Not a bad drama

I'm glad I did not let the negative reviewed sway me into giving this drama a pass.
It's a good time, even without alcohol (joking).

The story was ok, leads also, and it's an easy watch without too much angst because even if some cliffhangers are nicely done, you can guess not much will really happen and no one is in real danger.
The romance was ok and it was all due to the ML and FL chemistry.

Thinking back, I think the story was told wrong, the back and forth in time was not made at the right time (or in the right episodes) so you start to understand the vision a bit later (I would have liked them to set up the premise and everything right from episode 1). Spend more time in Joseon instead of filling with some below-average side plots that were useless if I'm honest.

Still a good watch, but no rewatch value

Deeply humane but beware it can be triggering

The Korean title for this drama is Morning Also Comes in a Psychiatric Ward and it's much more accurate than the English title. The drama aims to educate people about mental health and encourages viewers to feel empathy for the people who are suffering and struggling to heal (not always successfully). Because of this, the story is a little clunky at times with early episodes dedicated to different mental health conditions such as panic disorder and bipolar disorder.

But the narrative really takes off in episode 6 when a beloved character takes his own life and the fallout for the entire cast reverberates through to the end of the drama.

Some of the scenes are devastating and had me sobbing. Anyone with a history of mental illness or who has loved ones who suffered should tread cautiously since this drama could be triggering.

Something I thought was very well done were the visual illustrations of people's illnesses. For example there's a person with panic disorder who finds himself drowning in a bathroom filling with water and a depressed character who sinks into the floor as if it's quicksand.

The romance is secondary to the main plot but it's very sweet and affecting, especially in the final episodes.

I definitely recommend this drama with the caveat that you're going to be in for a lot of emotional pain and that it's not an easy watch.

What's not to love??

I am not sure why so many others had such high expectations for this show that it has garnered such dislike. I personally think the show was awesome. Sweet, cute, a bit steamy, but overall a good watch and I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a lighter form of BL entertainment.

I highly agree, the name sees a bit misleading. The danger aspect was not a consistent factor in this series, you really only experienced any danger towards the end but it definitely wasn't KP.

In regards to Chimon and Perth. They are both portraying teenagers, not juniors in college. Why would they suddenly turn act as if they are filming a scene in 50Shades?! The chemistry was evident and both did well portraying clumsy adolescent love. If you want heavy petting and intense make out scenes, no this is not the show for you. If you like coming of age stories/enemies to lovers, this show will be your happy place!

I very much enjoyed watching this series. The writing was done very well and no stone was left unturned. I can't wait to see PerthChimon in their next series.

Love & Redemption

I started watching this drama because of Cheng Yi, I first watched him on MLC.
As an early drama for him, his acting here is quite good, especially his facial expressions, eyes, and body movements.
The whole storyline is enough to make you very annoyed & angry because there are too many misunderstandings & stupid characters.
This drama really drains my feelings, but I like it.
We are swept away in the story of Xuanji & Sifeng who are looking for their true identity, because at first they were both innocent people until finally they could find a lot of love in the world, love for their family, partner and friends.

It's a bit unfortunate that ML's character here is made to suffer so much & actually I've never liked a male character in a drama as a reference for my ideal partner until I saw Yu Sifeng. I really like him T.T
He is very, very kind & sincere towards the people around him even though he has been disappointed many times.

The graphics are outstanding.
One thing that makes it hard for me to forget about this drama is the soundtrack, especially the one entitled 步崖 by 李琦.

Just what I needed

Starting off it’s an absolute watch! I watched the Thai version and had no idea they had made a Korean remake. Absolutely love it btw incase I haven’t made that clear yet lol. My thoughts on the Thai version was that it was crazy long and drawn out. Usually I have beef with kbls and their short ass episodes and time length but I will say it really worked this time around. I liked the second Male lead a lot better but the first male lead couple was also a good choice! There were a lot of times as I was watching one of the male leads and all I could think of was that dude looks crazy similar to Jay from Enhypen lol. I was like hold up *insert skull emoji.” Anyways I haven’t laughed out loud to a drama in general in a hot second so this was such a nice short drama. It’s nothing serious and outstanding but it is like me little baby now hahahaha. I’m also writing this review with little no sleep because I in fact could not go to bed without binge watching it but nevertheless. Yes you should watch it!

Not even Ji Chang Wook can save this

The first part of the movie is actually pretty decent; it’s fast-paced, tense, and you feel bad by Kwon, who is accused of a terrible crime he didn’t commit, and is sent to prison. Once he escapes, though, the movie goes completely off the rails. It's pure action (this is not bad per se, but in this case, it is) with zero character moments (or development) and a moustache-twirling villain. There’s nothing new, exciting or compelling about this, and I won't feel the need to rewatch it anytime soon.

Plot twist… revenge?

Everytime I think I’ve watched every genre of Korean revenge thriller, they make a new and more exciting one.. Namkoong Min is simply phenomenal in this title as the main character. Although I struggled with some of his decisions morally, it was an intriguing and excellently executed drama.

There was never a dull moment with this show. Each character was grandiose, larger than life. It was akin to watching a chess match between two grandmasters, with each twist and turn outdoing the last.

One thing I love about Korean shows is the focus on the character development and plot. Namkoong min as Na I Je had a phenomenal run, going from a sweet doctor, to a cold and calculating morally grey man… but who somehow still made you root for him. Director Sun’s constant backstabbing was a treat.
If anything, one plot line I wish was better handled was Han so-geum and Han Bit’s.

Lee Jae-jun, the big bad was creepy, larger than life and wonderfully acted. He managed to make me feel a wispy sadness and regret for him, all while scaring me with his actions.

All in all, a phenomenal drama.

At the beginning this drama seemed to be a light and silly romance but soon became all pain, tragedy and suffering. Even the happy end doesn't feel so happy. The prodution is low budget, the action scenes are most laughable and the acting is not very good. The protagonists were ok, Ireine Song was the best for me, the poor girl had to cry many liters, I bet she had to drink much water to rehydrate. The ML made a good job as the fool but when he was "normal" he was just like a store mannequin that cries, but he is very beautiful and this compensates any flaws LOL.
7/10 for me.

BEWARE B4 U SPEND 16HRS ON THIS !!!

I am a BIG Lsk fan and so decided to try this out after so many 10/10 reviews. I have very painfully completed the series but there is very little enjoyment I have got out of it. Seeing all these reviews makes me wonder if its just not my cup of tea. But seriously I failed to understand the subtelty of showing everything in slow-mo with the characters wearing a blank face most of the time. They dont talk...they just sigh and look at each other. Are they DUMB? . I understand that things are sad but I feel they dragged this thing too much. The ML and FL might have good chemistry but its not explored at all ......they hardly talk with each other. They just stare at each other and silently walk. I can understand the initial shyness but this just goes on. On top of that they have very little screen time.
" SO THERES NO ROMANCE YOU SAY? The other things are good right? RIGHT? " NO ITS NOT!! ITS WORSE. The story premise about the house is good and innovative but IT GETS DRAGGED ON LIKE HELL . Everything was dragged on tbh. The GF arc , the president shin arc and these were not even that good of a story.
TLDR:-
>> The premise and first couple of episodes are good.
>> Without the slowmo and filler scenes this is hardly a 4 hr drama.
>> I had to skip those silences towards the end cause it was getting tedious
>> The main lead romance is not good at all. (IMO)
>> Theres a lot of camping business BS that i didnt get. Good luck to you.
>> Good for you if you like seeing people walking from A to B and having noodles 100s of times.
>> Good if you can read facial expressions and need no talking. ( I cant ,sorry )
>> Sit with loads of coffee if you wanna stay awake.
>> I am ranting at this point. Have a nice day and I hope you enjoy this drama. I SURE AS HELL DIDNT.

I've watched countless crime series, but this one is the BEST

There're are reviews calling it a mess or too complicated. No, it is not if you use your brain properly. this series has one of the best planned storyline. it does have plots, but it is worth it. Anyone calling it a mess just cannot keep up with this pace, and i think such people need to avoid such stories that just messes up with their head because they cannot seem to understand the storyline which is literally their problem. (In simple terms, THEY ARE JUST TOO DUMB).
** The main character's acting is top-notch. The science approach was well detailed (i'm a biomed student, so yeah i found it intriguing). The suspense, thriller, all of it keeps you on the edge of the seat. As for me, i was able to figure out who the psychopath was because i was into it, and it was not a mess at all. There's sad scenes that can tear you up if you're emotional, and really unexpected turns, but foof, this is the *the* best. After watching this, i haven't been able to find another series that matches the thriller, details, suspense, and overall storyline. I promise you that you will not regret it if you watch it, (also do not forget to get into it- the best part!)

***the only TV drama from South Korea to be nominated for the international Panorama Category at the 11th Annual Series Mania 2021.
Lee-seungi earned the Grand Award (Daesang) for best actor in TV category at the 6th Asia Artist Awards.

Love is sweeter the second time around...

Begin Again has been in my "To Watch" list for a while now but only got to finish it today. Thank goodness I did coz I actually enjoyed it.!

Simon Gong has been excellent in "Word of Honor", so I was excited to see his acting in a modern drama. As expected, he delivered. I am not familiar with the FL but she did great too. They both complement each other plus that adorable kid was so cute it made the story warmer.

I've seen a lot of this contract-marriage trope in Cdramas and more than half of what I have watched has been dropped coz it's cringey, awkward and most of the times, annoying but this drama hits differently. Although the plot may be simple and somehow cliché overloaded with predictable ending, you can enjoy this sweet drama too for its warm romance, good chemistry, acting and with a bonus - a lovable and witty kid who can steal your heart hahaha

The new employee movie flows better than the series

If you've watched the series then you will enjoy this. It's nice to see it all at once and is one of those dramas that works well as a film.

Seung Hyun and Kim Jong Chan are both loveable characters and the actors are well cast. It was lovely to see them again after so long and whilst there have been a number of workplace BLs in 2022/23 this is one of the stronger, more consistent ones. It's well acted and the story works. It's based on a webtoon which was better in my opinion but this is a decent adaptation. This was definitely worth the nearly 2 hours of watch time. It may have been nice to see more on the lesbian support characters.

I've copied the description from Viki for those who aren't sure of the story.

Enjoy!

Chelsea Black

In his late twenties, Seung Hyun (Moon Ji Yong) has yet to settle into what most would consider an “adult” life. Something of a late bloomer, Seung Hyun has had about as much experience in his professional career as he has in his personal life. Which is to say, he hasn’t had much experience in either. But everything changes when he finally manages to land the internship of his dreams.

Excited to be interning at such a successful advertising company, Seung Hyun’s enthusiasm is curbed almost immediately when he runs into an incredibly handsome, yet unbelievably cold man on his first day of work. Thrown off by his encounter with this frigid adonis, Seung Hyun’s first day is a memorable one, to be sure; but becomes even more so when he realizes the man he ran into was none other than his boss, Kim Jong Chan (Kwon Hyuk).

Unable to shake the feelings that stir inside him as he recalls this first encounter, Seung Hyun tries his best to avoid making the same mistake. But it seems no matter how hard he tries, he can’t escape Jong Chan’s presence. As if drawn together by some unseen force, will either of these men be able to avoid the fate that seems determined to bring them together?

Adapted from the webtoon of the same name by Moscareto, “The New Employee” is a 2022 South Korean romance film directed by Kim Jho Kwang Soo.

Unforgettable, unredeemable

If in "My Day The Series" I said Miko Gallardo and his steamy scenes had saved the day, this time they won't, they can't. The director went too crazy overboard by forcing a sequel to My Day that ended up instead with a forgettable, unredeemable movie in My Story.

First, Miko's love (Ace) just disappeared in thin air. And the UNCONVINCING (again!) justification is that their romance didn't work out. What?! After so much effort that was invested in My Day to creating a solid, till-death-do-us-part love life between Sky & Ace the director simply stuffed it out to naught? Incredible!

Second, by forcing a sequel, My Story became an endorser of the inaccurate homophobic notion that no strong bond between same-sex lovers could ever last long. It's a big slap to the LGBTQ+ community to promote such kind of idea.

Third, why didn't the director simply create a new brand of BL series in My Story rather than cover up the disappearance of Ace? (Ken's disappearance was not even given any reason at all.) That should have been acceptable to those who have learned to love the cast of My Day. I put all the blame on the unprofessional hands of the director.

One of the best BL

I started watching it because of my friend going on about the aesthetics. I should thank the Bl angels for leading me to it. A beautiful drama with an unique and amazing storyline although there were some loopholes it can be ignored as it has been covered up by the aesthetics, music and acting. I loved everything starring from the time travel troupe to the Soulmate concept. The only complain I have is the lack of explanation in the last episode of how Yai is there in the current timeline, he just shows up . There’s no explanation how he comes here or is it the Yai of this timeline or Yai from the 90s
