A mind boggling adventure
This drama was pretty good I must say. it started off incredibly strong, but the whole time you’re guessing. The entire show is a massive guessing game!I didn’t mind it, but I will admit it gets to a point later on that you don’t wanna guess anymore.
The acting was phenomenal! The psychopaths really made me think they’re crazy irl lol!
The main thing tho is that there were a lot of open, empty, plots and endings. Some things honestly shouldn’t have been added.

the first thing is that the main focus for a lot of the drama is Sooheon’s brain tumor. It’s mentioned at LEAST 4 times every single episode, but nothing comes of it! He got hit upside the head with HEAVY objects probably 7 or 8 times the whole show and it didn’t make the tumor or his condition worse?? Is he invincible?? Then at the end it’s an open ending so you don’t know what happened to him at the end! Since I’m on the topic of Sooheon, why did he run after Osung fell?? He was attacked and had a witness to it! It would have 100% been self defense. Yet he dropped out and was never caught for a single thing he did? We never hear from the rapist dude with the messed up foot again either. Okay…..
Chanmi could have been such a bada** character dude! It genuinely makes me so upset that she had no backbone except for 1 time when she beat the girl to a pulp in the hallway! The rest of the show she would hear one singular theory that someone was the killer and then fully commit to the bit that it’s them and freaks out on them for no reason with NO EVIDENCE!! It was actually so embarrassing for her! She’s all bark no bite! She talked a big game about killing the murderer and then didn’t. Cool…
I hate that we couldn’t see any reactions from Gi Osung’s dad at the end! He made a big scene about everything like he was gonna help him, then disappears from the show entirely.
What was the point of Sejin coming back at the END to tell Chanmi he was dating her brother!? That was the most random thing the writers could have added!! First Wonseok was a jerk, then he was a nice person, then he offed him self, then he was murdered, now he’s gay!! (Nothing wrong with that btw, I’m bi, just super random!) like writers please make up your mind!!
I think overall everyone was wayyyy too rash about literally every single thing they did! If they calmed down and used their brain before making a move they could have saved themselves half the trouble they endured! One being they could have saved Wonseok’s phone if they just contacted the police first!! They would have done a sting operation and recovered it! Jaebum and Osung would have been caught instantly too!
Anyway I complained a lot, but I still really enjoyed this drama! I don’t regret watching it at all! It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time so I’m glad I watched it!!

1No, the romance is NOT icky despite the real life age gap. Don't worry!
Subjective Gut Rating: 8.75If you were hesitant to watch “Key to the Phoenix Heart” due to the real life age gap between Hou Ming Hao and Ai Mi, don’t worry. They did NOT give me an icky feeling. The romance is very chaste, and it helps that they are both intelligent characters and a power couple that viewers can root for.
I really have low to no expectations of this drama but I heard from a trusted MDL friend that it’s good. And you know what, I was pleasantly surprised. The drama is only 28 episodes long, well-paced and decently-acted. What surprises me the most is that given a pretty common Chinese historical drama plot - court politics, revenge, war between north and south, it is still able to surprise me with different plot twists. And these surprises are spread out throughout the drama, too. Therefore, it keeps me engaged for all 28 episodes. The characters are true to themselves from start to finish. I’m so glad we don’t have a ML who becomes a lovesick puppy and forgets who he is before he’s in love. You know, that’s a pet peeve of mine. If I have to criticize the plot, I would have to say it’s the explanation/history of the “keys” and the doctor who made a promise with 2ML. These were not explained very well in the drama and I sorta have to take them as-is.
The acting is decent. I am not sure I can say this is the best I’ve ever seen Hou Ming Hao. But I was super impressed with his acting in ep 25 during the execution scene (I noted this down and that’s how impressive I am! LOL). Ai Mi has been acting since she’s very young. I’ve always liked her in supporting roles. Playing Xie Jia Y suits her as the young inventor being spoiled and protected by her family. She may not exude that charisma/presence of a female lead just yet, but she will get there soon. Afterall, she’s only 18 years old. Riley’s acting was a mixed bag and I’ve always liked him. Maybe compared to Hou Ming Hao, he just pales in comparison a tiny bit. But the veterans are great. Peter Ho as FL’s dad and Tao Xin Ran as the empress are awesome. The rest of the supporting cast, both young and old’s performances aren’t too bad.
As I mentioned, the romance is simple and chaste and that is to be expected. The leads do have pretty good chemistry and play off each other well in the lighter scenes. I’m always a fan of smart characters and I’m glad FL, though young, definitely holds her own standing next to ML, supporting him throughout his journey. If I have to pick on something, I want to see how they fall in love, especially from the FL’s side. The process of falling in love is too subtle. I might want a few more happy couple scenes, before they get busy with politics, revenge and war. But this is only a minor criticism. The love triangle is not too torturous, but I was actually hoping for a little more angst and yearning (I am not saying I want an evil and clingy ex). It’s just the puppy first love doesn’t seem that impactful to give me a gut punch. I think it’s also probably because FL is just way too mature to give me that angsty satisfaction.
The production quality is decent. Everyone looks great in their pretty hairstyles and outfits. But what is up with the make up??? I am not sure if it’s because I’m watching on a high definition TV, but the white and cakey foundation is too distracting. It’s especially visible on the handsome Hou Ming Hao. The songs are not too distracting or overplayed, though not super memorable either.
I would definitely recommend this drama if you are a fan of the genre. It takes a pretty common plot, infuses it with twists and turns throughout the drama, before taking us to the final destination. The journey is very pleasurable. It’s well-paced, decently-acted with a romance that for the most part works out very well. Therefore, I am giving this a high 8.75 rating for still being able to surprise a drama veteran like me.

Great Foundation, But Missed Opportunities and a Rushed Finale
Right from the start, the lead selection felt a bit off. There is a noticeable visual age gap; the female lead looks visibly older, while the male lead looks quite young, creating a clash in their visual chemistry. This extended into their character dynamics as well. Having a female lead who is essentially two souls merged into one (due to reincarnation) paired up against such a young male lead made their overall dynamic feel disjointed early on.Yet, the historical foundation of the plot is fascinating, drawing clever inspiration from real Ming Dynasty history; specifically the power struggles among the royal brothers, their tragic demises, and the sole remaining heir who ascends the throne to enact major reforms.
The acting from the female lead is fantastic and deeply expressive. Her headstrong persona mirrors a very specific, popular archetype we’ve seen across recent C-dramas (like the leads, Dilraba and Gulnazar ). While she executed it well, I wish directors would isolate their characters more rather than following current aesthetic trends; thus giving these novel adaptations a stronger sense of individuality. Kinda what we've seen with dramas like LLTG or The Double.
Where this drama truly shines is its supporting cast and genre versatility. It blends palace intrigue, military politics, spiritual elements, and a revenge plot; offering a little bit of something for everyone.
The Marquise: A absolute scene-stealer! She is not only stunning, but her physical acting and fighting capability (whether doing her own stunts or working seamlessly with a stunt double) were amazing. She deserved way more screen time.
The Martial Arts & Military Cast: The young fighter alongside the Crown Prince and the military-minded younger prince were both incredibly believable and well-cast. Their action scenes were crisp, and I would love to see this group reunited in a full-fledged military or strategic drama!
The Prince & The Veterans: The 5th Prince’s actor brought a wildly unhinged, crazy-eyed energy with matching dramatic makeup that definitely stood out. Meanwhile, the veteran actors playing the Emperor, Consort Rong, and the Grand Dowager delivered the exact high-caliber performance you expect.
The Younger Gu Sister: Her character gave off distinct short vertical drama vibes. Her dramatic delivery felt a bit unanchored compared to the main show's pacing, though the reveal of her palace schemes being orchestrated by the Grand Dowager was a neat touch.
The Ending Problem: Rushed Pacing & Missed Potential
Unfortunately, the final stretch (Episodes 36 and 37) falls into familiar C-drama trapdoors:
The Fake Death & Cure Arc: The male lead fakes his death to travel for four years to find a cure, but we see none of that journey. It would have been so much more sophisticated if he had left a trail of subtle yearly hints for the female lead. Instead, he just reappears with gray hair; only to immediately need her to nurse him back to health again, pulling her right back into a domestic caretaker role.
Court Navigation Missed: After her coronation as Grand Dowager, we barely get to see her navigate the court. Instead of fast-forwarding, the writers could have easily turned this into four rich episodes, with each episode spanning a year of her managing court politics.
The Disconnected Family Dynamic: The dynamic between the male lead and his four-year-old son felt unnecessarily cold. Leaving written notes isn't a substitute for real bonding, and excluding the child from key emotional reunions made the family dynamic feel strange.
Final Thoughts
While the 5th Prince’s twist; playing the traitor to make sure the female lead was hailed as a savior...was a dramatic sacrifice, it still leaned into tropes we’ve kind of seen before.
Blossoms of Power has a fantastic historical backdrop, great action, and an incredible ensemble cast. While budget and episode constraints ultimately rushed its final act, it remains a very entertaining watch for fans of multi-genre historical dramas!

Be Patient—I Think You'll Love It.
When I say this drama is perfect, I truly mean it.The characters are incredible—every single one of them. The main cast is exceptionally well-written, the supporting characters are just as memorable, and the villains? You'll absolutely despise them, which means they did their job perfectly.
And then there's the main couple. Their chemistry is amazing. Sure, who doesn't love a devoted male lead? But that's not even the best part. What really stood out to me was how healthy their relationship is. I genuinely don't understand the obsession with toxic and overly possessive romances when this drama gives us something so much better: someone who says, "You don't belong to anyone. You were meant to shine on your own, and I'll be right here cheering you on."
I absolutely loved that.
So watch it without hesitation. I can't recommend it enough. The dialogue is fantastic, and despite dealing with some genuinely heavy themes, the show balances everything with so many hilarious moments.
And the second couple? They completely stole the show for me. I laughed so much because of them.
Honestly, everything about this drama just works. I already know I'm going to have the worst post-drama slump once it's over, but I completely fell in love with it.

A Wholesome Drama That Leaves a Lasting Impression
I have watched a lot of dramas but Road to Success genuinely felt fresh & original. It’s one of those dramas that quietly grows on you. It does justice to all of its genres balancing sports, romance and psychological themes really well.
It’s a life focused drama, so the slower pace feels fitting and it has enough substance to justify its 32 episodes. The story unfolds naturally with both the narrative and character development progressing organically. Even the slight suspense elements are executed well and kept me invested until the very end. The drama stays strong throughout.
The characters are nuanced and thoughtfully written. They aren’t unrealistically perfect which makes them feel grounded and authentic.
The cast suited their roles well and the bonds between the characters are portrayed so naturally that every relationship feels genuine. I enjoyed watching Esther yu and Chen Jingke in these roles. A special mention goes to the actors who played the student football team, their performances felt incredibly raw.
Romance isn’t the main focus but it’s portrayed in such a mature and heartwarming way. It’s well developed & the emotional payoff is satisfying. I also find some of the interactions between the leads pretty refreshing and interesting.
The drama explores many themes including career changes, different family dynamics, false accusations, slut-shaming and mental health struggles among many others. It delivered these topics well. This drama covers many heavy themes but it also filled with plenty of light hearted themes, so the story never feels depressing. I also loved its portrayal of women’s empowerment which felt genuine rather than forced.
The story and message of this drama feel especially relevant today. It beautifully highlights the importance of individuality, personal growth, healthy boundaries and the value of community and support. At its core, the drama is about perseverance, staying true to yourself and finding strength through meaningful connections. The ending is the perfect cherry on top, as it stays true to the drama’s core themes and message.
It’s not without flaws. There are a few cliché and cheesy moments that I honestly don’t think this story needed and there are some areas that could have been improved. However, those are only minor issues in an otherwise wholesome, well written and emotionally satisfying drama.
Overall, I would highly recommend Road to Success. It’s smthg different and kind of a story that stays with you long after you finish it. It’s a great choice for viewers who enjoy life focused character driven stories, thought provoking themes and an emotionally rewarding journey.
That said, it might not be for those looking for a fast paced drama or an intense romance.

July 27, 2026The Prosecutor's Proposal could have been that S-tier BL of the year for me if only the last two episodes did not feel so rushed. I know that it has to be condensed from the original work since it is an adaptation and the budget is limited. However, I wish these two can do another BL project cause their chemistry is chef's kiss. It is so amazing, it was overflowing all over the screen.
They definitely brought the hype for KBL again, and I truly love the attention they are getting. I would definitely recommend this show if you like a shorter and fast pacing plot!

Fun Theatrics and Beautiful Visuals with a Mix of Slow-burn Romance and Underwhelming Plot
I honestly have mixed feelings about this drama. I found the starting and ending rather underwhelming but there was a huge chunk of the drama which I enjoyed so much. There were days when I loved it with my everything but also times when even 1.5x speed wasn’t fast enough to get me through the mind-numbing story.The premise of this drama is simple and unoriginal but among the sea of rebirth tropes, Blossoms of Power tries a little something different. Instead of Gu Qingzhi’s soul taking over Xihe’s body, in the event of a rare celestial phenomenon when Xihe has a close brush with death - Gu Qingzhi and Shen Xihe’s souls integrate together to form a third entity who possess both of their skills and memories. At first, it seems a little more than a censorship to make marrying her brother-in-law seem less awkward since the new Xihe absorbs all the personality and traits of Qingzhi, and Xihe’s memories just serves as a convenient perk but as the story progresses, you can feel more of Xihe in her carefree and openness and it becomes easier to accept her as a new persona.
Xihe is cunning, decisive and straightforward, she says what she wants outright and is capable of handling any situation on her own. Unlike the regular rebirth plot, her motive is not revenge but a better and secured life. Gu Qingzhi’s life had a closure without regrets, and she completed her revenge with her death so in this new life, her only goal is to have enough power to protect herself and her loved ones and to live a good life. And thus, she looks for a marriage alliance not of love but of mutual trust and aligned goals.
Xiao Huayong is personally in a league of his own and is the single most reason I enjoyed this drama so much. I don’t know about original, but he is such a breadth of fresh air. Huayong is scheming, manipulative, a little delusional, insanely dramatic and cheeky but so incredibly understanding, caring and unapologetically in love. There has never been a man so frail yet formidable and his weaponized coughs and handy fainting techniques are the heart of this drama. Honestly, I cannot praise He Yu enough for embodying Huayong to this level of perfection. Huayong’s scheming mind, his sincere heart, his yearning, his joy and sadness was expressed so beautifully in his eyes and expressions that I could not look away every time he was on screen. Not to mention he looks simply ethereal in this styling.
Both the leads are smart, calculating, evenly matched and so on top of their game that no other character came close to winning. In its core, Blossoms of Power is a romance, even if the romance included Huayong chasing Xihe for the better part of the story, but their strong chemistry and Huayong’s never-ending antics never made me feel tired of their slow progressing romance. I understood Xihe’s caution and appreciated Huayong’s understanding, devotion and love that knew no bounds. And personally, to see them finally together and in love was so worth the wait.
The plot on the other hand seemed very unimpressive to me. The level of uninterest I showed in it was a personal feat for me. I don't know if it’s because I was so invested in the fillers that everything else paled in comparison or the writing and execution was that poor but from the political intrigue to palace drama, the plot felt very shallow that just came and went. There was no suspense, no setbacks and logic took a backseat where frequent assassination attempts and fire breakouts merely served as a momentary spectacle and every hindrance was solved by the FL’s preternatural sense of smell and extraordinary talent in incense-making.
The character writing had better luck as most of the characters had genuinely interesting settings and was refreshing to watch. The second couple was really enjoyable and had good chemistry, and Bu Shulin has to be one of the best cross-dressing in dramas ever. The princes were written rather unconventionally - entangled in their love lives instead of the battle for the throne. And while sometimes a little too much, I appreciated their sincerity and devotion to their partners since it's something we rarely see in dramas. Other supporting characters were also refreshingly different but unfortunately weren’t developed enough. Their backstories and development were messy and lacking which made them hard to connect to. Even their deaths felt more anticlimactic than sad because despite the decent emotional setting, there was little buildup leading to it.
Visually, it was really beautiful. The production, the cinematography, the costumes and the styling was absolutely stunning and really pleasing to watch. The osts were also really good and I absolutely loved Zhou Shen’s Bustling Mortal World which made the story so much more beautiful to me.
Overall, I really did love this drama a lot even if I wish I could’ve enjoyed it a little more. Blossoms of Power has a lot of flaws, from the shaky pacing to underwhelming plot so I probably wouldn't recommend it for its politics and plot but for the romance and Huayong’s tireless theatrics, this drama was so worth it and I absolutely do not regret watching it.

Great Chemistry with The Pacing Hiccup
Never-Ending Summer has all the ingredients to be the next mega-hit like Hidden Love or The First Frost. It’s a gorgeous, well-made youth-to-adult reunion romance that absolutely nails the vibe. The cinematography is stunning, the production value is chef’s kiss, and it completely ditches the tired, annoying clichés we usually see in contemporary rom-coms. But… this drama utilizes my most hated structural choice from the writers of the second chance romance— the uneven distribution of the youth and adult story arcs. And that really affected a lot of things that were the end of the show. I will talk about this in detail later on. That’s the reason why I didn’t give it a 10 out of 10.The Vibe & The Plot
The first half (or rather 2/3) of the story captures the emotional atmosphere of a post-graduation youth romance between a rebellious young man from a rich family and a resilient young woman from a broken home fighting her fate against all odds. In the first part of the drama, the characters navigate personal hardships over a single, life-changing summer while slowly falling for each other. Unfortunately, they can’t be together for a number of reasons. The narrative then jumps ten years into the future, moving to a professional corporate backdrop where the characters must investigate a long-forgotten factory accident and face each other and their own feelings for each other.
The Stars of the Show
The chemistry between the leads is totally seamless, natural, and served without any annoying fuss.
Daniel Zhou as Lu Xixiao—Wow. Just wow. This is my first time seeing him(I haven't watched Sniper Butterfly yet), and he is a phenomenal young talent! I was quite surprised by the quality of his acting, considering he doesn’t have many titles under his belt. His character, Lu Xixiao, comes off like a reckless bad boy at the beginning, but a few episodes in we can already tell he is truly, truly lonely. As we get to know more about him and his story, it is heartbreaking. Lu Xixiao is a deeply multi-layered character; on the outside, he carries that defensive, wealthy-heir armor, but underneath, he is just a starved-for-affection soul who anchors his entire world around Zhou Wan. His father sees him as a pawn on a chessboard, and the only relative who actually truly cares for what Lu Xixiao wants is his aunt but she’s just too busy to give him time and attention. Even his grandfather doesn’t quite understand him. Daniel Zhou's character development here is easily one of the best, most well-rounded, and most consistent I've seen for a contemporary male lead in a very long time. He is never ever over the top and just seems extremely comfortable in this role. Additionally, I truly appreciate him speaking English quite a lot in this drama. His fluent in it so this was a treat.
I wasn't sure how Bao Shang'en as Zhou Wan would turn out. She started off a bit stiff, which reminded me her previous roles, and I was hoping that she was going to give us a little bit more energy, but as we take this journey with her further into the drama, she completely locked in. I think that stiffness at the beginning was partially what the role dictated. I liked her in this role the most out of all the roles I’ve seen her in before! I would say that she’s improved as an actress a lot.
Zhou Wan is a quiet and hardworking top student who is desperate to fund her critically ill grandmother's surgery. And I appreciate the fact that her character is morally gray because she will do whatever she has to do to ensure her grandmother gets the help she needs. Which includes her using Lu Xixiao to get the money from her biological mother. But we obviously know how that turned out. Girl couldn’t withstand his brooding charm.
The romance is so deep because they are two people from completely different social classes who just cannot get over each other. Plus, the show doesn't waste time on annoying extra characters or filler plots! Everything feels compact, and the emotional scenes are masterfully done. Some of the standout episodes: Zhou Wan getting assaulted and not telling anyone (absolutely heartbreaking to watch her keeping quiet), when Lu Xixiao gets stabbed, her grandma passing away, and many more. The soundtrack also hits you straight in the feels.
The Pacing Quirks (Let's Talk Spoilers)
Okay, here is my main grievance: the writers made the choice to give the youth/high school arc 20 out of the 30 total episodes. Why do C-dramas keep doing this?! Leaving only 10 or fewer episodes for the adult/reunion arc made the pacing a bit uneven. By episode 18, I felt like we were wasting precious time that could have been spent on their grown-up lives.
Because the adult arc was so compressed, the second half felt a bit superficial. We missed out on exploring Lu Xixiao's intense family dynamics, and the reintroduction of Zhou Wan into his adult life deserved way more room to breathe. Instead, the narrative got a bit choked up:
* The Grandfather Cop-Out: The grandfather was the literal catalyst who forced Zhou Wan to leave the man she loved. Yet, due to the lack of episodes, his entire opposition is resolved in one single scene where he just goes, “Okay fine, you can be together." Excuse me?!” This is definitely an opportunity on the missed family dynamics.
* The Cohabitation Excuse: Because they ran out of time, Lu Xixiao gets Zhou Wan to move into his house by basically telling her she "owes him." It made zero sense. And she just accepted? He tells her that they have to sleep in one bed after 10 years apart and this girl doesn’t even batt an eyelash. There should have been a lot more push and pull between the two. Give us 5 more episodes, and this reunion could have been so much smoother and more interesting!
So yeah. I wasn’t a big fan of how the writers messed up on the reunion arc.
The Final Verdict
Despite the writers hitting the fast-forward button on the adult arc, this is still a high-quality romance drama with superb acting, unmatched chemistry, and heavy emotional payoff. You will feel all the feelings. Definitely give it a watch!

Aro Rep like you've never seen it before
Genuinely, so floored by how well this show handled its aro rep, literal goosebumps on my skin after watching ep 4. It was obvious to me since episode 2ish that Kei fell somewhere in the aro spectrum (i'd argue even the ace one, looking forward to see how and whether the show tackles that in the coming episodes. Because we have had Fumi mention the lack of bedroom activity between them to his friends) but characters exhibiting feelings and/or behaviour that places them in the aroace spec is fairly common in bls, but it being actually intentional? and being addressed by the show? never in all my years of watching bl have i actually stumbled across it prior to this.Adored to pieces how they breadcrumbed the aroness in the episodes leading to this and allowed for the audience to come to its own conclusion on it before actually addressing it using miku-kun. The fact that the aro conversation wasn't something that came out of the blue, but a much needed addressing of something that had been there since the start of the show (and in fumi and kei's relationship, even causing a rift between them in episodes prior when fumi thought kei didnt see him in a romantic light because it took much longer for kei to develop feelings for fumi, that it did for fumi to develop feelings for kei), genuinely meant so so much both narratively speaking and in the aro rep not seeming half hearted.
When it came to the actual scene between miku-kun and fumi at the restaurant. God, it wouldnt be too far to say i adored and cherished every second of it. Finding companionship in fellow people that precent aro and ace is such an inherent aroace experience. The stark lack of this thing (whether it be romantic love or the desire to have sex) that society hypes so much as sees as a fundamental part of the human experience, can leave you feeling so so unbelievably isolated from your peers and society at large, so to find someone who shares an iota of your experience is like being thrown a lifeline. That companionship alone can get you through the roughest parts of struggling with your identity and coming into terms with yourself. It can help you feel just that bit more normal and not like a freak, because even when you struggle to accept yourself for who you are, if this other person whom you know and love is also just like you, doesn't that make whatever you are, just that bit more okay as well?
So to have that anchor of a person torn from you in the worse sense (falling in love, the way neither of you were supposed to be able to) its an ugly unwanted thing, but that feels like a betrayal of the worst kind, even when you want to be happy for them. The restaurant scene exploring all that so artfully with fumi as the mediator for that conversation. urgh. my heart. stuff of dreams genuine to god speaking.
I would have been fully satisfied with that being all we got from this episode. heck, from this show. but futsu no renai goes the extra step further and gives us even more. in the form of kei and miku-kun's conversation as they both part ways from fumi and head home. When i tell you my jaw was on the floor in response to miku-kun pulling the big a (aromatic) out on kei, and i was crying screaming throwing up by the point kei bought up the demi label. words cannot express how floored and grateful and impressed i am at this show for not just giving us banger aro rep, but really committing to the move and going all the way with it???????
Genuinely adored how plot relevant both the conversations were, and i cannot for the love of me emphasize how important them saying the words aromatic and demiromantic as a part of the dialogue was, because all we aroace folk have had up until this point in terms of aro rep has been Crumbs so far. Hypothesis based on characters' actions and throw away dialogue, and assumptions based off of their storylines. So to have a show not shy away one bit from saying the terms Aromatic and Demiromantic but also to make these themes and aromatic people's lived experiences such a core aspect and message of its storyline is just the most amazing thing ever honestly.
I've definitely grown to love the show's title all the more since this episode. With how obvious its become that exploring these kinds of topics was the original intention of this show to even begin with. Starting from something as fundamental as its title. I can't wait to see all the other unconventional forms of love we'll explore with our lovely characters for the rest of its runtime.

Came in expecting an other plot, stayed because I couldn't look away
I thought it was going to be a drama where a man and a woman swap bodies and we follow their story. I realised early on I was mistaken. I was originally highly disappointed that we were only following the story of Jang Bong Hwan. I was expecting to drop it unless the plot hooked me. And hook me it did!There was a good ratio of character progression, fun moments and intensity. I ended up binging it in a few days because I couldn't bear not knowing what would happen next. It's also ironic that "a man inside of a woman's body" ended up feeling like a more "accurate and realistic" depiction of a modern woman than we see in some other dramas. I thought it served a fun and light hearted portrayal and parallel to other representations.

I have to say the chemistry and writing made me crave to see more intimacy between the main leads. The show ended up showcasing the absolute minimum I needed to stay in. Any less and I might've screamed and stopped the show. Perhaps it's my greed talking but the writers did a fantastic job in making us root for them. And so I felt like I wanted to see more.
About the ending, I was disappointed in the fact than Jang Bong Hwan went back to his own body. I understand it often feels like an mandatory plot point of those types of dramas. The romance and love belonged to Jang Bong Hwan and Cheol Jong, and it feels like a band-aid to then match So Young and the King together. I would've loved to see the story progress in a way where So Young is now able to explore the choices that she decides to make for herself and her own dreams in Bong Hwan's body, while the two other leads in Joseon get to work together for a better future for themselves and the nation. But amongst all the endings they could've done, I still enjoy that So Young's life wasn't just discarded away and was given a real resolution.

se a história fosse mais simples, esperaria menos dele
Pra um Dorama de comédia romântica, é bom. Não é o melhor, mas o casal principal, cada protagonista da sua forma, cativa e vira um romance bom de assistir.Mas pra um Dorama que prometeu muito no desenvolvimento da trama, entregou muito pouco, e nos últimos episódios eles quiseram acabar com tudo o que tinham criado de história em cenas muito vazias e que me deixaram até agora confusa. As viagens no tempo da protagonista, a vez que ela se despediu do SeGye e depois se tocou que não iria voltar, ela podendo simplesmente escolher no final aonde queria ir depois de se sacrificar pela vida do protagonista.
O Choi Mun-Do um vilão pouco convincente. A última cena em que ele apareceu arrependido de ter perdido a chance de ser um bom pai depois de ouvir o sermão da SeoRi também não me convenceu.
O 🐕, que teve poucas aparições e depois nada mais; a figurante que não gostava dela e não deu pra saber se ela tinha sido comprada pelo MunDo ou se era algo pessoal...
Eu não esperava que as coisas fossem todas narradas e os mistérios fossem todos explicados, mas que fosse bem desenvolvido e fizesse sentido 🫡
Só reassistiria se fosse pra tentar ligar os pontos e compreender de verdade tudo que aconteceu, porque me frustrou ficar sem entender.
