okay but like this was so good

I actually really loved this! I think Perth and Santa both did amazing! I know people were hoping for a serious series from Santa and didn’t like that he half played a child, but I think he was perfect for this role! I feel like it was fun and chaotic. I love the storyline it was fresh and captivating.

My favorite thing is that it starts with them as a couple already. While I love watching the couple meet and fall in love and get closer until they finally get together over time, I can’t help but love it when we’ve got a couple that’s already together. I love the flashbacks to their younger days as well. To me, this was a great series and I would definitely be down to rewatch this!

While Promising Plot become Bogus

I was expected to get Ju Jihoon and Ha Jiwon on one drama and ends up being disappointed. The acting were quite good i have no complaint but the sole problem is execution of the story. The plot was quite promising about political figure married actress only to ends up hiding actress past about sexuality preference and cover the dark side of politic world

I quite like chemistry between the girl, Nana always gorgeous but they quite messing with the pace and it completely make me lose the way of watching this drama only forced my self since i love both of the leads and Nana.

Successful Old Formula

Okay i was quite picky with K-drama and actually i make some draft of my review only to be deleted by system. So I made this review quite late. Personally I think Lim Jiyeon is sole key on this drama, her characters were quite remarkable for Shin Seori to Kang Dang Shim with completely different way of speaking and she always nailed since i watched her in High Society. The chemistry between Lim Jiyeon and Heo Namjun was quite okay for me even it not on the level with overload sparks and it feels minimal due the duration since they got 14 episodes. The emotion about Seori struggles are quite emotional.

Heo Namjun as Cha Segye are quite call for current Male Lead of k-drama. Yeah Segye was quite red-flag boss in real life (when he sad, employees need to suffer to) but somehow get interested with Seori. The Romantic Comedy in this drama was quite practical and some of his speech were quite witty. Cha Segye secretary were quite talented for making impromptu comedy and the banter were quite fun to watch.

My cons about this drama was the ending was quite rushed and feels anticlimax about Mundo action. Mo Tae Hui acting stills need to be refined since most of her part was quite stiff.

Still deserve to be rewatched.

Mr. Coffee waited too long to confess to Eunwoo, and bro should've never brought Mr. Red Flag back. There were too many couples and whenever they got together, they ended the next episode like Ms. Tumor showed up and then left. Jae Won kept hitting the same disgusted face each episode and it got to the point where I started cringing. This Mr. Red Flag guy was partying with all the ladies and still decides to stick with Eunwoo, what kind of lazy writing was this writers? Legit the last episode when they were at the airport, Eunwoo was literally right in front of this guy and didn't even turn around to see him. I can't believe they didn't communicate for a whole year without any messages or calls. Then dude had to wait 1 year to confess and fly all the way back to her. Like how did he even find her walking in that same place from the older episode and what are the chances that they kissed on Wednesday at 3:30 PM? (get it) The other characters in this drama except for that nice couple that got together were all unimportant and weren't necessary. I hope I never see this cheating husband ever again because he is just a walking red flag and he doesn't deserve anything.

finally some good food in the supernatural "horror" department

Didn't expect this to be good, but I ended up binge watching all the episodes in one night (currently it's 4am lol).

It's very entertaining and the acting is top-notch, literally stellar performances from everyone, especially the senior cast. The plot is constructed quite nicely for a supernatural horror (even if a bit predictable) and the special effects are pretty good, I even liked the stylistic choices (more roughed up costumes and realistic make-up, dirt and blood if needed in the scenes). The camera work also wasn't bad (used a few smart tricks to cover sensitive issues) even if the route they took to adjust the action/fights scenes was a bit questionable at times.

Have to say I loved the main characters and got invested in their gruff friendship immediately. I may be the odd one out, but I was glad there's was no romance, since I prefer them as platonic soulmates; their relationship was definitely build up on the trust and care they have for each other (but if you wanna ship them, the chemistry is there so dw).

Strongly recommend to give this drama a try if you like The Guest or Kingdom. Solid 8.5/10 for me.

A Good Watch, But Not a Great One

Sold Out On You is good. Not necessarily great, but a fine watch. I've just completed the show, so here are my pros and cons.

Pros:
- I loved the beginning and middle. The whole plot with it being a little rom-com with some angst from her trauma, insomnia, and depression was fantastic. As I was first watching, the part that brought me in was the where the FL was over-using her prescriptions and the color was falling onto the screen. I wish the story was more of a rom-com with angst scenes instead of going into a serious show and removing the rom-com completely.

- Despite what many think, I did enjoy the main couple. Just because they weren't "omg my hearts pounding every second when they are screen" doesn't mean they were lacking. They were calm, and I really liked that change when it comes to couples in K-dramas because I don't see a lot of it. My heart didn't have to race when they were on screen together. It just felt calm, comfortable, and at peace when they were together which is something I want in a romantic relationship.

- I love Eric. Honestly, I wish he had his own show. But in this show, it was a relief he wasn't a villain because I was getting major creepy vibes from him, but he was just a genuinely good guy in the end. Also, I loved how every time Mecchori thought of Eric, French music would play. As someone who is French that is a real fact. Wherever we go, French music will play.

- Many hate how the FL was mean to her father but idolized her mother. I, however, found it VERY realistic. I have a few relatives who were without their mother. Although their other guardians cared for them, loved them, fed, & clothed them, they always had an idolization and longing of their mother despite her never being in their lives. Seeing the FL experience this felt very natural as someone who knows this happens. People tend to long for the parent or parents they never had.

- Mecchori's second-hand man finally got some love. I've watched a many K-dramas, and my mans is in more than most. Sadly, as he usually plays the second-hand man to the rich ceo guy like how he is with Mecchori and Mecchori's actor in Business Proposal, he NEVER gets love. I felt so happy seeing him finally get with someone.

- The little girl was the best character. She was so sweet even though she was suffering from a terrible skin condition. Even to the people who made the cream and promoted it, she was so kind to Mecchori and FL. I'm glad she got a happy end with her skin condition getting a bit better with the Noori cream. Also her relationship with Mecchori was the sweetest thing.

Cons:
- The main story with the creams and the villains was a bit boring. I even found myself skipping lots of portions in the last three-ish remaining episodes due to the blandness. I do like the idea of the cream plot, but it could've been better with some better writing.

- I wish they kept the FL's "sad" story for a bit longer. In my personal opinion, that was the best part of the show. However, they kind of swept it under the rug after a few episodes and didn't really mention her troubles again.

- I hated the little girl's older sister. She hated the FL for something she didn't do. Don't get me wrong, I would hate someone too if they promoted a product that was harmful, but that's not what I'm trying to get at here. She despised the FL but not Mecchori? Although there were a few scenes where she did show hatred for the man who literally MADE the product, but a second later she is like "omg Mecchori please help me." Hate for whoever wrote her to be like that.

- The writing could've been WAY better. I know many compare this show to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, but after watching, this show is NOTHING like HCCC. However, I did wish it had writing of HCCC, so at least the story could have been portrayed better. Also, the writing for the twist could have been better. It was quite predictable who was bad or "would be" the villain.

- I did not care for how we need immediately who would end up with who. They played the stupid cheesy music a new couple would meet. Like we did not need that for some couples who were literally only mentioned in passing and didn't get screentime or any development.

The low reviews are straight-up lying to you!

Ashes to Crown is officially one of the best dramas I have watched this year so far, and everyone should stop sleeping on it.

In a nutshell, it is a second chance rebirth story that follows a general’s daughter Chu Zhao who gets brutally betrayed, poisoned, and killed by her trash husband, Prince Xiao Xun. But then she mysteriously wakes up reborn right before her wedding with all her past memories intact. Only this time, she is not playing a sacrificial pawn. She is determined to rewrite history. Literally. She teams up with Xie Yan Lai—a brooding, half low-born warrior who she helps rise to become a general while he stands by her side against everyone else.

Honestly, I’m baffled at the lower rating on MDL because this drama totally slays if you ask me. It should be above 8.

If you go into this with the wrong expectations, you might not get it. It is first and foremost a revenge and palace intrigue drama with a good serving of romance, not a fluffy rom-com. But it is a little different from a typical court intrigue C-drama. And I will explain later. Additionally, there is no comedic relief in the drama. It actually gets super gruesome because there are a ton of battle scenes and military fighting. Honestly? I preferred that so much because it completely broke up the usually monotonous pace of the court sessions. Only in Ashes to Crown Everything was balanced so well.

Let’s talk about the production value because I am obsessed. I found myself squealing at my TV quite a lot of times. The acting is absolute perfection. The character growth—especially watching Chu Zhao go from a victim to a calculated revenge machine and Xie Yan Lai rise through the ranks and figuring out that he doesn’t need the Xie last name to be his own person—is handled so well even in such a tight frame.

I have seen both the main lead actor and actress in other dramas, and I know Chen Duling can always deliver such great, heavy emotions; she completely proves here why she deserves a main role. As for Zhou Yiran, he is still young, but he is incredibly convincing. I’ve seen him in Twelve Letters and Generation to Generation and I can tell for a fact he is extremely talented. Costume dramas are absolutely his thing—I can't wait to see what else he's gonna be playing. Even though Chen Duling is seven years older than Zhou Yiran in real life, their dynamic in the drama is seamless because he still carries this effortlessly mature aura on screen. Also, can we talk about the visual team? I absolutely adore whoever styled Zhou Yiran for the role of Xie Yan Lai and the rest of the cast. The costumes were really good, and the makeup was perfect because it wasn't overly done or over-the-top. Except for the Grand Princess of course where it was necessary.

And oh my god, the villains?! I need to expand on them because the antagonists in this drama were stunning. Prince Xiao Xun is such a menacing, power-hungry and absolutely disgusting antagonist, but Xie Yan Fang, the absolute main villain of the show, was genuinely terrifying but brilliant to watch. The way he moves his pieces behind the scenes makes the whole political web feel so dangerous, and honestly, the performance from Tang Xiao Tian was just top-tier. He looked extra sharp here. Along with the rest of the secondary antagonists, they set the stakes so high that you genuinely fear for the leads. And because this drama has no comedy, you are not certain that the leads will even get a happily ever after due to the overall slightly sober and melancholic and serious tone of the drama.

The cinematography and directing style are literally breathtaking. The color grading? Stunning. All the reds in this drama look amazing! And the CGI is actually so even and high-quality, which is rare.
The music score was also a massive addition that completely elevated every single scene. Music in this show is so important and it was clearly there for a reason, acting as a perfect bridge to help carry one scene over into the next. It’s fast-paced where it absolutely needs to be to match the high stakes, and then it gets beautifully brooding in some of the slower, heavier scenes. In general, it just added so many layers and so much texture to what was happening on screen. I truly appreciated it a lot because the score perfectly helped the show maintain its momentum.

Also, the pacing is a massive win for me. The drama is only 24 episodes, which is rare for court intrigue drama but this means the court intrigue and plotting are so fast-paced and tightly written that you don’t even have time to get bored. I don’t know if this is the reason why some viewers who are used to loan winded court dramas maybe didn’t enjoy this as much but it’s chef’s kiss for me. There is zero extra exposition, zero useless monologues, and no filler episodes dragging it down. We get exactly enough info to understand the plot without getting bogged down in endless talking.
The dialogue is so crisp. I recommend the writers. They only put the lines that needed to convey the essential information. Did I think the pacing felt a tiny bit too fast at points? Yeah, I would’ve loved to dive deeper into some backstories. But keeping it at a tight 24 episodes was infinitely better than dragging it out to 30+ episodes just for the sake of it. The thing with the court politics dramas is that eventually you get tired of all the talking. And I think Ashes to Crown had just the perfect amount of episodes and perfect amount of talking.

Now, for my favorite part: THE ROMANCE. It is so, so good! If you love female-centric revenge stories but still want romance, you will literally scream. I see a lot of people call it a slow burn, but I think it just develops incredibly organically. Chu Zhao and Xie Yan Lai already know what they mean to each other by episode 10 where they first kiss. Some dramas take 20 or even 25 episodes to get characters to that point. So I enjoyed the pacing for the romantic storyline immensely. True, Chu Zhao and Xie Yan Lai don't have twenty romantic scenes an episode because romance isn't the main driving plot—it's woven into the revenge story. It's just two people with tragic backstories trying to survive, mutually respecting each other, and finding solace together.

But when they are romantic? The chemistry between Chen Duling and Zhou Yiran is insane. They have several kiss scenes and they are just serving face and emotions on screen. The directing of their intimate moments and the scene compositions spoke to my soul—I literally rewatched multiple scenes several times because the shooting and editing were that gorgeous. Plus, the soundtrack fits perfectly. The vocal tracks during those slower moments added so much depth and kept the vibe going.

Overall, a 10/10 for me. Don't listen to the haters, just go watch it!

To wrap it all up, I highly recommend this drama for so many reasons:

* The Acting: It features really good acting across the entire cast, and Chen Duling and Zhou Yiran have incredible chemistry that makes their romantic storyline so great to watch.
* The Music: It has a fantastic soundtrack that perfectly elevates every single scene and helps maintain the show's momentum.
* The Production Value: The cinematography itself is amazing, and it is beautifully shot with some truly stunning scene compositions that add so much to the overall look, feel, and story.
* The Elite Pacing: If you are like me and skip a lot when watching very long, 35+ episode dramas about court politics, Ashes to Crown is the winner. It moves very fast and does not have any fillers.
* The Crisp Writing: Every single dialogue line only contains enough information to convey the essentials. You do need to be able to read between the lines for character development while everything moves quickly, but it keeps things so engaging.

Interesting Plot but not as much Tension as it should’ve had (in my Opinion)

I dropped it at the end of episode 7.

I like the story. Love plots with con artists who fall for their targets is a trope I like.

With that said, I dropped it bc I couldn’t fathom how quickly the targets got over being conned. It’s not only how quickly they seemed to get over it but also how readily they were to still accept their con artists lover’s apologetic words.

I mean…they’re con artists…how are you going to believe their apologies and words of remorse without enough doubt to create real tension for the audience??

I could get over it rather quickly with the second cp bc it was discovered early on in their relationship so it’s understandle the hurt wouldn’t be as deep but I completely expected for hatred and resentment from the male lead when he found his fiance/husband was conning him??

If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to stand being in the same room as him, I wouldn’t be interested in hearing his excuses, I wouldn’t be interested in having my life intertwined with his in any way, shape, or form after finding out. Yet, in the same episode, he literally can talk to him, be in the same room as him, and accept moving into his house just bc of…geckos in the apartment he’s staying in???
Bro had his life ruined: family and guests gossiping, deception, pain, being disowned, leaving the family’s business empire and he still can support being around his con artist ex?

It was a good plot and I enjoy these plots but the tension and resentment and remorse I expected to see more of just wasn’t there. It was just…a let down from how good it could’ve been. It felt like the writers didn’t know how or were too lazy to actually write a convincing redemption arc for their love story.

I’m sure a lot of people liked it but if you expect the show to deliver in a larger capacity than simple surface-level emotions and comedy then this isn’t the one for you.

I can't understand what this show was trying to be. It does have it's really awesome fun moments and comedy and cute romance but then sometimes it feels like they're laying it on so THICK, making the FL be whatever whenever it suits them. She's supposed to be super smart and a good lawyer and a badass fighter AND a DJ aND an actress and basically anything she puts her hands to she's a pro at but for pivotal plot points she has the critical thinking skills of a wet tissue?
Man she barely knows seen hugging a schoolgirl --> PEDOPHILE! (yes, a very famous actor would totally go around handing cash to and flirting with a minor right in front of his house)
Overhears ten seconds of a conversation with zero context whatsoever --> MISOGYNISTIC BASTARD! (this is a lawyer who fights high-profile celebrity cases btw)

I didn't even fully understand how she suddenly comes up with random things to hate him and wish to dump him for without even talking it out throughout this series. They keep trying to push it down our throats that she's "not like other girls" and that gets tiring after a certain point. It's so dumb that the ML is like "I fell for you because you're not selfish, manipulative, and calculating" and all she's done up to that point is be manipulative and calculating interspersed with short bouts of caring for him. Also, like... she'd have one night stands with guys, dump them, and said that was her way of teaching empathy to sleazebags? Whose lives exactly were being changed lol i don't care if she has a 100> body count but we don't need to bring in a hero-angle to that too

Her misunderstandings and the way she treats ML are so hard to watch sometimes, like they can't decide whether she's a mature character or she's still reeling from previous scars or whether she's just a petty moron who yo-yos between genuinely caring for him and playing with him because she's a "badass" or whatever. The points they raise about the patriarchy and feminism are genuine and important to speak about but at a certain point it becomes so in your face and preachy. Like SHOW us, don't keep TELLING us how fricking unbelievably unbreakable this FL is. For a show trying to promote feminism it looks really biased to have every other woman except the FL be brainless, childish, man-crazy delusional airheads. You kinda feel like everyone other than the main leads are toxic, two-faced, annoying and tiring-- even the SML turns out to be a kinda sleazy idk what they were trying to go for it felt like they suddenly decided halfway that they wanted him with the FL's BFF? More than characters who had growth and arcs it felt like the writers made them do whatever suited their storyline and helped the leads along.

The drama sure has it's really fun moments and well-written scenes, but it all plays out more like a shallow Netflix cash grab than a kdrama with heart.

Messier, Chaotic... Diamond 6

Bitch X Rich Season 2 takes everything from the first season and turns the chaos up a notch. The characters are wilder, the stakes are higher, and the conflicts become much messier with more people getting tangled in the web. Just when I thought I had everyone figured out, the drama reminded me that in this world, trust is a luxury.

One of my favorite things about this season is that it keeps playing with the characters' moral gray areas. I was constantly questioning who's genuinely a friend, who's just pretending, and who's about to pull the rug from under everyone. It made every interaction feel unpredictable, and I loved that lingering uncertainty throughout the story.

What really made the season satisfying, though, was the ending. It felt like everything came full circle, especially for the main lead. Watching her finally confront her biggest fear and choose to do the right thing made her character development feel earned. It wraps up in a way that leaves you feeling rewarded for sticking through all the twists, lies, and shifting alliances.

Incredible boring

I did not enjoy this show, but it was exactly as the description and trailer showed, it was just incredibly boring. I was constantly annoyed with Jun Fei Fan, she was shown in the begining to be a very smart person since she was the head of the family business and pretending to be a man. But she was consatntly caught in awkward situations because she was trying to be sneaky and not being smart about it. Then Xuan Lie was also so infatuated with Jun Fei Fan that he was tailing after her like a lost puppy but also constantly suspicious of her. Like you cant tell her that you love her and would die for her and then yell at her because you think she is betraying her. Also alot of the issues at the half way point were so annoying, since they easily could have been avoided if the leads would have talked to each other. Also the show a few times had these moments where male characters would comment about how women can do anything that men can, which as a women I think its great that shows want to empower women, but there are better ways to do it. The way the show did it was so cliche and it makes me cringe that more then once a male character told a female character that women can do anything men can. The only nice thing I can say about this show is that I liked some of the side characters. I also thought that the male lead was a really good actor and that even though I didn’t love the writing for this show, he kept me interested.

My First C-Drama and OMG

I was dragged into the world of C-drama against my will because I typically hate reading subtitles. That being said after the first five minutes I was hooked. I love the Chemistry between Zhang Linghe and Tian. She did not at all get enough flowers for her performance in this because his character is so grandiose. She totally held her own. She is amazing and adorable, however. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER WAS CHANGNING!! SHE IS A DOLL BABY!!

This story surrounds the Marquis of Wu'an a general found hanging on to life by a thread by our heroine Female lead - Fan Changyu. It tells the story of their love, the battlefield, family and resilience.

Our FL (female leaad) is not only ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. she extremely strong, but she has a kind heart and good taste in men. Although throughout the story there are about what seems like a jillion men who seem to fall for her. Totally understandable though. Through her ventures she meets a best friend, a group of rowdy tag a longs that become family, the HOTTEST husband in C-Drama history (at this point because again it was the first one that I've ever watched. )

The trials and tribulations that they go through begin in Xigu Lane, follow them to Li'nan and then onto the battle field. Through cunning, wit, they survive the toughtest moments.

You should really look up the uncut scene in episode 38. I wasn't a huge fan of how it ended. I wish there was more.

There was a lot of court scenes that I didn't care for, but they are crucial to the background of the story. Also, can we talk about the level of fine men they stocked within this show? I mean DANG!!! Even Chancellor Wei! Amen!!!

All of this to say I am now watching this whole series for a 3rd time, however this time my husband and son are both totally into it and watch a few episodes a night with me. I know a log of women watch this for the absolutely beautiful men in this show; but the storyline is enough to engage everyone. Also the war scenes are phenomenal. It's not overdone. It is simply cinematic genius.

I Reached a Point of No Return!

When I first started this show it was solely because of Ci Sha. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the story line. I feel like the ML and the FL had a great chemistry. As someone who isn't familiar with chinese culture and history it was hard to follow along with the "brother / sister" romance. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the 2nd lead couple. They were so adorable and sweet. I wish that the 2nd household adopted the first household kids, but I guess that would have ruined the marriage between 6th sister and uncle. I loved that this storyline brought in a clear resolution to the familial ties. The ending was pleasant and I wasn't at all disappointed; however it didn't do a great job of explaining how the 5th sister became so kind in the end. I also HATED the way Ci Sha's character ended. UGH>>>>>> HEARTBROKEN!!! I am so in love with that man!
