Dangerous romance or boring romance?

GMMTV never ceases to amaze me how they can turn a promising story into the most mediocre one. GMMTV has a real talent for creating fantastic teasers for its series, and Dangerous Romance is no different. Once again, I was fooled and decided to watch this presumably action-packed story of dangerous love . Well, as we all already know the final product turned out to be something completely different. What is this series actually about? Good question :) In a way, I felt like I was watching an anthology of three different stories: 1) the transformation of a bully into a good boy through love (ep 1-3) 2) My lovely tutor (ep 3-9) and finally 3) where did this gangster story come from? (10-11). I started having a serious crisis as early as episode 6, as did Khan, who started acting as if he had a split personality. The poor guy couldn't decide who he actually loves - he loves Pimfah, but flirts with Sailom, even though he supposedly feels nothing for him, and then suddenly he's jealous of him? WTF? Then with each episode there was only more of this shit and then I realized that to be able to finish this series you have to turn off your brain and stop analyzing it. I won't even mention that this series is a conglomeration of the most common bl tropes that exist: sponge bath? check. Accidental fall? check. Staring at each other for 30 seconds without saying a word? Check. Love triangle? check. Trip to the beach? check. It's like a recurring nightmare from watching 'Hidden Agenda' but with better actors. I regret watching this series.

Watchable, but there are better short-length modern mini dramas

One of the nice things about mini dramas is they're short enough that you don't have to feel too bad for wanting to finish them even when they're a little cringy.

My Lovely Wife is a fluffy and campy "dog's blood" drama, which can be it's own guilty pleasure, but here, suffers from mediocre to poor acting, and some cheesy dialogue (the translation is better, lol). There is little chemistry between the leads and unfortunately the ML does not have the presence to carry off leading man status.

One of its biggest flaw, however, is the way the drama minimizes attempted sexual assault against the FL. She is attacked multiple times by a side villain and once by the ML (who was unknowingly under the influence of a drug). At a minimum, the ML should have apologized and asked if she was okay once he was himself again, but it is never addressed or shown (even a mini drama can spare two minutes for this). Even if the FL is understanding of the circumstances, it does not lessen what must be a very traumatic experience. This is by no means unique to My Lovely Wife -- C-dramas do this far too often. I can even pretend the FL somehow bounces back immediately after being kidnapped multiple times, but this is one topic that should be treated with much more care and sensitivity.

Overall, My Lovely Wife is weirdly watchable for those who enjoy a good campy melodrama, despite the cringe-factor. If you're like me, most short-lengths over 6.5 are watchable enough for a "quick drama fix" especially when you are short on time and looking for low-commitment TV. But if you do want additional -- or better -- alternatives set in the modern day, (in no particular order) Destined to Meet You, Ready for Love, Forever Love, Secretary Bai Wants to Resign Everyday, Night of Love With You, Love at Second Sight, Better A Lie Than A Truth, are all superior mini dramas compared to this one.

Such a beautiful drama. (No direct spoilers but some things are implied)

Probably one of the most emotional dramas that I've watched, binge watched the entire thing... Such a beautifully sad story, it was so well written. My heart quite literally hurt watching this drama, cried a thousand rivers frfr. The acting was one of the best in the K-drama scene, which I expected from Dohyun cause he's such a great actor, didn't get to watch anything from Go Minsi but she was also a great actress. They had great chemistry, and their good acting made me feel everything they felt cause they just expressed it so well. All the characters played so well. Okay not gonna lie though, I did kinda drop the drama when I reached about 4 episodes, so it was a tiny bit boring for me at the beginning (Maybe just for me though), but I decided to complete and DAMNNNN.
I remember when I was secretly watching this in class my friend tried to warn me, she told me it was going to be SAAAD but I brushed it off and said it couldn't be that bad. But BRO T-T . Oh how wrong I was.

I would definitely recommend this but you will cry, I don't care how tough you think, you are you will cry. Even if you're not an emotional person this drama will turn you into one.

FLAWLESS ACTING! The way I felt butterflies in every cute scenes ooooof. LOVED EVERY PART OF. You know how you just feel the hunch from the start that this is a masterpiece??? Definitely worth my time! If you're going through a lot of hardships or pressure this is truly a stress relief!! Enjoyable

As a Kpop fan, I only knew Onlyoneof by name, but I was curious to watch this series because it's always so special to see idols acting, especially in BL series.
I didn't have huge expectations for it but I have to say I enjoyed watching it; I'm a little disappointed for the rushed ending, I would have preferred them to delve deeper...
The guys were good at acting and I really loved the soundtrack!

WORST MAX ACTRESS

- This drama is a wholesome drama if we take out the character Xu Qin (or) Meng Qin. She is overacting, no acting sense, pulling down Song Yan's performance and the entire team's performance.
- All the support actors and Yang Yang(Song Yan) did an awesome job and the entire team are a group of stunning professionals.
- This drama is not worth(Just because of Xu Qin or Meng Qin) of a rating of 8.2 because it becomes boring and lagging after some time.
- Love : Doesn't feel like it at all (or) the girl makes it worse.
- Firefighters: Salute to the actors and also real firefighters in the entire world

It was good until...

The drama start with a good start, unfortunately they can't keep it up untill the end.

Quite like the story development at first, everything run quite smoothly without much can be criticism. Unfortunately in the last episode, they kinda jump the plot until make me confuse & shout: "Hah!? How that's happen again..." I think we have missing scene that not included into the final wrap...

The story around 2 long separated friend that meet again in their adult age. The meeting evoke their pent up feeling & the closeness make the feeling bloom into something else.

I like how the story progress with Choi Jun (CJ) try to get closer with Lee Jun (LJ), with all of CJ's expression that we can see on his face. But at the same time, I got blank page from LJ. LJ sudden change in feeling toward CJ make me wonder how & when that happen....

Overall this only another drama that passed by in my days...

Sherlock & Sherlock

Don't Call It Mystery is a japanese drama heavily borrowing from Sherlock Holmes modus operandi.

Konou Totono is a quiet, loner of a student whose goal in life is to make curry and survive the day. He goes to university and is apparently without family and some of his memories re missing which does not seem to bother him too much. His remarkable feature is unruly curly hair making him easily recognizable. Another quality of his is an extraordinary attention to detail which surprises everyone around him especially when he explains how the events unfolded with his dead pan delivery making is to obvious in hindsight. Therefore he is just like Sherlock.

In the first episode he is arrested for murder and while sitting in the police interrogation room and talking to detectives, he solves the case for them and happily goes home to make his curry!

This special 2h episode (not 2h25 as indicated on the MDL page!) takes place between the first and the second episode of the series. It reprises the first episodes with a few additional scenes introducing a new character important for the second part of the special in which Totono and this new character, embark upon a strange part time job looking for a buried time capsule.

The extraordinary and a bit disturbing new character, a classmate called Sagara Ren takes Totono along on an adventure. Ren's apparently happy go lucky disposition actually hides capacities similar to those of Totono.

The music is a bit strange for a mystery show: highly recognizable classical music punctuates and stresses the events on the screen with only one song in japanese during ending credits. The cinematography is, just like the rest of the series, saturated in cold colours: grays and blues are prevalent but since it takes place in winter it is appropriate. Goes as well quite well with the character of Totono.

I do not know if this additional character will show up in the movie: but seeing how he just breezed through, like a genie I would be surprised. I actually half expected this special to turn ito fantasy when I saw the important place Ren took: he was always dressed in white and sporting a huge smile (poor actor must have had cramps after filming this!).

This is definitely a good watch: and it can be watched without problems by those who have not seen the drama.

DREAM, REALITY, REDEMPTION

The story is well filmed and directed. The only problem is that the dream takes too long ... more should be devoted to the ending, which is rushed. More should be shown between the dream and the real world. What the ML said and how the FL responds in the the dream world.

Well, there's enough evidence that it can be a HE ... the script writer has put everything there that shows that they can be together if she accepts and loves him. This is a BIG IF though ... but in the dream she loves him so maybe it will carry through. In her dream she already worked out that she shouldn't hang on to the first love, ZYL, and the imaginary defender, HRZ.

She already knows that she shouldn't hang to HRZ as a self-protector because she knows she is strong enough with ZXW's love.

She went to the coma with the assumption that NO ONE cares and loves her. She wakes up because ZXW shared that he has always loved her for the goodness in her. He gave her motivation that she can do good like sharing the incense with everyone.

So it's a good ending because there's no need to explicitly say everything. BUT it's rushed!
I gave this drama an 8 because I feel the ending is rushed. There are 2 ways to deal with this: either show more interaction between the dream and real life (ie. he talks to her IRL) ... show those interactions or develop the ending more. The ending is rushed so we are left with a few cartoonish abrupt transitions. I think they should show how the ML talks to her during her dream and how she reacts (this is only done at the end).

Kingdom Season Two is everything I wanted from the second season of Kingdom.

It was a true climax to the first season, but that's kind of a double-edged sword. In my mind, I view Season One and Two as a continuous story without a break in seasons. I just don't feel like Season One and Season Two had separate arcs. They really are a combined story that you should binge back to back. Because of that, I kind of lump them together, so here's my review for Season One:

Cinematic masterpiece worth binging

In search of answers for his father's illness, the Crown Prince and his guard, Moo Young, set forth to locate the last physician who might be able to treat his father. But the two end up stuck with Assistant Physician Seo Bi and a mysterious man named Young Shin in a village plagued with a terrifying disease - zombies.

This drama instantly drew me and each episode kept its' momentum. The twists around the zombies and the characters were unexpected and made me root for our heroes even more. I also like that the show was not only about survival, it has an allegory of human instinct, that people could bond together in time of crisis but can deviate for their own needs. Kingdom is stunning in it’s production quality. Every single scenery shot looks magnificent, with a lot of breathtaking scenery, aerial views, fast-moving and slow-moving camerawork. They used fog, shadow and lighting perfectly. It's a cinematic masterpiece!

If you're wondering whether it’s scary…Although there was blood, violence, head-rolling @.@ …it's not a jump-scare type of horror, more like a thriller. Kingdom 2 is everything I wanted from Kingdom 1, it’s the true climax of one story. So if you're in the mood for an engaging watch, just binge both season altogether!

It's simply okay.

I watched the 2016 drama series before watching this drama. I think this drama is meant to be an introduction to the 7th Section aka Higanbana. The concept of an all-female police unit that's designed to protect female criminals and female victims is good, but somehow the plot falls short in some ways. The idea of having the main character with sixth sense is fascinating, but it doesn't deliver well, which makes the whole storyline less impactful. Overall, it's not bad, but it's not very good either.

If I may suggest, watch the 2016 series first and then give this drama a shot if you like.

One of the best

I have read most reviews and I think they have reviewed too prematurely. HRZ is a definitely an odd character... too perfect.. in the entire plot but the ending (last ep 30) wraps up beautifully and unexpectedly.. and explained. I'm not going to give spoilers but this show is one of the bests, great acting. It got me chasing ep by ep. I was having mixed feeling for the ML's character but great wrap with happy ending.

A word of advice to all.. dont review before you watch till the end. I hardly write reviews but cant help correcting and adding on. Enjoy the show.

Unearthing Timeless Aroma: 'Scent of Time' – The Must See Drama of 2023

"Scent of Time" surpassed all of my expectations and proved to be an exceptional drama. From the very first episode to the last, it unfolded as a well-crafted and beautifully executed masterpiece. The show cleverly dropped hints throughout the series, keeping us engaged, and ensuring we wouldn't be disappointed when the truth was revealed that it was all just a dream.

I wholeheartedly give this a solid 10/10. This drama is not only my favorite of the year, but it has also earned a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorites. Its compelling storyline, exceptional acting, and remarkable production quality make it a must-watch for anyone who appreciates top-notch storytelling and entertainment.

I couldn't recommend this drama more highly; it's a true gem in the C-drama Land.
