This drama should be reframed as the Tale of an Antagonist - her character arc was stronger
I had not watched Huang Bo dramas in months and with the slow updates of Chinese vertical dramas on MDL catalogue, I decided to watch this one. I could immediately write a review after completing the series and gosh I was letdown. What I liked:
1. ML's grandfather - Wow, he was the best character in this drama. Never once believed the antagonist's words because he could sense her true colours. I also liked that he was never pushy with ML.
2. ML characterisation - He was love-brained. He couldn't get over FL even after 5 years. I forgave him for marrying the antagonist because she trapped him. He didn't get much screentime though.
3. SML - He too had character development. Not purely evil, there were moments of compassion.
4. Ending - I liked how SML & antagonist characters were wrapped up. That police arrest was cleverly done.
5. Acting - The actress who played the antagonist gave the best performance in this drama. She also had good chemistry with the actor who played SML.
What I disliked:
1. Antagonist - The antagonist is the main character - she was given too much screentime. Her character also had a good development that you could see that she was kind at one point i.e. not purely evil.
2. FL characterisation - She was weak. I understood that she had no memories of her past but c'mon, where were her instincts? She didn't fight back when bullied and this stayed until 75% of the drama. She was gullible too.
3. Romance - The secondary couple had more romantic scenes than the main couple. Huang Bo can do great kissing scenes but I think Yang Cheng Lu wasn't comfortable because there was no close up of their kissing scenes and they were hasty too.
4. Acting - Yang Cheng Lu gave a bland performance that you'd forget about her after watching this drama. There was no chemistry between her and Huang Bo.

Adrenaline Rush every Ep
⭐ 8.5/10I honestly didn’t expect “If Wishes Could Kill” to pull me in this much, but once the story starts unfolding, it becomes really hard to stop watching. The whole idea of a wish-granting app sounds exciting at first, but the drama slowly turns it into something disturbing and emotionally intense. Every wish comes with consequences, and that constant tension keeps you hooked.
One thing this drama does really well is the atmosphere. There’s always this uneasy feeling in every episode, like something terrible is about to happen. The countdown app, the psychological pressure, and the way the characters slowly lose themselves make the story feel darker and darker as it progresses. Hyeong Uk was definitely the standout character for me. His emotional scenes felt raw and believable, and watching his downfall was honestly painful in the best way.
I also liked how unpredictable the drama was. Just when you think things can’t get worse, the story somehow becomes even more chaotic. Some scenes were genuinely shocking, while others were emotionally heavy enough to stay in my mind long after finishing the episode. The background music and cinematography matched the mood perfectly and made the suspense feel even stronger.
That said, the drama does have a few flaws. The pacing slows down a bit in the middle episodes, and a few side characters deserved more development. There were also moments where certain character decisions felt frustrating or unrealistic. But personally, those issues didn’t ruin the experience for me because the main story and emotional impact were strong enough to carry the drama.

Prepare your Therapy
Double Helix is already exceeding my expectations. As a remake of A Round Trip to Love, it feels incredibly polished. Each scene is well-edited with beautiful transitions of the story that lets you bond and reason with the characters and story, the cinematography is superb. You can tell the production value is high even the OST and dubbing are decently good to me.The story structure is very smart; it starts with their present day reunion and then moves into a flashback of their university days. The pacing is perfect by the end of episode two, the backstory is clear and easy to follow without feeling choppy.
What I love most is how natural it feels, you get to understand their story and bond with them in every detail you live each side's point of view which makes me feel more emotionally tied and invested that when something happens you feel like it's you who got punched. The acting from the leads is very good chemistry over the top, and even the side characters are played well which adds depth to the world.
When it comes to the characters development you can really feel it especially the innocence of their early relationship, and watching Lu Feng’s shift into a "protector" role development feels earned rather than sudden. While the original story is known for being quite dark and tragic, this version is starting off with a lot of heart and builds up darker and darker you'll get tangled up in an emotional rollercoaster and to those who were watching it while it was airing the fear and wait we felt were unbearable lol it’s a must-watch!
TW (spoiler): this series contains a lot of triggers so check out the tags under the synopsis if you need.

A well packaged short drama
I had a lot of fun watching this drama. It was certainly not something I expected. There are a lot of tropes likes "it's not what this looks like" and "accidental kiss" but keep watching. It keeps getting better and better.Story revolves around a rich CEO that has a secret. If he holds someone's hand for more than 5 seconds, he will turn into them. It lasts 3 days which makes it extremely inconvenient but then he meets the FL and it turns out her kiss can turn him back instantly.
The story might sound silly but the drama definitely has fun with it and that's what makes it worth watching. There were parts that I couldn't predict which made me like it more.
Besides the main leads, I really liked the brother and the secretary. They did a good job with the story. At no point did I want to speed the story up. And there were even funny scenes I replayed because of how much I was enjoying the drama.
There are minor flaws here and there but worth watching! Do give it a shot.

Good premise with a strong start
I've been really exhausted of the whole reincarnation or transmigration theme and was wary of attempting this particular series for the reason. But thankfully, the reincarnation aspect wasn't deterring particularly I think because it wasn't another one of those modern day office worker who gets sent back into history. At least this one is within the same time period. The plot was quite intriguing in the beginning and the concept that the Fl and ML lead completely different lives previously was actually very appealing as well as the way fate linked these two strangers together. It was also nice to see a pretty competent FL who stayed steady through the series although they still placed a slightly too heavy of an emphasis on her role. And as for reviewers who criticize the ML for not being as capable, they likely haven't experienced severe trauma before. I praise the FL for her abilities but her painful experiences pale in comparison to the ML which is why they actually do make a great match. He has been betrayed in the worst of ways and has experienced heavy loss back-to-back but yet was still incredibly capable on his own even before he met her. As the FL mentioned, he's the type who directly faces on his foes instead of going the roundabout manipulative way. And she is someone who couldn't trust men anymore because of her parents astray relationship. She offered him compassion which eased his anger and he opened up her trust. Their skill-sets combined is what makes them formidable.
Although the underlying story was decent, the plot did feel draggy at times and the dialogues between the main couple started to feel repetitive. The dialogue and scenarios also started to slowly get more corny compared the strong start in the beginning. Because of this, I started to disconnect emotionally towards the latter half. I think if they had focused more on the supporting characters and their backgrounds instead of so much screen time of them just hanging out... it could have really been elevated.
Nevertheless, it's a still pretty good watch for those who enjoy a strong couple who strategize together against their foes and have run out of other series within this micro-genre to try.

Good story
This is my first time watching a Taiwanese drama and I really enjoyed it . The storyline is very interesting and creative and holds the viewers attention well. I loved the characters and the friendship/family vibes throughout the show. The only character I wasn't crazy about is the FL whom I found quite annoying and totally unrealistic. She was supposed to be portrayed as a spoiled, very, very naive, kind girl who was educated in the US, but instead she came across as a slow witted, low IQ, dumb person behaving like a three year old with her " mommy, mommy, mommy" ridiculousness. It appears that the actress couldn't grasp the idea of playing a naive (not dumb)cute, charming and likeable, interesting character. Instead we got a very, very bland personality along with a very bland appearance and no redeeming qualities She became a bit tolerable towards the end showing a little bit more spine and character. that should actually have been played since the beginning. I have deducted one point from my rating because I think the FL should have been cast to a bit more experienced actress. who would have been able bring an interesting, likeable character to the role. Actually , I think that the FL's best friend (toned down character) would have been a better choice for the FL role. I also didn't see much chemistry between the FL and ML lead to be called a true, believable romance.Otherwise, I truly liked all the other characters/actors and my all time favorite is the boys'mother. What a cute lady she is! The music and scenery was awesome and memorable. Overall, it's a good watch and thank you for the entertainment and your hard work. Bravo!

LOVE
I really loved this K-drama. The story felt very beautiful and memorable. The acting was really good, and you can genuinely feel the love between the main characters, which made their romance very believable.I have to say the secondary romance was a bit boring, but it was balanced out by the main couple, which carried the story. There are both happy and sad moments, but the ending didn’t disappoint and it managed to keep me hooked until the very last episode.
I enjoyed every single episode.

basic
Honestly, this K-drama doesn’t really have anything that makes it stand out. Even though I didn’t dislike it, it feels a bit underwhelming compared to other ones I’ve watched. The story is okay and it’s not boring, but it doesn’t leave a strong impression or bring anything particularly unique. The actors were good, but I feel like the story could have been better developed. They could have gone deeper into the characters and their relationship, because at times their connection felt a bit weak and not fully convincing.
Overall, it’s watchable, but it stays short in impact when you compare it to other K-dramas with more interesting plots, deeper characters, or stronger emotions.

unique
really liked this K-drama because, even though the story can feel a bit cliché at times, especially with the love triangle, it still manages to be very engaging. You can really feel the strong connection between the characters, and the story goes deeper into their emotions, which makes it more meaningful. It’s not a typical romance story. It includes a past storyline that adds an unexpected twist, which is what I mean by how the story suddenly changes direction and reveals something you didn’t see coming, making everything feel more unique and different. There are sad moments, happy moments, and scenes where you just want to scream or cry because of how intense everything is.
For me, it’s definitely worth watching if you want something emotional and captivating.

Easy to watch adaptation true to original story, with good visual atmosphere
Having read the manga, watched the donghua, and loved the first live action adaptation of Soul Land, this drama was a satisfying watch that was definitely closer to the original story than Douluo Continent (DC). First time watchers with no prior understanding of the story might be a little thrown off by the first episode, which kicks off in the middle of a fight, but stay invested and the plot plays out coherently after. But if you are like me, who really loved the original story and the donghua music, the opening of this drama was perfect, where the combination of the epic donghua OST, good CGI, decent visuals made me hooked from the get go.Pros:
- I hate to admit this but I actually thought the chemistry between the leads here were better... (even though my personal bias is Xiao Zhan). The supporting cast also felt better/more appropriately casted here, be it in terms of cast chemistry, characterisation of their roles and even the way they were styled. Ma Hong Jun in DC was totally different from the original which was somewhat strange but Ma Hong Jun here was perfect (albeit thinner lol).
- Good plot pacing and plot that followed the original story closely.
- Way better set costumes and good CGI (but game-like, which might not be the preferred vibe for some people) that blended in decently and made the drama setting look much more immersive and enjoyable to watch.
- The drama-specific OSTs were not super memorable but were complementary to the show at least.
- *Liu Yuning appearing towards the end in his guest role cracked me up so much but he nailed it regardless!!
Cons:
- It's been a while since I've watched it and nothing particularly bad stuck out, other than taking some time to get used to the characters who are all played by completely different characters. And the ending only stops midway of the original story, in the midst of one the more interesting arcs so I do hope there is a sequel because the set visuals of that arc were beautifully portrayed in this drama.
Tldr if you loved the original novel/donghua, this would be a perfect watch! Also a great watch for anyone who enjoys fantasy themed shows and...likes games I guess lol (the fighting dynamics in the show is somewhat like that of games like Dota, LoL, Honor of Kings, MLBB etc.

Outstanding & Heart Touching drama
Recently finished the Midnight Series: Moonlight Chicken
🧡Bravo to the Leading casts—Earth, Mix, Khaotung, First, Gemini, and Fourth💛
Even more so for the screenwriters, producers, and the behind-the-scenes crew.
This drama was a deeply moving experience that I didn't fully expect. It skillfully addressed complex life issues, from the challenges of raising a relative and financial struggles to the pain of a love life ending in tragedy. I was particularly struck by how it portrayed young adults seeking their identity, the sting of betrayal, and the difficulty of navigating dying relationships.
There were moments that truly challenged me, with the scenes depicting the ignorant myths surrounding the LGBTQ+ community (especially when my grandchild is part of this community!). 😒 focusing on a scene that has me literally screaming ... "What are you talking about??? If your nephew didn't live with you & being a Gay uncle, he wouldn't have become Gay? WTH are you talking about? Being Gay is NOT ccontagious, nor is it a learned lifestyle 🙄 for pete sake. 🤦🏼♀️
This is such a common iignorance among people that truly believe that if you are around any kind of person from the LGBTQ+ community, that they will rub off on you?"
Why in the world would anyone be so ignorant, naive... or literally lacking Intelligence, even consider that the conclusion!?! EDUCATION works WONDERS! Bring your ignorance to the back of the bus or better yet ... KICK IT OFF THE BUS!!!
This part of the drama had me screaming at him and asking WTH are you talking about, you and your ridiculous sister that claims to be a parent???
Thank you Wen for being the voice of reason, which he does throughout this whole drama!!!
My favorite character ***Wen*** 😊
The ending was particularly touching; Kaipa’s tribute from son to mother was beautiful and had me reaching for the tissues. It was a poignant reminder that while it takes time to accept failure or the choices we've made, everyone eventually finds their solid ground.

Worth giving a try, it's quite good
OK this drama is underrated I swear (don't know if it was a big thing when it was airing or not though). It's the category of drama that either you love it real or you find it boring. For me, it's the former. It's bubbly and makes you smile. The angst between your cold CEO and extremely capable secretory, the CEO's absolute dominance and intelligence, ya, typical. The story is good, and yes a bit repetitive with the entire memory loss part, but not bad. It actually influenced me into wanting to be a more career oriented independent woman 😂 But it does pull you in and make you feel attached. By the end, definitely it will leave you with a broad smile. Feel good 👍🏻
Xuan Lu and Zhao Zhiwei have a good chemistry. And mind it, Xuan Lu's character as Nie Xingchen here is like the exact opposite of her character as Jiang Yanli in The Untamed and that blows my mind even now (I'm still crying and I can't get over it 😭). The side characters are really good. The second couple were honestly interesting and had a good story. 8/10. Casting was a good pick. All the overdramatic scenes, good good good.
Yes, a story about 2 successful, modern, independent people and an unspoken bond that brings them together again and again. A good rom-com. Rewatch worthy (I've watched it twice) 👍🏻

Kepercayaan budaya Korea masih kental mengenai per-dukunan, tapi menurutku yaa nyambung2 aja siih dg dimana kepercayaannya.
Kalo ga kamu yg berhentiin, maka ga berhenti.
Kalo ga berhenti di kamu, terus di siapa lagi?
Aahhh! pokoknya aku seneng bangettt nemuin dan namatin series ini. Kayaknya kutukannya bisa digali lagi, season 2 juseyooo 🙏🏻

Fast Paced and Action Packed
I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it. It was really fast paced, and I had to slow it down to .75 speed and occasionally back up to catch everything. The acting was good and so were the fight scenes. Most of the time, the CGI was good, but not when it came to the monster. Don't sign off when the credits start rolling because there are two more scenes after the credits and both of them are separated by credits. Stay to the end.Was this review helpful to you?
Smart, Fast, and Funny
If you’re looking for a binge-worthy, "fast-food" style historical drama, Royal Upstart (Season 2 of 贤婿) is a fantastic choice. The best part? You don’t need to have seen the first season to dive right into this one.The drama follows a classic but addictive trope: a modern man time-travels into the body of an ancient elite. In the first season, he saved a bankrupt family fortune. This season, our protagonist possesses the body of Wei Hao, a supposedly simple-minded and honest man known for beating up anyone he finds unworthy. He starts as a zhuìxù (uxorilocal son-in-law) for the insufferable Su family. I actually breathed a sigh of relief the moment he tore up that marriage contract—the Su family was truly intolerable!
Wei Hao (Pan Yihong) brings a distinct Gen-Z energy to the past. It’s incredibly fun to watch him "disrupt" the ancient economy using modern knowledge. His highlights, among others, include:
- Opening a hot pot restaurant that becomes the talk of the town.
- Establishing a glass factory to create "treasures" out of thin air.
- Teaching the palace how to make salt to fix the state’s empty coffers.
My personal favorite: helping the Ministry of Works create bombs—specifically using them to literally blow up his rivals' houses.
Despite the light-hearted tone, the story feels surprisingly relevant. Wei Hao comes from an elite background himself, but he uses that position to fight "societal parasites" and corrupt officials who control the government and businesses. Watching him take down bullies and fight injustice mirrors the frustrations many people feel about modern-day affairs.
This was my first time seeing Pan Yihong, and he is a revelation. Not only is he amazingly good-looking, but he plays the character with a convincing blend of humor and heart. He makes it very easy to empathize with the lead.
At only 10 minutes per episode, this is the definition of "easy watching." It’s funny, cute, and completely devoid of unnecessary angst. I finished the whole thing in just a few sittings and highly recommend it if you want a high-energy, feel-good story.
