Classic teen drama energy but make it very serious lol
Enjoyed this so much. Had to take a break before watching 3 episodes because I did not want it to end. if anyone had heard me watching, they’d think I was losing my mind.I know they weren’t necessarily teenagers….I think Ha Won is like 20 but I have no idea how old the others were supposed to be. but they all felt like. it just felt like a classic teen drama. like there’s so many American tv choices that had similar vibes. and then of course it being in 2016 really puts it in a peak moment in time lol.
the OST is one of the best I’ve heard. so so good.
Star deductions on acting/casting + overall because of Hye Jin and Hye Ji only. I don’t even feel like I can say she’s poorly written because that is exactly who they wanted her to be. and she was fully committed to the bit. but man…… such a useless character. like she had nothing about her or to her existence except for being all about Hyeon Min. then when he finally gives her time of day, she can’t stop smiling. like huh???
their dynamic was strange but when you really think about it….it’s not at all surprising that Hyeon Min was boxing her out like that. the ten years thing felt exaggerated because who likes someone else that long especially when you’re not around each other that whole time? but hey it’s a kdrama.
Ha won is legit one of the best female leads I’ve watched!!! And ngl I lovedddd her and Ji Woon. it’s definitely subjective because their banter and enemies (kinda) to lovers is up my alley. but I can see why a lot of people aren’t fans of it.
there’s so much more I could say hut this is already too long.
I guess TL;DR it’s cheesy and cringe with annoying characters but if you’re open to that and ok with that for what it is, it’ll be good lol.

Hear me out..... and give this drama a chance!
People have different perspectives, and not every single drama will be liked by the majority or become a massive hit.I will say I haven't seen a drama recently that has been targeted with as much overt criticism as Overdo. I do think there's been alot of negative review bombing here as well. Some of the criticism is valid though ; the directing /use of AI for the theme song, ( that later got changed thankfully, but clearly it wasn't a big issue since other dramas have also use AI afterwards) and weird placement of the BGMs but for someone like me who grew up watching soap operas it didn't really bother me too much. The comparison to vertical dramas is fine, because i've always associated them as shorter soap operas.
I think alot of people, had higher overall expectations for the drama coming from POJ and the reuters that went viral but should have known what to expect from an idol drama , especailly an idol drama set in the republican era.
One of the reasons to watch this drama is the acting and storyline. I would say the acting is well done across the board . Linghe, does a fanstatic job in this role and carried all the emotional/acting scences really well i can clearly see that his acting has developed alot over the years. He doesn't want to be 'boxed' in certain characters and is very level headed with his acting and position in the industry. Churan, is someone i haven't seen in anything but is known for her good looks but she also did a good job here. I never really thought she was out of place in any of the scenes and although they don't have a passionate romance, there's clearly chemistry. between them. I find that since they are both highly praised for their visuals, people tend to underestimate their acting skills .
I don't think this drama is a strain on anyone's career, and there's alot of things the actors are getting hated on that are beyond their control unfortunately. Overall, there are alot of redeeming qualities in the drama and it think it's a drama that has gotten better has the storyline developed. If you like angsty, tragic love stories with a very pretty cast this drama is for you! Don't let people sway your opinion and watch it for yourself. Don't take it too seriously, dramas are also meant as a form of escapism.

A messy collection of disorganized scenes
Despite high expectations and a visually appealing lead cast, Overdo unfortunately falls flat, delivering a highly frustrating viewing experience marred by fundamental execution failures. From the very beginning, the production choice to use a bizarre, jarring AI-generated opening sequence immediately alienates the audience, setting a tone of cheap experimentation rather than historical immersion. This initial misstep transitions into a broader technical disaster, where the cinematography suffers from amateurish camera work, bewildering close-ups of random objects like footwear, and an overwhelming yellow color-wash filter. Furthermore, the persistent use of aggressive blur and light refraction effects does not create a romantic atmosphere as intended; instead, it leaves viewers with strained eyesight and the impression of a low-budget vertical micro-drama rather than a premium television production. While the visual flaws of Overdo are distracting, the true failure of the drama lies in its deeply flawed narrative framework and disjointed plotting. The script suffers from a severe structural imbalance, choosing to rush through critical historical context and political intrigue in favor of manufacturing endless, unearned melodramatic peaks. Instead of building a cohesive, slow-burning story arc, the writers rely on an exhausting series of ridiculous coincidences and abrupt character decisions that defy basic logic. Every major plot progression feels unearned because the series prioritizes immediate shock value over organic development, leaving the overarching wartime strategy feeling incredibly shallow, juvenile, and completely disconnected from the stakes of the Republican era.
Furthermore, this narrative emptiness is severely worsened by the show's inability to establish any genuine emotional hooks or nuance. The pacing swings wildly between painfully slow filler scenes and rushed resolutions, stripping the central romance of any authentic tension and turning potential high-stakes conflicts into predictable tropes. By aggressively pushing the emotional intensity to a maximum in every single scene, the plot completely loses its rhythm, making major tragedies feel hollow and leaving the viewer entirely detached from the characters' fates. Compounding these narrative flaws are numerous glaring production oversights, including distracting modern anachronisms like visible clothing tags, gas stoves, and tablets in a 1930s setting, thick makeup even in the middle of a war zone, alongside extras who awkwardly pretend to eat or blink during crucial moments. Regarding the performances, the acting isn’t good enough to elevate the weak script, delivering a standard execution. While the lead cast displays occasional moments of competence, their portrayal lacks the deep emotional range and nuance needed to make the high-stakes narrative feel genuinely convincing.
Because the adaptation heavily alters the original novel's intricate source material without replacing it with a competent substitute, the final product feels like a messy collection of disorganized scenes rather than a well-thought-out, comprehensive story.

Love so soft, love so sweet
Aug 5, 2026When Oranges Fall is one of the sweetest and wholesome Thai BLs I have watched. It is absolutely so adorable to consume and digest, it feels like a perfect warmth on a chilly day. I truly loved looking forward to each Wednesday as the series progress.
I think that Almond and Progress truly have such great chemistry and I wish I can see them in more series in the future. I think that the plot was solid even if it is generic and a throwback type of story. Though I must say, I did feel a bit lacklustre for the final episode. I feel like it could have been more, it just felt underwhelming for me hence why it took me a while to finish the series. I do think the conclusion makes sense, but it just feels a bit odd or something is just falling flat with it. Regardless, I love the series as a whole and it is still something I would recommend and possibly rewatch in the future!

Could be better
The drama had great potential to turn into something amazing, especially since it's set in an era that many people love watching stories about, with so much room for creative ideas. However, the director and screenwriter ruined the concept with overly dramatic, Bollywood-style exaggeration—where one bullet kills, another does nothing, and a single hero takes down a hundred men."Is there anyone from the cast who didn't die besides Ren Susu?! The writer desperately needs therapy, they're in a really bad place. What a total waste of time watching this drama—the amount of gloominess reached an absurd level. The lead characters got exhausted from constantly visiting graves, every two minutes someone else dies. I honestly don't mind if one of the main leads dies as long as it's written well and serves the plot, but EVERYONE died?! Not a single couple made it to the end, it's way too much. Literally no one got to live a normal life, IT'S SO OVER THE TOP!"
The casting for the female lead was terrible—a complete wooden actress with zero acting skills. The male lead was literally carrying the whole show on his back. The female lead was written as an incredibly selfish character in a toxic relationship, constantly dragging him down, using him, and leaving him in pain every single time. At times, I found myself getting frustrated with the male lead—wondering why he was so in love with someone who clearly used him, and why he chose to believe her lies just to feel a fleeting moment of comfort, fully aware that she was lying. But later on, I truly understood his character: having grown up without affection, love, or protection as a child, she gave him a few months of love, only to drain that love from him over years of torment. Also he is the one he got the worst ending.
Watching this series was an absolute a waste of time.

Overdo of overdo
People who watched it, keep saying, keep watching don’t drop it, by this episode you will start getting hooked. I think if a drama doesn’t get your attention in the first half hour, don’t bother with it. You will only keep getting distracted and not paying attention to the story unfolding before you.I found the whole relentless beating of one man’s psyche was too much to handle. The writer didn’t after all of that intense emotional and physical abuse of their protagonist character, didn’t even have the guts to give it a proper burial! Instead they cowered behind “ what if” mode.
The only grace this drama has earned?! Leading actors and the supporting cast. Stellar performance from all. I suggest to the production team, avoid making dramas from books written by this author. It’s a waster of time to follow the script of the book up to certain point and then start doing “ this is our version “ story.

Strong potential but has disappointments
I really anticipated this drama as watching some of the behind the scenes releases by the actors as wrap up promotion had me excited. I can see quite an improvement in ZLH’s acting, he’s been really using his eyes to act. He truly has a lot of potential!I felt disappointed however, with the story and plot, it was too much of back and forth. As for the camera work and all, some angles really made the characters unflattering. Like many have said, it really had the short drama feels of being dramatic. They had a promising budget for costumes and set but with the direction and messy plot, I felt if gave off some cheap vibes. They had a strong cast with great actors and actresses but they were not able to show their full potential due to a weak script and messy directing. Such a shame that I rolled my eyes many times at the plot. The final climax really made the story feel better, but it didn’t happen till literally the last few episodes. Many voiced that the ending was too sad, however, I think not all stories need a perfect happy ending. Each character ended their story in their own unique ways. Overall, it was still enjoyable , but don’t have too high of hopes!

Perception VS Reality
You Are My Fateful Love is built around the idea that memories aren't perfect records of the past—they're shaped by our own emotions, assumptions, and personal narratives. What we believe happened isn't always the complete truth. The drama explores this concept through its two leads, who both secretly harbored feelings for each other in the past but each assumed those feelings were unrequited. A decade later, they've gone their separate ways, only for a series of unexpected events to bring them back together. As they revisit their shared history, they're forced to question not only what really happened but also how much their own perceptions have influenced their memories.Pros:
- The acting is excellent across the board. The leads have convincing chemistry, and the supporting cast delivers equally strong performances that make every relationship feel meaningful.
- The second and third couples are more than just filler romances. Each has its own charm and conflicts, adding variety to the story and keeping the overall narrative engaging.
- The humor feels organic rather than forced, with plenty of lighthearted moments that balance the more emotional and serious scenes.
- The plot is well-constructed, blending romance, mystery, and legal drama without losing focus. I especially appreciated its thoughtful portrayal of defense attorneys and the importance of due process, as well as its commentary on the harassment and exploitation of women in the entertainment industry. These themes give the story more depth beyond the central romance.
- One of the drama's strongest aspects is how it examines the unreliability of memory. Rather than relying on typical misunderstandings, it shows how two people can experience the same events differently because of their insecurities and assumptions, making the emotional payoff feel earned.
Cons:
While the overall story is strong, the pacing noticeably slows in the final stretch. The drama could have comfortably wrapped up in around 24 episodes instead of 30, as several late episodes feel repetitive and prolong conflicts that had already reached satisfying conclusions.
Overall:
You Are My Fateful Love offers a heartfelt blend of romance, mystery, and personal growth. Its strongest qualities are its emotionally mature storytelling, memorable performances, and thoughtful exploration of how our memories and assumptions shape the relationships we build. Although the ending takes a little too long to reach, it's an enjoyable and rewarding watch for anyone who enjoys character-driven romance with a touch of suspense.

Eu gostei!
Was this review helpful to you?

What I Liked
- visuals
- easy to understand premise
Room For Improvement
- a 2 minute conversation would have solved a misunderstanding that led to years long ghosting
- several coincidental meetings

Viewers who appreciate melodramatic genres will find this drama satisfying..
I was thoroughly captivated by this melodrama, which kept me enthralled late into the night, eagerly anticipating the next episode. The purpose of fictional characters and stories is to engage the audience, and this drama achieved its objective. As a viewer seeking entertainment, I didn't scrutinize its logic, but instead, I appreciated the exceptional performance of the cast and the melodramatic plots. I have to highlight the outstanding acting skills of the male lead, who consistently delivered, even in the final episode. Overall, I highly recommend this drama as an engaging and entertaining watch. Was this review helpful to you?

well it was 30 minutes......
so I'm not really sure what I expected from a 30-minute show, but there was a lot wrong, but I think the worst of it was that it could have been something really good! the thought process was there! but for 30 minutes it wasn't really any time to flesh out anything, not the action, not the relationship, it's like they met for 10 seconds and all of a sudden they're soulmates! but honestly the biggest issue that I had with the whole show was the fact that the end, big spoiler here, was a one year ghosting! I mean I understand that a lot of dramas have a time jump but there's always something leading into it, this boy got a phone call that his dad passed away, and that was it, he just took off, he didn't tell anybody, for a whole year, no phone calls, no text, no freaking letter! this is the 21st century, he could have dropped him a text! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️Was this review helpful to you?

Worth Watching
The drama was a really sweet and enjoyable drama. Since it's only 8 episodes long, it goes by pretty quickly, making it an easy binge without ever feeling rushed.
One of my favorite things about this drama was how unique and interesting the storyline was. It wasn't your typical romance, and the plot kept me engaged from beginning to end. The twists were well placed, and everything unfolded at a nice pace without dragging or feeling too fast. (Even though we could see it coming who the ghost was looking for...)
The romance was definitely a slow burn, but that's what made it so satisfying. Watching the main couple gradually grow closer felt natural and believable, and their chemistry made every little moment between them meaningful.
I also really enjoyed the soundtrack. The songs fit the emotional scenes perfectly and added to the overall atmosphere of the drama.
Even though it was a shorter series, the characters were easy to become attached to, and the story wrapped up in a satisfying way. If you're looking for something heartwarming with a unique plot, lovable characters, and a slow-burn romance, I'd definitely recommend giving this a watch. It's a short drama that's well worth your time.

It feels like another recycled historical drama, borrowing too much from recent productions.
I've liked Chen Zhe Yuan ever since Hidden Love, but it was Fated Hearts that truly made me admire him as an actor. So, of course, I wasn't going to miss Royal Betrothal. And Wu Jin Yan is simply beyond praise. I love her performances, especially in Story of Yanxi Palace, and she was absolutely magnificent in The Double.
Unfortunately, after seven episodes, this drama still hasn't lived up to my expectations. An intense plot, a powerful male lead, a clever female lead, revenge, political intrigue, and a struggle for power—on paper, it has all the ingredients for an outstanding story. So where does it go wrong? Why does nothing about this drama captivate me?
I've been asking myself that question, and I've come to one conclusion: this is yet another repetitive story, too similar to countless dramas we've seen in recent years.
Not even Wu Jin Yan's remarkable acting can save such an unappealing female character. Despite her tragic past, her determination to survive, and her relentless pursuit of revenge against a cruel and unjust world, she leaves me emotionally untouched. I feel no empathy for her shattered soul or her broken heart. The hardships she has endured have turned her into someone cold, harsh, and manipulative, making it difficult for me to connect with her.
As if that weren't enough, her styling is simply awful. The pale makeup and pinkish eye contour make her look tired, swollen, and much older than she should. The costumes do her no favors either. She appears far too mature for the role and noticeably older than her male counterpart. So far, there is absolutely no chemistry between her and the emperor.
I'm honestly growing tired of seeing the same formulas repeated over and over again. I'll give this drama a few more episodes, but I'm not sure even Chen Zhe Yuan's charm will be enough to keep me watching.
What a disappointment.

wasted starring potential, let down by plot
to begin: this is not hate review; i don't follow any news or fandom for any cdrama actors, just like watching anything.i have no problem with depiction of history in this drama or whatever era it tried to show. but the plot and story plus direction felt awkwardly off. for being a republican era drama or whatever, this much pull and push was unnecessary. it could have been covered within 24 episodes.
leads were fine, have watched both their dramas before. acting ok. story...- weak.
