"A man is like butter, the husband is the bread"
The Widow is one of those movies I’d love to rate highly as it was the first film directed by a woman in South Korea. Park Nam Ok was treated so poorly that she never made another film. As best as I can tell, the script was also written by a woman. Thank you, ladies, for attempting to break through that iron ceiling. A heads up, the film is missing sound in the last ten minutes and the final part of the last reel is missing altogether. Now to the story…Lee Shin Ja is a widow raising her young daughter Ju. Strapped for cash she meets with her husband’s wealthy friend, Mr. Lee (no relation) accepting money on occasion. Mr. Lee’s wife visits her and tells her to stay away from her husband, thinking the two are having an affair. Shin Ja’s hardscrabble neighbors drive the hoity toity woman off. When Shin Ja takes her daughter to the beach on the weekend, she discovers that Lee’s wife has her own secrets. Ju nearly drowns and Mrs. Lee’s lover, Taek, saves the girl. And before you can say “a man is like butter” we’ve got a love square going on. But wait! There’s more! Taek’s presumed dead lover comes to town. Make that a pentagon. At that point everyone should have heeded the warning sign and stopped.
Shin Ja was referred to as noble and she acted very demurely. She was graceful, spoke quietly, wore traditional clothes, and didn’t drink. She also dressed up and met with men in secluded places to talk and cajole money out of them. Why would a wife think that was suspicious? After meeting one of the men who was only dating a woman for the cash, they fell instantly in love and decided to marry. She then kicked her daughter out to be raised by the odd single dude two doors down. Ju nearly drown because Shin Ja was completely oblivious to the danger of a child in strong ocean surf by herself. If she said, “she’s such a burden” one more time I was ready to throw Shin Ja in the water. The 50s were a tough time for a single woman, especially a widow with a child. I could overlook her wheedling money out of men and looking for a husband. Abandoning her daughter to an older widower for a man was inexcusable. The movie completely lost me at that point. When her lover/common law husband hooked up with someone else, who cared? If this had been a comedy it might have made more sense, as it was, I began to laugh at the ridiculousness of the situations.
To sum up. Five stars to Park Nam Ok for having the strength to create this film, especially when she was blocked from entering the post-sound studio. I cannot imagine what she had to endure from every level of the craft to get this movie finished. I know how I would like the movie to finish ideally and it didn’t include the gigolo artist or company president but rather Shin Ja discovering she could take care of herself and her daughter by herself. Or if it went in a more realistic direction, Ju probably snapped and murdered everyone in their sleep after being shuttled about, ignored, and told what a burden she was. Like I mentioned, I really wanted to like this film, but discarding a child because she hampered romance was something I could not tolerate. I wish I could have said, "better luck next time Park Nam Ok", but she never received that chance. Truly the saddest thing about this film.
6 August 2026
Musical Note: At one point, two characters broke into song, reminiscent of the 1930s duets of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. Because why not, with all the crazy shenanigans going on.

"A Second Watch of a Timeless Love Story"
A beautiful and unforgettable drama with a story that truly stays with you. I have watched many C-dramas, and although some of their stories slowly fade from my memory, this one is different. *Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms* left a lasting impression on me.
For me, this is a heavy emotional drama filled with love, pain, sacrifices, and unforgettable moments. The story, characters, and emotions are so deeply portrayed that I still remember them even after finishing the drama. This is truly a masterpiece and a drama that I can watch again and again.

Such an amazing drama and deserves more recognition!
Si Jin is truly one of my favorite dramas. The cast, the OST, the acting, the storyline... just perfect to me. Everything was so well-written and beautifully paced. Not a single episode felt boring. Every episode ended in a way that made me desperate for the next one.The villains were absolutely ruthless. But seeing them finally get exactly what they deserved was so satisfying. And the main leads finally got the happy ending they deserved after everything they went through from beginning to end. They just kept facing one obstacle after another, so seeing them happy in the end made me feel so satisfied.
I watched Si Jin a year too late, and I honestly wish I could've experienced it while it was airing in 2025. But at the same time, I'm so grateful I found this gem. It's truly become my favorite drama so far.
Thank you so much Jing Tian & Zhang Wanyi ❤️🔥

Propose to me Zaddy!
Okay now hear me out! I don't usually vibe well with much toxicity in BL's. There's a balance game usually and this one at first definitely had me frustrated. It did keep my intrigue though with the mystery aspects of it and once we got past the literal hate fu**ing towards the beginning, I was down for the plot and chemistry! I literally wanted to protect Chae Ha so badly though, he was treated like such dirt all because of the father being a murderer thing! Leave my boy alone, hes trying his best in life!Esta resenha foi útil para você?

A cute end to a partly nice show...
MDL graced us today with the page of the special, which was aired on May 10th (2026) or so. It could have been also just episode 25 of the Part 2, but no, there some people need an extra page. But should it not be "Fourever You Part 2 Special"?This is the typical special I expected. It's mostly cute, it enforces the bond of the "bottom" friends and of course it also have quite childish parts in it. Production quality was on the level we expect from Wabi Sabi, nothing to complain there. Overall this special is nice enough to bring the series to an end. If you watched part 2, you will also like this most probably, even when it's not stellar or earthshattering. At least, it's cute. As usual my rating is only for the uncut version.

welcome back, Nam!
I really loved this drama! It's my first time watching a Korean horror-serise, and the cast's acting was solid all around. The CGI for the cute little Gumu following the male lead was great, and I really enjoyed his witty, comic-book-style inner thoughts.I also loved the dynamic between the leads—they didn't force an unrealistic romance amidst all the chaos, even though their subtle feelings and mutual care were clear.
The open ending definitely felt like the creators testing the waters for a potential second season if it hits big.
My only gripe was how chaotic the evil spirits became toward the end; new ones kept popping up out of nowhere, which was a bit confusing! But overall, it was a fun watch—welcome back, Nam!

No leer si no aceptas críticas duras.

Love
Spooky in love is a K-drama that beautifully balances romance, humor, and heartfelt emotions. With charismatic characters and incredible chemistry between the lead couple, the story gradually draws you in and makes you root for them every step of the way.Beyond its engaging storyline, the cinematography is stunning, and the soundtrack deserves special recognition. The songs perfectly complement each scene, enhancing the emotions and making many moments even more memorable.
It’s a series that is lighthearted when it needs to be, deeply emotional at the right moments, and leaves you with a sense of nostalgia once it ends. A truly worthwhile K-drama that stays with you long after the final episode.

The Most Convoluted Age Gap Romance Ever Conceived
This is available on the FOD Shorts app with English subtitles - give it a shot if you're interested! To give credit where it's due, I was actually enjoying this at first. With it being about time tunnels, changing the future, etc. , it could be a little silly and came with the standard cliches, but I thought the overall idea was fun and I liked seeing all the ways Kanato and Misa figured out to communicate. Most of the actors are quite young, so I could forgive the performances being a little rough around the edges.
However, if I had my way, I would've liked it more if their big mission was to save the life of a friend or something, not each other, and if it really had to have romance, it could've come out of the shared experience of helping someone else rather than entwined in their motivation to manipulate time and space to be together. Because as it actually plays out, you have to reeeallly not think too hard about how Misa essentially stalks (and lowkey kinda grooms???) Kanato by approaching him 10 years in the past when he's a little baby elementary schooler to carry out their plan and then stays beside him after they both survive the accident. It ultimately felt like a very roundabout way to write the "we knew each other when we were younger" trope/excuse for this age gap romance. Also, I did laugh when Kanato fades out of existence after one of their attempts fails and could not take his death seriously, I'm so sorry lol.
