Beautiful story about trauma, healing, love, and care

I didn't think when I started the first episode that this would be the one drama that would dare me into writing my first public review instead of keeping it just in my private notes... But I just have to after finishing the final epiosde because WOW!

I can't believe it is over... The amount of time I have spent thinking, crying, and smiling over this show in the past weeks is crazy. It's the best piece of media I've watched this year so far (and I've watched other amazing stuff like Khemjira or Paradise of Thorns only this year, soooo...)
Just what an absolute beautiful story about trauma, healing, love, and care!!!

To me, this show is once again proof why-TO ME-the thai dramas are often so superior compared to the ones in other countries... Because, as Puhwin put so eloquently put it, BL isn't a genre, and that's just how they treat it here… It is foremost a story about trauma and healing, and the leads happen two men in love. The trauma and the coping mechanisms are handled really well, the only thing that was a bit… underwhelming and unrealistic for me was Pobmek's mom immediately switching gears after everything she did. But, I guess, the main focus was Solar/Sun's trauma, so I didn't take a lot away from everything else being so well done.

The acting is top-notch, honestly. Big applause to everyone, but especially Santa. Playing both Solar and little Sun so distinctly was amazing, and probably the reason I cried so much basically every episode.

Pobmek and Solar's love is just soooo beautiful? PLS LORD MAY A LOVE LIKE THIS FIND ME SOME DAY cause fuuuucking hell, I wanna be loved and supported and seen like these two do for each other.

This will stay with me for a while and I'm gonna recommend this to everyone who cares and doesn't care!

A perfect crown without an equally perfect ending.

✨👑 It had been such a long time since I finished a Korean drama. I slowly moved more into Chinese dramas because those were the ones that kept my attention, while I usually ended up dropping Korean dramas after only a few episodes.

This drama changed that 💫 It actually made me want to keep watching and finish it, which already says a lot.
One of the biggest reasons was the royal setting.

👑 Even though it’s modern, the idea of a Korea where the monarchy still exists immediately caught my attention, especially because I love historical and royal dramas.

The acting was great 💕 Both leads did an amazing job, especially during emotional scenes. The costumes, filming locations, cinematography, and soundtrack were all beautiful 🎶✨ The story also never felt boring.
My main issue comes near the end. I think some parts needed more development, especially the king’s death and the closure for certain characters.

My biggest disappointment, though, was the decision to end the monarchy 👑💔 I know many people defend it by saying he never wanted to be king or wanted to protect his family, but for me that argument didn’t work. Monarchy is not only about privilege; it also comes with duty, sacrifice, pressure, and responsibility. Those burdens are part of it too.

As someone who loves royal and historical dramas, that decision disconnected me from the story because it removed an important part of what I enjoy about these kinds of narratives.
Still, I really enjoyed the drama overall 💖 The romance, atmosphere, and even the chemistry worked really well for me. And honestly, finishing a Korean drama after such a long time already feels like an achievement 🥹🌷

Messy, Toxic, Over-the-Top, and I Loved Every Minute of It

Let me start by saying — do not let the negative reviews deter you from giving this a try. It's over the top, it's messy, it's unconventional, and it doesn't have a huge budget. But for me, it hit the spot because it concentrated mostly on the romance without drowning me in unnecessary subplots, and that's exactly what I needed. And Everlasting Longing delivered.

The Plot

The plot is extremely simple. A woman gets kidnapped into an enemy state and falls in love with her kidnapper, which only complicates everything because they can't be together due to the political conflict between their nations. The idea and general direction of the story are already interesting enough with genuinely high stakes — writers just needed to build on it better. The first impression is that they kind of tossed a bunch of different situations together so our leads could share the screen. The script feels a lot more like a first draft than a finished product. Still, despite that, the drama left an impression on me for its unique portrayal of a toxic, complex, and more mature romance.

The Romance

Yes, the romance is toxic and far from sweet. And the viewers criticizing these characters for being selfish probably didn't get the bigger picture. All of Qi Luo's concerns about why she can't be with the man she loves are completely understandable — just like his obsession with her is also understandable. She is collected, set on her goal, determined to get back home and protect her family. He is a hormonal, love-obsessed man who simply cannot let her go. They are both torn between their feelings for each other and their duty to their countries. It works.

If viewers feel uncomfortable watching the first half set in Beixuan while Xuan Lie is still a horrible red flag, they should move on to lighthearted romcoms. This drama is simply not for them.

The Chemistry Debate (Yes, I'm Going There)

There are too many people online criticizing the casting of Angelababy with Song Weilong, and I'm not quite sure why. First of all, Song Weilong has plenty of experience working with older actresses — his co-star in Find Yourself is twelve years older, among his other co-stars. Secondly, this man can make chemistry with my nightstand. So here? The chemistry is absolutely present. People saying Angelababy is showing her age on screen are insane — they must be eighteen or nineteen. Oh, I will see how they sing when they are my age. Women in their mid-thirties are fine as hell. I wish I could get my thirty-seven back now; I'd be very happy. If viewers can't feel the chemistry between them at the end of episode fourteen, they are blind and should not be watching romantic dramas. Period. Angelababy and Song Weilong looked absolutely gorgeous together. He has the kind of aura that allows him to feel domineering, endearing, and protective alongside any more experienced actress. And she is drop-dead gorgeous. So, let’s just not.

Character Growth

Xuan Lie does grow as a character in the last third of the show once he realizes his mistakes. His growth actually starts much sooner — when he plans on deceiving everyone at his wedding to let Qi Luo leave. Unfortunately, Qi Luo never finds out about his intentions and takes matters into her own hands, which causes the rift between them. She also realizes toward the end that forcing herself to forget someone she can't is futile. Here again, I think the writers needed to develop this realization in her earlier, before Xuan Lie's alleged death in Yannan. There were too many wasted opportunities in Yannan — instead of having three or more scenes (that basically repeated themselves but in different settings) of him asking Qi Luo to talk about their relationship properly and her telling him to leave, the writers should have written better situations for him to actually show her he's changed and her accepting him. Show, don't tell. Please.

This was a very lazy script work. Nothing to do with actors.

What Didn't Work

From what I already mentioned, the biggest flaw is the weak writing and the many missed opportunities. This drama could have also used a couple more episodes to wrap things up better and give our leads more time to be an actual couple after they reunited. Them coming together to terms with wanting to be with each other felt rushed. I wanted more romance and courting and tension post-reunification — give me the payoff! But this seems to be the general issue with most romantic C-dramas. Writers start building the foundation for the romance and then get carried away and forget how many episodes they actually have to finalize everything, so they scramble at the last bit to put things together as fast as they can.

I also don't understand the choice not to show Xuan Lie and Qi Luo's children. Why?

Another extremely missed opportunity is Shao Qi Min and Qing Kou's storyline. It started off so well — Ren Hao was stunning in the few episodes they were paired up together at the beginning. Their ending was horrible, but made total sense. The problem? Writers completely ignored them in the middle stretch. If you're going to give a secondary couple screen time, then actually develop them. They did Qing Kou so dirty. She was an interesting character at her core—a spoiled princess who falls for her slave/foreigner. She ended up being neglected by writers entirely, and I kept wondering why writers bothered setting them up at all as a couple. Or why include her character at all? They wrote her horribly.

The Acting and Production

As far as acting goes, both leads did well. Song Weilong needs a high-budget drama to truly showcase his skills. He's great in romantic roles, he has a strong on-screen presence, and as I've said — he can create chemistry with anyone. He's still not quite there with certain emotional scenes. I think sometimes, when it gets too nuanced he doesn’t quite pull it off, but I think that's partially a direction issue because I’ve seen enough fo his work to see that he does have talent. He just needs that one big role for him to show it. Angelababy is very pretty, and here's my advice: if you start watching and consider deserting it after a couple of episodes because you're put off by her acting while she's still dressed as a man — don't let it affect your view. Keep at it for a few more episodes. Her character changes throughout the drama as she starts wearing women’s clothes, and her mannerisms change as well.

I also initially dropped it because of poor CGI in second and third episodes, but in all honesty, CGI is used sparingly, and there are only a handful of scenes where the budget is obviously lacking. It won’t be too distracting later on. For the most part, I really liked the costumes, especially in the Beixuan setting. So give it a few episodes — if you're still around after episode four, you'll probably enjoy it or at least finish it.

Final Verdict

Everlasting Longing is not the best historical drama out there. The script is underdeveloped, some characters aren't fully fleshed out, and the main couple deserved more time together after reuniting and some better-written scenarios. The secondary couple was ignored by the writers altogether.

But… this was romance-heavy with very high stakes. It was fast-paced and didn't waste time on unnecessary characters and subplots. The music is beautiful. And the relationship between Xuan Lie and Qi Luo was complex enough to keep me invested throughout. This is exactly why I watch romantic C-dramas — over-the-top stories with swoon-worthy male leads that make me feel things.

I think this would be perfect for someone just starting their journey into Chinese historical dramas who hasn't yet seen recent blockbusters like POJ or POB and doesn't have their bar set astronomically high. That said, I watched this right after those titles raised my bar, and I still enjoyed it. For me, this was very entertaining — flaws and all.

Breathtaking Visuals, Superb Acting, & Extremely Disjointed Plot

Love Beyond the Grave is a romantic drama that follows a powerful ghost sovereign He Simu (Dilraba Dilmurat) and a young mortal general Duan Xu (Arthur Chen) as they work to maintain peace between the mortal and spirit realms while a slow, impossible romance unfolds between them.

If you decide to watch this drama, don't set any expectations just because two big names that have been in a variety of successful romance dramas are attached to it. Love Beyond the Grave is a very different C-drama experience unlike any other romantic drama you've seen. Unfortunately, despite the absolutely stunning cinematography and very good acting, the disjointed plot ruined it for me. No, this isn't a horrible drama — I've definitely seen worse ones that I dropped. I did power through to the end, but for about two-thirds of it (last two-thirds no less), I kept asking myself why it was taking so long to get to the point and when it was going to end. So as far as the enjoyment and entertainment factor go, this drama was absolutely underwhelming.

Now that I've shared my personal experience, let me expand on why you might still want to watch this — and why it may not be for you.

The Pros

First and foremost, Love Beyond the Grave has the best cinematography and the best CGI I've seen in a Chinese drama so far. It beats everything else. All the fantasy elements are extremely nuanced — color, graphics, composition. The camera work, the slow-motion sequences, the music, and the visuals come together to bring you a one-of-a-kind experience. If you appreciate good cinematography (like in The Double) and scene composition, you will genuinely enjoy this.

The acting, including the child actors, is amazing. I have absolutely no complaints.

The Lead Pairing

I see a lot of criticism about Arthur and Dilraba giving off "aunt-nephew vibes." That's absolutely not true. I think some viewers simply forget that it's intentional for her to read as older than him — she is literally four hundred years older. He is young, ambitious, and full of life, and I had no problems with their pairing at all. I've said it before and I'll say it again: this criticism of age gaps between actors when the woman is older in real life needs to stop. Women have been judged and stigmatized for centuries, and for some reason their entire identity gets tied to their age. Dilraba is a talented actress who absolutely inhabited the role of He Simu. She showcased her range immensely as we follow her character from the cold, unfeeling, and calculating figure at the beginning to her devastating breakdown in the final episode. It's a stellar performance.

Arthur Chen is a great fit for Duan Xu. He has the youthful energy, but as an actor, he doesn't fit the typical mold of popular C-drama actors with an insane face card. He has this mature and masculine energy about him that allows him to embody the role of an army general convincingly. As far as chemistry between him and Dilraba goes, this is not a story that concentrates strongly on romance in the traditional sense with all the bells and whisles and crazy skinship, but the chemistry is there. It's executed really well in the scenes where both leads are present — I liked all of their interactions, all the tender moments and the way they were set up and excuted by the production team. I believe considering the actual age gap between the characters in the story and the difference between their life experiences, these two actors were very well matched in this drama to represent what needed to be conveyed on the screen.

The Plot Problem

Now…the biggest issue. The plot and how different storylines are presented absolutely did not work. I don't know if it has anything to do with the source material, but rewriting source material to match what viewers expect on screen is never off the table. So here's what went wrong.

The pacing at the beginning was slow but done really well. There was a lot of focus on our lead couple during the first military campaign arc where we get to know our characters and learn Duan Xu's backstory. The story was developing in an engaging, eerie way — almost a noir feel to the entire picture. There was this dark on the current of suspense that transported me elsewhere, and I truly connected with it. Duan Xu's fighting scenes when he infiltrated the enemy camp were a visual feast. Arthur Chen did so well in them. Some of his scenes were extremely intense and were great to watch, which mistakenly set up certain expectations for me as to how the rest of the drama may unfold.

Then the second arc comes in, set in the Spirit Realm where he follows He Simu, and nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. Everything that occurred there could have been wrapped up in two to three episodes. It didn't need to drag on for ten. The characters didn't get quality interactions, we didn't see any real high stakes, and Duan Xu spent most of the arc in bed or walking around the realm and doing random things. It stretched on for multiple episodes until I started skipping. We had characters introduced who only lasted a few episodes and existed solely to be killed off — I did not understand why they needed that much screen time. That valuable screen time could have been given to the lead couple so we could experience more romantic situations between them.

Meanwhile, one of the most interesting supporting characters, our antagonist Yan Ke, was robbed of a proper backstory and story arc. Miles Wei was amazing as Yan Ke, but he was written as a villain for the sake of being a villain. We've had several really good villain origin stories in recent 2025 dramas (I still can’t get over how well Situ Ling was written), so I don't understand why Yan Ke had so much screen time but didn't even get a proper backstory. It was extremely disappointing. His character was flat and not even charming. You absolutely didn’t want to route for him or understand him.

Then in the second half, additional characters start popping up in the mortal world. We had an interesting storyline developing between Fang Xian Ye (Gao He Yuan) and Duan Xu's sister, only for it to end in the most underwhelming way. I understand why Fang Xian Ye sacrificed himself, but you just feel sorry for the man because he never had a chance — his entire life was reduced to dying for somebody after already doing so much for them. Then there's an emperor who shows up out of nowhere for a handful of scenes, and every single one of those scenes dragged on unnecessarily. I started questioning why we were suddenly deep in the mortal world politics without any fantasy elements. This drama started off as a fantasy drama very strongly, but then shifted to the mortal world and most fantasy elements just disappeared until the final few episodes. Essentially, I could not understand the direction of the drama. Was it going to stay a fantasy drama or was it going to become a court politics drama? It was neither. It kinda just wobbled unevenly through the poorly paced script. We also have too many episodes where our lead couple did their own separate things (that weren’t very interesting to watch) and had no screen time together at all.

Character Arcs and the Romance

Overall, the character arcs for most of the cast were flat, incomplete, and not woven into the story evenly. Poor Duan Xu also lost his steam as a character toward the end — nothing ever came of him owning the magical sword, and I'm not sure why that element was even introduced at the beginning. If this information was somewhere in the drama and I missed it, the writing wasn't good because the sword presence and a promise of Duan Xu becoming immortal just wasn't explained very well. Why was it mentioned at all? The one character who made complete sense was Xia Qing Sheng. He was saved by He Simu and ended up taking over her duties, which is a twist I did not expect but was totally fine with. It worked. The child actor who played his young-self was very good.

The romance itself starts off great, but the love story between our lead couple is sweet and slow and not overly exciting, especially later on. It's very different from a typical romantic drama. There's almost no comedic relief with the exception of a couple of scenes. The music sets the mood from the very beginning — it's dark and becomes foreboding toward the end, and you can tell something is going to happen. While some characters do survive and get a good ending, the ending for the lead couple is different. I wouldn't call it open because it's easy to guess what will probably happen in the future, but I still wish we could have had a glimpse of them together one screen one last time.

The Last Stretch

The last ten episodes are absolutely convoluted and they just keep dragging. There are a couple of exciting episodes toward the end, and the final episode will probably make you tear up. I enjoyed the wedding scene and everything that happened after—it made me fele things. But essentially, the biggest flaw with this drama is that the script was underdeveloped. It didn't develop supporting characters or supporting storylines well, the pacing was off, and there was a lot of foundation-building that led absolutely nowhere.

Final Verdict

My advice? You may enjoy Love Beyond the Grave if you haven't yet seen the top-tier romantic C-dramas, because this one lacks most of the classic elements of a typical romance. It could probably serve as a good entrance point into Asian dramas if you are just starting out and want to dip your toes into something. But you may not enjoy other fantasy dramas after this, because as I've mentioned, the CGI is superb here, so everything else that has heavy CGI you'll watch after this drama mught a disappointment. But if you’ve seen a lot of C-drama romance and are coming in expecting a swoony love story packed with romantic tension, this is not that. But if you want something visually stunning with strong performances, it might be worth your time. What works here is the cinematography, the graphics, the visual storytelling, and the acting — it is an absolute stunner to look at. What doesn't work is almost everything else underneath. So think for yourself and decide if you want to give it a try.

A Promising Show I'm Looking Forward To

My Royal Nemesis has been a breath of fresh air with a good deal of new tropes.

You rarely get to see what happens from the viewpoint of the claimed 'villainess/villain' but getting to see not just one but 2 of them is truly remarkable. An added bonus would be their amazing chemistry and acting that simply pulls you along for a memorable ride.

It is funny, emotional and relatable and despite it not even being aired completely, I would like to recommend it to you if you're looking for something classic yet different at the same time.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the rest of it.

Truly Something New

Love You Teacher is a show that I think really tries something new in a way that definitely pays off! I think a show like this dealing with the complex topics that it covered could go very poorly, but this show actually handled everything really well. I also LOVE that the plot had really nothing to do with the romantic relationship between the main couple - they have already been together for seven years, and there's truly nothing that could come between them. It's about these two characters trying to figure out how to navigate this sudden change in their life.

Pobmek (Perth) and Solar (Santa) have been together since they began college, and are now both teachers at the same school. Solar is one of the school's best teachers and clearly loves the kids; Pobmek probably couldn't survive teaching elementary school kids without Solar. One day, Solar is hit by a car on his way to work, and while physically mostly unharmed, he wakes up as seven year old Sun. Pobmek has to navigate not only teaching kids at school, but also caring for Sun at home. Every other day, Sun wakes up as Solar instead, with no memory of what happened during Sun's day. Pobmek, along with other teachers at the school, have to try to figure out a way to get Solar back in control.

I LOVED this show. While of course the main story is about Solar/Sun, I think they do a great job highlighting Pobmek's struggles as someone suddenly needing to care for his partner. The exhaustion and guilt that follows is so well done and really made Pobmek's character feel real. Also, I felt that the way they handled the whole Solar/Sun thing was actually super well done - not gonna lie, I was quite nervous going into this show because of this. I do think they could have benefitted from a bit more explanation, especially towards the end of the show when the viewer learns about Sun's past, but overall it was handled well. Plus, Perth and Santa will always deliver on the chemistry between their characters, and I am really glad that they made it a point to be careful with their relationship during the whole Solar/Sun switching problem. Like I said, all of these issues were handled way better than I thought they would be. I also thought the pacing and ending of the show were super well done. Since most dramas focus on the couple getting together, I found this to be a nice change of pace with the couple already together and navigating hardships as a team. This one is super refreshing for it's unique themes, but definitely on the more emotional side, so absolutely worth watching if that's something you like!

True love that trancends time can crack reality in a entertaining way

Even though my favorite genre are thrillers, after watching “Rooftop Prince” I am more convinced that time travel dramas capture my attention more deeply than other genres.

“Rooftop” IMO has it all, Comedy, romance, intrigue, betrayal, fantasy elements, and a blend of historical and modern culture. I will start with the setting. Time travel. Mixing the Joseon era with modern day times or characters are not new. But most of them that have been made have been successful. What captured and kept my interest was the characters. This unit was great. Not perfect, but great overall.
The idea of not only the crown prince travels to the future, but a few of his scholars and security followed along with him. The travel element just doesn’t have them transform for general purpose. There are auras of reincarnation after a tragic death and vow for revenge.

Noted performances –
Park Yoo Chun as Crown Prince Lee Gak. The guy lead with a serious tone mixed with comedic and leveling undertones. His three assistants provided a hearty comic relief after some tense and sad moments. They were pivotal in reminding us how one may act or adjust to life 300 years in the future. (Toilet bowl LOL) Just to name a few.
- Han Ji Min as Park Ha. Han Ji Min’s performance was adorable and convincing.
Her various emotions throughout the series were heartfelt. Her character was so likable. I wanted the best for her. Her character was “dragged through the mud” at times. Even though some situations are fueled by her own gullibility. I did find this a little frustrating. Mostly because I wanted her to lock in at critical moments. Overall, it was the performance. One she won a few awards for including the SBS top excellence.

The Antagonist or villains were okay. Hong Se Na and Tae Mu were just as crooked in their past lives. Hong Se Na got on my nerves on many occasions. Later in the series she foils chances to leave it all behind, but she chose to make dumb heartless decisions after another. I found the lack of karma for all of her devious moves throughout the series unsatisfying.
Ha’s friends Becky and Mimi were a nice small addition for supporting characters. IMO, they made the right number of appearances. Not too many, just enough to make a small amount of “supporting” impact. If that makes sense.
The story involving the truth and the disappearance of Tae Young was okay. The side story of Chairman Jang’s quest to find her missing daughter was also okay but drawn out too long.

I feel the series at times played out like a soap opera. And that is not a terrible thing, knowing it was produced over 14 years ago. However, the OST (for me) was average. The loud singing at times where an instrumental may have made a deeper emotional impact was evident. However, there were at least some OST choices that were on point.
Obviously, many of the elements kept me engaged. But it was the interaction between Prince Gak and Park Ha that sealed it. Their relationship wasn’t forced; it was a slow burn. One that was not easy to come by. But the chemistry was there, even with the “idiot” bickering lol. Maybe because I was so engrossed with Park Ha’s character, I knew that being with Gak would make her happy.

Each episode after about episode 10, (after the oops! Text message) I could not help but wonder “how is this going to end?” There was no way Park Ha was traveling back with him, right? So, I geared myself up expecting a letdown at the end. What I got was wedding vows of love and a heart wrenching realization that more of a miracle would be needed.

Overall, despite some small nick picks, I enjoyed “Rooftop Prince” It motivates me to seek out other gems I have missed over the years. I realize some do not like it, while others adore it as much as I did. It is all personal preferences. Example - I had issues with “Destined with you” (My rating 4.5) Another fantasy type series. While a few others loved it with 10’s. But at least I even wrote a long review of why and how I would fix the things that made me rate it so low.

If you are open about fantasy genres with a comedic historical twist, I highly recommend “Rooftop Prince.”

to short for good world building

For a drama about a modern day monarchy, we barely learn anything about how this world actually works. Besides the main characters having the usual sad backstories, we never see how the elites live versus the regular, title-less people. Because they didn't show that unfairness, and because IU’s character basically already had everything besides status, it was super hard to actually root for her to get a title. It just felt kind of lackluster.

Besides the romance (which also ended up being rushed), the plot especially the villains just felt so boring to me. It never felt like they had the upper hand. The 2ML turning “evil” out of jealousy is also one of the most boring tropes ever. The monarchy felt so much like a joke and i couldn’t take it serious at all.

I feel like if they had even stretchers this just to 16 episodes instead of 12 and actually build up a world with a good story, this drama could’ve been way better.

WIFE OF A 21ST CENTURY PRINCE

From the very first announcement of Perfect Crown, I was already invested. And when I say invested, I mean I was following every little update possible. I still remember the period when rumors started spreading that Byeon Woo-seok and IU might back out of the drama, and honestly that whole phase felt stressful for no reason. I had already imagined them in those roles, so hearing those rumors had me checking every article and update like crazy. Thankfully everything worked out, because I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else playing these characters now.

Watching the drama finally air in 2026 honestly felt rewarding after waiting for it for so long. Somewhere along the way, it became part of my weekly routine without me even realizing it. Fridays and Saturdays started feeling exciting again because I knew there was a new episode waiting for me later in the day. I’m not even kidding when I say I would wake up those mornings and immediately search for previews, still cuts, spoilers, theories — literally anything related to the upcoming episode. It’s been a while since a drama made me feel that kind of anticipation every single week. Now that it’s over, weekends genuinely feel a little empty.

What I loved most about Perfect Crown was just how enjoyable it was to watch. It’s one of those dramas that pulls you in very naturally. The chemistry between Byeon Woo-seok and IU was honestly one of the biggest strengths of the show. Their emotional scenes felt believable, their lighter moments felt comfortable and natural, and together they carried the drama so well. But beyond the romance, I also liked how the drama balanced different elements without making things feel messy. There was palace politics, family tension, romance, humor, emotional moments, and even some quieter scenes that just made you attached to the characters more.

I also need to give a huge shoutout to Gong Seung-yeon as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang because WOW. Her performance was genuinely phenomenal. She brought so much elegance, restraint, tension, and emotional complexity to the role that every scene with her felt important. The character could have easily become one-dimensional in another drama, but Gong Seung-yeon made Yi-rang feel layered and human even during her coldest moments. Some of the best acting in the drama honestly came from her scenes.

And another shoutout to the real MVPs: Yoo Su-bin as Aide Choi Hyun and Lee Yeon as Do Hye-jeong. They did SUCH a fantastic job. Whether it was emotional support, comedic timing, or simply being the ride-or-die assistants everyone secretly wished they had, they added so much charm to the drama. Their scenes were always enjoyable, and honestly half the time I found myself just as invested in them as I was in the main couple

I also appreciated that the drama didn’t feel exhausting to watch. Even during slower episodes, there was always something that kept me interested enough to immediately want the next episode. Some dramas lose momentum halfway through, but Perfect Crown managed to keep me emotionally invested almost the entire time.

That being said, I really do think this drama could have benefited from being a full 16-episode series. The constitutional monarchy storyline had SO much potential. I found the political side of the story genuinely interesting, especially the royal family dynamics and the tension surrounding public image, power, and responsibility. There were certain plotlines and side characters that felt like they could have been explored more deeply if the drama had just a few extra episodes to breathe. I wouldn’t say the pacing was bad, but there were definitely moments where I thought, “I wish they expanded on this more.” The world they created felt interesting enough that I honestly just wanted to spend more time in it.

And as someone who absolutely loves domestic fluff, the final episode was such a treat for me. Sometimes after intense plot-heavy dramas, all I really want is to see the characters happy and comfortable together, and this drama delivered exactly that. The little everyday moments, the soft conversations, the peaceful atmosphere between them — it all felt so warm and satisfying to watch. Those scenes honestly ended up being some of my favorites in the entire drama because they felt earned after everything the characters went through.

To anyone reading this before starting the drama: trust your instinct and just dive in. Don’t overthink ratings, discourse, or people trying to convince you otherwise. If the cast interests you even a little bit, give it a chance. It’s genuinely such a fun ride. For me, Perfect Crown became one of those dramas that reminded me why I love watching ongoing kdramas in the first place — the excitement, the waiting, the discussions, the anticipation every week. And honestly? I’m really going to miss that feeling.

Completely captivated by The WONDERfools

Absolute masterpiece. The WONDERfools brought out so many emotions in me. I cried, I laughed, and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for hours because I truly enjoyed every episode. The cast was just perfectly selected! Cha Eun-woo is my number one actor, and I can say this is one of his best roles ever. He is just amazing, and so many of his scenes keep replaying in my head. I'm definitely rewatching this drama 👏👏👏

Love You Teacher is genuinely one of the best series I’ve watched in a long time.

I already had high expectations after watching the pilot trailer, but now that the full series has aired, I can confidently say that it exceeded them. This is the kind of series that has been amazing from beginning to end, and every part of it, from the directing to the writing to the acting, works together beautifully.

I don’t give out 10/10 ratings easily. Even when I personally enjoy a series, I still try to be fair in my ratings because storytelling quality matters a lot to me. So the fact that this series ended up being a 10 for me really says something.

What impressed me the most was the directing.

P'Dome did a phenomenal job bringing this story to life. Every creative decision felt intentional. From the camera work to the color grading to the visual framing of the flashback scenes, the series constantly showed a clear artistic vision. There are so many moments that stood out visually, but one of my favorites was the scene where the camera moves together with the fan. It’s such a small detail, but it reflects how carefully thought-out the direction is throughout the entire series.

It’s honestly rare to watch a BL series where the director’s identity and vision feel this clear, and it made me an even bigger fan of his work.

The writing is just as strong.

I’ve heard that the original novel is excellent as well, which makes sense, but adapting a novel into a series is never easy. A lot of adaptations either rush through important moments or spend too much time on unnecessary scenes. This series manages to find an almost perfect balance with its pacing. The emotional moments are given room to breathe without the story ever feeling slow.

Last, but not least, is the acting.

Perth and Santa have incredible chemistry together, but what really impressed me is how believable they felt as a couple who had already been together for seven years. That’s actually much harder to portray than a new relationship, but their dynamic felt completely natural from the start.

Santa especially stood out to me because he essentially had to play two roles at once: Sun and Solar. That’s a difficult challenge for any actor, especially during scenes where the switches between the two happen rapidly, but he handled it perfectly. You could genuinely feel the anxiety, confusion, and emotional exhaustion right alongside the characters.

I honestly feel like I could keep talking about this series forever, but this is one of those shows that people really need to experience for themselves.

I can’t recommend this series enough. If you’ve been thinking about watching it, do it. I truly don’t think it’ll disappoint.
