A Mythical Martial Arts Adventure
This was an enjoyable and unexpectedly delightful watch. I stumbled upon it by chance while browsing Viki Rakuten for something with mythical elements. I immediately recognized He Landou from A Journey to Love—she’s wonderful on screen and did her role justice. Cheng Tao from Moonlight Mystique was also a pleasant surprise in the cast, bringing to life a fun, comical character. It’s a solid choice for fans of fantasy and martial arts. However, the story did waver a bit toward the end, where the conflicts and resolutions felt somewhat flat. I’m not sure if I expected more, or if the conclusion simply didn’t live up to the strong buildup in the earlier parts. It’s something to keep in mind, but overall, it's much easier to watch a less than perfect feature in a movie format than committing to a 40-episode drama.

A Comedic Republic-Era Time Loop Romance
This is one of my favorite movies of the year. It's a romantic comedy set during the Republic Era. The entire film is structured around a time-loop continuum, with each reset revealing new information and backstory as the protagonist tries to change events or learn from them. The narrative is neither sleepy nor repetitive, and I’m glad I stumbled upon it. While I wasn’t familiar with most of the cast, I found them dynamic and felt they truly brought their characters to life. Was this review helpful to you?
A Well-Constructed Folklore Thriller
I enjoyed this watch. It is a strong thriller centered around a seemingly mystical mystery rooted in folklore and local tradition. The storytelling was engaging, with a well-paced buildup and a satisfying ending. The plot wasn't stilted or predictable, and it unfolded dynamically through multiple perspectives that all tied back to the central narrative. This added depth and allowed viewers to piece together different versions of the same story in search of the truth. I recommend it.Was this review helpful to you?
Misleading Billing, Still a Strong Watch
This is a good watch—but if you're drawn to it because of Han Dong, be aware that he’s not listed accurately. Although he's shown as part of the main cast, he only has a guest role. He was the main reason I started watching, but I’m not disappointed, as the storyline turned out to be genuinely engaging. The narrative includes elements of mystery and thriller, continuing from a plot line introduced in the first installment. That said, you don’t need to have seen the original movie to understand or enjoy this one. The story centers on a strong lead who seeks answers and ultimately comes to terms with her past. Both the conflict and the resolution are tragic and poignant, and the conclusion was satisfying.

A Layered VR Mystery
This is an intriguing virtual reality sci-fi. The premise is compelling, and I really enjoyed the visualizations of the digital world where most of the story takes place. I also became attached to several of the characters, finding them fun, endearing, powerful, or tragic. I appreciated the layered storyline, which centers around a virtual reality game and the assassination of its designer, gradually unfolding to reveal the central conflict as the protagonists uncover the truth about their world and seek to correct past mistakes. Was this review helpful to you?
A Solid Blend of Crime and Folklore
I really enjoyed this watch. It wasn't what I was expecting, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a thriller-investigative film that blends folklore with modern crime, blurring the lines between reality and the contemporary world as detectives work on cases that incorporate rural beliefs. I thought it opened strong and maintained a good pace as we navigated through misleading clues, with the detectives gradually narrowing down the truth. I would recommend this to fans of Han Dong and crime thrillersWas this review helpful to you?
A Haunting Paper Bride Tale
I enjoy everything related to paper brides and the tradition of making paper dolls as depicted in film. I love the eerie, thriller-like atmosphere in these stories and how they tie spiritual beliefs and customs into the narrative. So, I greatly enjoyed this watch. Even though I knew going in that there would be a realistic explanation behind the opening conflict and events, the storyline didn’t lose its spooky appeal and remained highly engaging. The execution was also somewhat poetic and poignant at times, which really resonated with me, and the conflict resolution was satisfying. I think this is a solid watch that can appeal to a broad audience. Was this review helpful to you?
A Dark and Atmospheric Experience: Quietly Disturbing
I wouldn’t categorize this as horror, but it definitely falls into the psychological, eerie, and thriller-esque realm — and I loved it. The color palette is both dreary and dreamy, perfectly complementing the narrative. The plots are engaging and intricate. Although I figured out the twist halfway through, it didn’t ruin the experience or make the rest of the story feel drawn out. There were still enough unanswered questions to keep me fully engaged. It’s a poignant story that also serves as a social commentary on cultural practices. I wholeheartedly recommend it if you're into eerie mysteries or deceptive supernatural storylines. Was this review helpful to you?
Winged Clans & Mortals: An Engaging Novoland Watch
I really enjoyed this, mostly because of its content, characters, and the direction of the story. I had a difficult time following the dialogue due to poor English subtitles, but I was able to follow the narrative by gauging what was being said through the actors’ performances in real time. It falls under the Novoland universe, which I’ve watched almost all of, so I felt I needed to give this a try. It features mythical creatures and fantastical backstories, with the winged clan clashing with humans, alongside conflicts and love trials. While the narrative itself may not be new, it does a great job translating fantastical imagery into a believable and engaging story. It was a great on-screen experience. Was this review helpful to you?
A Simple Goddess and a Snake Demon Tale
While I wouldn’t call this a masterpiece or a must-see, I did enjoy watching it. Despite some execution issues and familiar themes that made the film feel somewhat low-impact, I was mainly drawn in by the characters—a reincarnated goddess and a snake demon. I’ve always been intrigued by these types of figures, and the story held my attention through its use of hidden identities, minor backstories, and light conspiracies. I’d say it’s a nice rainy-day watch if you’re into mythological and fantasy themes. Was this review helpful to you?
A Reincarnation Tale That Is Engaging and Flawed
I enjoyed this movie. While there were some execution issues that disrupted the flow at times, the overall narrative was engaging and held my attention all the way through. The ending was a bit confusing trying to cater to dual audiences, resulting in an elusive and abrupt conclusion with little closure. That said, I didn’t mind it; I didn’t feel like watching it was pointless. Reincarnation plots and animal demons are always engaging for me, and I thought this story was delivered with a solid pace, strong acting, and visually striking scenery. The conflicts didn’t drag and contributed meaningfully to both plot progression and character development. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this film. Was this review helpful to you?
I really liked the Family aspects of it and I think they did a really good job making it look like it was from that time. As well, I would recommend watching it except the only problem I had was I watched it on Amazon prime and there were a lot of episodes missing so I had to get another app to watch the missing episodes on my iPad which wouldn’t cast my TV so that was a little annoying but other than that if you’re watching it on a different app you won’t have that issue but I do recommend it just keep in mind that it starts winding back up at the end for more that you’re never gonna get, but it doesn’t ruin the story. It just feels like real life.

Chen Kun and Zhou Xun Steal the Show in Fox Demon Tale
I really enjoyed this, though it might appeal to a more limited audience. The film is dated—and it feels that way. The execution is raw, with a pace and delivery reminiscent of earlier cinema. Compared to contemporary films, it’s unpolished, and at times the storyline can feel a bit disjointed. That said, the plot is engaging and follows a linear progression, with well-developed conflicts and a solid narrative arc. I’ve always loved stories involving fox demons, and seeing Chen Kun and Zhou Xun together on screen is a treat. Their dynamic and the chemistry they bring to their roles are a joy to watch.

A Visually Stunning, Mythical Journey
This is one of my top-shelf picks when it comes to movies. I loved everything about it and still rewatch the trailers to this day. The sequences reflect what I enjoy most in film: dramatic, artistic, stylistically engaging, with a captivating color palette, mythical characters, and intriguing plot developments.I loved the storyline and its execution—the conflicts, the villains, the way the narrative translated to the screen and progressed, including the climactic resolutions. I appreciated the subtle backstories, the character dynamics, the settings and aesthetics, and the way different worlds were transformed from obscure to real and tangible. Watching this felt like going on a journey with the characters all the way to the end—and I wasn’t disappointed.

Not really a spoiler more of a storyline that’s typical in dramas.. I hate when families fight over power. It’s just a sad situation to shut your family up to fight against each other. You should be supporting each other and loving each other and not going up against each other.
