Good Storyline

Started strong but dragged.

May 2026.
A modern day office worker finds herself transported into the realms of cultivation, and ends up serving a cold and powerful Grandmaster, sealed in his mountain palace for half a century.
She is a master slacker who just wants an easy life.... which she obviously doesn't get!

There is a lot of humour in the early episodes, but as the story progresses, truths get revealed, and feelings grow, things become more tense, as battles for power and freedom take over.

I liked the cast, but didn't feel the FL made a convincing leader, as the story moved forward.
The ML I thought conveyed his power and frustrations well, but he didn't feel different enough as his character changed.
That is a fault of the writing and directing, to my mind.

I found the earlier episodes flowed better, but got bored with the drawn out feuding.
The supposedly most powerful were often too easily blindsided and overcome.

The story moves through lifetimes; a concept which I liked, but was wasted to an extent, I felt, by not being fresh enough when that happened ~ instead carrying over a too similar plot line.
I was never moved to tears by this story, although there was no shortage of tragedy.

The ending wrapped things up very neatly and on what I felt was a positive note, however.

This would make sense in a dystopian world...

There was good about this show, and some not so good. I struggle watching anything about bullying, but when reading a lot of comments saying it was so funny, I decided to give it a chance. I didn't find it funny. There were some humorous lines, yes, but the subject matter was very dark. It was well-done, and I realize that most people will enjoy it, which worries me a little. I would like to think we are not becoming desensitized to violence and profanity.

It was well-acted. I had a difficult time watching the ML, because he looked so much like John Cena! He's attractive, but I kept wondering why John Cena was in a Korean drama.

The premise of the different stories for each episode was good. I also liked how they addressed the problems with teachers and parents as well as students.

However, the thought that adults can come into a school and beat up kids is just too far-fetched. Bullies terrorize those weaker than them. You are saying it's wrong to bully, but yet with adults it's okay? I did, however, really like how the ML dealt with the crazy stalking parent.

Must there be so much cursing? Has anyone ever watched something and said, "Boy, I wish there was more cursing in that."? The innumerable times the 'F' word was used - more often than not translated for a lesser curse word being used. It's a Netflix show, I get it, but it bothers me.

I'm aware that most will disagree with my thoughts. That's what they are, my thoughts, so please don't come at me.

D'habitude quand j'écris des reviews sur les sbl/séries que je regarde, je le fais en anglais mais je crois que pour celle-ci les mots me manquent.
Dans un premier temps, ce n'est pas un bl à proprement parler mais plutôt une série queer, le sujet est évoqué et l'histoire part de là mais ce n'est pas l'élément central de la série, juste un pivot à l'histoire.

Quand j'ai commencé la série, je ne m'attendais clairement pas à tout ça. J'aime clairement la romance et quand ça tourne autour d'un couple pourtant comme dit, ce n'est pas centré sur ça et pourtant, je n'ai pas pu m'arrêter.
J'ai dévoré les épisodes les uns après les autres sans pouvoir m'arrêter.

L'histoire est tellement bien ficellée, elle dépeint tellement bien la réalité que n'importe qui peut s'identifier à au moins une sitaution mise en scène. Elle traite de sujets de société, d'états par lesquels les humains passent tous dans leur vie, des questionnements, des émotions, des contradictions. Bref, personnellement je suis passée par tellement d'émotions et j'ai tellement pleuré que j'en ai perdu le compte.

C'est touchant. J'ai regardé énormément de séries asiatiques mais c'est celle-ci est celle qui m'a le plus marquée. On peut très clairement qualifiée cette série d'oeuvre d'art, et je pèse mes mots.

Les plans, la colorimétrie, les musiques en passant par le choix des titres et même la façon de les introduire semblent choisis avec soin. Tout semble calculé.
Enormément de dialogues m'ont foutu les frissons, les larmes ou un sourire.

Le choix de mettre en scène deux pays, deux langues, la distance est d'un génie. Ils montrent que l'on peut se comprendre sans parler la même langue ou qu'il n'y a même pas besoin de parler pour faire sentir à l'autre qu'il n'est pas seul face à ce qu'il vit. On voit plusieurs fois Ryu notamment, prendre Johan dans ses bras quand il est face aux pires situations. Il ne cherche pas à le réconforter avec des mots, mais lui montrer qu'il a une épaule sur laquelle s'appuyer. Surtout quand le fait qu'il n'a jamais cru en aucun autre humain/ adulte est explicité.

Le fait qu'il y ait autant de drames dans l'histoire est tout simplement injuste et frustrant, c'est pour ça que ça ressemble autant à la réalité. Rien ne se passe comme prévu, comme on voudrait, les pires choses arrivent et pourtant, ils continuent de vivre, de traverser ces épisodes et ces émotions sans avoir peur de ressentir et de vivre. Ca donne à la fois de l'espoir et c'est en même temps absolument desespérant. Il faut simplement être à l'aise avec le sujet de la mort et de l'abandon. En plus de n'avoir aucunes indactions sur la timeline et le temps qui passe. On comprend au fur et à mesure que ça se déroule sur plusieurs années, 10 ans je dirais environ. C'est comme une incitation au fait de profiter de la vie, de ne pas regretter car le temps passe sans que l'on ne s'en rende compte.

La fin est ouverte et pourtant on sait tous ce qu'il va se passer, un poil frustrant que ça ne soit pas mis en scène et en même temps que je crois que c'est le mieux afin de préserver nos petits coeurs. Ils ont déjà bien souffert pendant toute la série.

Les acteurs n'auraient pas pu être mieux choisis, quel acting putain, je vivais chaque expression du visage, chaque paroles et chaque émotions avec eux. Je crois que je ne me suis jamais fait autant embarquée dans une histoire et de l'avoir vécu comme si c'était la mienne.

A Much-Needed Epilogue

I'm used to special episodes being completely plotless or just outright nonsensical, so I was very curious what a high-level production like To My Shore might end up coming up with. I was (mostly) pleasantly surprised!

I'll start with the drawbacks: the kisses feel very restrained after what we've seen in the main series, and it's a bit awkward to see regular tourists gawking in every single scene. It's especially jarring at the very end, when Fan Xiao and You Shulang share such an important moment.

At the same time, these drawbacks can be actually explained by the plot, so I'm not as annoyed as I might have been otherwise. You Shulang is canonically restrained when it comes to public displays of affection, and if I saw two beautiful men making out on the beach, my eyes would probably linger, too.

Now, to the strong side, which is basically everything else. This special episode actually has vital bits of character development. They closed the chapter with Lu Zhen in a way I felt missing in the series, and they revisited Fan Xiao's trauma and gave him a way to take another healing step forward.

The way You Shulang reframed Fan Xiao's view of his trauma is incredibly beautiful. I was so moved I went speechless. My loved one has also become a part of the sea, and I used to feel like they embody it now. You Shulang put my half-baked thoughts into such clear concepts that I felt myself healing along with Fan Xiao. I could re-watch this moment endlessly.

Their final pre-wedding internal conversations with their Moms... Such a powerful, beautiful moment. A perfect epilogue that erased the "bitter" from the "bittersweet" I felt after E15.

And the overall character development was fantastic. We can see that Fan Xiao is still intensely jealous and insecure; we can see You Shulang being tolerant toward it and allowing him to act out, but only to a certain extent. He puts a stop to it when he feels it's too much, and Fan Xiao listens to him. It's a realistic reflection of the people they became after the end of the main series. I admit I laughed that Fan Xiao had to be reminded to be good twice within the first 10 minutes of the episode :D That psycho.

To My Shore is the very best dark romance I've ever watched, and this special episode is a blessing. I do wish it was longer. Now, we have 3 mini-episodes coming out on the 11th, 14th, and 17th; looking forward to them!

At first, watched this for the CP, bao bao and yiran. i swear. i was already obsessed with yiran, this shameless ahh made me even MORE obsessed. 😔

it has been a few months since i watched this, (late review), ill just share what really stayed on my mind. THE OST??! like, it has been 3 months okay, i still know the ost word for word, it's just that good. and another thing is literally the punishment scene, my eyeballs hurt so much from crying the first time i watched it, i am not exaggerating. one more, which is the chair kiss- so iconic, so obsessed AHHHHHHHHH.

I am always fond of the chemistry between Daou and Offroad. But the story overall is quite basic & honestly quite easy to forget…

MOST UNDERRATED C-DRAMA OF ALL TIME ???

I have been following the both leads since their first collab, and just until a few months ago i found this underrated gem. After digging for sci-fi/ mystery dramas i came across this, i was really surprised that I've never heard of it, especially since the leads are pretty famous like rui peng , wei long , and my fav , cun cun.

throughout the series, I've never once felt bored. fyi, i get really sick of basic and non-thrilling story-lines. there was so much going on every episode, and i really love it. the acting was really good, the phoenix squad also gave me a really wholesome feeling, idk why, prob bcuz i just love friend groups that go through adventures together. every ep either makes me cry, excited, or scared 😭😭😭🙏🏻

after the series, i felt really empty, cuz it really was the best drama i watched. ALSO! i watched some bts, and their genuine friendship really made me so happy that they treated each-other just like how they were on-screen, and not just like distant co-workers

Sometimes it’s a good choice not to listen to MDL reviews…

Why the heck is everyone reviewing this so low?!!! This series took a blink of an eye to finish because I literally could not stop watching it. Main couple is so cuteee, but the side couple definitely stole the show. KhaoNew are the most adorable, Khao is the man in the relationship and New is similar to Duang a bit from DuangWithYou, he’s like a golden retriever boyfriend and he just listens to whatever Khao says and she’s such a good friend and girlfriend, she’s always looking out for everyone especially Som-O and New :)

The storyline is so so gooood and I love that the audience gets to watch the characters grow up characters since they start in high school till they all get married.

The only thing I probably didn’t like was that towards the end, Chadjen was literally just raigebait until he made up for it so it cancelled everything out.

Omg Romances proibidos

Uma escola de elite proíbe seus alunos de terem romances e expulsa quem violar a norma. Mas uma garota rebelde ajuda os apaixonados em segredo, tudo isso pela quantia certa é claro.
Esse drama vale a pena cada segundo na minha opinião, me faz refletir um pouco sobre até onde algumas pessoas chegariam por dinheiro, apesar é claro da protagonista fazer sempre um acordo com os alunos sobre manter seu amor em segredo, ela precisava daquele dinheiro para ajudar sua mãe com as dívidas mesmo se expondo e correndo risco de ser expulsa da escola que no final ficou por deixar essa regra apesar do protesto dos alunos, mas eles decidiram por eles mesmos em uma votação. Algo que me impressionou neste drama foi o fato de não ter bullying direto com a protagonista por estudar em uma escola de ricos sendo pobres, é impressionante que os alunos realmente colocaram em prática aquilo que aprenderam sobre gentileza e educação. E essa regra só foi posta depois de a escola que antes era só de garotas agora ser mista. O final foi bom mas eu queria muito que os protagonistas tivessem namorado, e ficou um pouco aberto também, o que poderia ser spoiler para 2 temporada.

An Engaging Storyline Turns into a Messy Disappointment!!

What started as an engaging female-centric drama ends in disappointment!!

Set in the mid-Ming Dynasty, the show largely revolves around the budding ink industry. A royal tribute scandal causes the centuries old Li family to fall from grace, dooming the eighth branch as they are exiled. As the Li family declines, the Luo family rises and then follows into ruin, only for the Tian family to rise in power instead. While we walk through this revolving door of rise and downfall, the storyline focuses on Li Zhen, the heroic daughter of the Eighth Branch who vows revenge against everyone who caused her family to fall. The first half is quite engaging, as Li Zhen learns ink making. Her struggles chronicle the intricate makings of the once prominent ink industry. But the second half engages in repetitive plotting and scheming, thereby souring the overall experience. I really wanted to enjoy this show, but towards the end, I just wanted to get done with it!!
