light and fun BL

I wasn’t sure at first, but this BL surprised me. I’ve already watched a few bl with offgun, so I know this pairing and their chemistry. Also it was a comedy relief when it was airing at first with the other more depressing BL airing at the same time.

I love the friendships and the relationships. Green flags/supportive boyfriends and healthy relationships. No break up also. I also enjoyed the cooking aspect.

Love grandma and samsee’s parents. Fire and Ten parents had development. Ten’s father could be an ass, but he wasn’t a bad guy. He didn’t mind that his son was gay, he didn’t want him to suffer and him being used and in the end, wanted him to be happy. The step mom was weird and annoying.

Prem’s sister and Samsee being in a relationship was a cute surprise, even if I still ship him with grey hair guy (forget his name for a sec ahah), their bickering and dynamic was hilarious. That would have made an interesting enemies to lovers, but in the end friendship, it’s okay.

I liked the comedy and not many problems or drama. Good kissing scenes from her main couple. I also absolutely love Fire and Dynamite. Their dynamic interested me from the beginning. I liked the development when Fire realized that he liked him. Also a cute relationship.

Happy end perfect ending.

Waiting for the next OffGun drama. Also, get Neo a leading role and his own BL, he deserves it. I’ve seen many BL with him as the side character or the second couple. I really like his acting.

KOREAN ARROGANCE AT ITS BEST

The only valuable thing ( rarely achieved in Korea cultural thief dramas) is the representation of the Ming armor, mostly accurate that the news was even spread on Chinese medias.

But it's the really the 1 only thing valuable.
Historical inaccuracy both in historical fact and depiction of the reality. Japanese are depicted as cowards, and Chinese are greedy and arrogant. I should mention even the problem in speaking in Japanese and Chinese ( a student can speak way better). "Lao Ye" in a non-confidential relationship is unbearable to listen, and the depiction of a modified relationship from mutual respect to contrast is too stupid.
The big problem is that the depiction is like Korean army pretend to be able to defeat Japanese army on their own, in a showing act of supreme arrogance while it was them to ask for help to the Great Ming Empire, their sangguk, their master and owner.

The whole drama diminishes and degrades Yi Sun's sacrifice because Korea is too arrogant in their own depiction.
A show completely to miss, because it only show arrogance.
But don't be surprised, don't you know Korea created the whole world, as they themselves are convinced?

amazing acting and a good action movie

the acting was amazing from the ML to the child. The child actress surprised me. I love the action and fighting sequences. Be aware, a lot of blood. Man was bad ass.

It’s a lot of blood and fights, but also a lot of emotional scenes.
- Like before she was kidnapped, when she was talking the him in the alley, about her mom and other things. My eyes got teary.
- Also, when we saw the accident of his wife death, that was so heartbreaking. It was horrible when we saw the blood running out the car…. Also,
- when the doctor said her mom was dead, the villain face said everything. His eyes were expressive, I just knew he wouldn’t let the doctor cut her eyes out. ML face was also heartbreaking when he thought she was dead.
- their reunion ❤️??
- the ending scene, I was cry so bad.

I absolutely love the bond between him and the child

The mom’s death and the poor kids, that was hard to watch too.

Overall I think it’s a great movie. Good acting, fighting scenes and still really emotional

I recommend this movie

It was fun but could've been so much more

The production values were incredible and especially impressive for a Thai series, the leads were all eye candy and some of them could actually act (especially Paper, Almond, Chanel and Bovy), some of the games were fun. But there were so many missed opportunities to make this show deeper and more interesting.

The premise is that most of the men in the world die off and the ones who remain become a commodity to exploit. What happens when men are out of the way and women are the ruling class - are they really interested in solving the problem of male births or do they actively suppress knowledge that would fix the birthrate in order to secure their power? How are the men treated in the marriages, is it similar to how women are treated in patriarchal societies where they are abused and have no freedom? What is it like when men are forced to breed (this is kinda sorta touched on with Paper but the full implications of that aren't explored).

Don't get me wrong, this show is a very fun binge and I enjoyed it, just felt let down when I saw the potential it had to be so much more.

This drama is surprisingly good, but…

I thought I would watch it for a while before writing a review as it started out pretty good, but as most dramas shown on TVB get worse later after a good start, I was hesitant to post an early opinion on this. However, I did not need to be concerned as this drama kicks all kinds of butt!

Vincent Wong stars as the Song Sai Kit, the incredibly intelligent, hilarious and sometimes lecherous lawyer. He had the potential to become a government official but gave up when he noticed how officials just bullied people, instead swapping his exam paper with a future ally played by Lam Chi Chung. Many do not know who Lam Chi Chung is until you say “oh you know, that fat guy who was in Stephen Chow’s last few movies” and immediately people go “oooh!!” Lam Chi Chung is also the director of this drama, and you can see some of the Stephen Chow influences in this drama for sure, but I believe this is fine because he was able to work with such a legend.

We follow Vincent around as he makes a name for himself slowly becoming known as the greatest lawyer or “King of Lawyers” for his righteous deeds, albeit not always his original intention for doing so. Watching the main characters do some cross dressing and getting into mischief was all very entertaining to watch. Elaine Yiu plays Ling Lung, Vincent’s wife in the drama and she does an amazing job in portraying the simple-minded and naive nature of the character, along with her great knowledge of martial arts. The chemistry between her and Vincent is okay, nothing amazing but it represents their relationship early in the drama accurately as Vincent initially wanted a divorce as he was forced into the marriage.

What spurred me to write this review was the recent case that just wrapped up in episode 14 and had me laughing my butt off. Vincent decides to spread his name around China so travels with his wife and buddies to a neighbouring town. In this town, there is a disgusting villain who cons people into digging up coal under the pretence of digging up gold, making them sign contracts that essentially prevent them leaving early. When these people discover it’s coal and not gold so want to leave, they get beaten half to death and cannot go since the contracts prevent them anyway. This villain was named Wong Ho Shun, basically Vincent Wong actual Chinese name. Vincent essentially spends a few episodes calling himself a disgusting asshole and every other curse from the period, which is hilarious if you’re in on the joke. Later when under a disguise, he is asked what his name was so he gave a false name Cheung Chun-long, which is Owen Cheung’s real name and an actor he worked with on several TVB dramas. That was a great meta joke and you need to be a fan of TVB dramas to really get it but I loved it.

The weakest parts of the drama come from two places: Ada Wong and the dubbing. Ignoring that Ada Wong is Wong Jing’s daughter (yes, THAT Wong Jing), here she only has one mode: angry uncivilised girl. She just growls and screams all her lines so there is nothing really compelling about her character, she’s just there to be the love interest to Ah Kau, played by King Kong Lee, but at least it isn’t too offensive so I can ignore it. Also, the dubbing can be quite jarring. Luckily the lipsync is very good but you can tell when a section was dubbed over because of how the audio changes and feels off. I understand that some lines need to be dubbed due to poor audio at the time of recording, but as I always say, just get a better boom mic.

So far this is great. This drama only had 18 episodes so we have 4 left and haven’t seen Benny Chan yet, so I am guessing the final 4 episodes will involve him somehow. Man, I am not a fan of Benny Chan as his acting is literally just him shouting a lot, but we’ll see how it goes. Maybe Lam Chi Chung flexed his director muscle/fat and reined in Benny’s anger acting? We can only wait and see.

Update: dammit, the final case gave me huge mixed emotions. The last case is really the most complex and the stakes are high. We really see the main cast acting serious, it is great to see Vincent Wong and Elaine Yiu finally using their dramatic acting skills finally as the entire drama up until then had been very lighthearted. However, the screenwriter messes this all up.

We see Ada Wong get drugged and violently raped by a British Envoy. She is found by King Kong Lee and taken to safety. Up until then I found Ada really annoying but after that scene and seeing her reaction later as she had to deal with the trauma of what happened to her and finding out that Vincent was going to defend that British Envoy, I felt she had improved and was going to accept her character. But not a few episodes later, after a week of so had passed in the drama, she appeared to back to normal and completely fine! No PTSD? No fear of going out alone at night? She recovered remarkably quickly as if rape was such an easy thing to get over. Wtf?

What I also found ridiculous was Ling Long’s secret back story. Vincent divorces her so that in the event he messes up the case with the British guy that he would not get her killed as well, but just as assassins come to kill Vincent due to him deciding to turn against the British guy, Ling Long suddenly appears and fights them all off. Now this scene alone was really dumb because in the entire fight Ling Long is outnumbered by 20 people or more, and yet the assassins all target her when she appears and nobody thinks “oh hey while she is busy let’s chop Sung Sai Kit in half” as nobody pays him any attention. In any case, they manage to escape and we find out Ling Long was a member of the Little Dagger Clan that helped people, and that clan decided that Vincent was worth protecting as he looked like he could also help people. So how do they decide to protect him. Let Ling Long marry him. What? So you’re telling me Ling Long, who was working at a brothel when they first met, suddenly decided at that time Vincent was worth protecting and became his wife? This is not elaborated on at all, when did the clan decide he was worth protecting? How did they know he would not be a selfish money grabbing bastard? Nothing is explained!

And finally we get to Benny Chan as Chan Mong Gat, who finally appears in the last 2 episodes. The guy has not changed at all, his acting is just him shouting loudly and being obnoxious. There is not subtlety at all to his acting method, so I was glad he only appeared very briefly, but it was so brief that I do not think he was worth adding to the main poster of the drama. Why put him in there?

Despite those issues, overall this is a good drama. The crap dragged the score from a 9 to a 7 because it felt rushed and sensitive topics were not approached tactfully. It felt like this needed to be 20 episodes and not 18, but hey I didn’t decide on the episode count. The drama ends on a cliffhanger so we may get a season 2, hopefully season 2 has more episodes and handles it’s sensitive topics more carefully.

A Historical Marvel Fueled by Explosive Chemistry

Knight Flower isn't just a drama; it's a mesmerizing journey that has left an indelible mark on my heart. Each character, no matter how fleeting their appearance, was a revelation, adding layers of depth and nuance to an already rich tapestry.

From the passing poor citizen who graced the screen for mere moments to the seemingly insignificant characters who proved to be pivotal to the plot, every individual was a masterstroke of storytelling. The gray characters, neither wholly good nor evil, added a complexity that kept me enthralled, while the villain's cunning schemes held me in awe of their sheer malevolence.

What truly astounds me is the unexpected success Knight Flower has achieved. Surpassing even the most esteemed dramas of its time slot, this drama has defied expectations and set a new standard for excellence. Its rise to the top is a testament to its quality and the fervor of its audience. The scriptwriting was a stroke of genius, seamlessly weaving together intricate plotlines and witty dialogue that kept me on the edge of my seat. And the direction and choice of OSTs added an extra layer of depth and emotion that elevated the drama to new heights.

And then there are the performances. The lead actor, in his first major role as the sole male lead, delivered a tour de force performance that was both powerful and nuanced. His magnetic presence kept me glued to the screen, hanging on his every word and gesture. And the leading lady, a modern-day incarnation of the multitalented Honey Lee, brought a strength and charisma to her role that was truly awe-inspiring. With every scene, she commanded the screen, effortlessly capturing the essence of her character and leaving me breathless in her wake. What truly set Knight Flower ablaze was the explosive chemistry between the leads. The screen practically crackled with electricity every time they shared a scene, leaving me breathless with anticipation for their next encounter. And how tender and understanding they were towards each other... And it wasn't just the main couple; even the side couples were a perfect match, their relationships unexpected yet utterly captivating.

Knight Flower has cemented its place as a true masterpiece of a genre that can't be just put into a box for being either a historical, political, romance, or comedy per se but a bit of it all and the best of it all. It's a testament to the talent and dedication of everyone involved and a shining example of what can be achieved when passion and creativity collide.

I don't think I can ever be satisfied with finishing this review because I don't know if words can encapsulate how good this drama has been from the first minute to the last. And also how hilarious the drama is! it's the kind of show that brightens your day or week, leaving you unable to wipe the smile off your face due to the sheer cuteness and perfection of the deliveries.

Fluffy well-paced light romance period drama

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
For somebody who absolutely can’t stand dragged out misunderstandings between the lead couple, this drama is really IT for me. Well-paced with light schemes and misunderstandings resolved within 1 episode and deep trust among the couples and friends kept me going.

Synopsis:
The FL was brought into her own novel and took the identity of Hua Qing Ge who was to become the consort to the third prince. Being the writer of her own novel, she knew this character would be killed by her own husband hence she escaped on the night of her wedding and was saved by her cousin who is the first prince and heir to the throne. Through a series of events, the FL eventually managed to “change” the ML for the better and her novel started to develop new stories she wasn’t aware of. It was also revealed that the empress was the greatest mastermind of them all.

My thoughts:
I felt that they casted the ML well. He was able to portray a slightly sinister appearance which had a hint of playfulness as well- which was his character in this show. While he appears to be cold, he is actually one who cares about his loved ones and would protect them. Felt the FL was a mismatch to him but overall still ok, after all it’s really just a light fluffy drama. No overly complicated schemes or plots, pretty straight forward. The costumes of the males in the drama looked really nice though. For some reason, the ladies had rather mediocre outfits. Lol

Overall, if you’ve some time to kill between those A-list dramas, this is one you can definitely catch. Something light and fast paced.

More than a fun adventure

At first, when I've heard this serie, I didn't expected anything and I thought it could be a funny romantic drama and I wanted to discover the cast since I only know some names (the two main leads, Blue and Belle and by the way they are cute together) but haven't watched their series except for Man TrIsanu with Step By Step and 6ixty 9ine the series. I could feel it was cringy and strange but I still wanted to give it a try like, why not? Let's watch something fun.

I was partially wrong because I didn't thought I would really like it so much, it was entertaining to watch (maybe because at that time I wasn't feeling down so it cheered me up with their sillyness LOL)
I binge-watched the 4 episodes but I thought, the last two episodes have some small moments or scenes that felt a bit too long or it's me but overall, I love the pace, the acting was good, the storytelling, it was not only funny but also interesting to watch! It has some mystery, thriller vibes as well.

And the soundtracks are really good, groovy and chill to listen especially Beyond the Wall, my favorite!

Ok so, Ready, set, love is a really nice short dystopian drama and I wouldn't mind if they plan to make a sequel

Perfect, a work of art.

This show was done to perfection. I loved every part of this, big ups to the writer for a job excellently done. They took a niche field like Billiards, and something so beautiful out of it.

When I started this series, I thought that their love stories would be slow because of how shy and introverted the main characters were, but it was way better than that. I love that their love grew, that they both went to great lengths to showed that they care for each other. Had tears in my eyes at the end because of how sweet they were, cuteness overload.

One thing I would have for them to show was how and when her perspective on marriage changed.

I Love this show

this show generally is good the romance plot is so cute I’ve seen a lot of people who disliked the thriller aspect of this which I honestly agree I skip a lot of those parts but I don’t think that ruins the entire show and eb says the the humor is childish and middle school humor so I guess I’m a middle schooler lol I thought it was funny not hilarious but funny nonetheless to do with the main characters this show made me love both the actors because I really do think they portrayed their characters so well

Unique romcom that captured my heart

This drama was not one I had been anticipating, I just happened to come across it. And immediately after the first episode, i was OBSESSED. I absolutely loved how interesting the plot was - it was lighthearted but also serious when it needed to be. I loved how each 'main' character had a purpose in the show - except for Jin... his job was literally just making anyone put on his team, lose. Regardless, I liked how the plot was developed. The acting was great - of course it was silly at times but I think that suited the vibes of the show. I am now a huge fan of Blue since he did such a good job playing Son! I also loved the gay sideplots - both Paper and Chun as well as the producer and her girlfriend. The OST made for the show was very fitting. I'd definitely rewatch this again - it provided me with so much comfort. I feel like the ending was conclusive while also being open which is great. PLEASE GIVE US A SEASON 2.

defo one of my top bl’s now!!

I’ve watched a variety of bl’s and one thing I’ve noticed is their are hardly any bl’s with a good storyline especially a unique one they are normally all based in a highschool, with a boy with a crush on another boy or something similar.. This bl was not only unique but also creative !! Their is depth.. care .. a lot of hard work that was put into it and you can tell that it was actually cared for unlike most bl’s where their is no depth and you can tell it was just made for the money ?

The Perfect Winter Watch!

“In the past, no matter how hard I worked, how hard I fought, I would always feel empty. Since life is unfair, why do I fight like this? There is no place I have to go, nothing I want with all my heart, no one I need to be with. Until…we met one another in a snowstorm.”
________________________________
Where should I start? Perhaps with the statement that if you are looking for a fluffy Cdrama rom-com to watch in the middle of winter, Amidst a Snowstorm of Love is a strong candidate for you to consider. It is a drama full of cute romantic scenes, strong friendships, and endless support from so many different characters. I started this drama in the middle of a pretty bad Cdrama slump, and this was the perfect comfort drama for me to watch while it was coincidentally snowing outside. The leads meet in Finland during a snowstorm, and their story of love and persistence unravels from there. Additionally, much of the plot revolves around the pool table, as the leads are nine-ball and snooker players. Coming into this drama, I knew almost nothing about the sports, but I found myself watching each player anxiously as they competed, silently cheering them on. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love was adapted from the novel of the same name by Mo Bao Fei Bao (墨宝非宝). The novelist’s name may sound familiar; she also wrote the original novels for Go Go Squid!, The Flame’s Daughter, and One and Only.

The first ten or so episodes of the drama are essentially the build-up of Lin Yiyang (ML) and Yin Guo (FL)’s relationship. Lin Yiyang and Yin Guo meet in an evening snowstorm in Finland. The first third of the drama was a bit slow for me, but it quickly picked up speed. Lin Yiyang is an international student in communications, and Yin Guo has come to compete in a major nine-ball competition. Much of the drama is centered around their cute moments in Finland, or as I commented earlier, are basically snapshots of the two walking around in the snow. And of course, food, food, and food! The Chinese characters speak English for a good portion of the drama in Finland. Lin Yiyang and Yin Guo’s relationship is literally the biggest green flag you’ll see in CdramaLand. They are extremely considerate of each other, are amazing communicators (after countless dramas with stupid misunderstandings, thank you!!), and are supportive of each other’s goals. Their little WeChat conservation moments are adorable! Additionally, despite Lin Yiyang being away from the pro-snooker life for over a decade, Yin Guo didn’t hesitate at all when she told him she would support him if he wanted to compete again. Lin Yiyang was the Chinese snooker champion by 13, but soon ‘retired’ due to conflicts with the judges. Yin Guo also started nine-ball at a young age and is currently one of the top internationally-ranked players.

You could say that Lin Yiyang took the initiative for their romantic relationship, but both of the leads were drawn to each other from the get-go. It was so sweet to see Lin Yiyang and his friend Wu Wei taking time out of their day to show Yin Guo and her cousin Meng Xiaotian around Hull, Finland. Lin Yiyang would go on such long train rides just to see Yin Guo again! They’re both more introverted, so as they got to know each other, it was more common to see them eating and chatting over the phone than actually speaking to each other. And after Yin Guo went back to China, they continued to talk to each other over the phone nonstop. The communication between the two is mature and impeccable. There are no stupid misunderstandings at all, and although both leads have attracted a lot of admirers (especially Lin Yiyang), there is just an amazing level of trust that leads to absolutely no jealously at all. I also appreciate the fact that the ML and FL’s admirers backed off after seeing the two together. Thank you, thank you!

Another essential aspect of the drama is the undying support the characters pour on each other. Not only does Lin Yiyang help Yin Guo get ready for her first competition in Finland, but the support is mutual. As Yin Guo slowly learns about Lin Yiyang’s past, she and his old friends are thrilled to learned that he wants to go back to professional snooker. And the bromances are so funny and heartwarming! Even before I knew that the novelist for this drama was the same for Go Go Squid!, I could see similarities between the close-knit friendships tied together by a shared love for the sport. In the beginning, I thought that Yin Guo’s other cousin, Meng Xiaodong (Xiaotian’s older brother) would be a problem in their relationship due to his seemingly hostile past with Lin Yiyang, but I was so wrong. Meng Xiaodong turned out to be one of the most supportive people towards both their relationship and Lin Yiyang’s return to pro-snooker. (There’s plenty of eye candy as well, but that’s just a plus!) We also witness the rekindling of friendships between Lin Yiyang and his former peers whom he left years ago.

I would say that the only major roadblock in Lin Yiyang and Yin Guo’s relationship is Yin Guo’s mom, but she wasn’t much of a problem either. I won’t say why she wasn’t initially supportive of them being together, because it’s explained in the drama. However, her initial dislike towards Yiyang is pretty reasonable. I also think that this progression from dislike to a loving embrace really shows Lin Yiyang’s character changing for the better since he was that stubborn and haughty snooker champion as a teenager. Some people were unhappy with the lack of "subtance" in the drama, but then were upset about the mom. (Just an example of how we can't cater to everyone.) I’m also going to take a minute here to appreciate his amazing teacher, Mr. He Wenfeng. Lin Yiyang was his last student, whom he treated like a grandson. Mr. He is the teacher all of us want, and Lin Yiyang wouldn’t be where he was at 13 or today without his guidance.

In my opinion, Wu Lei and Zhao Jinmai had amazing chemistry. It didn’t help when their characters were so loving and supportive towards each other either! Even as opponents, every clap and congratulations were extremely genuine and everyone was happy for one another, no matter who won or lost. All the actors and actresses made the rom-com enjoyable, with plenty of smiles and laughs. The OST is cute and perfect for the leads' happy moments together. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love was the first drama I’ve watched that shines the spotlight on the pool table. Since I know basically nothing about snooker and nine-ball, I can’t testify to whether the drama showed gameplay correctly, but it sparked my interest in the sports. And given that China is currently very high-ranked internationally in terms of snooker and nine-ball, the drama also was able to raise awareness for the sports in China, and of course, outside of China.

All in all, Amidst a Snowstorm of Love is the perfect cuddly winter watch! It is a perfect combination of romance, friendship, and healthy relationships across the board. You are not only transported to the world of pool, but also get to experience a Finnish winter and amazing love story. It’s definitely a plus if you start this drama when it’s snowing outside. (That’s what happened for me!)

Thanks for reading!

STOP overthinking and watch it already, you WILL NOT regret it

Okay, just to show you all how good this is, I have to say that this is my first ever review after 4 years of watching dramas. I simply have to write one, because I feel genuinely sad for the people who have not seen this yet.

First of all, I have to say that I absolutely LOOOOOOOVE the cast and the way they play their roles, it's just perfect. You could really feel their love with so much intensity. This drama had me squealing, giggling and rolling in my bed non stop. I fell deeply in love with both the leads and all the other cast. They all made this drama so much more wholesome.

I think that their relationship in the beginning is sooooo cute and sometimes cringy and you get immediately immersed. However, as the show goes on they develop such a beautiful relationship, that I hope something like this could exist in reality. They go through very good times, but also very bad times and you can see how much they support each other in everything. It's so HEARTWARMING.

I gave the story only a 9 because it's not a really complex plot but I don't think more is needed honestly. It's simple but perfect at the same time, I think it just suits everything else about this drama.

I'm giving the music a 9'5. It's so good and there are certain parts that stayed in my head so much that I'm listening to it even in my free time. I think it really goes perfectly with the flow of the drama and it made me very emotional in the right moments. Very good.

And lastly I need to emphasise on the rewatch value of this. It's CLEARLY and UNDOUBTEDLY a 1000. I did not make a mistake, it's a 1000. Its been a week since I watched this show, and I have tried watching other 3 dramas that are not making me satisfied in the least, because there is simply no point in even comparing them to this one. It's too good. That's why I'm back here writing my first ever review, and that's also the reason why I'm about to watch it again, even though it has only been a week since I watched it. I am SO EXCITED.

LISTEN TO ME AND WATCH IT. THANK ME LATER. ENJOY!!!!!
