hilarious, poignant and heartwarming

Overall: Ossan's Love Returns was my favorite in the franchise. The writers managed to balance several different genres (comedy, fluff, angst, mystery) well and we had character growth. 9 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on GagaOOLala (along with the rest of the franchise except Ossan's Love Hong Kong) and Viki.

Content Warnings: past death/murder, past violence, grief, non con kiss

What I Liked
- how Haruta and Maki had their flaws but they communicated with one another, apologized when they messed up and continued to love and care for each other, there was some excellent character growth
- clever ways they integrated the episode name
- sweet moments
- funny moments (I laughed so many times)
- realistic parts (like the bed head)
- ongoing physical interest/affection
- Moonlight Chicken (Earth/Mix) cameo
- how they integrated rainbows into the episodes

Room For Improvement
- the non con kiss with the new characters
- perpetuating the stereotype of a mother in law who is mean/exacting to a spouse
- wish we had a bit more time/resolution with several of the characters instead of a mad dash at the end
- if characters aren't comfortable doing something like at the end of episode 9, then the production should cast other actors

"Story about us" or is it just life?

Just Resonated so damn hard with yourself, living in this present world, struck with anxiety depression, hopelessness about life, the drama puts in perspective the value of life. what matters in life, what we might be chasing, what we might be carrying around a baggage, what we might be feeling and every fear, anxiety and things that is stopping you, none of them matters. things will pass. things will move on.

whoever is reading this, i hope you can find hope, peace and happiness in this life, and find and never forget what matters the most to you. i hope the world finds peace and lets everyone live loved and pass by happily during their short time here. i just hope world will stop being greedy and evil. but in the end world will fail. world has already failed. . .

Ps: even though i had doubts watching it first, but now, really thankyou for making such a series. you may have saved me for all i know. i hope this emotion last long within me

My Opinion on Mekong (2023)

I would've say P Louis and P Mik did amazing job saving all the people from the those monsters almost eat them but instead we should at least give P Louis credit because he save plenty of people every episodes. All cast members did amazing job which is P Jayda, Mhoo, Preaw, Mik, Louis, hope seeing more friendship duel again long future of Thai Lakorn series like more action scenes, but the most it cringe my teeth was that P Henri drugged his uncle even though his uncle raised him when was a kid, all them wants gold and etc. Thankfully P Louis and P Mik, his team saw what happen they don't wanna say anything about it. Overall I would say y'all just watch "Mekong (2001)" they have more romantic scenes btw they won't able have English subtitles. Keep up all cast members

There is only one you in this world

Death's Game is a drama that talks about living, that people become comfortable with the pain that exists in their lives and throw themselves into suffering, they don't live, they just exist. Only one thing can make someone give up on everything they haven't experienced yet, even if the future is good or not, they will never know, because they didn't have the opportunity to allow themselves to live.
And Yijae learned this the hard way. Living in different age groups with a clearer mind, learning about life is important in all of them. That we should give everything an opportunity before giving up. This may seem like toxic positivity, but it's what you can believe about life.
I loved Deaths Game, because I was able to see the vision about life that already existed in me, and now I know that this is a beautiful way of seeing the world. There will always be pain, but you can live with a positive mind and everything will work out in the end.

Some promising story arcs but not well executed

The series is enjoyable enough in parts. Some of the acting is good. Some of the interactions between the leads are credible. The story has its moments. Overall though the series suffers from lack of continuity or arc. We come to undersand Mangkorn's motivation to some extent (an early crush), but Yai's transition from rivalry and disdain to sexual dependency to affection is just bizarre. We aren't given enough story to make sense of it, nor are the actors given enough of a story to build believable emotional arcs on.
Some moments are interesting and generally well done, e.g. Yai's flashback to his childhood while eating with Mangkorn's mom.
Too many of the scenes suffer from manneristic acting where more realism is required, and most of the story suffers from lack of depth.

Original to an extent...extent sufficient to warrant disruption in emotions

Original story. Handsome leads. Quite good acting. But what mattered the most is the chemistry made sense.

Thank the Lord (!) that they were attentive to the build up, so their relationship was believable outcome. You can feel in the first couple of episode that nothing was hurried and it paid off.

Utterly enjoyable watch up to the confession episode and then it kind of drags into kind of unnecessary drama.

I was hoping to get healthy response from both leads to tribulations but they went the trope way and did not exhibit much new.

Not many hot scenarios but the tension was so palpable that it could be cut through the air with a knife. Love that. I felt emotions and it is immediate rewatch because of it. Shows both leads did a wonderful job at their characters.

Here the second couple just did not click for me. I can see they were trying to explore the bad boy trope who is also an uneducated man who follows his heart instead all of them educated bunch overthinking everything. However, ring ring, you do not have to be (un)educated to have exclusive access to any of those two mind states. Anyways, I could not feel chemistry from them.

The somewhat of antagonist, the ex, did a great job at his character. Zero cringe from his side. He should have been given more screen time.

The cast was very good and pleasant to watch. I think the key here is that they BOTH acted well, and looked good. It raised the bar and high-brow feel despite the budget. The atmosphere of drama was very expensive, for the lack of better words.

Overall,
Definitely not a skip. Wonderful backbone story that powers more than half of total episodes to be a delight without plot holes. They abandoned the backstory and did not develop its potential fully. Instead they imbued the story with meaningless office drama, in latter eps. However, the build up to them coming together was done brilliantly. Then the last episode seemed pointless. I felt a large decline in meaning of what I am watching in the last two episodes. So you see, up and down. I was surprised at high score output for this drama but I did enjoy how genuine it was. So do not let yourself skip it. It will move you. The attention they paid to the backbone story at the beginning is certainly something refreshing that I hope to see more of in bl.

Enjoy and thanks for reading.

Too Much and Not Enough: The Goldilocks Syndrome of Pit Babe

I really wanted to like this series. I watched Boys Journey leading into it and absolutely fell in love with the cast.

And for the record, that is the one thing that has not changed. The cast is the only thing that makes this series work. Pavel is fantastic. Nut as well is a stand out performer for me. But all of the others are solid, well rounded performers as well.

This series dies by its writing. The problems start within the main couple- who somehow have no palpable chemistry, despite the fact that the actors who play them have chemistry in spades. They are written into an insta-love corner that the show never bothers to write its way out of. Eight episodes in, and the main couple is as hollow and vapid as they were in episode two.

There are too many characters. Many of whom serve no purpose to the plot, and ultimately serve as a pointless distraction away from the main story. There are too many ideas shoved into one show. Is this a racing show, is this an action show or is this a romance? Some series can pull together multiple genres to make a compelling series. The Sign, for example is a show that manages to balance several genres at once and still be coherent. But these writers are not up for that challenge. As they get completely lost up their own plotholes, it becomes increasingly clear over the course of this series that these writers don't have a clear direction for this show. And worse, it's become blatantly clear that they have no interest in writing a BL.

The one positive I will give the writers, is that they did manage to make compelling tension. I would always leave each episode feeling a desperate need to see the next one and find out what will happen next. Unfortunately, they are never able to pay off any of the tension they successfully build. Arguments are forgotten from one scene to the next, characters are constantly behaving in ways bizarrely devoid of emotion. These aren't characters. They're walking plot devices used to push the story around. And I do mean push the story around, because the story never seems to actually push forward in any kind of believable way.

So we're stuck with this Goldie Locks syndrome. Too many characters, too many ideas, too many pointless scenes where characters only exist to lob exposition at each other. Not enough character development, not enough time given to side couples, not enough emotional believability built up between the two main leads.

There's a good story buried somewhere in this. Unfortunately, it seems that these writers were unable to find that plot.

Very wholesome

It’s a beautiful series with amazing actors .The storyline is nothing special but the delivery is worth it .It examines past hurt , decisions between friends and ways to move on. The time for each episode is quiet short so you will not get bored .The plot is easy to follow. If you need better pacing you can choose to read the manwha .I loved this series because nothing seemed forced and the chemistry between the characters seemed authentic. The emotions from each character is quiet real as well.

Quiet, sweet, but nothing special

I actually really like this show. I'm not going to claim it's a particularly *good* show by any means, but it is very pleasant to watch.
It's got a very calm, gentle atmosphere about it, a sort of warm mellow quality that I really enjoyed.
The plot is paper-thin, but the characters are charming and believable to the point where the actual story almost doesn't matter - you just want to keep watching these people living their lives.
The story could have explored alcoholism and Korean drinking culture and it is indeed disappointing that it fails to live up to that potential (oh the things that could have been).
Personally though, once I lowered my expectations a bit, found a lot to like about the series just as it is. The friendships depicted are wonderful, the humour is often understated but works very well with the story, and the pacing and relationship progression are absolutely perfect.
There is no huge drama, no pre-finale curse, there's honestly barely any conflict at all. I can understand why a lot of people lost interest in the show because of this, but I find it a refreshingly realistic take on a budding relationship that makes for a good palate cleanser from more intense dramas.
If you're interested in a low-angst, slice-of-life type drama about people appreciating good food and good company, which features a very wholesome, gentle slow-burn romance, then I'd recommend giving this series a shot.

She's 17, and acting like a baby

Am I the only one who finds the girl's acting in the series as off??! She's 17 but acts like a 3 year old child, making it hard to buy into the on-screen relationship between the main leads. It feels like the guy is dating a kid, and her immature acting messes with the credibility of the show. She could do better by showing a more grown-up side that matches her character's age, which would have made the series more believable and enjoyable to watch!

It's such a pity because the story and concept of the series is awesome, and also all cred to the rest of the actors who did an amazing job!

Could have been extremely good if the ending was not so messed up and weird

Side note before I dive in : I've started watching it since the day it was first aired so as to say : December 4th,2023

So until the very last episode EVERYTHING was extraordinary good, even if they were little things that were off-logical yet you could really overlook it, it's insignificant !
Then came that damn episode in which everything was messed up, done weirdly, it went from a ghost thing to a very weird Aib (Alice in borderland) remake with crazy parents. Then I beared everything through the whole episode hoping (not really) it woud turn out good but no, they even messed it up deeper lmao. Writers really lost it at that point T-T. Then I went to hoping the series would end up there but no ! Writers really like to torture us to the point the ending was hinting at a season 2. I hope they won't be one because apart of remaking the same thing with this time that always whimpering, annoying FL who in her (really bad)way will try to make her classmates know abt what she knows abt the game and will obviously try to fight back the crazy parents I don't see what could happen. I seriously feel like it would be a never ending circle.
I'm now done tackling the story and that last episode that plummetted my rate and even now as I'm writing this review I don't know how to rate it but I think if I end up giving it a 1, understand that it's because this ending is the worst you could ever have seen in the cinema industry. I don't get why people are rating it so high. Plus the way Viki fooled us and never mentionned it was some kind of science-fiction/ fantastic (yet not really )series...

CHARACTERS

The cast is INCREDIBLE ! Especially gyeong jun's actor. I love him sm, even more after this new series of him. He is very talented. He went from that cute and bubbly character in "Tasty Florida" to that psycho bully in "night has come". Btw I'm still waiting for an explanation on why he was crying alone after he litteraly killed a character lmfao. Then Jeong won really absolutely gained my heart at the end, I kinda shipped her with FL tbh. Then ML, I liked him at the beggining he was just incredible in all aspects. But after, he started to just be mean or would see things and promise to help and end up doing nothing or just ignore the bad things happening in front of him and move on like-. Plus he only cares abt FL.

Let's move on our dear bestie, aka FL. I really loved the idea of having a badass female but this one directly to the bin ! Like first she would be whimpering everytime, going to dark and remote places alone, keeps hints for her and when the timing would be absolutely good to set herself up (accidentaly yet in the dumbest way) she would judge it good to tell the others abt those hints she has found. Also she would be acting as a detective taking photos but sis. What's the point when you don't even use those photos you've taken or those clues you've collected ??? Da Beom is the perfect epitome of "don't trust people by looks" lmao. Then the bullying plot abt se-eun at the end is very weird since litteraly EVERYONE could tell it was fake but here it is...

Now let's move another topic : The music ! I don't really remember the OST since it was basically just theme musics but it was well put and in the good situations. Shout out to the writers for using the purge alarm tho. I really appreciated as a fan of the American Nightmare series <3.

To conclude, I would not recommend you to watch it unless you stop at the episode before the last one and leave it there eventhough you would feel like you miss something to end it.

IT WAS disgusting but nobody says because it is MDL

It is MDL where high score is necessary even if you don't get logic or sense in story

So FAT cook enters body of banker and fall for his rich young pretty sexy wife...and started screwing her.
While he also try to meet his real wife on side without telling her that he got into rich man's body and got his wife in his bed.
It was disgusting that even after knowing that man in her husband's body isn't her husband hye jin keep that man without a slight guilt Or shame
man drives his real wife to her death and then leaves his orphan kids

Then comes the illogical ending episode
So 1st it was cook who enters bankers body
So everything goes back in time but COOK doesn't have any memories of him screwing bankers wife..
But banker who was dead. Has memories of his wife and cook in his body making out in there bed and kai feel he did good thing by leaving those memories
It was cooks memories so why they remain with banker who died ?
Our banker is fine with all those memories in which he sees his wife falling for cooking knowing her husband is already dead..... He is not only fine but happy and start using all those things to seducing his wife again

Just think about it you have memories of another man screwing your wife and your fine ?
Cook should have those memories because it was his memories
Do kai forgot that it was cooks soul' that enters bankers body and hye jin fall in love with cook.

Hye jin was a shameless woman who was sleeping with a married man just because he look like her husband

She would not give a single glance on real cook as a man.
They even show them at ending smiling at each other. but hye jin just think of him has a fat ass funny guy to laugh on not a man to screw,
like there is future affair between sexy hye jin and fatty cook. and banker with all cooks wife's memory meeting her behind her fatty husband to have her has his ugly side mistress.

A Feel-good, Cute and Watch-worthy series.

I accept that there is not much storyline, but not everything has to be like that. I watched this while waiting for the new episode of The Sign series (Thai BL). So, I didn't expect to like this series this much.

It's just a cute boy meets boy kind of story. There's no unnecessary drama. Just a light-hearted and cute romantic series. It doesn't also have any hateful characters. I love Holland so much. At first, I couldn't recognize the other male lead. But it turns out he was one of the male leads from 'Where your eyes linger'.

His acting is so unrecognizable from the other series. They both did a great job. Give it a try. I would say.

JUST GO AND WATCH IT ALREADY!!!!!

Deaths game was a thrilling drama about a man who commits suicide and so death punishes him by making him live twelve more different lives and dying in each one of them.

But this drama was more than a fantasy about reincarnation..it was a thrilling and exciting yet emotional journey filled with lots of heartwrenching and heart warming moments.

The cast was the reason why I anticipated this drama and I don't regret doing so because they all devoured in their specific characters...the characterisation was spot on and even those with the least screen time managed to live an impact regardless...

The acting was insane the rage each one of the characters had was an absolute delight and it was a strong factor that added to the beauty of the series.

The story was exciting intense but emotional and also a bit funny ( but not so funny) it was mostly an emotional roller coaster but I loved the dialogue and the life lessons the drama was trying to put across.

What more have I not said, I highly recommend this if you are looking for a short yet satisfying drama to watch!!!

You should go in with a box of tissues though because you'll need it other than that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY BIT OF THIS DRAMA.
