Pure , Raw emotions so well portrayed. DEFFENITLY WORTH IT TO WATCH

I have watched many many kdrama's but by far this is the only one that got to me so deeply , watching this masterpiece was an emotional rollercoaster and i was in for the long ride.
I expected it to drag me into the story as i love the story this is based on but the actors truly outdid themselves this is one if not the best Kdrama i have ever seen.
i'm not one to cry easily specially for a television series but Scarlet Heart Ryeo showed me parts of my soul i didn't know i could access..... as tho it is a tragic ending it is an extremely beautiful story anyone who likes kdrama's or historical drama's should watch.
Let it drag you into the story let your heart open for all the emotions that come with it let yourself cry and feel the raw pure emotions the actors so well portrayed .
RESPECT and GRATITUDE for all the actors and crew involved into making this masterpiece

A surprising show that stole my heart

Fair warning if you come into this drama hoping for some cute mindless romance, you will sorely be disappointed, this is not it, the things our lovers have to overcome to be together is as innumerable as their love for each other. FOMH is part romance, part action, and part slice-of-life

FOMH undoubtedly had a high budget, true that sometimes high budget doesn’t equate to high quality. But not-to-fret FOMH is clearly a beloved child of the PD. It has a high production value, beautiful well thought-off shots and a carefully plotted sequence with a proper build-up. If I have to be picky the transition sometimes can be a bit jarring.

I sped read the novel after I finished the drama. This drama is based on the novel, but the PD & scriptwriter created their own versions of the story and characters. This is a common practice and honestly this time I don’t mind it at all, in my opinion the changes are for the better especially since this is made for television. And frankly many things in the novel will have no chance to pass censorship. The drama kept key lines from the book verbatim and they followed the narrative trajectory closely.

A big part of the drama is about our leads profession as a firefighter and a doctor especially the firefighters team. From their training to their missions, from small dispatched to handle a spider to a high risks missions of disasters rescue and high rise building fire. I can only imagine how hard the conditions were during shooting, I saw some of the bts and they were using real fires. Kudos to all the cast, and crews, your hard work pays off because the actions are top notch.

In FOMH we see people at their worst and we see people at their best in the face of disaster, not everything is black and white in the world of FOMH, for examples when the team rescued a group of students missing in the mountains, their parents were ungrateful and the missing kids also behaved abhorrently. On another memorable case with the bus falling of a cliff accident, the person hailed as a hero for rescuing the passengers turned out to be a con man, this is a recurring theme throughout the show, that people are complicated, humans are not purely evil or purely good. How people should answer for their crime but also we shouldn’t write them off as a person.

Since FOMH is a 40 episodes drama, they didn't skimp. There are a lot of issue that they tackled here, from the training in details, the aftermath of a particularly difficult mission, the trauma. It made me appreciate and respect firefighters and search and rescue team even more.

Besides the main lead the show also introduced us to tons of supporting casts surrounding them, you will get to know and care about their story too.

Last but not least our main characters Song Yan and Xu Qin played by Yang Yang and Wang Churan. First of all whoever decided to cast the two of them together bravo *clap clap*. Visually these two are as beautiful as you can get and the icing on the cake is their chemistry is off the charts. They're the best part of the show for me. Their characters and their relationship are what makes me fall in love with this drama. They're what makes this drama 10/10 for me.

SWEET SALTY AND SOUR

I watched this drama years ago when it first came out I just didn't make a review so ill make one now. I loved this drama to the point where I watched all 16 episodes every day for a week, the main reason why I loved this drama is the romance and the chemistry between the main leads but as much as I love this drama it is quite cringy and not realistic in the way that she can just lift a whole ass car with like one hand however although this drama is cringe it has its dark side that honestly really scared me( yes I do have anxiety and I am extremely paranoid so bare that in mind when I say this). There is Sa and kidnapping in this drama and those scenes are fucking creepy. I would recommend this drama if you want something sweet but creepy but comedic at the same time.

While I make this review I try to be as non basis as possible as the main actress is one of my fav actresses and this drama is extremely nostalgic to me so I will probably feel differently from you but when I first watched this drama I would've 100% rated this a ten but I think as I experience more dramas I have higher expectation anyway uh watch it if you want....

Good Drama but something off

It could have been better

The drama had too much going on and didn't make sense at times. The actors were the selling point of this show to me, Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk's chemistry really made me forget about the inconsistencies at times. The supporting characters are fun to watch too, especially Na Ji Na, Cha Joo Ik and Lee Hyun Kyu. Their romance doesn't follow the usual narrative and that's something I appreciate. Overall though in order to really enjoy it I had to switch off my brain which isn't what I want to be doing.

What to expect from c dramas lol?

First of all I don’t watch Cdrama , cause it’s always silly kiddos , but about hidden love, everyone was taking about it , so I wanted to give it a try but what the heck?? I think the people who are planning to watch it based on it’s rating please don’t waste your time and ruin your mood , the people who are giving rating are 90% Chinese and all kids , it’s a drama for 13,14 years old kids literally, even when I was 14 I didn’t even watch this kinda silly things but its an another Chinese drama with 00 story , female leads acting is 00 ,the male leads acting was good but what’s the use?? The total drama is 00 🤦🏼‍♀️

The Good:
⌲ Yoona is very pretty
⌲ There are no love triangles.
⌲ There is a certain amount of enjoyable fluff.
⌲ The secondary fls and sismance (though it’s not exactly amazing)
⌲ The arab prince thing was amusing enough (I cannot imagine getting butthurt over something like this)
⌲ It’s at least a better drama than ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’.

The Neutral:
⌲ Jun Ho’s acting (I understand why he did not take this very seriously though, I do know he is a talented actor)
⌲ The romance in general (not bad, not great)
⌲ The father (He is bad, but in similar dramas I’ve seen far worse)
⌲ The chemistry between the leads
⌲ Of course it's a clichefest. (though It's not too bad in this regard)

The Bad:
⌲ The plot is just horrible (yes in romcoms it shouldn’t matter, but there are way too many offensive and intelligence insulting things, it’s like a Lakorn)
⌲ The dialog is pretty bad too at times. (and this is a big problem)
⌲ There is a lot of backward crap that is kind of like airing the nation’s dirty laundry, at least in Hollywood as bad as their shows are they are trying to move forward.
⌲ Outside of the leads & their friends almost everyone is a mean bully. (the corporate chain of abuse, see the prev. point)
⌲ The romantic plot itself flows rather strangely & completely falls apart in the final episodes.
⌲ The mother & her reason for leaving her son
⌲ The drama has an incredible amount of bad energy!
⌲ The ML sometimes appears to be mentally challenged, like Dali and the Cocky Prince's ML.
⌲ The fakest smiles you have ever seen
⌲ The older sister (her acts are too juvenile and dumb even for kdrama cheabol-land-u)
⌲ “Double the profits, hit the targets!”
⌲ One long helicopter ride should be something like sub-$10000 in Korea, it’s obviously far cheaper than dealing with the bad press, optics and liability over what happened and they talked about this so forking much.
⌲ .. there are many more things, but I tire of writing this review ..

cruel ending

great acting by female lead and male lead. horrible ending for the male lead and female lead. male lead sacrificed his life for his country but his country wanted him dead, disowned him. for the ending, he was shot to death and the female lead need to endure the pain of losing her mother, brother, father (imprisoned) and her lover. wth writer, went through roller coaster of emotion, anxiousness watching this drama only to find out that the ending was downright disappointing and painful. at least be gentle and make the hero alive? the write basically killed all hopeful leading characters

If u r not into anime than u might like this

So zom100 has an anime too which is still ongoing. And if I compare the anime with this, anime is better. So firstly, the casting is good. They did a good job in finding the cast but the dialogue delivery was a bit weak. So japanese movies and dramas r known for their story more than their acting skills. Acting is still a weak point for japanese entertainment which is getting better slowly. So this movie too had those bad acting moments.
Talking about the story, so as I said the anime is going on too so that is more true to the manga. But the movie is somewhat a vague representation of manga. The movie is not completely based off the manga but only some specific scenes have been taken and patched together. Well I m not saying the movie should have been an exact copy of the manga but I m just pointing out the details.
Next the CG is hilarious 😂 I mean if u have seen some CG japanese movie or live actions u would know how badly it is done. So I would not talk about the CG.

So coming to conclusion, I would say u can watch it but it's just a pass time. U shouldn't be expecting something out of the world story before watching this. Re-watch value is 2, just bcuz I'm being generous.

Overall, a disappointing movie with good cast but bad direction.

Disappointing ending but still worth a watch

I tried to hold back from watching this series until it was fully uploaded on Netflix but it was hard! I ended up finishing the 10th episode with a few days to spare for the last 2 episodes. When I finally watched it I was flummoxed. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Firstly, the story is beautiful. The cast and acting were above par. Shin Hye Sun is a confident actress and really takes to this role like a well-worn shoe. She portrays Ban Ji Eum so comfortably it sets the tone for the rest of the cast to follow her standard and Ahn Bo Hyun really takes to the challenge well. His portrayal of adult Moon Seo Ha is convincingly done. Bo Hyun gets the right mix of innocence and naivety in Seo Ha’s deer-in-headlights reactions to Ji Eum’s assertive advances that hits all the right notes. Veteran actress Cha Chung Hwa, as Ji Eum’s grown-up niece from her 17th life, is a fantastic energy to bounce off Hye Sun. It was great to see these two cast together again after their time in ‘Mr Queen’. I was gratified to see Kim Joon Ho here and even though he only occupied small screen time, he still did the uncle character justice. Hope to see more of this actor as he was memorable from ‘Secret Royal Inspector & Joy’. The actress who was his niece character, Go Do Yeon, was a great pairing against his avuncular intensity, lighting up the screen when the duo had their singing and Accordion playing scene. Go Do Yeon was spectacular and had a great voice. Hope to see more of her talent in future kdramas.

Possibly the only one who fizzed in the whole set was Lee Chae Min, the shaman char. From the moment he comes onto the scene he was a wooden character and in the end episodes his lack of range is especially obvious when cast against Hye Sun’s 1st life char’s rageful scenes. This wasn’t really the reason why I was disappointed by the series though.

I’m not sure why this series only had 12 episodes allocated to it when dramas typically run for 16 eps on average. There were definitely areas that could’ve been fleshed out more. The ending left questions such as how did Ji Eum’s 1st life rage vow/curse affect Han Na, Seo Ha’s mother to make her one of the ones who remember their past lives, like Ji Eum? Why is Kang Min Ki allowed to retain his memories when the others had to relinquish theirs—because it’s his atonement for his ‘sins’? Other stuff like pinning the accident and murder on the uncle was implausible to the extreme as, up to the end, the father was portrayed as the villain, and a believable one. I found it a headspin to see that we’re meant to forgive the father and sympathise with him when his character gets a 180 makeover from a clear villain to a repressed, grieving husband. This characterisation of him is not believable at all. Let’s not forget that he had an affair on his wife with a woman who might’ve poisoned the wife while she was nursing her and subsequently handed over his wife’s precious hotel to the woman to destroy in slow measures by her negligent mismanagement. His interactions with Seo Ha is also mostly filled with angry outbursts that suggests violence is never far behind. All in all, Seo Ha never felt safe with him or in his presence and, as a viewer, were I in Seo Ha’s shoes I wouldn’t either. I was expecting to see that it was his dad who had organised the accident, his mistress who agreed, and his brother who, being the lackey character, obediently carried out his wishes because the violent brother is the alpha male not to be challenged. Based on the setup of the characters and the way the story was going, there was nothing at all to make me believe the uncle could ever have taken this initiative upon himself to do something so harmful even if he had only meant for it to have been an accident. His uncle was very much portrayed as not the brain of the operation but the hand. So a big letdown for the way this was done as it’s obvious the writers just decided to BS this story arc just as they BS'd the fact that Cho Won really likes Do Yoon instead of Seo Ha, even tho all signs pointed to her liking Seo Ha, because it was more convenient than trying to figure out how to solve this rivalry between the sisters.

Finally, the way the “curse” was explained felt like such a cheat. Ji Eum herself set this in motion? Really? That’s the best they could come up with? All she did was clutch onto the bells while she said she was pissed and wanted to be eternally pissed at the shaman dude… that’s it. No ceremony. No ritual. In fact, the fact that the shaman had to cut off one of the ribbons from the bells made it seem like that should’ve arrested the curse in the first place because something was broken and he was the shaman. As a viewer, while the whole explanation was very holistic and philosophical the implementation could’ve been more, I don’t know, “oomphy”. Why did her curse work? Did she have gifts in this shamanic field too? Is she a bloodline to something special? Is she part of a group that is susceptible to these types of reincarnations, like Han Na? Basically, in lieu of rituals and incantations, why did her words work? Perhaps she needs to be special and chosen before being the designated dyer and preparer of the shamanic bells’ sacred ribbons. The fact that, for the time and era, she could think of something so adverse to the cultural conditioning and question the validity of their shamanic theocracy shows there’s something exceedingly unique about her. All these perhaps that could’ve been fleshed out way more and maybe even spill into a sequel or season 2 that could’ve rivalled Alchemy & Souls! GAH! Wasted chance!

It's a mixed feelings review but the 5 stars is for the fact that it’s nice to see a reincarnations themed storyline that doesn’t just focus on eros love between lovers. The storge, familial love between Ae Kyung and her uncle was just as relevant and heartwarming, and was the one that really saves Ji Eum in her 19th incarnation! If not for 17th life story, this series would’ve gotten a 1 star for the underwhelming way it was all written.

I would still rewatch this show because the acting was superb but the way the storyline ended was underwhelming and disappointing to the max. It is likely I’d stop watching at ep 10, tbh. However, for those who haven’t seen this show b4… well, oops for the spoilers but hey, u’ve been warned!... I do wholeheartedly recommend giving this show a looksee simply because it is quite a beautiful story. The music is on point throughout and Ahn Bo Hyun’s deer-in-the-headlights acting is cute AF. The adorbs Go Do Yeon is DEFINITELY worth a watch. I’d watch it again just to see her sing and dance alongside her uncle char.

overrated

This drama got a lot of attention and top ranking positions from various comparing sites, so I expected a lot more form it as it actually has.

The acting is very good, the chosen pieces for the soundtrack are excellent and refreshing (almost only parts of classical music).
The team had for sure classical music counseling, because many scenes concerning the actual play in orchestra are very carefully conceived and filmed. However, the leaders of the team for sure ignored these counsels several times. For the sake of some (arguably) unnecessarily tension creation they made such terrible decisions! Several situations and scenes in the first half of the drama are such ridiculously wrong! Even a person having nothing in common with a classical orchestra can easily realize that that situations/decisions are strangely far of any conceivable reality. There were so bad moments that I was several time on the point of stopping watching the next episode. However, during the second part, these moments became sparser.

Again, only due to the great acting and good human qualities this drama is an enjoyable one.
However, there is no depth and practically no difference in value to an easy going summer drama.
So, if you do not expect much, this might be about 99% worth the time watching it.

enjoyable most of the time

An excellent drama, despite being a bit outdated and definitely too long.
Its major flaw, i'd say, its the crazy ending... since everything starts on a comedy note, how come it turns into a melodrama and finally becomes a tragedy? It doesnt add up to me. One VERY interesting thing is how the dark characters mix in the story with the humorous ones - the ML and his father are totally dark, while the FL and ppl on her side are sunny. Good job!
Cinematography is solid, a lot of nice details and good dialogues, also acting is very nuanced. The actors are particularly handsome and relatable - except for the nonsense "we cant be together though we are both single, mature and crazy in love". Even supporting cast is memorable...
Nice watch if you have time - or put the skip button to use.

It's a big mess! A disappointment!

As a fan of the original webtoon, I'm so disappointed with this adaptation. It's totally messed up! A lot of changes just don't make any sense. It's just full of cliché, tropes and dumb plot holes. I just couldn't stand them.

I got so mad how they even changed Ji Eum's first life. I really love the sibling interactions between Ji Eum and Do Yun in the webtoon and I really hoped they at least kept their past together, it would be so much fun, but it didn't happen. :(

Eventhough I really adore Ahn Bo Hyun and Shin Hye Sun, they are not Seoha and Ji Eum in my mind and I didn't see any chemistry between them at all. It's not because of their acting. They are great actors and actresses, but they just don't fit the characters. Seoha and Ji Eum are much more badass in the webtoon. And also, Shin Hye Sun is 10 years older than Ji Eum, a 23-year-old woman. That makes even less suitable for the role.

I just finished the drama just for the cast only. They did a great job in a bad drama.

Now I'm worried for another webtoon adaptation from the same author: It's a good day to be a dog. I really want to see it with the live-action version, and I also love the cast. But I lost hope after finishing this series.

Pretty nice after watching a serious drama.

An idol movie ^^
Yang Yang!! xD

His adolescent character showcases his best performance :)
Otherwise, Yang is often posing : the bright smile / the frown (fault of the director I say!).

Lovely actors from Yang's career are here:
> actor Wang Yan Lin really shines here as the 2nd trainer of the fire squad. He had a role in You are my glory although I did not remember him.
> zesty Hu Ke from You are my glory (similar character)
> attractive actor Vin Zhang who played a hacker in the unique Love 020

Very happy to enjoy Zhang Yue's acting again in a role suited for her expressive face. I discovered her in the passionate drama Love like the galaxy (she played the bold Qi Qi).

There are many loves in here.
Faces are mostly emotionless though : most characters are repressed.

I do not understand why the male lead is attracted to the female lead but hey, does it matter? Lucky woman!
An important information is not told to the female lead and that bugged me (many long episodes but no room for it?).

As in the drama You are my glory:
Yang Yang, the national actor, is serving propaganda for state institutions (hospital / fire squad).
Glorification is dangerous. No civil servant should be trusted blindly.
Unlike in real life, the men are better than the women in this series ^^
It is a bit too much. Pop culture enforces the lies of patriarchy, consumerism, business as usual, etc.
...No politics as usual. Shouldn't we close down the mines as well as training professionals to help out in case of hurricanes?

PS: I cannot get used to how table-white the female is made to look > my cultural bias.
