I know a lot about whales now!

I wasn’t going to write a review for this one, a lot irritated me about the show, but not so much that I wanted to stop watching, because it had a great precise.
So, I’ll leave the comprehensive reviews to the real review writers and just jot down a few things I enjoyed, so I can remember in the future.

Lee Jun Ho had the patience of several saints and their skateboards. What a breath of fresh air he brought to the show.

Both girl friends of Woo Yeong U were a delight.

The dad! What a sweet, supportive man.

The standout character for me was Jung Myeong Seok. He was never overbearing or a scene stealer; he was just there. Quietly bringing a maturity or humor to the scene. And I loved the boss/employee relationship he had with Woo Yeong U.

All the whale facts were fascinating, and I was grateful to learn something, lol.

The things that irked me aren’t big enough that I won’t watch season 2, to see how the legal crew has progressed.

It's among the top 10 dramas of 2026

The first drama I watched starring Ju Jingyi completely exceeded my expectations. It blends action, comedy, romance, and heartfelt emotions so naturally that every episode remains entertaining without feeling dragged out. The story moves at a fast pace, with each episode introducing meaningful developments, making it easy to stay invested from beginning to end.

One of the biggest strengths of the drama is its cast. Every actor fits their role perfectly, and the chemistry between the lead characters feels genuine and engaging. Ju Jingyi delivers a charming and emotional performance, balancing lighthearted moments with serious scenes beautifully. The supporting cast also deserves praise, as they add humor, depth, and personality to the story instead of simply existing in the background.

The action sequences are exciting and well-executed, while the comedic moments never feel forced. At the same time, the emotional scenes are touching and give the characters enough depth to make the audience care about their journey. This balance between different genres is what makes the drama stand out.

Another aspect I appreciated is how faithfully the drama appears to follow the original novel for most of its storyline. It retains the essence of the source material while adapting it smoothly for the screen, which is something fans of the novel are likely to enjoy. The pacing is another major highlight. There are very few slow moments, and the plot continues to move forward without unnecessary filler, making it easy to binge-watch.

Overall, this drama was a wonderful introduction to Ju Jingyi's work. With its engaging story, excellent performances, memorable characters, and perfect mix of action, comedy, and emotion, it offers an enjoyable experience from start to finish. If you're looking for a fast-paced costume drama with strong character dynamics and a faithful adaptation of its novel, this is definitely one worth watching. I highly recommend it..

I saw this title on iQiyi, it sounded interesting so I checked it out. The movie started with Wong Feihung on a mission to investigate yet another kidnapping and human trafficking case, and this time a princess was involved. Somehow the 13th Aunt also decided to join his investigation and alongside Wong's student Liang Kuan, the trio went to track the group suspected to be behind the incident. They managed to track the group at a pier and during an altercation, Feihung was hurt and went missing. Frustrated over the situation, 13th Aunt decided to go undercover to finish the mission to rescue the kidnapped girls.

I have to say that the plot was very refreshing, because usually the main focus of the story was on Wong Feihung and/or his students, yet this time... the aunt took the centre stage. Unlike usual, this time Shaojun won't be the damsel or someone to be protected but she's the one who will be fighting the bad guys. The movie was also unexpectedly funny at times as Shaojun end up getting an extra helping hand and we also got to see her not just as the fiancee of Master Wong, but also part of the member of Poh Chi Lam. It really felt good seeing Shaojun actually made use of all the kungfu lessons she learned.

Nan Sheng was really great at playing the 13th Aunt, she was almost on par with Rosamund Kwan in her portrayal. Tho I kinda wished they could've picked a better looking and a more skilled actor to play as Wong Feihung, like some of his action scenes wasn't really impressive. But I guess I'm kinda biased.

Knowing the Multiverse Makes It Even Better

As a film teacher, I taught Christopher Nolan's "Memento" for years. What most people don't know about this seminal film is that his brother, Jonathon, wrote a companion short story to the film. Both the film and the short story act as standalone pieces, but when placed in juxtaposition, a third narrative appears that has you questioning your interpretations of the film and short story.

ChermChey, while obviously nowhere near the cinematic and literary masterpieces of both Nolans' works, may act in just the same way: taken out of the universe it lives in, the series seems to be a rather "pointless" slice-of-life narrative piece that is kind of a "love it" or "leave it" situation. But ChermChey is connected to Love Upon a Time and Khemjira, and when you have that knowledge, ChermChey is a ten episode long "happily ever after" for two seemingly "throw away" characters from Love Upon a Time. I am loathe to say more than that as I don't want to spoil either show. For anyone interested, I can make the case for the three dramas existing in the same universe.

Even without putting ChermChey firmly where it belongs in the "LUAT/Khemjira" universe, I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry and interplay between the two male leads. This show was definitely "conflict-lite" and redemption arcs for the only conflict that did appear were unearned. ChermChey was an overall "pointless" story- which I think is the point. It was a little underwritten, so I don't think that Erng's central internal conflict really had defined moments that built towards a personal epiphany (i.e. obvious character growth that was shown, celebrated, and earned). But even with its flaws, I enjoyed what was there- showing how two characters crash into each other with abandon (thinking it's a one night stand so no need to filter oneself) only to have to pull back when they realize this connection may actually have a shot of enduring after the sun has come up.

I can see this becoming a comfort drama, owing to its "conflict-lite" nature. Sometimes it's comforting to watch the evolution of a quirky relationship- to feel the warmth the actors brought to their characters and how that warmth seeped towards the other person. Much is lost in translation (I fear) with their bantering, which I think may be why the international audience is missing some of the witticism of the show.

Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was (both as a standalone piece and as part of a larger narrative universe). In fact, once I made the connection to Love Upon a Time, my appreciation for the small details in ChermChey increased. If you like slice-of-life, give this one a shot.

feels just like summer ♡

this is the story of Natsuki - a free spirited high school student. he's also not the most attentive when it comes to academics. when his parents find out about his abysmal grades, his sister decides to send her boyfriend Souta to tutor him.

the first episode was so cute!

both leads are incredibly handsome! especially the actor playing Souta - Hidaka is sooo pretty! i couldn't take my eyes off of him the whole time🥹

the cinematography is absolutely stunning! as it often is with most Japanese bls 💙 the cool summer tones and the beautiful blue skies are so soothing to watch. they have the perfect summer vibes!

Natsuki's family is so warm and lovable. their adorable samoyed pet dog Rock, a huge ball of fluff, is bound to bring a smile to anyone's face!

so far, I really liked the first episode 🥰 excited to see how it goes💙

fun fact : natsuki (夏輝) in Japanese means "summer radiance/glow" ✨️
that really adds up to the theme of this drama 🥹

My guilty pleasure finally completed

After waiting for a year since the original drama ended with an open and frustrating conclusion, finally this is the ending I had been hoping for. This special episode felt like a reward after all the emotional suffering, misunderstandings, and endless running from the male lead throughout the series.

The best part of this ending is seeing both main characters finally face their feelings and make a decision for their future. After spending so much time regretting the past and wishing they could change their mistakes, they finally understand that the most important thing is not only fixing what happened before, but also having the courage to move forward. They are able to let go of their regrets, accept their past, and start a new chapter of their lives together.

What makes this conclusion satisfying is that it does not magically solve everything. Instead, it shows that love and relationships still require effort, honesty, and courage. The characters have grown from the people they were in the beginning, and their journey finally reaches a meaningful point. After watching Ken struggle in every episode, seeing him finally become brave enough to express his feelings was incredibly satisfying.

The chemistry between Yamapi and Maa-tan remains one of the strongest elements of the story. Their natural interactions, emotional expressions, and understanding of each other's characters make the conclusion feel earned. Their relationship was never just about romance, it was about two people who needed to grow before they could truly be together. To this day, the two of them are my favorite couple.

The special also keeps the nostalgic atmosphere that made the original drama so memorable. The emotional soundtrack, familiar characters, and memories from the past create a beautiful sense of closure for fans who followed their journey from the beginning.

Overall, this is the ending that I always wanted. After a year of waiting since the original drama's cliffhanger ending, this conclusion finally delivered the happiness and satisfaction that the story deserved. Seeing the two main leads release their regrets, choose each other, and move forward toward a new life with new challenges was incredibly fulfilling.

This special completes the journey of one of my favorite J-dramas of all time. It is not only an ending about love, but also about growth, forgiveness, and the courage to create your own future.

Mercy why did they even use that tag?

Honestly most boring drama I felt, at least a good cast and proper plot would make it better. Everything was predictable it's not like we are watching for the first time of such plot. I genuinely like Choo Young Woo so I was expecting something better would happen but nothing. Mercy, why did they use that word mercy, it should be given to a person who is perfect and being killed for some unknown reason. When it comes to Nam Gi Seok I didn't feel like it was mercy scenario, even he killed Mr Oh son the main head. So for what reason our hero went out on revenge I don't understand. Coming to the plot it was predictable from the very beginning itself, there was no single scene that could be named as suspense. Coming to action its good but I didn't like the lead from the way he looks. Only if the plot goes like this then I think may be a better rating would be.
This is completely my point of view in planning better I feel. Let me know in comments
"Nam Gi Seok and Lee Geum Son being friends and when Nam Gi Seok was dead. Instead of his brother Nam Gi Jun, there would be a great plot in seeing Lee Geum Son to do all the killing. Lee Geum Son realises in the end that he is the one who ordered the death of Nam Gi Seok . Where he will killing himself stating no one should be given mercy even for self , mercy for none , that title would be perfect."
Coming to in between plots it would be better if they showed that Nam Gi Jun killed his own brother in order take JUWOON so it would be a perfect plot. When Lee Geum Son kills the brother Nam Gi Jun thinking he is the one to kill his friend. And he kills Nam Gi Jun then in the end Lee Geum Son realises that he was the main reason.

My guilty pleasure.

I watched this drama a little late. Back in 2009, a senior of mine who was really into Japanese culture recommended this drama to me. At that time, I had absolutely no expectations and did not even know much about the story. However, somehow, I found myself continuing to watch episode after episode until I reached the ending.

Many people say that this drama can be frustrating because the story progresses very slowly, especially because the male lead keeps missing his chances. But for me, that is exactly the reason why PropoDai works so well. The story is not about a simple love story where everything is solved quickly. It is about a man who regrets losing the love of his life and is given a miracle to return to the past to fix his mistakes.

What makes this drama special is the character development of ML. At the beginning, he is someone who cannot express his feelings and always hesitates when it matters the most. Through every journey back to the past, he slowly becomes more mature, more honest with himself, and more courageous. Each episode shows a different step in his growth, and that gradual development is what makes his journey meaningful. The frustration that viewers feel is actually part of Ken's journey, because we are watching him learn how to change himself little by little. Of course, there is always that iconic scene where he runs desperately, which became one of the most memorable elements of the drama.

The OST is another unforgettable part of PropoDai. The music perfectly matches every emotional moment and has become a core memory for me. Whenever I hear the songs, I immediately remember the scenes, the atmosphere, and the feelings I had while watching the drama. The soundtrack is not just background music, it becomes part of the emotional experience and makes every important scene even more powerful.

Another special thing about this drama is the cast. The actors in PropoDai have become some of my favorite actors until today. At the time this drama was released, they were not as famous or established as they are now. Looking back, it feels amazing to see that the young actors who appeared in this series have grown into some of the biggest names in the Japanese entertainment industry. Their performances in this drama became the beginning of a long journey, and even now, I always look forward to their newest dramas and projects.

The chemistry between the cast is one of the reasons this drama remains unforgettable. The friendship, youthful atmosphere, and natural interactions between the characters captured the feeling of being young, having dreams, and experiencing first love. It feels like watching a precious memory from a time when everything was still full of possibilities.

The popularity of this drama is undeniable. Many adaptations have been made in different countries, showing how strong and universal the concept is. However, for me, this original Japanese version remains the best. The chemistry between the characters, the atmosphere of youth, and the emotional storytelling are difficult to replace.

Even now, whenever I have the chance, I still rewatch this drama.
This drama reminds me of my own love memories, the time when feelings were intense, dreams felt endless, and life was still full of excitement and possibilities. It brings back the nostalgia of youth and the emotions of a love that once felt like the most important thing in the world.

Overall, this drama is not just a romantic comedy for me, it is one of my favorite and best Japanese dramas of all time. It is a personal and nostalgic experience that stays with me because of its message about regret, courage, and appreciating the moments we have before they become memories. It reminds me that sometimes the most valuable things in life are the moments we fail to appreciate until they are gone.

This drama is my ultimate guilty pleasure. No matter how many times I watch it, it still gives me the same warm feeling, and it will always have a special place in my heart as one of the greatest J-dramas I have ever watched.

The Highlight of My Weekend

"Me and Thee" put GMMTV in the public eye and now "Peach and Me" is doing it, too. 😌 They're THE BL series that have brought Thai people together. I'm talking about locals (non-BL viewers), business owners, and even government officials. The number of unique authors that talk about and therefore trend each new episode keeps on increasing and the number can get as high as tens of thousands. Business owners use TheePeach concept and endorse the actors because they know TheePeach are so loved by the general public that their products will sell. Government officials use TheePeach concept because they know TheePeach are so iconic that it wll get the message across to the public. Even K-Pop idols have joined the Khun Thee parody trend. That's the power of PondPhuwin for you. PondPhuwin is one of the few, if not the only, CPs that can deliver BOTH engagement AND sales. Every brand deal, merch, fanmeet/fancon/concert TRENDS and SELLS OUT so fast that it's become a war just to get a ticket to any of their events both domestically and internationally. PondPhuwin can casually announce a gathering and in less than 24 hours, people will come flocking to the venue. Even a senior actor at GMMTV has called one of their gatherings a new year celebration because of the MASSIVE crowd they pulled. Now, you can fake engagement all you want, but you can NEVER fake impact and this level of impact that TheePeach/PondPhuwin have is only possible because they've won over the general public. Other fandoms can downplay the impact of "Me and Thee" and "Peach and Me" or scream "favoritism" every chance they get, but the general public knows what they want and they want TheePeach. 🤟

BELOW EXPECTATIONS

Idk what it is about Meng Ziyi but her facial expressions are never convincing. It's like she's taking you somewhere but always falls flat in the emotional delivery. The pacing of the story is incredibly boring, Heyu's acting is just subpar his pretty face saves it. I can't continue this drama without falling asleep. The plot is all over the place, there's no clear grounding.

One of the things I enjoyed the most was how the drama introduced the idea of a company dormitory specifically for female employees. I honestly did not know that such a system existed during that era, so it was interesting to learn about how women in the workplace experienced life at that time. The drama successfully combines entertainment with small historical details, making the setting feel more unique.

The comedy is one of the biggest strengths of this drama. The situations are often funny and unpredictable, but they still feel natural because the humor comes from the characters and their interactions. The undercover elements also add excitement while keeping the overall tone enjoyable and easy to watch.

I also liked how the drama portrays the struggles and dreams of women during that period. Behind the comedy, there are meaningful messages about independence, friendship, and finding one's own path in a society with certain expectations.

Although the story may not be the most complex drama ever made, its charm comes from its refreshing concept and entertaining execution. It is the kind of drama that makes you smile and keeps you interested without feeling too heavy.

The story has an ambitious scale, combining mystery, friendship, childhood memories, conspiracy, and the fate of the world. Especially because it is based on one of the most famous manga works by Naoki Urasawa. However, unfortunately, I felt that the adaptation did not fully capture the strength of the manga.

One of the biggest problems with this movie is the pacing and storytelling. For viewers who have never read the manga, the beginning can feel very confusing. There are many characters, timelines, and mysteries introduced at once, making it difficult to understand what is happening. Instead of feeling curious, some viewers might feel overwhelmed and bored because the movie takes time to explain its world and characters.

As someone who knows the reputation of the manga, I could appreciate the ambition behind the adaptation. The movie tries to include many important elements from the original story, but the amount of information makes the film feel rushed in some parts. Some emotional moments and character developments do not receive enough time to have the same impact as they did in the manga.

The concept itself remains the strongest part of the movie. The themes of childhood dreams, friendship, memories, and how the past affects the future are very fascinating. The idea of ordinary people facing an extraordinary situation is what makes *20th Century Boys* unique. The cast also did a good job portraying the characters, especially in bringing the mysterious atmosphere of the story to life.

However, as a movie adaptation, it struggles to balance between being faithful to the source material and creating a smooth experience for new audiences. Fans of the manga may find enjoyment in seeing the characters and world brought to life, but newcomers might have difficulty connecting with the story.

I started watching this drama after it was recommended by my senior, and I honestly did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. At first, I thought it would be just a simple romantic comedy about an ordinary man trying to find love, but it turned out to be a surprisingly warm and inspiring story about courage, friendship, and believing in yourself.

One of the things that made this drama memorable for me was the OST by Sambomaster, *"Sekai wa Sore wo Ai to Yobundaze"*. The song perfectly represents the spirit of the drama. Every time it played, it brought out the emotions of the scenes and made the story feel even more energetic and heartfelt. The powerful lyrics and passionate performance matched the message of the drama about love, hope, and overcoming personal struggles.

The journey of ML as he tries to change himself and become a better person was really enjoyable to watch. He is not portrayed as a perfect hero, but as an ordinary person with insecurities and weaknesses. That made his growth feel more realistic and relatable. Watching him slowly gain confidence with the support of people around him was one of the most satisfying parts of the drama.

The relationship between main leads was also very charming. Their romance is simple and innocent, which gives the drama a different feeling compared to modern romance stories. Their interactions may seem a little awkward at times, but that awkwardness is part of what makes their relationship so sweet and genuine.

Another highlight of the drama is the online community that supports ML. The people on the internet forum are funny and sometimes chaotic, but they create a unique sense of friendship and show how strangers can come together to help someone achieve happiness.

Of course, some parts of the drama feel a little dated, and the story may seem unrealistic if viewed from today's perspective. However, its sincerity and positive message are what make it still enjoyable.

Yes, this is the drama you've been looking for.

This drama is truly a masterpiece and one of the best dramas I have watched. What surprised me the most was that I never expected the story to be this deep. At first, I only judged it from the title and poster, which gave me the impression that it would be a simple drama with a nostalgic retro setting. I thought it would be just a warm and ordinary story, but it turned out to be something much more profound and emotionally powerful.

From the beginning until the end, this drama touched my heart with its beautiful storytelling, unforgettable characters, and meaningful messages. It is not just a love story, but a deeply human story about family, sacrifice, loyalty, dreams, and the journey of life itself.

The acting in this drama is absolutely superb. Every actor delivered a performance that felt genuine and full of emotion. The characters did not feel like fictional creations, they felt like real people with their own hopes, struggles, regrets, and memories. Their expressions, small gestures, and emotional scenes made every moment feel incredibly personal and believable.

What I loved the most about this drama is how beautifully it portrays family. It shows that love is not always expressed through big words or dramatic actions, but often through silent sacrifices, unconditional support, and the courage to endure hardships for the people we love. The story captures the reality of ordinary people who continue fighting for their dreams while carrying the responsibilities and struggles of life.

Every episode has its own emotional impact, and I found myself crying many times while watching. The drama explores different stages of life, love, separation, aging, dreams, disappointment, and hope. Each story carries a deep meaning and reminds us to appreciate the people around us before it is too late.

The themes of sacrifice and loyalty are especially powerful. Watching the characters support each other through difficult times was incredibly touching. The drama shows that a person's greatest achievements are not always measured by success or wealth, but by the love they give and the memories they create with others.

Slow Beginning, Interesting Story, But….

I haven’t seen the original, so this review is just based on the BL series.

I’ll start with the good parts, the story is interesting for sure, the first episode though, a little bit slow, but it makes sense, and viewers will probably be able to decide how to actually feel about the story after a few more episodes.

Plot is also a little bit cliche, but it’s a time-travel Lakorn BL and that should be expected. It doesn’t reduce the story’s quality though, I’m still excited to see what the next episodes would hold.

Now to, what I’ll call an unpopular opinion perhaps, I found the MC’s acting grating and really hard to watch in a way. I’m not sure if it’s just the first character he played (I won’t go into this to avoid spoilers) but the acting quality was poor.

Overall, so far, so good I’d say, I hope the acting improves (as he takes on a different character) in subsequent episodes. As we watch too, we’ll get to see how good the story would get.

For now, I’d still recommend it to anyone who’s contemplating watching. But don’t expect too much in this first episode.

(I’ll edit as I watch)
