A great story
I love this drama!!!FL often drove me crazy bc she was so dumb and needed so much help bc he created messes,
but the whole idea of the script was phenomenal. It was a great lesson in history too, and a great lesson in ripple effects of change - she was literally changing history
and I loved how she traveled back to live with him
My favorite role of Lee Min Ho

And the best ever fashion show of business male attire. Never seen such great combos for suit, coat and tie. WOW.
It was comical and one of the best roles of PSJ
and also FL actress, seems like this was before all that plastic surgery, botox and dieting
FL character here is unique and very competent
Some scenes are totally hilarious, like the two of them in bed drinking wine and watching TV
Some are very endearing, like he helping dig the "clams" or whatever it was

Gay bait, very crude cheesy plot
Boring and useless plot. The dude hangs out with a female so close he can SMELL her, so of course his hormones know she is female.... making fun of him thinking she is male is just ridiculous This drama is of disservice to all gay peopleI guess it was popular before we got tons of BL dramas and ppl wanted to watch at least something gay

I get the hype!
Pursuit of Jade is by no means a perfect show. There are loopholes and nonsensical shortcuts. The ending is rushed, as is often the case in C-dramas. I would have liked for the pacing of the overarching plot to be more even.
That being said, it’s a viral show I really don’t regret watching. Overall it’s quick and fun. The plot moves quickly and doesn’t waste time on too many filler moments.
The main leads have great chemistry and are beautiful to look at separately as well as together. The main draws of the show are Zhang Linghe and the romance, and both deliver. I don’t think I’ve ever watched another C-Drama and commented as many times upon ZLH’s sheer handsomeness.
- I loved that Changyu had her own arc, including a very mundane one in the early part of the show (getting to keep her house, setting up her small business!). She is a Mary Sue-esque character, but for the most part, she remains lovable throughout the show. I liked how grounded, practical, and also warm and cheerful they made her.
- Likewise, I loved that Xie Zheng is portrayed as kind, caring, reliable, and supportive. He is always finding ways to help FCY and not stifle her. He never seems to be threatened by her, and I enjoyed how he learnt to let his defences down and depend upon her.
- The other characters are fun. I especially liked the relationship and banter between Xie Zheng and Gongsun Yin.
Plot arcs and pacing
- I really liked the first arc in Lin’an town. It establishes the characters, the broader intrigue, and it makes you care about the romance and about the nice, laidback village life (in spite of the gossip and social hierarchy. It’s something to look back to with nostalgia during the show. Like Fan Changyu, it makes you long for home and for the old Yan Zheng.
- I enjoyed the middle part when Changyu discovers Xie Zheng’s identity. This is where there is the sweetest hurt/comfort, and where both characters are the most emotionally honest with each other.
- The last 10 episodes were the weakest for me. It would have been better if there had been an extra 5 episodes to develop the backstory of the older generation better, so we don’t get an exposition dump at the end.
Other points:
- I liked that the drama addressed issues like social class differences (especially at the beginning between Yan Zheng and Changyu).
- I loved the soundtrack, and the use of instruments like the suona.
- The costumes have been praised. I totally agree that they looked great.
- I thought the drama was a nice showcase of different aspects of Chinese culture. For instance, the Spring Festival episode was heartfelt and so well-shot.
- I thought the drama’s attitude to sex was frank and refreshing.
- The parallels between the healthy, egalitarian relationship of FCY/XZ vs the toxic, twisted one between Qi Min/Yu Qianqian was interesting.
Overall, a 红 drama which deserves the hype!

Not interesting to me
I watched first episodes, then fast forwarded through the rest and I watched some of the very last.I didnt like the plot and the whole war vibe and yeah honestly portraying special forces as liars and cheaters in private life
I didnt like acting of FL and honestly I dislike acting of ML but in this drama he was not terrible
but it was obvious he was a mismatch for FL
I love the music Mare Mohe is one of my fav songs

A great drama with lots of great messages
I love how ML-FL became a teamI love how FL was so wise and rational
and how she helped ML
and how ML helped her and everyone else
there is also very realistic and poignant showing of different types of ppl - the side plot of the husband-wife-lesbian was very realistic portrayal of those issues - sexist abusive husband hitting on the pretty lesbian, who is hitting on strong silent pushover wife

Glorifying a cold bloody murderer
I actually watched to the end by fast forwarding and I watched the very end episode.WHAT A TRAGIC MESSAGE that nobody can help ppl but a crude KILLER - and ppl have him as a godfather to their kids!!!!
vincenzo is a cold hearted killer and the ending is totally realistic, I am glad FL rejected him

Meh
I still do not understand why this was so popularThe only good thing about this drama is how Goblin was considerate to his bride and did not sexually exploit the teenager throwing herself onto him. He WAITED for her to grow up and become adult first. That was commendable
The bickering Goblin-Grim Reaper was NOT funny to me...
That's all I remember

Meh
Nothing newpalace politics, greedy fenale villain, eccentric ML who is also half villain, dumb FL
Of all characters, I remember only the Tastefully Yours ML for his excellent acting of a seemingly good but super slimey character
and I remember being totally tired of ML who was too blood thirsty possessive and cemented, all the way to the end
and yeah there was a bunch of pretty young princess, I thought wow what a chick bait
overall - I dont see why this drama was so popular. Honestly.

Beautiful Visuals Can't Save This Incoherent, Boring Story
Hotel del Luna is proof that production value and lead actress charisma can't save a fundamentally broken script. Lee Ji-eun is genuinely captivating, and the cinematography is gorgeous—it's a visual feast. But that's where the praise ends. The story is a mess. Plot points happen randomly without logic. The central mystery isn't intriguing; it's just poorly constructed. The romance feels forced and lacks chemistry despite the actors' efforts. Supporting characters are cardboard cutouts with throwaway backstories. Pacing is painfully slow in the first half, then rushed in the finale, leaving you frustrated rather than satisfied.
You're essentially watching a pretty box with nothing inside. Skip it unless you're desperate for aesthetic content.
Final Verdict: 6.5/10 - A visual spectacle that squanders its potential with lazy storytelling.

Miles wei did not disappoint. I missed seeing him in modern drama as the rich, cold, aloof lead and glad this one was worth the wait. Sweet slow burn cozy watch. Also laughed a lot even though didn't expect it to be a comedy. May not be your cup of tea if your not patient with the romance but its beautiful to me and all about returning to love and not falling in. Though i didn't like how the leads kept secrets for so long.
Highly reccomend for Miles Wei lovers!!!!

A bunch of insane psychotic people elbowing up and having a mud fight in a cesspool
This is like a study of insane psychotic peoplea bunch of ppl doing whatever it takes to climb up the social/power/money ladder.... Like a huge mud fight in a cesspool.... So ugly... and without ANY character growth... the characters keep going down, instead of up...
So this is very Hwood type plot .... contrary to the principles of good storytelling ... and thus, a waste of time. NO CONTENT.
The characters start being shady... FL is a chronic liar and manipulator pushing to move on up higher.... the ML is the only one who is somewhat decent, at least his initial goals were to bring justice and revenge for his father. Nana poses with her French haircut and super thick obviously plastic lips...
And the drama keeps getting only worse
This is like a study of insane psychotic people all playing mind games as to how to step over each other. BORING.
6 episodes was enough to get the idea and DROP
The drama has some good acting but a cheap plot - and the lack of content is "made up" by shocking provocative decadent scenes, like .... grabbing an item by bare hand out of a used toilet to appease the villain, or two women making out hard.
Some people said the drama is supposedly a social commentary on what actors etc are forced to do - but that is the point, this drama shows NOBODY FORCED THEM - these ppl **** willingly chose **** to engage in very low level and criminal stuff to get status etc and climb up to the top.
THE CHARACTERS IN THIS DRAMA ARE ALL SUPER GREEDY ELBOWING UP AND THEY NEVR GROW, there is nothing noble or positive (except ML had some and lost it)
Why spend 12 hours watching a bunch of ppl in deep hell and CHOOSING to stay there

started for the laughs, stayed for the feels
so fun! FL is a must watch. i laughed so much.i loved that the pair was bonded from the start. they had good chemistry & worked together against the odds. the schemes they came up with are out of the box. i loved seeing the different sides of ML. FL had the funniest faces and weirdest feet.
great transmigration romance with a happy ending.
the worst parts are MLs wig lace and the fact that her sister lasted as long as she did.
would actually rewatch. for verticals, this was perfection.

It was just okay
I love Mile/Apo ever since KinnPorsche and I only watched this because of them, but I feel this was over hyped a bit. Mile/Apo are two of the best actors I have watched in a long time and I was a bit disappointed that they were chosen for this series with how talented they are. This wasn't as good as I thought it would be and I think their talents were squandered with this. I loved the setting and the plot was pretty good, but the delivery was wrong and I blame the directing. There was a missed opportunity to turn this into a banger BL with a good plot and some serious spicyness, considering we know that Mile/Apo can deliver some spice, but maybe that's the fangirl in me screaming 😱 because there was only one spicy scene between them (which was backwards) and then no more. I watched the quote on quote "uncut" version, yet I 'm still waiting for the "uncut." It didn't live up to the hype. Was this review helpful to you?
