discovering
This is a strange drama, and it certainly has its share of plot holes and underdeveloped storylines. Despite those flaws, I still enjoyed it. For me, it's something of a hidden gem—a low-budget production whose shortcomings are easy to overlook because of its unique premise and the presence of a fox demon lead. The short runtime made it easy to push past some of the execution issues, while the themes and subplots were intriguing enough to keep me invested in where the story was headed. I would have loved to see a second season to explore some of the unanswered questions and unresolved threads, as those mysteries were among the aspects that interested me most. Was this review helpful to you?
