A Romcom worth the while

Firstly I would like to say that all the cast members did a great job in their respective roles. To me, no one felt lacking in any way.
Song Kang seems to be the perfect fit for the role. The charisma needed to be shown by the character Gu Won was perfectly depicted by him. His acting seemed great and emotions could be felt to the audience. Looking at him playing the character was really a delight.
Kim Yoo Jung proved how experienced actor she is. Couldn't have had a better female lead to accompany Song Kang. Do Hee's character was perfectly played by Kim Yoo Jung. All emotions she portrayed could be felt by heart.
Starting my review from the first 4 episodes: I was personally hooked on to the show from the first episode, the encounters between the leads and the later tragedies were perfectly fit in the episodes. The plot was made perfectly understandable from the start and the episodes and their storyline always made me want to know more about the story. All characters were shown in these starting episodes and had some screen time to each of them. The episodes had great comic lines and equal amount of other things going around to make the audience hooked upon the show. Most important thing that dramas should have is the power to keep the audience engaged in the starting episodes and this drama hit that note well.
Episodes 4-8: The main plot started to take place here. All the conspiracy in the drama can be seen unfolding in these episodes in the perfect pace. Each episode ending was made so perfect that would keep you on your toes for the whole week waiting for the next episodes. Gu Won characters develops quite a bit in this stage and shows different emotions in him. Both leads share a great chemistry in this part especially the comic timings in these episodes. Focus also starts mainly to finding the culprit and keeping Do Hee safe. The scenes were always some what predictable but the way they were shown and portrayed by the characters was what made a difference.
Episodes 8-12: The chemistry between the leads is best shown in this part. A perfect honeymoon phase starts that everyone would love to watch. The leads slowly get closer to finding the culprits step by step. Some parts of the past also start unfolding which makes the story interesting making one wonder how Gu Won ended up like this. Many questions remain unanswered during these episodes but the way the main leads carry the story was just great.
Episodes 12-16: The climax part of the drama was expected yet was able to bring some unexpected twists. All questions are answered well in these episodes. Unlike some dramas where everything is hurried up in the last episode, this drama did it well in maintaining an appropriate pace in unfolding the story. Nothing felt too fast or slow. The last episode will also leave one satisfied since nothing was left to be completed at the very end. All moments that a viewer would want are shown.

There were scenes in every episode that felt heart touching, gave you a smile and kept you wondering.
Madam Ju had a good impact till the end of the story even though one might feel in the early parts of the drama that she had less screen time.
Noh Suk Min was as expected and one could predict everything about him yet his portrayal kept me engaged.
Seok Hoon showed clear feelings since the start yet he was not predictable and one would question his intentions till quite some time throughout the drama. It was good to see his character was never made over clingy or interfering and was just perfect as a supporting person. His comic scenes with Gu Won were quite enjoyable.
Ga Young might have seemed a bit irritable at first but to be honest till the end she become a great person. Even her actions in the first half of the show were understandable after watching the whole show. Ga Young actually was a very determined person and I personally loved her character.
Do Hee's secretary and Park Bok Gyu were a gem considering the amount of laughter they gave to the audience. Their scenes with each other and their respective superiors were very cute and funny. Both showed equal love for their superiors. Bok Gyu's back story was quite some fun to watch. Both these characters played and important role in helping the main leads throughout their whole journey.
All office characters were prefect and a joy to watch. I could easily watch more of them on screen.
Do Hee's family had many issues yet their roles were portrayed well. Knowing more about them would have made the audience connect more to them, although I have no complains since the characters which got more screen time were actually the ones that should've been given in the first place.

The production of the drama seems great. The scenes and scenery shown are beautiful. Some scenes were edited so perfect that you would fall in love with the scene. The water scene on the small rocky beach type area was just perfect and I could've kept watching it.
The OST was just perfect. Can't get enough of 'Our night is more beautiful than day'. One of the best OST's of 2023 for me. The background music be it in the fight scenes or romantic scenes was on point and enhanced the beauty of the scenes.

In some parts it did feel like they are taking some time to show the obvious and felt that there could be some more story added to the show. Last episode might feel like a filler episode with cute scenes. The story was predictable at many points which made the cast the biggest reason to be hooked on to the show. The back story was shown twice at a point in the show which dragged an episode. Some characters could have been explained better.

I can honestly not find many shortcomings since I really liked the show although I do know it wasn't a perfect 10. Overall I would highly recommend it people who love to watch a cute bubbly romcom with a mystery storyline.

P.S. Feel free to tag me or message me if you want spoilers as I tend to avoid giving spoilers in my reviews.

Stunning Visuals and Perfect Blend of Comedy and Romance

My Demon is an amazing show that really impressed me. The performances by Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung were outstanding. They brought their characters to life in a way that was really believable and engaging. Their acting was a big part of what made the show so good. Another thing that stood out to me were the visuals. The show looked beautiful, with really stunning scenes and special effects. It was clear that a lot of effort went into making the show look as good as it does.

The balance of comedy and romance was perfect. The funny moments were really well done, and they made me laugh without taking away from the story. The romantic parts were sweet and heartwarming, adding a nice depth to the show. The way the show mixed these two elements together made it really enjoyable to watch. It's a great show if you like a mix of laughter and love, and it's also just a visually stunning series to watch.

So Much Wasted Potential

Anyone who thinks this was going to be a Not Me 2.0 is going to be very disappointed. I mistakenly thought this was from the same director because someone said so but this isn’t true. This is a dollar store discount version at best.

I really wanted to like this series because it had
1) twins
2) volleyball sports theme
3) a plethora of hot guys

What they got right
Casting Frame as Zee/Sprite
Pairing Frame with Ryan
Pairing Tan with Sam
Having a friends with benefits with Jack/Mike
The bad guys were the most convincing characters in the series until they were caught. Then it went downhill in sloppy writing.

What they got wrong
Salmon had potential but due to 1) poor character development 2) poor acting she became annoying
Namkning and her mean girl friends were a waste of time in this whole story. Taking the, out would’ve made no difference. How they ended up was beyond stupid.
The volleyball training was a bit of a hot mess. Original Zee would not be a star being so self center. How Sprite became good with half ass training dumb.
The scholarship kids on the volleyball team was bandaid together to have a semi happy ending that left me with WTF dumbfounded
The chemistry of Ryan with Frame was there but the storyline was a hot mess due to pacing and awkward editing. Some part was due to underacting and others were overacting. This director clearly cannot lead his actors to give any convincing performance. Neither actor seemed in sync with each other.
The baddies became so lame once they were caught. The acting was cringey to watch.
I don’t understand why the dude with the baseball cap showed up in last episode for Dedeuw
Mike and Jack was the messy relationship that made no sense. It was leading to friends to lovers then we come to the end of them being friends with benefits. What they lots the plot of the story.
How Zee was an asshole who all of a sudden became a functional human being with no arc left me confounded.
The mom who was a tiger mom to Zee seemed to become normal too without rhyme or reason.
Why did First ex come back. Only to disappear without rhyme or reason.
Everything with the editing was a mess. The pacing and sequence is just all over the place which made the story hard to follow. I spent so much time trying to connect the dots

The couples had good chemistry

The plot had interesting elements to explore. But unnecessarily dragged the same plot for long. Final episode felt like rushing as they put everything at the end. It would have been nicer to watch the development of lead couples and others a bit more. Many things didn't get a proper closure in the series which is irritating.Overall the drama was good. it was engaging. Hope to see the actors soon in other projects. First, Sprite, Zee, Salmon, Mike, Jack, Sam, Tan... all are so good at their work.

A wonderful journey from hell to heavenly love.

I am not a regular K drama viewer anymore so I cannot say this dama was a cliche type of drama. It was recommended by a friend so I decided to watch it since there appeared to be a lag in good dramas during the Xmas period. I was pleasantly surprised at the content and I just enjoyed every minute of each week. The storyline brought me back to savor the progression of the relationship and the consequences of their polar opposite that attract circumstances to overcome. Visually the drama was outstanding and the stylist did a great job on all of the characters something that always irks me when a CEO or financially privileged character is dressed like they were shopping in a bargain basement. This was not the case throughout the drama and it added to appeal.

The acting: Superb and worth a high rating. The chemistry was just HOT HOT HOT between the leads and their interactions were natural and did not feel forced. The secondary couple was cute and the actors that laid roles that were not the most appealing in the character they played had a compelling joy of contrasting evil vs good. Overall the FL and ML complimented each other which made this drama very satisfying to watch. Perfect casting. Excellent scriptwriter. CGI and Cinematography were all visually pleasing.

The music -- I was not distracted by music so it was fine and was not overdone or inappropriately injected into scenes as to make the viewer annoyed.

Rewatch value: Would rewatch since it was 16 episodes not binged. Some characters would be more enjoyable to watch the second time around -- the ML and FL assistants; the "gang members" the family members and their acting and roles. Very entertaining drama and I would recommend it to any viewers who enjoy love stories, push and pull situations, and overall pure romance situations throughout the 16 episodes (drama was appropriate length) -- no dragging or fillers.

But a shadow of Ten Miles of Peach Blossom

Immortals, demons, gods and nine-tail foxes are the common ingredients of this fantasy drama and Ten Miles of Peach Blossom but it falters in all aspects.

The most glaring one for me was the inconsistent CGI - some looked good while others looked childish. So important to get this right to be able to immerse yourselves in this fantasy setting. Thankfully, most of the wire work was smooth so the illusion of flying and landing and clothes flowing the right way was better than most dramas of this genre.

Dresses were beautiful and flowy but unfortunately too much dangly bits in the hair and some looking very plasticky. TMOPB is still tops for me to this day for this aspect.

Story was average with the usual misunderstandings to drive separation and evil thoughts. If you let yourselves use logic too much, you’ll end up raising your eyebrows at immortals using a toilet, walking or flying when they could teleport and much much more.

Twins: A Riveting Tale of Identity, Brotherhood, and Sports in the World of BL Drama???

Story :
"Twins" is an exceptional BL series that brilliantly blends sports drama with heartfelt romance. The story of Zee and Sprite, identical twins separated by their parents' divorce, captivates with its depth and originality. Sprite's journey, filling in for his comatose brother Zee in the volleyball team while navigating complex emotions, is both touching and thrilling.

Acting/Cast :
The character development is top-notch. Zee's arrogance contrasts starkly with Sprite's warmth, creating a dynamic that enriches the narrative. The tension and eventual romance between Sprite and First are beautifully portrayed, evolving from animosity to deep love. This "enemies to lovers" trope is a classic, but "Twins" gives it a fresh and exciting twist.

The secondary characters, like Sam and Thun, add layers of humor and emotion, enhancing the story's richness. The portrayal of Jack and Mike, though less developed, contributes to the diverse tapestry of relationships within the series.

The acting is superb, particularly by Frame Ritchanon Sriprasitdacha (Zee / Spite) and Ryan Panya Mcshane (First). Their chemistry is palpable, making their romantic scenes a delight to watch. The series doesn't shy away from depicting passion, which is tastefully done and adds to the story's intensity.

Overall :
"Twins" also stands out for addressing serious issues like harassment in sports, the challenges faced by LGBT+ athletes, and the impact of injuries on players' lives. These themes are woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding depth and relevance.

The only downside is the lack of screen time for certain characters and relationships, which could be explored further. Maybe a second season would be perfect for this ????

Overall, "Twins" is a gem in the BL genre, offering a unique combination of sports, romance, and social commentary. It's a series that deserves much more recognition. Frame and Ryan's performances are a highlight, and I hope to see them in future projects. ???

What a big disappointment

This feels like an ordeal, to be honest.

I only started getting hooked at episode 5 onwards; the beginning wasn't bad, but I thoroughly enjoyed episode 5 and 6 without watching it in double speed (which, btw, I have never watched so much of a show through double-speeding...). I wasn't as crazy about it as the rest, but the middle of the show was generally enjoyable and nice to be honest (episode 5-10).

Visually, the series is great. The leads look great - individually and together -, the styling is exquisite (oh, to have DDH styling...) and the sets/colors as well as the cinematography are stunning. I also liked the OST a lot, which offers ballads but also moody Pop (the title theme is pretty cool - even with the cursive singing lol).

The acting is alright. In my opinion, Song Kang lacks depth in his performance and definitely shines more in action scenes that are intense (I loved him in "Sweet Home" for example). But I don't think he has the subtle or eye acting down just yet. There are some actors out there who do that very nicely (for example just recently Jung Woo Sung, or also Namkoong Min and Ji Chang Wook). Maybe romance isn't his strength, i don't know. Though SK played the lovesick, goofy boyfriend very well. He was cute with his infatuation with DDH, I will admit.
I enjoyed Kim Yoo Jung's acting a lot, especially in emotional scenes (or also in episode 12 with the past life storyline). She also touched me in the last episode. Her acting in the beginning of episode 16 was quite moving, she made me shed a tear haha!
The other characters - didn't care for them. They were there to create drama - Jin "Star" (can't believe there was a weird attempt to redeem her somehow...) - or some were there for comedic relief - the office people or Noh Soo An.

The story is badly paced and boring. This should/could have been a 12-14 episode drama, but they dragged it out way too much. The episode 14 breakup was also unnecessary and didn't do the plot (or my viewing experience for that matter) any favor as episode 15 was boring and dragged. The last few minutes of the final episode also felt endless. It's like they had several scenes as the "last scene" and just put them all together, more and more scenes added - like stop, put an end to it.

I think overall, this drama was okay but I think it's a little overrated. The acting is so-so. the story is okay but not crazy - it's a cute show/fantasy rom-com for the vibes, but it's not as grand as people make it out to be. Which is okay, doesn't have to be.

EXTREMELY overrated

The appraisal of this drama is excessively inflated. So in other words, all of these reviews literally don't make sense. It has a boring plot, always the "met in past life" trope, jokes are extremely overused and boring. I'm so sure that the only reason people even watch this drama is due to it being Korean, having popular and pretty actors, and it just keeps making middle finger/f**k you jokes and I don't care about swearing but at some point all the jokes are way too used. I seriously don't understand what people see in this show.
P.S: The female lead is actually so annoying, the way they tried to make her cool, independent but also kind, and soft inside I cannot emphasize how overused this trope is. Same with the male lead, but instead his character is new and unique but unique isn't always the good thing. The only good character in this show was the grandma, and of course the writer had to kill her off the bat.

Nothing new!

In the realm of "My Demon," the storyline didn't quite grab me, but the magic was in the leads. Let me break it down for you.

So, the plot? It felt a bit like a background character, not stealing the spotlight. I couldn't pinpoint a captivating narrative arc or thrilling twists that usually keep me on the edge of my seat. It was more like watching the leaves fall in autumn—pleasant but not exactly a gripping spectacle.

Now, before you think I'm dissing the whole thing, let's talk about the saving grace—the leads. Oh boy, they were the stars of the show. Their on-screen magic, the way they looked at each other—those stolen glances and electric moments—that's what kept me hooked. It was like watching a cozy fireplace on a chilly night, comforting and captivating.

I'll be honest; I stuck around for the leads. Their chemistry had this magnetic pull that overshadowed the lackluster plot. It was like having a front-row seat to a mesmerizing dance—you can't look away even if the dance floor isn't the most exciting.

The lack of a gripping plot didn't bother me as much because the characters were my anchor. I watched for their quirks, their banter, and the subtle nuances that made their connection feel real. It's like savoring a simple cup of coffee with a friend; you're not there for the coffee itself, but for the company.

In a way, it became my guilty pleasure. I knew the plot wasn't going to win any awards, but the charm of the leads kept me coming back for more. It's like having a favorite comfort food—it might not be gourmet, but it hits the right spots.

Now, could "My Demon" have benefited from a more robust storyline? Absolutely. A captivating plot would have been the cherry on top. But sometimes, in the vast world of shows and movies, you find these hidden gems where the characters shine so brightly that you overlook the plot's shortcomings.

In conclusion, "My Demon" may not have boasted a mind-blowing plot, but the leads made it a worthwhile watch. It's like a breezy weekend read—you're not dissecting every plot twist; you're there for the characters and the cozy atmosphere they create. If you're into character-driven stories and can forgive a plot that's a bit lackluster, give it a shot. It might just become your guilty pleasure, like it did for me.

Glimpse into Corporate Nastiness but Make it Professional

If you're looking for a corporate drama with a strong female lead, character development and a decent plotline, then this is for you!

You get your usual rivalry stories, tons of "i want to strangle this person" moments and bits of what the advertising world is like. It dabbles on mental health and a different character dynamics, but overall the focus is your female lead, Go Ah In and her journey in such a cut-throat realm.

Personally, I enjoyed the drama. Looking back on it, there's a chunk of plotholes that never get addressed or feel thrown in, but its not as jarring an effect on the drama. Perhaps its to emphasize how certain things come and go in the flurry of an ever-changing corporate world. I definitely recommend it if you're just looking for something new, dramatic but still up your alley for strong female lead.

Its an 8.5 from me ^^

"We are each other's destroyers, and saviours" - Do Do Hee

This K drama is perfectly done apart from parts of the story which felt like they didn't make sense but that aside I loved this K drama. The music was amazing, Visuals are outstanding as you can see from the poster, The outfits are the best I've seen from any k drama, every scene the male and female lead would have breath taking outfits and styles. The couple era in the k drama was absolutely adorable they gave me butterflies every time I saw them. The emotions were also portrayed so well you could literally feel the same things the characters were feeling as it grasps you into the story. The happy moments had me shouting in enjoyment. Highly recommend you to go check it out if you haven't, you wont regret it.
