18 episodes later, still asking why ???

The drama looked promising at first. I picked it purely for the tags since I'm not particularly attached to the cast.

Big mistake.

By the time I reached episode 9-10, it became painfully obvious that the plot is not progressing at all and nothing meaningful is happening . Unfortunately, it couldn't deliver even 20% of what it promised.

Let's talk about the comedy first.

What comedy???

Every pun. Every punchline. Every supposedly funny scene. All of it felt painfully forced.The natural humour, the kind that actually catches you off guard, is completely absent.

The leads didn't help either. Their cutesy antics are tolerable at first, then quickly become a sugar overdose. By the tenth episode, Everything became so overly cute that it started feeling nauseating and cringe.
Unfortunately, this affected their chemistry too. Because beneath all the flirting and cute moments, I couldn't feel any real connection between them.

The biggest reason?👇

Their goals are never in sync.

The FL spends most of the drama hiding her martial arts abilities behind a fragile-girl facade. Meanwhile, the ML spends most of *his* time manipulating situations for his own plans......Even when she needs help, he acts less like a partner and more like a chess player ... And she becomes another piece on the board.

So where exactly is the couple dynamic?

where is the romance?

Where is the trust?...the teamwork???

Because all I saw was flirting.

Lots of flirting.... Cheap thrills, teasing, accidental closeness, and those *"oops, we fell into each other's arms for the seventeenth time"* moments. But The romance itself?...Missing.


In a nutshell ~~

This was by far the most ridiculous romance plot I have ever seen. I spent 45 mins per episode and watched 18 episodes so far yet I am not sure why, when and how the leads started falling for each other.

8/10 A SILLY ADORABLE BL SERIES

Caged Again is such a refreshingly cute BL series with a unique twist. I've honestly never seen anything quite like it before. It's super fluffy, wholesome, and lighthearted. At first, I thought I wouldn't enjoy it because I felt like I might be too old for something this silly, but sometimes, you just need a soft, feel-good show like Caged Again.
The story follows Junior, a penguin kept in a zoo, who magically turns into a human. He ends up at a boarding school, where he meets Sun, a panther who also transforms into a human. Junior is bubbly, cheerful, and carefree, while Sun is the calm, quiet, and more reserved type, but over time, he warms up to Junior.
For me, Junior totally stole the show. He's such a lovable and sweet character, and the actor really nailed the role.
Even though the series is mostly light and fluffy, it doesn't completely shy away from heavier topics like bullying, which feels pretty realistic for a high school setting. Plus, there's a bit of a thriller vibe, with villains trying to capture and sell Junior and his penguin brother.
All the characters are hilarious: from Junior's group of friends and the bullies to the principal, school staff, the ghost, the gay couple, and even the villains. And don't even get me started on the cartoon scenes showing Junior and Sun as a penguin and panther, those were just too adorable.
It honestly felt like a nostalgic trip back to my childhood.
Beneath all the silliness, the show somehow manages to touch on the complexities of being human.
The actors are definitely underrated, but their performances are solid. The pacing is just right, not too slow, not too rushed. The only downsides for me were the weak audio and a few plot holes here and there. But overall, the plot holds up and gives me plenty of laughs.
It's easily one of the silliest and most unserious BL series I've watched, and that's exactly what made it so fun.

10/10 Beautifully Realistic, Deeply Emotional, and Quietly Devastating

This series is one of the most visually beautiful and emotionally realistic queer dramas I have watched in a long time. The cinematography is outstanding - every frame feels intentional, natural, and almost cinematic in a way that makes the story feel like real life rather than scripted fiction.
The pacing is slow but purposeful, allowing the emotions between characters to develop in a very grounded and human way.
The performances are subtle yet powerful. Instead of exaggerated drama, the actors rely on silence, expressions, and small gestures, which makes the emotional tension feel even stronger. The writing also deserves praise for treating every character with depth and equal importance, not just focusing on the main romance but also showing the complexity of surrounding relationships.
However, my only complaint is that there is not a single explicit kiss scene between the main leads, which makes some of the emotional buildup feel slightly restrained compared to the intensity of their connection.
Overall, this is a mature, artistic, and emotionally heavy series that stands out from typical BL dramas for its realism and cinematic quality. A must-watch for viewers who prefer depth over clichés.

Reloved The Series is a thoughtfully crafted series that explores love from university days to a second chance in adulthood. Overall, it stands out as another high-quality production with an engaging storyline and emotional depth.
One of the strongest aspects of the series is the central mystery surrounding the main couple - why they broke up in the past. Each episode gradually unfolds pieces of this puzzle, keeping viewers curious and invested. In my case, the final answers turned out to be different from what I initially expected, which made the viewing experience even more enjoyable.
The cast delivers solid performances, bringing their characters to life with charm and authenticity. Their portrayals help the emotional journey feel natural and relatable.
As a personal suggestion, each episode begins with flashbacks to the past. While this approach works thematically, presenting the past storyline in a more consolidated way might have made the overall narrative easier to follow and even more engaging.
Overall, Reloved The Series is a recommended watch for those who enjoy romantic dramas with lingering questions and emotional storytelling. The series is available for streaming on iQIYI.

leads' chemistry can't turn a coworker-abuse drama into a slapstick comedy

ML and FL relationship is very sweet. But the plot is mostly about how FL's coworkers/fellow students mercilessly bully her and threaten to/try to kill her and her unborn baby, and you really can't morph that into a slapstick comedy, no matter how sweet the leads are. Also, It's never explained how such a wonderful ML can raise such a HORRIBLE daughter who has such an evil character.

Also if you know a whole squad of people is after you trying to hurt you, maybe don't have the ML answer a call and say, "Let me take this call -- you go ahead and 1) go shopping, 2) go to your evil parent's house, 3) go to work, 4) go get a glass of champagne at the event." Maybe you both could make a plan together that doesn't result in her being a sitting duck.

9/10 Possibly one of the Best KBLs out here!

This was so refreshing, so good.. It took me by surprise! I wasn't expecting much from a Kol but it's by WeTV, and so, it delivered.
Best kissing ever, actual kissing, actual passion in all love scenes. They really did seem to sell their love to me rather than just playing dead fish like other Kbls or even Jbls.
The series is a visual delight.. What beautiful scenery and actors! Great cinematography, direction, everything.
I was so involved.
I don't have much to say other than the fact that it felt too rushed and cut short in the last two-three episodes but I am thankful for it because Thai BLs are too long unnecessarily.
lam so pleased I decided to watch it. Great job by everyone involved! WeTV, you nailed it!!

A strong first act undone by how it handles what comes after

The trailer sold this as forbidden love with an erotic edge, and underneath that, a toxic relationship. I went in with limited expectations and was, at least initially, pleasantly surprised. The series opens by taking the lived reality of queer people seriously — one family choosing silence and erasure, the other sending their son to America and forcing marriage, with a father who beats him near-daily for refusing and for trying to reach the person he loves. Letters intercepted, messages deleted by a sibling, a mutual misunderstanding built entirely on absence rather than betrayal. That's a genuinely strong foundation, and the chemistry between the leads felt real enough to carry it.

Honestly, the series could have ended once they found their way back to each other and resolved the misunderstanding. I think I even took a long break from watching around that point, which says something. What follows undoes most of the goodwill the opening earned.

The answer the show reaches for to explain violence and toxicity within the relationship is, once again, a psychiatric disorder — and I find that explanation exhausting at this point, because it does two things at once: it stereotypes the illness and it quietly absolves the person committing harm. A therapist telling the victim he's the only one who can get his abuser to accept help is something I had to sit with for a moment, because it's about as unprofessional a line as I've heard in this genre.

My issue isn't that the series includes mental illness or therapy. It's how simplistically it treats both. By the end, bipolar disorder feels less like a complex, lifelong condition and more like a plot device that can be resolved in time for a happy ending. Mental illness doesn't simply disappear after a short period of treatment. For many people, managing it is an ongoing process involving therapy, medication, setbacks, triggers, and periods of stability and crisis. Double Helix reduces that complexity to a convenient narrative solution, which I found both unrealistic and insensitive.

I want to be fair: I can get on board with toxic dynamics in fiction. That's not where my objection lives. My objection is with content that minimises, vaguely names, or stigmatises real harm while asking me to read it as romance. Non-consensual sex, drugging, captivity, repeated assault, all eventually folded into a redemption arc that treats mental illness as both cause and cure — that crosses a line for me regardless of how good the chemistry is elsewhere.

The series does have real strengths. The performances are strong, the early homophobia plot is handled with more honesty than I expected, and the second couple — the younger brother and his partner — genuinely outshines the central pairing by the end, precisely because their relationship is healthy in all the ways the main one isn't. But a good second couple and a strong first act can't fully offset what the main storyline becomes. Hard to recommend without significant caveats.

10/10 There is no match to this show!

The cinematography is so beautiful, the way the shots are taken is unmatched. I loved how Siam and relating areas are shown. I love how evening/night scenes are shot. I lived through these scenes and fell in love with Thailand. I visited Thailand because of this show! Coming to the actual story, it's just wonderful. It's a coming of age story as well as a love story. I wouldn't say it's an Igbq story because their struggle with falling in love is more complex than the gender.
They truly can't help but fall in love and hence the name.
They are love sick and that's portrayed beautifully. I adore the chemistry between the two boys. They are so good to each other. No toxocity whatsoever. Pure innocent love and understanding. Many shows have come with the same premise but nothing could compare to the sheer adoration and feelings these characters portrayed towards each other.
For me, no show has compared to this. The only other cinema that came close was 'Love Of Siam'. I highly recommend.

I will never recover—neither will you

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Revenged Love and I have finally decided to collect the pieces of myself it left broken and give the review it has long since deserved. Yes I have denied that Revenged Love has ended for a year and yes it is just that good. I don’t understand why you aren’t racing toward Youtube right now to watch it. I don’t understand why I am not racing to watch it right now again because in the year I have postponed writing a review, I have rewatched Revenged Love 13 times. I don’t want to admit to myself that it’s over, but I guess it’s now or never, the one year anniversary seems the perfect time

It is the only show I will ever rate a 10/10, it has forever changed me.

It brought me back into BL, back into asian dramas in general, it brought me back to k,c,and t-pop. It has made me so many new friends and, in no way exaggerating, has changed by life.

This is less of a review, more of a short reconciliation with my own emotions, and a plea for you to WATCH THIS DRAMA

Even if you think you don’t like BL, or you can’t watch shows in a language you don’t speak because you find subtitles annoying, Revenged Love will change everything

A hilarious plot line as two couples find themselves and love. All plot twists were exactly perfect and kept the drama exciting, deepening our interest and love for the show and all of its characters (except for some, Yue know who you are)

The chemistry is top-tier, watch the BTS after (even if just for the director). The ending was perfectly sweet, exactly what both parties deserved, each other. The characters were so well done, acted perfectly. For those of you who say Chi Cheng is a red flag, grow up, characters need to have flaws for us to empathize with them, his arc is exactly what makes him perfect and there are a lot worse out there for you to be worrying about a man in a genre that in no way makes perfect male leads.

THE MUSIC
Do yourself a favor and first, watch the show, second, never ever skip the intro. I have this song on my playlist and I cry everytime it comes on, in a good way.
It is sung by Ziyu, who plays WeiWei in the drama and the song deserves your full attention every time.



I would be more offended with you not watching this drama than cutting off both my arms.

Mulan Type Shit

If you love Mulan, you'll definitely enjoy this one. I was surprised when I dived deep into this, because the title was very intriguing.

The story is very epic and badass. I hope you don't mind the over the top action scenes, as i was taken aback at first, because I thought it would be a well-grounded action. Nevertheless, it was good. The scale of the story is very big, there's a lot to explore, even after i finished it i feel like there was a lot to cover still. Like barely scratching the surface, because they've dropped a lot of info, but those are mostly some side plots that I'm curious about. e.g., FL's 8 generals, because we are only introduced to one, and the others were never explored/introduced. I'm not sure how long the source for this is, but you can tell they're definitely trying to cram it all in this adaptation, because there are some parts of the story where it's really fast paced, but then some parts where it slows, but overall story-wise, I fairly enjoyed what i saw.

As for the characters, it's refreshing to see Zhou Ye (He Yan) take on this kind of role. I'm pretty sure a lot of other actresses could've taken on the role and done better, but for me, she still nailed it. I kept saying "Mulan type shit" whenever she's in an action scene, because it is!!!

I can't really say i was totally invested in the romance because i was paying attention more to the Female General aspect of the story, like i'm very much enjoying it. Well, i guess for the romance it was cute, but it felt frustrating in the later parts. In contrast, the 2nd couple was funny at first, but as the story unfolded, they became cuter. 

The king here i like, i was pleasantly surprised to see a king that's finally making sense, not too cruel, not blind, and also very generous because that helped establish a fairly enjoyable politics for me, but later near the end, for some reason, he started getting dumber like a quick 180.

Last thing i wanna say is that why did they have to ruin Chu Zhao?! From character to story, he was packaged beautifully, but they had to do him dirty like that. When he was introduced, I didn't pay much attention to him, but the way he was developed, the journey to get him to such heights made me appreciate his character so much. I hate it when cdramas ruin 2nd leads just to drag the show for a few more episodes.

Will teach you to avoid drugs / clubs. Artistically, zero, American movie with Korean actors.

The movie itself is just an american-style movie with Korean actors, lots of "action" and gory violence without much if any character development. The movie is useful AS A DOCUMENTARY, and SOCIAL COMMENTARY of what we created as a society... what happens with the poor, what it means to use drugs or go to clubs. It was filmed in 2010, so the situation is WORSE today.

**** THE MOVIE SHOULD SCARE EVERY CHILD TEENAGER ADULT AND PARENT TO STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS, CLUBS, BAD NEIGHBORHOODS, AND/OR POVERTY ***
bc if you dont , then you get sucked into this kind of world, which exists bc of the rotten and selfish nature of our societies.

The story is so simple - a broken, silent, isolated, lone, poker faced man changes enough to somewhat befriend a child, and changes just enough to step outside of his pawnshop to go on a killing rampage to save the child. ML has just a few seconds of real acting at the very end scene, the rest is a fake poker face. The little girl has some meaningful lines. So artistically as a story, this movie is near ZERO.

Although it is true that the child had to be saved asap and there was not too many options since the police is ... ineffective at best.... still.... the killing rampage was a gory bloody violence for almost the entire movie. It promotes using violence to solve violence. A very corny idea.

Well ... this movie is supposedly a super good movie but ... it is ... trashy FLASHY shocking. It is just shocking the audience instead of teaching anything.
The main actor is behind all that hair and basically does NOT act... for second half, he cuts his hair but always - he is more or less poker faced... and his acting is fake so many times while poker faced... it is clear he knows he is faking it.... The only real acting scene was the very last one when he says bye to the little girl - he can SMILE for real, and that is natural to him... and then the emotion and crying - that was real acting ..... and the rest of the movie was almost all fake.

And we never see him work out stuff emotionally inside him, it is about revenge and finding his friend... ok but ... that's not it. That is what american movies do.

But he looks like a skinny fashion model... And ... plastic surgery lips? Is this the start of that ugly trend....??? at least back then he was not pale. Now actors look like white ghosts.

In this drama, the star actor is the little girl.

Well - the movie does teach something - avoid clubs, drugs, etc :)
The message is good, that a man would do anything to save someone
but the plot etc is just ... all "special effects" without real content. Like an american movie, lots of fights and gangs and low life, shocking the audience with what really happens in the crime world.
But in terms of PLOT as CONTENT as character growth etc
and in terms of what kdramas are really for - good instructions for daily life for ordinary ppl -
well... this fails.
It is just a SHOCKER
an american movie made in Korea, with a super skinny actor, everything a copy of american style, really . Even the music was in English and western style.

so why is this actor so famous and why is this movie one of the best... is still unknown. Is it bc he kinda popularized western style... ?

I wasted 2 hrs to watch this, plus 2 hrs to come back from puking after watching all the violence, bc I wanted to see WHY it is so popular and really .... I wasted the time watching scenes from hell. The movie has no content, only fights and blood baths, and yeah a tiny bit of love between ppl. But 98% of this movie is just GORY VIOLENCE.

It was grueling to watch this drama bc it is just a blood bath and torture. And I already knew what all that stuff happens and I did not really want to SEE HOW EXACTLY IT HAPPENS,
however, the time is not entirely wasted, at least the movie deepened my knowledge, like the grandma who sets ppl up to be kidnapped, using kids for eyes, using kids to deliver drugs, make drugs, cash credit cards, etc So now I am armed with more knowledge to WARN PPL to stay away from what is shown in this movie. And a lot more protective of children. It is terrifying what happens if a child goes missing. Also, if their parent is incapable and/or missing.

Via this drama we people from the brighter side of the life got to see what happens in bad neighborhoods, in poverty, and in night life, and the message is clear - STAY AWAY FROM THAT.

But the message is even deeper - this is a SOCIAL COMMENTARY OF WHAT WE CREATED AS A SOCIETY.

The value of this movie is a social commentary of what happens with the poor, and what it means to use drugs and to go to clubs.... .

7/10 Love Puberty
This is a remake of Love Sick the series from 2014. I know nothing of the original version, so I'm just rating this one as a new series. This is not your typical BL series where everything is sunshine and rainbow for everyone. Even though it's about the lives of teenagers, it didn't shield the audience from the hardships that people get everyday, such as bullying, dealing with crappy people (Jeed), dealing with crappy parents (Aim's mom & Win's dad). It tells stories about real friendship and the ups and downs of romantic relationships in school. It's delivered smoothly with zero twists and most actors did well. The one thing that I don't like is how they throw too many names at the first episode.
Like, I don't think I can remember so many names and faces.
Most likely I'd forget all of them in an instant. They should've just introduced the ones who are significant to the plot. Not ALL kids at the school.

It Gets Better after the 2nd Episode

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

This is one of those series that starts off a little rocky but slowly improves over time. The general story concept was good, but the script was a little messy with the execution. The first few stories were touching but was just missing something that I can’t put my finger on. I almost dropped this, but then the script finally started to pull through. It started to explain some things that seemed odd in the beginning and also introduced a storyline that got me hooked in. For me, the ending was absolutely better than the beginning. This is another good example why casting is very important. The entire cast was great at making me care about their characters. This also had beautiful cinematography.

Random Note:

This is one of those series that I don’t regret watching but don’t see myself wanting to rewatch it.

The school reminds me of the Montessori concept of learning.

At first, the transition of Shizuku becoming adaptable to the alternative school setting seemed too quick. However, it makes sense later on.

I continued to watch this after the introduced Sora’s storyline and wanted to see the outcome.
