So here we have a script traveler! you know the ones that jump into games instead of time travel!

Regarding the cast, they are not bad. The acting is okay.
ML is handsome, FL is pretty and although I couldn't get used to her make up, it's not distracting.
Romance was a bit too rushed, Although the leads had okay chemistry. I wish they spent more time more like a couple!!

The story is nothing special, filled with as much cliche as they could shove in 24 episodes.
There are some cringe scenes but not on annoying level.
Some parts of drama became boring for me so I skipped bits and pieces in some episodes in order to finish it.

Here is a list of what we have here:
-hidden identity
-okay chemistry
-solving murder cases
-some palace stuff
-not dumb FL (I don't categorize her as smart tbh)
-Evil third wheel

Regarding the ending;
It wasn't satisfying for me!
I'm still waiting for the day that the filmmakers realize entering game/script doesn't equal time travel. (I had the same issue with another short drama! was hoping it will be different, but shame this was even worse.) hence I will not re-watch.

Overall it's an okay watch for passing time. You might enjoy watching this drama if you don't take it too seriously and ignore the not so good dubbing in some scenes.

Realistic love story

I usually hate unhappy endings, but honestly this was really worth the watch.
The warmth, the fuzzy feeling of falling in love for the first time.
Not all love stories end up happily, and that’s just reality.
Especially since this story is based in the 90s, where it is quite difficult to contact another person, let alone someone who lives in a whole other country. It’s really a whole different experience compared to nowadays, where we can contact our loved ones pretty much instantaneously.
Honestly, this is a much better ending than dramas nowadays where the couple end up together miraculously and happily because they’re main leads.

A MASTERPIECE

The first half or the Season 1 of LYF has ended and god knows when will the other half be released.
The last drama historical drama that I loved was love like the Galaxy after that I'm extremely In Love With This drama.
Whether you talk about the Main Plot, Character Story, OSTs Action scene or CGI is everything just remarkable
As for me 1st episode was a bit boring but provided the background story of the main leads and from the 2nd episode onward the drama started to get quite interesting and slowly it captive me and left me wanting more and more... Sadly it has ended... waiting for S2.
Reverse harem is one of my favourite genres if done right and here all the boys are very well-versed in their field, Everyone has picked a side of their favourite ML but whoever I pick I always feel bad for others, we only have 1 Xiaoyao how am I supposed to divide her into 3 boys TT TT
.
Yang Zi as Xiaoyao & Wen Xiaoliu: She has always been an amazing actress but the way she has played these 2 characters I don't think anyone else could have, She has given heart and soul to her both characters. As Wen XiaoLiu; she immersed herself into a perfect middle-aged man (and I can never forget her walk as WXL) and the transformation of her 2 characters was very good even though she turned into a girl she still had that little boyishness in her.
Xiaoyao; an identity she had left many years ago due to abandonment by her mother & father. She lived her life for herself and was always cautious of her surroundings and never relied on others, and the only life she ever wanted was to be with someone whose first choice will always be her, someone who will never abandon her.
.
Wan Yi as Cang Xuan: WANYI, it's the first time I have seen him Act and I'm too Impressed cause his character Cang Xuan has suffered so much in past and lost every person dear to him, all these scars have left him with great ambition to conquer the world and get a life where he can protect his younger sister (cousin sister) the only family he has left. To me, his character is too pitiful and yet at the same time he is an exploiter using his scheming mind to make good use of every person around him.
I sympathise with him to the point then I'm like no boy don't do this you will regret it. eg; Jing has been helping him with so many things behind the curtain and still I feel he is ungrateful to him, I know Xiaoyao means the world to him yet when he wants he asks her to go meet with Jing and Fenglong, then become possessive of her being to close to them, if only he could let go of his ambition them he could have been the one she loved but sadly he didn't. Wanyi, he showed all these emotions so brilliantly that I love him as much as I hate him. :(
.
Deng Wei as Ye ShiQi & Tushan Jing: Jing Met Xiaoyao at the time when he was going through the same things which Xiaoyao went through Years ago or maybe worse, he was extremely tortured, humiliated and then kicked out by his brother. Jing was near death when Xiaoyao picked him and gave him a new life and purpose as Shiqi. Although he once was a famous Tushan family heir, Now all he wanted was to accompany the person who gave him a 2nd chance at life.
He desired to be with Xiaoyao because he knew fame glory wealth is of no use if you can't be with one person you love.
Dengwei whether as jing or as shiqi was always pleasing to the eyes and ears (although his voice was dubbed :P). Despite his suffering, he remained a kind-hearted gentleman and the person Xiaoyao loved because for him Xiaoyao is always no.1, he would rather than live without her. TT TT
.
Jian Ci as Xiangliu & Fang Feng Bei: Before this, I knew Jiaci as a singer and Funny Tan'ge in variety shows, seeing him act for the first time I was star struck, Xiang Liu from the start was a difficult character to play, and he perfectly played that cold nine-headed demon Aura (Superb Acting). Despite all of his actions I love him to the core and is my favourite character from the series. He played 2 different characters which showed his dynamic acting skill as well as those actions as General XiangLiu (just WOW), I think if only he showed A Little more interest in XiaoYao or Expressed His Feeling in a Better Way H could end up with her, but that's what his personality/character is all about being a *silent lover*. I read a comment where someone expressed he should have a maid beside him who could express his sacrifice and feelings to Xiaoyao but sadly there was no one to do so... Xiaoyao always saw them being just a Business, him using her for blood or helping her in exchange of something :(...
.
bonus; The writer has always shown the "What could have been" perspective of the drama by giving the main characters an alter ego:
Xiao Yao and Wen XiaoLiu
Cang Xuan and Xuan
Tushan Jing and Ye Shiqi
Xiang Liu and Fang Feng Bei
.
Yangzi And her chemistry with all Her Co-star 10/10
All the actor played their character so well that their emotions and their dialogue delivery are top class 10/10
I bet whoever is gonna watch it is going to love the drama. INDEED A MASTERPIECE
soo much excited for season 2, hope it airs soon or ill die of curiosity... TT TT TT TT

I lose

English isn't my first language, pardon me

I'm a person who's hard to bound to the feelings; esp love.

everything is fine. the whole episodes, the atmosphere, the vibe setting, are bearable to me, the mood is up and down like a graph (more like star positions in the constellation)

the angstiest story of Yingyuan's life and responsibilities, and his love conflict with Yandan. they were bound to their fate. they sacrifice to eachother secretly to finally work together as a team.

ep59, when Yingyuan lost control, he realised the responsibility he must bear to protect Yandan and the 3 realm. later Yandan said about their promise, "till death do us part". this scene that finally, makes me cry. sometimes, life is supposed to be "BE" indeed.

Romance 10/10
Story 10/10
Characters 10/10

this is a kind of story that if you love it 10/10 and if you don't then it is a disappointement. I really loved this series. The story will always keep you at the edge of your seat. The romance is so cute that you can't help but fall in love with it.

I loved it from the bottom of my heart. It is a perfect blend of comedy, suspense, romance, thriller and killer leads

Amazing but shall I rewatch it?

I really liked this series the character development was good. The charectors were great and cute. The story was really well developed and it was like that for me the episodes were flowing like water. I was a little disappointed by the end though like they should have gotten more screen time together.

I guess the writer was confused in the end too that how should I end it because the end really was confusing.
Did he die? Did he not die? How come the touch make her see him? Making less sense

But overall it was amazing the episodes flowing like water I am watching and then I am like huh where did my 3hrs go?? Though it is termed a romance but the romance was not shown that much main focus was on the character development

It is a great one time watch not sure if I am gonna re-watch it

Twisted a Serious Medical Condition...

To accept this series, you have to buy into its core belief or concept. This core belief was a functionally based condition that I simply could not wrap my head around either logically or scientifically. Apparently, for some individuals with ‘sudden sensorineural hearing loss’ when it rained, you lost your ability to hear but could still communicate and hear your ‘soulmate’. While I am all for ‘poetic license’, this was carrying something real so farfetched that it simply is not believable whatsoever. Even if it were remotely possible as a medical condition, you would not suddenly develop it nor suddenly lose it as the series implies. I am all for ‘fantasy’ but this one I had a hard time wrapping my head around. Even as a good story. And therefore, I could not. So, I stopped trying.
The true issue here is the lack of communication, not some misused medical condition that sounds fanciful. Not a particularly good or interesting series except for the character of Lomfon.

Wasted Potential

The initial story started out cute. The leads never failed with their tried and tested chemistry. While there were some scenes that seemed a bit cheesy and over the top, it was still fun to watch. But... towards the latter episodes it became dragging. There seemed little to no growth with the main characters and the antagonist was so obvious from the beginning that the whole story just ended up cringey. Honestly, this series had so much potential. Honestly, I think 'Starlight' was the only saving grace of this drama. His role portrayal was top notch.

Best BL since long

Honest portrayal by all actors of conflicting feelings in a recomposed family … and what a portrayal !!

Best BL I’ve seen since long, not because of what it shows, but just because of what it doesn’t show.

The chemistry between the 2 main characters is obvious, but the “wisdom” of their little sisters is just to blow you away … amazing actors … all of them.

Some may say that 24 EP is too long … and indeed some of the plots where unnessacary but certainly not annoying.

The only “negative” point I have : I want to know how their story continues !!!!

the story is so good and enjoy while watching

as far as i watched on ep 10 both anran and yanyue teach life, if you break up don't drag on and live life further. Yanyue has a soft and kind heart, so far the story is very exciting. can be found in real life, very relatable. their acting is very good, not even just the main lead, the co main is also good. when they are angry happy conveyed to the audience. i watched them, it didn't feel like they were all over, i really looked forward to the continuation of the episode. i watched this by chance because I like dramas where girls are cool and independent women. very motivating.

GOD WHAT DID I JUST WATCH???

L's is so over-acting every scene. He's just using his own face to compensate hus bad acting skills which doesn't work for me.

Bad male kead choice could've been better if it's played with other actor

One thing I hated about it is the childhood troupe, could've been the other way around. I get that's it is fantasy, can't you just write his childhood background without involving the love interest's?

This drama doesn't really works for my taste so cringe-worthy. I loved the 'My love from the star' vibes it gives off but this is so detrimental.

Don't like it periodt

Down in the Dumps

As a romcom and fantasy lover I was disappointed
Like It's not bad but It's definitely overhyped maybe because the lead characters were played by two popular actors.

I always prefer rich female character but this female lead just ain't it. I can like bratty character.

But She's loud and dramatic for no reason. And her famous rap scene is just a headache. I don’t usually dislike female characters but She's just not my type at all.

People wants to declare just anything as Classic so bad.

A delightful story about making peace with the hand that has been dealt + some detective drama

When you have a show that treats its supporting characters with dignity, respect and decent characterization, you know you got a good show in your hands.

Mysterious lotus casebook does this pretty well - not always, but the smaller characters when come for a 2-3 episode arc, do get enough plot to be impactful in that arc. There are some moments, characterizations, arcs that stood out for me, personally. I don't care much about music, CGI, fight choreography or even production quality. As long as there is good story, good acting and chemistry between the leads.

1. Director Di / A-Fei - He wants to beat LLH honestly and honorably. Even though LLH has extreme poison coursing through him, A-Fei wants to fix him, make him better so that one day they can finish the fight they started a decade ago. He goes to great lengths to get elixirs, potions, herbs, syrups - just for the cause. The eventual friendship is just a byproduct. A great enemies to friends trope.

2. FDB's mom - She took me by surprise. She really kicks ass in final arc, holds respect, and is quite honest with her son about his past. The entire family share a loving relationship and its clear why FDB is the way he is - he has great parents who have loved him unconditionally and have provided for him. The revelation has no impact on her relationship with her son and it continues the way it always has been. She is a great ally for LLH and FDB when in trouble.

3. A-Mian - She could have been easily brushed off as the "love interest". I am however mildly disappointed that she didn't get more exposure because she basically calls her fiancée on his bullshit multiple times. At one time calls him jealous and petty for holding a grudge where the involved parties have moved past.

4. The Villain - (Keeping it vague cause spoilers) This show takes various levels of pettiness, jealousy, anger at others, childhood traumas, childhood in general and builds adult behavior on their experiences. While FDB is easy going and is a bit gullible, A-Fei is the exact opposite with his persona. LLH is a great balance - perfect on paper but quite flawed in his execution as a young sect leader. LLH knows a lot of things and it can seem like its a plot-blessing however LLH ends up explaining (in most cases) how he came about the information.

5. Saintess (IDK, its a weird title) - I wanted to see a much prolonged battle between her and A-Fei. She has been a driving force for the opposite side for majority of the series and its a bit disappointing that it ended the way it did. She was a great antagonist, a good strategist and probably never guessed that friendships would be formed along the way.

6. The cases - Once you realize they are all connected and its one big story, especially when things start to fall in place, the whole drama becomes more fun. There is personal growth for the characters themselves, they grow as people and see the world a little differently; LLH is little less lonely, FDB grows to be stronger in martial arts, A-Fei re-evaluates his methods, and adjusts to the changed world. The camaraderie is the biggest take away - the people they meet, forge new friendships, expose corruption and evil, and get a little closer to the truth.

7. FDB-LLH friendship - It would be so easy for FDB to go through a misunderstanding arc and harbor angst. Even when it happens it lasts for a hot minute. He ends up talking to LLH, and though LLH doesn't tell him everything immediately, FDB accepts it, makes peace with it and fights him when he is hurt. It happens, they acknowledge, they finish the fight, and move on. Its surprisingly refreshing to see this.

8. LLH-A-Fei friendship - It starts as antagonism and not being in martial world has given LLH a different perspective on life. Its obvious A-Fei still has ambition and at the start its seen that LLH and him are enemies. Its a slow road to being friends, to be trusted and A-Fei realizing that LLH was probably his only equal - in terms of trust and respect. Its a beautiful journey.

9. Li Lian Hua - The entire show works because Cheng Yi has chemistry with everyone. He mumbles the way an exhausted man in his place would, respond carelessly knowing he has 0 chance to win a fight and has glib answers when he has half baked plan to escape whatever predicament he is in. As the series progresses, it becomes blatantly clear that we have to make peace with him disappearing from Jiang Hu again. Its impossible to not feel sad at the ending but this was coming. This was coming from the very first episode but it's still heartbreaking.

The ending was spot on, and LLH became one of my favorite characters in Chinese dramas.

Loose Cannon!?

First of all,The only good aspect of this drama are the main leads and their excessive lavish set. But even they couldn’t save this drama. This drama is compared with two famous kdramas Apparently they have the same storyline This is what people says but I don’t agree. I usually like kdrama clichés. But this drama is just not IT. Supporting characters are not that much entertaining. FL's friend with her junior looked so mismatched. The other friend stayed with her jerk husband. And the way they made fun of Sangsik's look even in the last episode to create a funny sequence which was not funny at all. And the family cliché which was not bizarre. This drama was good in some point but didn’t deserve the hype they got.

Beautiful Romance Drama. Perfection.

The Male Lead of the show was good with great character development with his brother and the people around him, he was enjoyable to watch, a silent character done well that has a great personality. The Female Lead was also a great character and very enjoyable to watch with her bubbly character and outgoing personality. The supporting cast was also incredibly good the main group consisting of 5 splendid characters each with their own issues and upbringings. The Grandma of this show added emotion to this show and added a lot of real-life situations. The parents of Gu Ran also added a feel of what it feels like to not have parents at home all the time due to them being busy but also having an understanding of that and still loving them. The show's pacing was incredibly good and while most dramas have terrible pacing these days these show episodes always leave you wonderfully joyful as each episode is incredibly great and moves the drama forward. The show also isn't as long as other C Dramas as it's only 24 episodes and each one is 30 minutes long. Although it isn't very long it perfectly fulfills what the show needs to be in terms of length.

Some additional but extremely great highlights of the show were the production. The OST was very memorable and noticeable, typically when I watch dramas the OSTs aren't something I really remember after the show except for a few exceptions but this one was very memorable. The Camera features one of my favorites as it added a lot of depth to this show it has the pictures saying Cam and the sound getting worse to signify that it's a camera recording making it genuinely feel like it was a camera recording of the characters and was one of my favorite features of the show. Sadly they removed it towards the end of the show but it was most likely because they were now out of college which is understandable. Nonetheless, it's these small features that add a new layer to the show and I think this is a great watch.

Overall this is one of the best dramas I've ever watched due to the depth, production, story, characters, character development, pacing, and minor details that add a lot to the story. Definitely a 10/10. I 100% would recommend it. This year has been really great for Chinese Dramas it seems.
